Resin Sacra

I tried this in Harvey Nicks on a recent trip to Edinburgh and it is an extremely decent fragrance. The opening is pure booze with all the delicacy of a fine single malt whisky and like a smother version of Atelier cologne Gold leather, I found this quality to be extremely appealing. As it settles it becomes a warm benzoin amber and suede leather and made me go “huh, I was sort of expecting that from the name but these phases are all great.” Then there’s the main kicker an accord of my favourite note labdanum which is slightly darker more spiced version of frankincense. Then there’s the lighter more uplifting olibanum note itself which basically what this dries down to. I’m really happy with it and describing it as another one trick pony like Avignon or full incense simply doesn’t do resin scare justice, because it’s a more interesting composition than that. Performance is no beast but very exceptable for an expensive but not extortionate fragrance.

Resin Sacra is an elegant, refined and mystical incense gem that is not overpowering. Although it tends towards the masculine side, the delicacy of Tom Daxon makes it possible for me to wear this perfume with exquisite pleasure, I believe that its masculine air is sentenced by the labdanum. All its components smell making a caress, it is not heavy or loud, it is a kiss of natural incense. And the chamois excellently covers the entire mixture. The vetiver is taking center stage and does not end up dominating but it is quite noticeable, mixed prodigiously with the super natural sweetness of the benzoin. Ideal if you want an incense that is not excessive, usable and enjoyable every day. And especially if you want to smell good, it's nice and polished

This is a simple fragrance, basically frankincense and woods with maybe the tiniest bit of sweetness from the benzoin. I like it, but I have smelled this type of perfume a few too many times now. It reminds me of Avignon, which seems to get more praise than it's really worthy of, and I think this is better than Avignon because there is more to it than just frankincense. Projection is better too.

This is benzoin and resins done right. Though different densities, Resin Sacra reminds me as if it could be a calmer and friendlier alternative to Private Label. Softer, airier, less serious. It also shares a lot of similarities to Peruvian Ambrette, another beloved of mine. Overall, great for the fall. I used think I didn’t need it, but now I love it.

Nice pleasant smooth suede with incense. Smells nice, doesn’t perform well, and I struggle with wearing a prominent suede note. It works very well here but it just isnt a note I love to wear. I personally wish they used something different, but again it works very well in this composition, its just my personal preference.

Never mind the name -- suede is the undisputed star of Resin Sacra. This has got to be the smoothest, most natural and inviting suede accord I have ever come across in a fragrance -- I absolutely love it. But to make it even better, add to this magnificent suede an accent of frankincense and cistus that is both meditative and ever so slightly smoky in a way that perfectly compliments the main accord, counterbalancing suede's slight animalic edge with a sense of clean serenity. If that were all, this fragrance would be lovely but still a bit incomplete -- and thankfully the warmth and sweetness of benzoin puts a perfect bow on the whole experience. Sandalwood, vetiver and patchouli are so restrained as to provide a bit of a scaffold while never even beginning to challenge the main notes for supremacy. And if there is any ambroxan in there, it's so well-masked you might never even notice it. In my experience with probably 300-400 fragrances or more, I have never experienced another quite like this one. Performance-wise, this one's a bit tricky. On some occasions, it does seem to fade quickly, only to peek out hours later. Other times, that suede really sticks around. I suspect it's there and lasts at least an average amount of time -- but make no mistake, this is no screamer. It doesn't even smell like a cologne -- more like a place or experience -- wearing a weathered suede jacket at an old cathedral. When wearing it, I feel just a bit more relaxed and present. For all its uniqueness and gorgeous balance, I really enjoy it and easily count it among my top 5 fragrances. Not for everyone, but if it's your kind of vibe, this is absolutely worth considering a FB and is signature worthy.

I finally figured out what this reminded me of! If you take the LuckScent sample stick out and smell it and do the same with Olfactive studio Chambre noire, they are almost identical scents! The difference is with this scent on skin goes more towards the incense side taking a break from the sweetness. I love it. This and sicilian wood are the first two samples ever from the house, but I love them and now need to sample the whole line. Longevity isn't the best though. Scent wise , I don't see how this house isn't all hyped up!! Just imagine a very very dry version of Chambre noire with a little more incense added to it I really just wish this house was able to make their scents last longer and project a little better

So, this has been described in the Perfume Bible as "carried by frankincense". Well, it is good. Dark and smoky and truth be told, frankincense IS the main player here. Vetiver, suede and benzoin are appearing for guest performances in between as well, and the mixing of the composition seems somehow quite effortless with the cistus labdanum lurking in the background at all times. The first times wearing it I thought the longevity was a bit of a joke, as it disappeared after about three hours, but this turns out to be only the sillage, as I can still smell it on my skin after about 8 hours. Truly interesting, if you're into smoky and incense-based stuff.

Soft velvety suede and smoky frankincense dominate, the former only perceptible to me for mere seconds in the opening. The dry down is quite beautiful, blending the resinous qualities of benzoin and cistus with the woody sandalwood and vetiver. Overall a very amber scent, perfect for nighttime or cooler weather months. I am glad to see the perfumer showed restraint here, and did not ruin this by giving it an overly incense-like quality. A beautiful interpretation of the "sacred resin", frankincense. (36)

An Amouage Jubilation clone. It starts as a very harsh, dry, & resinous woody scent the slowly fades into this beautiful spicy woody aroma, very reminiscent of Amouage Jubilation Man. Like.

Velvety suede and dry smoky frankincense. It's a lovely smell, but it's SO subtle. If it were triple the strength, I would consider a full bottle. Even if I slather this on, I have to really huff at it to be able to smell much

A subtle trail of Resin Sacra follows me into my dreams with its sueded incense and patchouli that lulls the senses and deepens the breathing. This frankincense scent is clean and meditative in character. It swirls in sensuality around powdery notes of benzoin, and cistus. A contemplative serenity surrounds it. Frankincense is not my favourite ingredient in perfumery but when used appropriately it can be pleasant and add depth. For those who are beginners to incense or do not like the use of heavy incense in perfumes this may speak to you. I have been wearing Resin Sacra to bed like a comforting cashmere blanket billowing in soft incense smoke, a touch of spice and the warmth of sandalwood.

I swear, sometimes I think some people did not even smell the perfume they "reviewed". Despite the name, this a suede perfume through and through. There are some similarities with YSL's Grain de Poudre, but the perfume, or should I say the cologne it reminds me of is Grafton Cologne from Truefill & Hill, only the latter is even more masculine. Fresh, powdery suede; this is what RS is. Leans masculine imo. Lasts OK but projection is low.

Incense and labdanum on a bed of raspy patchouli and woods, with a suede-like texture. Subdued performance, good longevity.

Very sheer and light in volume but animalic in nature. I get resin but I also get dirty skin. Not loving this at all.
