Azure Lime

The perfume lottery is when you pull open your perfume drawer and at the back, you find a huge, satisfying flagon of Azure Lime that hasn't been touched for the very first time. I bought this apothecary bottle when I worked for Estee Lauder Group Companies and as some of you may or may not know, you get a hefty discount on Tom Ford... thank you Aerin ;) Anyway... this strange beauty and a vat of Champaca Absolute came home with me (fast forward... 10 years later). It's January, in the UK... I put Azure Lime on my wrists (don't scrub or rub people... you'll ruin it)... and, err, a slug on a piece off cotton wool in my bra, plus a dab under each arm pit. When I first put it on, I kid you not, this fabulous mystery of a perfume was not going to give me anything, nothing, nada, I was confused... I literally could smell nothing. So I shoved a rather large of bottle of Antonia's Flowers ROKKA into my bag for later and went to work. WELL..... hold the front the page, this perfume starts to unfold, literally, every 10 minutes in my car journey, it's giving me more, a bit more, then it's all LIMES, limes limes limes... and then it's sexy limes, I feel a bit of a nudge, I am smiling to myself, thinking, is this happening, then I get to work, into the lift, 30 minutes later, it's flowering limes and a hint of sex, just a hint. Under the arms, this perfume seems to love some heat and between the breasts, it's quite a personal pleasure trip. How on earth they crammed in a lot of subtlety into this perfume is beyond my comprehension, it's very very clever... like, super sonic clever, like playing a Rachmaninov Piano Concerto at extra extra quiet volume... genius. Is this perfume a mystery or what, I can see it would be very easy to dismiss it, walk away, cry to your bank manager, throw it in the face of your Tom Ford consultant through the laptop screen (social distancing!) start looking for cheap thrills on All Beauty, convince yourself that Light Blue is everything, or reach for the instant thrill of Gucci Rush, but this perfume has its own quiet magic. And if you're the impatient type, or someone who thought Chloe (Lagerfeld) and Chloe Narcisse was an every day shower fresh scent... or you're someone who wants their perfume to smell like a perfect mathematical equation, you're not going to want this. If, however, you want to amuse yourself and have a laugh, try and get a small decant and enjoy the perverse pleasure of this extremely complex perfume, in the privacy of your own lunch time, it's not going to set the world on fire, but it's freaking worth getting a small bit to see what we're talking about here. It's a beautiful piece of complex magic but a very hefty expensive magic if you're playing the full price. p.s. i tried a layer of Miss Dior roller ball concentration on top of this tiny lime fiesta ... and I've also tried a heavy spritz of Dyptique Eau Rose over Azure Lime too... surprise yourselves, you know you want to ;-)

First and foremost: I think Tom Ford is a pretentious man who thinks a bit too highly of himself, his designs and what not; however, he has (with his work for other Houses, and some of his own) proven he totally has the right to be so...THAT being said, onto the review! *Thanks to Pitbull Friend for the sample vial!* Azure Lime begins with an amazingly light and crisp citrus accord (lime? oh yes, but also with some grapefruit/yuzu and some light orange) opening rather brightly and also quite refreshing. It has some juiciness with zest (peel oils) resulting in a sweet dry freshness, bordering on sour but it never quite crosses over, rather nice! Repeated sniffs of my hand give me lovely wafts of citruses and some dry and warm flowers (neroli? jasmine?) underneath. I have NO idea why this is listed as a "floral woody musk" other than the listed notes INCLUDE "flowers, woods and musk". To me, it is a very elegant citrus eau de cologne type scent with the volume raised and the bass turned down a bit. As it continues, on my skin, it does get a bit woodier and also somewhat musky (though never anywhere near animalic). Elegant, but not all that "fancy", Azure Lime is (as others have already said) rather nice; but DOES have some similarities with many other "high end" FRESH men's scents. What it does do, however, is last much longer than most of them though its sillage is rather soft (not weak). You have to get very close, after it has dried completely, to get the "goods". Woody? A bit...Floral? I guess...Musky? In the best possible way. *winks* This scent is definitely very well-done. I LIKE it, for sure; but do not LOVE it (unlike some of the darker more earthy Private Blends). Let's put it like this: EVERY guy should have a nice crisp clean cotton button-down shirt. THIS is like that...do you really need to spend THAT much on a plain old shirt, especially if it is under a vest or blazer??! Sillage: good then closer Longevity: good Overall: 3.75/5 Very nice? Oh yes indeed! Worth the asking price? Nah!! I do think if you really like citrus scents with a bit "more" that have a bit more longevity than most, try a sample for yourself. I can think of many other scents that smell JUST as good and cost considerably less than Azure Lime. My very first impression? AdP Colonia meets Green Irish Tweed for margaritas on the beach... EDIT: Maybe an hour after posting this review, I resniffed my hand and have decided to "up" the rating for this fragrance from 3.0 to 3.75. YEAH, it's like that!! The dry down is the very best part of this scent. Woody, just enough musk...and so very sexy!! Tom Ford has (once again, it seems) made me eat my words...

if price were no object for me I would already be buying this. This is truly one of the best smelling citrus based fragrances I have sniffed, again price point will always be a factor for me and I need to find value in fragrances as most people would. When I think of all the fragrances I have amassed over the last couple of years I could have cut out two or 3 others and just purchased this, but that is how this deal goes for me. Just getting around to trying it. Not again! If I had known you were going to come along I would have waited for you. You should have sent me an email 3 years ago Mr. Ford warning me you had this fragrance up your sleeve. I think what sends me over the top is their splendid use of musk that extends the depth of this citrus fragrance. Does not last long enough though, but I sort of expect that. i have not had too many citrus fragrances that do. This is a shame but while Azure Lime is in its opening moments right out of the nozzle is so pleasing. Another one of their private blends that I love.. I have enjoyed spraying this one on my arm and sniffing it in, ok one more spray. definite unisex, falls into the category of smelling well is smelling well. On a woman I would say did you just get out of the shower sweetie? If you are a citrus fan it is hard to not recommend sampling this. In the new version of The Great Gatsby, there is a scene where the character Wolf something says to Jay Gatsby " You always smell so good! " This is what I would imagine he smelled of, it is so good..

A pleasant combination of lime and woods, Tom Ford Azure Lime is one of the better warm weather-leaning Private Blend fragrances, and seems to be generally well-liked while not a fan favorite. Some get limes (and only limes) out of it, and for a lime-intensive fragrance, one can certainly do better by price via Tommy Bahama Set Sail St. Barts. I get more, though---Azure Lime is relatively subdued and sophisticated, but an agreeable blend of limes with mainly woody notes, as well as some musk. Beyond that, there's not much complexity to describe, which is perhaps a detraction though in this case I do not intend it to bed. Sometimes a simple summer fragrance is ideal when the weather forces it to project, unlike a winter fragrance that gains an advantage by having many layers to be peeled when it's so cold out (i.e. Tom Ford London). Neither a projection nor longevity monster, but on par with the other warm weather Tom Ford Private Blend fragrances that I've tried (Costa Azzurra, Mandarino di Amalfi, Neroli Portofino, Rive D'Ambre). Understandably, some might feel robbed, relative to the strength of Tobacco Vanille or Tuscan Leather, but I always find the cold/warm weather differential to be relevant in composing a fragrance. Certainly one of the more pleasant entries that needs to be nabbed soon since I've been told repeatedly by reps that it is being discontinued (as is Italian Cypress). 8 out of 10

This is a nostalgic scent for me... my grandfather smelled like this all the time and i really loved how fresh and luxurious he smelled.. perhsps because of his age it suited him pefectly. So for me this is a beautiful thing as im on a hunt for extra bottles .. not retail ofcourse hehe.. Anyways the smell is a classic Mediterranean smell and indeed reminds you of azure. Like the other azure this is based on a Mediterranean inspired profile. You can find any of these types of scents very cheap around there, which means that Tom Ford is not a cheap thing at all.. I think they inspire other regions to get lost with their senses in the azure.. beautiful and inspiring art! Blast of pure smashed lemons and citrons.. with a musky base and a sandalwood which pops trough the journey.. like a shaving cream but someone added a juicy lemon on top of it.. that's exactly the smell how I would describe this. Anyways for me a emotional meaning so I'm biased by giving it a 10. Performance is pretty good on me: 6 hours with 2 hours of projecting good. In the heat it projects better and sticks days on fabrics.

Testing a sample from from a retail store (Nordstrom exclusive re-relese) and it's great in the summer heat 🫒. The opening is a lime accord that is pretty good but short lived, and then comes in the agathosma. The best way I can describe agathosma on my skin is a blend of corriander (but less pungent) mixed with vetiver (but less rooty) and seasoned with something green and sulphuric. Slightly spicy, almost like green onion, but made palatable for wearing as a fragrance. I think it's great and unique, but others make not get the nuances if you're not a fragrance nerd like me. The drydown maintains some of that African agathosma, but add in some light woods and a clean musk. Smells different than norm hot weather frags,but not wildly complex. Green and unique, but not exotic. I wouldn't feel out of place wearing this during casual activities like running errands or even to the office. Really like this one so far. Performance seems about average so far. Scent 7.7/10 Performance TBD

I love lime scents in my cologne portfolio, and this has to be #1 if not right there adjacent for me. And unlike many quality citrus frags, this has respectable longevity and definitely solid sillage. I honestly would prefer that it remained a bit more linear; I'm not looking for florals when I'm buying a lime or citrus frag, but I think Azure Lime does it better than say, Bohemian Lime which I've tried so hard to like but the floral notes in that one's drydown just churn my stomach. Incredible blast of realistic lime citrus off the top, as realistic as Renaissance or Nio which is saying something. And dries into a pretty nice fougere or barber-esque fragrance. Price is contemptuous of course being a TF, but maybe you can find one second hand. Don't know that I can compel myself to spend $200+ on anything under 100-125ml of a niche that I absolutely love anymore.

just finished my bottle ,and was overjoyed as i picked up a bottle on ebay for £80 crisis averted for another while .better start looking now for next one !why stop this ? love it ,there is a few other TFs that should be discontinued but for me not this reminds me of the time i spent on Santorini with an old Girl friend 20 year ago, high heat cool white wine, white cotton shirt white linen table clothe big September moon just rising ahh well theirs always the next life .here's hoping .PS ON THE GAGA COMPARISONS the gaga starts with lime yes but 30 secs later it turns to the drydown of a cheap frag my 87 year old mum used to wear pleasant enough but just smells cheap ,the givency i haven't tried .

The name does not disappoint it’s this lime note at the top it’s sharp sexy then the clean fresh note comes in completing the Perfect summer fragrance but sadly it’s falls short longevity is terrible it takes the water note literally and last about 45 minutes to a hour I put this on and drive to school was already gone was a skin scent at the most and for 300$ just unacceptable But something about it is special it’s like when cocaine was in coca-Cola I can’t stop smelling it It almost makes me forget how bad the longevity is trust me try this don’t just try it once but buy a sample because this shit smells like 4th of July in the best way possible enough yapping

wow, lime. not that i'm surprised, but still....wow, lime. someone else already wrote that tom ford is very honest in the name of this fragrance, and that's for sure (unlike the name "japon noir", which i love, but what does that name tell you?). i resisted azure lime for a long time because lime is my least favorite citrus note. sure enough, the first hour or so is all gimlet. i love a gimlet, just not on my skin. but then the woody, musky drydown is heavenly for hours. if you like citrus/musk, jalaine also offers an oil version which is absolutely gorgeus and a little less zesty/tart and more feminine.

This is a really beautiful barbershop lime fragrance for men. I smell basically a tart yet slightly sweet lime with hints of mint, and that's basically it. The overall impression is very refreshing and very realistic to the scent of lime (does not smell like lime Jello or candy at all). Sillage is moderate (more on the lighter side actually) while longevity is also moderate but on the weaker side, which is to be expected from a lime fragrance (this is actually one of the stronger ones). Overall a very beautiful concoction that was discontinued by Tom Ford. 4/5

This was the first frag from the private line I tested and although I liked it, it quickly took a back seat to the powerhouses like Noir de Noir and Tuscan Leather. My conclusion was that this was a light weight and that the juice wasn't worthy of the price. I've done a complete 180 on this one. This is the best spring/summer fragrance I've tested.Period. Because the price is high and because I love the house of Givenchy I'm going to try Insense Summer and see if I'm satified with that, but If not I may just have to bite the bullet and buy Azure Lime.

Lovely citrus-musk-herbicious scent that I love, but not particularly at this premium price. The quality might be higher than some others but alas definitely not in term of longevity and silage. The on skin was only three hours albeit a much longer on clothing longevity of over twenty four hours.

I love layering this on top of 2 different fragrances in summertime: Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille or Creed Virgin Island Water By itself, it's okay, but not my thing really. It is well done regardless. Although, I can't speak for it's re-release as I've only had the original formula.

My signature scent. I knew the moment I saw the name of this one I had to have it. Lime is one of my favorite notes and it’s in excellent form here. Only downside is it struggles with projection and only lasts a few hours. An absolutely solid fragrance.

Hands down this is my favorite one, just found out its UNISEX, some co workers asked me if it was a mans perfume when I was spraying the paper sample, that didn't stop me because I do believe its the best one... Then second place for champaca absolute!

Fortunately I have the brown bottle formula and at the time it wasn’t nearly as pricey as it is now. It’s a beautiful scent of lime of course but it’s performance is weak as fk. I layer it with Tuscan Leather which smells fantastic together.

Azure lime is a hidden gem. Its solid realistic lime. Masculine fresh and perfect for summer. Longevity is moderate 3-5 hours and sexy fresh scent. Give it a shot. It is very good. People like to hate on it because they dont have good taste.

Yeah this fragrance impressed me, it smells awesome, definitely the sexiest lime fragrance I've smelled but it isn't going to make it to my collection, performance it's absolutely abismale I can imagine anybody acually smelling this on you

I've tested this twice and was really impressed by the longevity. The lime also stays around during most of the dry down. A little too generic men's designer-ish for my taste and overpriced, but a nice fragrance.

@LuckyStar1 the bottle will be close to Sol di Positano type. Wonder if it will be out in a 250ml version cuz I only saw the picture of the 50ml version.

They're not really charging $290 for 50 mls are they? That's obscene. This was overpriced when it was $160/ 50ml.

This is a very nice fragrance, it is over priced for what it is, but its good i also like the name but i believe the 'Azure' is misleading. Tom Ford Fragrances have great names but some are misleading. Its starts with a burst of sharp fresh citrus predominantly lime which quickly fades after about a minute, becoming a more mellow lime which smells very nice and natural for about 1-2 hours, after you get the woody notes which mix with the lime given it a very green, wet wood type smell with the lime still there. this lasts for about 3-5 hours. then it dries down and has this clean salty, mossy type smell which is quite unique the only way i can describe it is if anyone has been to the beach on a very hot,humid and windy day when you can really smell the salt in the air its like that. when it fades you are left with this woody musky base with subtle lime in the background. this fragrance reminds me of spring, or a horrible day to go to the beach. This is not like 'Neroli Portofino' at all, its a slightly more complex green, citrus, salty, mossy,woody, musky fragrance as opposed to a generic citrus cologne fragrances. saying that it still has a slight generic feel to it but not 'Portofino' generic. overall a very good fragrances in my opinion perfect for warm fall days or spring/summer, its very well blended and has good projection and longevity 6+ hours. 7.5/10

Was initially going for something heavier for winter. Sprayed tobacco vanille on one wrist, and azure lime on the other (I liked the colour of the bottle). After a few hours I decided I liked the lime more. It opens fresh (my wife says minty and doesn’t like the opening at all) and to be fair she has a point, the strong citrus at the beginning is what I like the least. After about half an hour it changes to something much warmer with the woods and musk coming into their own. All of this with this faint lime accord running constantly through. I’m 50 and in the last few years I’ve moved considerably to the fresher end of the scale, this is probably lovely in summer, but for summer I can think of better options (kilian kologne, the orange or bergamot spugnatura’s for instance). It’s winter here in Belgium and I’m enjoying azure lime as pick me up, and it works for me in this season as the drydown wood and musk are warming. In some ways it’s like colonia Intensa with its old school barbershop vibe. For me masculine and perfect for my age bracket. As usual, hideous price point for private blend, but there’s an originality and undeniable enjoyability to this scent that made me swipe my card.

Call me pedictable but I love a good citrus fragrance with a woody, musky base and that's exactly what this is. The best citrus fragrance I've ever tried in fact. It has so much zing it quite simply has to be smelled to be believed. It's not just lime though, it's a wonderful blend of citrus fruits and you get them all...It should be called Azure sublime really! A few people saying it's like Neroli Portofino...can't see that myself, other than it being fresh and having some citrus in. Oh and the bottles are very similiar. ;) Although I love citrus scents... is this really original enough? I don't doubt there's other more affordable options out there and some that stand up to this or are indeed better so I won't be rushing to get it. The only thing you need to know is that the Tom Ford private collection is great and Azure Lime is no exception.

I have to well and truly eat my words on this one. I have a proper sample now and after recent wears have discovered that neroli is obviously a key component in this fragrance but I wouldn't class it as a white floral scent. The neroli has to be there to compliment the lime and give a clean feel but also as a key for the citrus to grip on to and prolong their scent. This works very well and I get decent longevity from it but I've changed my mind about wanting this fragrance in my collection, and that's simply because of the price. It's always been something of a sticking point about Tom Ford scents but if something's worth it, it's worth it. Unfortunately this is not quite worth £140 for me but I have to say Azure Lime's dry down is very nice and above all very masculine, at least on my skin anyway.

This is for the original iteration before it was discontinued and brought back: This is very dry. Like a vodka & tonic with a squeeze of lime or bergamot. And I get a slight note of oakmoss in the base, even though it's not listed above. Slightly salty too. Because of the lack of sweetness, drier "green" citruses, and oakmoss note in the base, I would definitely say this leans masculine. The ingredients (at least for the original version) do smell of high quality. An "old money" summer citrus cologne. No sweet, bright flowery or "tropical" notes. I can definitely picture a lad in his convertible, sunglasses on, driving on the coast wearing this. More stark and straight edge than it's more unisex companions Neroli Portofino and Mandarino di Amalfi.

My SA at Nordstrom (Nordstrom exclusive, at least for now) had a pre-release bottle so my son and I had a chance to test it today. Expected to be announced officially June 1. The bottle is clear greenish blue, similar to several of the other PB line. It smells similar to the original, but feels more floral on top. Sillage and longevity are what you would expect from a citrus-centered scent: good projection from my wrist for like an hour and then a skin scent. It was delightful to try, but at current PB pricing there’s no way I’d buy a bottle at retail. It is nice that they’re unvaulting some of the older scents. My vote is for Moss Breches or London to be unvaulted next.

Although it’s really a scent for summer days, I love putting this on in cold winter mornings. I find the refreshing blast of lime is wonderfully awakening and blasts away the winter blues with the promise of holidays in warmer climes. To be honest, it lacks complexity to my untrained nose - I just get lots of lime at first, then a faint background of florals and woods. Like all citrus frags, longevity is poor. Not one of Tom Ford’s finest creations, it’s hardly very original either, but I happen to love lime. What’s more I need all the help I can get to wake up on a cold winter morning!

Its a crisp citrus fragrance with flower and wood note. and thats it. however, theres a bit of uniqueness in this one, maybe cuz quality ingredient were used. it can't be compare with neroli portofino(NF) because NF is far more complex and beautiful compare to azure lime. Ratings Projection 7/10 Longevity very poor 5/10 Uniqueness 6/10 Its a decent citrus fragnance with poor longevity. I it doesn't worth buying for £145. PS: dry down is the best part of this fragrance.

This is my first review. I've been wearing this all day, and I'm disappointed. I was so excited to get this, but on my skin, it's a very linear lime that fades after a couple of hours. I've been looking for a summer "signature scent" and I really hoped that this would be it. I don't get any of the other notes, except maybe a generic wood, but definitely not musk or floral. I envy those whose skin amplifies the "hidden" notes.

Beautiful citrus lime opening, slightly fougere in the beginning, around an hour it develops into a softer powdery musk/woodsy scent with whiffs of lime every now and then. Low to moderate longevity, would not pay full retail for it but for the right price it is a very nice and unique summer citrus. Masculine leaning, 7.5/10 overall. Purchased from: Ebay

Azure Lime is just sweet lemons squeezed with a touch of florals. The fragrance opens up with sharp citrus which quickly turns to slightly sweet citrus and projects for 4-5 hours. For a very basic composition like this one cannot expect more than 5 hrs longevity as the fixative musk is also mild.

Nice every day scent, nothing too incredible about it but a nice citrus frag. It definitely has some depth and doesn't just smell citrusy but honestly? I wouldn't pay £158 for this one. I received a sample today so I'm enjoying it but definitely not worth full price. Not my fave Tom Ford.

Expensive for what it is, but regardless, it's a nice strong realistic lime and citrus opening which dries down after 2 or so hours to a subtle but elegant woody and slightly citrusy / musky scent that ever so lightly projects within arms reach.

Very nice citrus from TF. I do enjoy heavy lime frags tho..This and Set Sail St. Barts are summer go-to's for sure! Smells very natural and has more than just the citrus underneath to hold it up. I would only wear this in 75+ degree weather.

By far and above the best Lime scent I've come across! A very fresh, unexpected spin to timeless essences. There are Vibrant citrus notes, sophisticated florals, warm woods and sensual musk that evoke an easy elegance and relaxed style.

Starts off fresh and linear, like photorealistic lime. The woody, musky undertone is okay. Can use a touch more sweetness. The scent gets a little bitter as it wears. Very unisex. I want to smell like a damn lime, damn it 🍋.

The opening is a blast of fresh, realistic lime. It then dries down into masculine woody notes. Nothing groundbreaking, but in my opinion, it’s better than Mandarino di Amalfi.

Reminds me of the green classic Polo from the 1980s. Classic male leaning scent. Fresh and clean, collegiate, preppy. Smells like aftershave more than a high end fragrance.

It smells like a strong lime fragrance, do yourself and your wallet a favor by passing this. Dior Homme Sport does this much better for much cheaper.

Quite nice, it uses alot of the same citrus notes used in grey vetiver. This is more woody and musky, GV is vetiver and vanillic nutmeg
