Beau De Jour Eau de Parfum

Beau de Jour is a 10/10 masterpiece. Best of Class. The best Aromatic Fougere in my "barbershop" Fougere collection, which includes Penhaligon Sartorial, Tom Ford Fougere D'Argent, MDCI Invasion Barbare, YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme, At the Barbers, Azzaro Pour Homme, Davidoff Zino, etc. But whereas many of the others, like Rive Gauche, seem to smell like an amalgamation of products a barber might actually apply to the back of a neck, Beau de Jour seems to be more of a highly concentrated, "perfumy", abstracted Ode to the vintage genre. It's the beauty of the aromatics, the herbal contributions, blended masterfully with the rich lavender and sweet, rich, creamy amber, that sets Beau de Jour apart. There are two varieties of lavender notes, and the lavendin variety has 10 times the camphoration of the regular lavender. This imparts an overall slight camphoration, that when combined with the mint note creates a mentholation accord. This must also create the licorice or anise accord that some people smell. This is a modern interpretation of vintage, with the modernity due mostly to the amber. As someone above posted, "classic fougere perfumery modernized by sweet rich amber, which empowers the structure of the fragrance". Amber should be a listed accord on this page featuring prominently in the accord stack, but for some reason is not. The recently released ARC by Mallo, which is very similar to Beau de Jour, has a prominently listed Amber accord. This does have a superficial similarity to Davidoff Zino, and as was pointed out in the new book The Ghost Perfumer, Zino was the inspiration for this. But Zino comparatively is like a two dimensional scent, whereas BdJ comes to life in three dimensions with beautiful aromatics. In doing so BdJ becomes a much different fragrance. The Basil, rosemary, and especially the mint's sweet mentholated contributions blended in a thick, rich lavender bed. This aromatic Fougere is a modern, superbly crafted, well blended beauty that harkens back to the halcyon days of the 1890's when barbershops served as community centers, where men would gather for social and musical activities with barbers traditionally being musicians. I apply Beau de Jour and I'm transported to an 1891 barbershop chair, reclined back with a thick minty lavender foam enveloping my face, the town's dandy's and other gentlemen sitting, reading their newspapers while patiently waiting their turn. All the while being entertained by a handle bar mustachioed barbershop quartet. Tom Ford's favorite. His vision is Cary Grant's neck. Same same. Elegant. Classy. Sophisticated. Vintage. Those aromatic herbs and lavender, folks. Beautiful. The best of the genre, maybe ever. A modern masterpiece that captures vintage masterfully.

I'm the most refined nose in North America, and I would never come down to mingle with common rabble such as yourself, unless it was for something special. I've been collecting cologne from the age of 16, while you were wearing your commercial cheap bug repellant, I was honing my nose to Geoffrey Beane Bowling Green, and other alpha classics like Burberry London. In other words, I'm cultured beyond years, my nose refinement is at a level so high, even the best have pig snouts compared to me. I walk amongst you commoners for this, I have finally made a decision on "The Crown Jewel" award winner. The best cologne of XxFatalstrifexX personal collection. Its taken many years, and of all the days for me to decide it, it is at the moment you read this. The odds of such fortune are beyond your comprehension. At your best you are crooked coke vacuum when appraising cologne compared to me. Pray to God in thanks for the one in a million chance you've encountered. Stunning, brave and powerful, The Crown Jewel of Cologne is Beau De Jour by Tom Ford. The genius behind it being Antoine Maisondieu. This is for only the finest of men, and combines only the finest ingredients, to create an explosion of Lavender, Patchouli, Mint and Amber the likes of which have never been seen. If she gets nasty its with men who wear this. Limp wristed california soy boys wrapped in beta, and chick's who think they are dudes trapped in a woman's body need not apply, this is for actual MEN. This is how men get hot babes who are down for a good time. If she's a hot tamale this is what will get her hopping. 3 squirts is all you need, don't offend people, this stuff is strong. It was designed with intent of being sprayed one on the neck, one on the chest, and one on the wrist of your weak arm that is then lightly tapped against opposing wrist. That means don't spray anymore to compensate for your lack of understanding, you brain stricken invalid. All that can be said about my conclusion could be summed up with these wise words. This masterpiece smells like what got your dad into your moms pants, to make you happen. Lavender bursts out everywhere, with mint and basil exploding in the multiple waves. Just when she thought she couldn't can't take anymore, Patchouli and Amber show up to take over and finish her off. A surprise ending for sure, but absolutely picture perfect in its delivery, creating you as a result. This cologne literally broke the time space continuum with its notes and willed you into existence. Its an absolute "Blast from the past" so to say.

Tried it at the airport today — bit disappointed at first, then it turned into a stunner. So I sprayed Beau de Jour at the duty-free, half-expecting that rush of lavender everyone raves about. But nope — all I got was this really green, very herbal wall of basil, rosemary, and a bit of mint. Way too prominent. It honestly felt like I was sniffing a chef’s herb garden. Not bad, just... not the lavender dream I’d imagined. Then it hit me — I’d sprayed it way too close. Rookie mistake. You’ve got to give it some space to aerate. So I tried again, proper distance, and wow — there it was. That cool, invigorating lavender I love. Clean, crisp, elegant. Not soapy or powdery, just right. About 30 minutes in, things got interesting. The basil, rosemary and mint mellowed out and wrapped themselves in this slightly sweet floral tone (thanks geranium). It started to smell alive — bright and green but also warm and grounded. Then the oakmoss came in, earthy and smooth, tying it all together in a very polished way. Like “expensive shaving cream” but in the best possible sense. It’s definitely more structured and serious than some of my other lavender favourites — like a sharply dressed gentleman who surprises you with a dry joke. Clean, aromatic, but with warmth and a slightly bitter backbone that keeps it from ever going too soft. Longevity is solid (I'd say 6-8h on skin, way longer on clothes), and projection is respectable without screaming. This isn’t a loud scent, but it is confident. It’s not a scent that hugs you — it nods from across the room, knowing it doesn’t need to try hard. Very masculine, but also very refined. Would I buy a full bottle? Possibly, but I’d want to try it on skin again in cooler weather. It’s definitely something I’d reach for when I want to feel put together but not overdone. Fans of classic fougères will appreciate this, but it’s got enough modern touches to feel current. And honestly, once that lavender opens up properly, it’s beautiful. Tip: Spray from a distance. Trust me. Don’t suffocate it — let it breathe.

When it comes to fragrance I like to be pretty selective with what I choose to buy bottles of. Don't get me wrong I have small bottles of fragrances I wear for specific occasions, but generally nowadays I really only buy a fragrance if I'm in love with it. I don't like clutter so any fragrance I don't wear often enough I sell or get rid of. All of this preamble is to say, I own 2 bottles of Beau De Jour and I won't hesitate to buy another 2. This to me is a masterpiece and it's heartbreaking to hear of its discontinuation. I cannot get enough of this fragrance. I wear it everywhere. I've spent quite a bit of time trying to find my 24/7 365 fragrance, and this has beat out everything. I've tried fragrances from every designer, niche, and ultra niche house and nothing clicks with me the way this does. This fragrance opens up with a hefty amount of sharp strong lavender. It's uplifting and invigorating. As the lavender dies down it unveils beautiful smooth aromatic notes of soft mint, earthy moss notes, and hints of geranium. Finally in the dry down you'll get notes of patchouli and moss with a slight bit of mintyness. It's beautiful, classy, and undeniably masculine. The age of Aromatic Fougeres is long gone. Now I feel the most popular fragrances have a synthetic bubblegummy sweetness to them, popularized by JPG in the 90s. The modern synthetic, sweet, ambroxan-bomb fragrances do smell good undeniably but have never entirely been my style (some exceptions of course). This fragrance smells more natural, earthy, and for better or worse it stands out in a room full of modern men's fragrances, despite being a recent release itself. This is a fragrance deserving of more love than it was afforded in its short run of availability. I only wish I found out about it sooner. This fragrance is, and will continue to be, my go to for the foreseeable future. While my collection may be dense, I dont see myself ever losing my love for this instant classic. Hopefully one day they bring it back.

If you repeat a lie 100 times, will it become a truth? Rumour BdJ is discontinued has been roaming for almost an year already, while the fragrance is still listed and available for purchase on Tom Ford's UK website. Yes, the 50 ml bottle is no longer available, and the US website does not offer BdJ currently - but is that enough to call it game over? I just bought a 100 ml bottle from a German retailer, it cost me 120 euro, the scent is currently offered by at least 20-25 other German retailers, so far away from vanishing. The batch code on my bottle is A95, that's September 2025, literally it just hopped off the production line. The scent itself varied a lot through the different tester bottles I've tried through the years, from barely noticeable to mega projecting beast, which influenced my decision to postpone pulling the trigger. Until now. Luckily, the juice in my bottle turned out to be quite potent, awesome longevity, with a very pronounced, velvety soft amber drydown - it's all you can ask from a good fougere, and more. It is indeed a refined cousin of Zino by Davidoff, which I also own, appreciate and use quite often, the latter being more rugged, old school and synthetic, with decent longevity, but rather poor projection. BdJ is much more polished, softer, with more going on in terms of scent development, I would say sophisticated and elegant. It is both OG and up-to-date smelling, while Zino is strictly OG, badly reformulated territory. A layering of both at 3:1 sprays in favour of BdJ would give you the best of both worlds, while keeping the scent bubble classy and expensive. A staple in every gentleman's collection, especially when you have a soft spot for fougeres.

Beau de Jour opens with a blast of natural-smelling lavender that succeeds at being both invigorating and calming. Under the lavender, various greenery can be detected which adds a much appreciated layer to an otherwise simple scent profile. In the base, Beau de Jour becomes rather earthy with patchouli, subtly sweetened by an amber accord. I find this combination to be quite addictive, and I don't find myself yearning for the opening as I often do with other fragrances when they dry down. Another thing that makes Beau de Jour great is the performance. Most modern fougere-style fragrances are quite average in performance compared to the classic/vintage counterparts. However, while Beau de Jour is not a nuke, it is quite potent. It lasts 10+ hours on my skin, projecting very well for the first 2-3+ hours even with as little as 3 sprays. It sits in that sweet spot where it's strength allows for a great wearing experience without choking out everybody in the room. Overall, Beau de Jour is an excellent release that credits earlier fougere-style fragrances as it's inspiration, but executes it perfectly for the modern day. My only nitpick is that I wish the oakmoss and patchouli were a little more prominent here as they feel rather tame for my liking. I assume that the private blend version of Beau de Jour featured more of these notes, but was tuned down in the signature release with the goal of becoming more approachable to the average person. Either way, whether you are a person who is looking to explore fougeres, or already love the style, Beau de Jour is sure to satisfy. Just make sure you like lavender- there's a lot in here :)

My recent quest for the ultimate "barbershop"/ freshly groomed / shaving cream manly scent is finally over. When I was a kid, I used to go to this barbershop where at the conclusion of your haircut, the barber would dispense this hot, creamy shaving lather from some kind of machine pump and apply it to your neck and then give you a shave with a straight-edge razor. I remember it smelling so good and manly and fresh. I have been on a quest to try and find a scent that replicates that. That quest took the form of Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, Skin Bracer, Dior Eau Sauvage EDT and Parfum, Azzaro, Masculin Pluriel, and others. Then, I finally found Beau de Jour. I don't know why I slept on this for so long. This is an absolute masterpiece in masculine fragrance. After the bright opening, it gives way to a wonderfully creamy shaving lather scent that literally lasts all day. It smells so good and fresh - like a man just climbing out of a barber's chair. I've heard it's discontinued, but I also hear it's back up on Tom Ford's website. I don't know. What I do know is that I love this scent so much that upon discovery, I immediately sourced and secured a backup 100ml bottle. I want to hoard it. To me, this is signature scent worthy. Great for the office. Great for waking up on a Saturday morning with excitement for what the day holds. I applied it at 5am and caught whiffs of it all day long. At 4pm, I can still smell the rich creaminess of it on my skin. I'm a male in my 40's, and for me, this is easily a 10/10 scent. Masterpiece.

A while back I was looking to add my first fougere to the collection, every video on every social media platform I did my "research" on included this one. So, I gave it a try at my local Sephora, and I really liked it. It was everything I was looking for in a fougere, but I didn't wanna cough up the $300 (CAD) retail. Not too long ago, I'm scrolling through the reviews on fragrantica, and everyone's saying that TF is discontinuing Beau de jour! that was enough for me to pull the trigger on this one. Thankfully, a perfume sale store was still selling it, and I was able to buy a tester for like 50% of the retail price. And... It's still really fkn good. A modern fougere. It's most definitely a lavender focused fragrance with undertones of oakmoss and herbal notes. The dry down is my favorite, the lavender is still the focus, but now there is an emphasis on the soapy shaving cream, reminiscent of a barbershop. I love fragrances with a shaving cream vibe, idk why. Imagine walking out of a barbershop with a fresh cut and a shave, feeling good asf. That's what this fragrance smells like to me. Performance is alright as well, 5-6 hours on skin, 7-8 on clothes. Seeing as this is likely getting discontinued, I will use this sparingly, for when I want to enter my most gentlemanly self. Because that what this smells like. A gentleman. TF cooked with this one, sad to see it go. 8.5-9/10

Years ago I decided I was not going to buy this one, for two reasons: on one hand, because I had already bought Zino by Davidoff because it was said to be an amazing patchouli, and I found it to be kind of underwhelming at first, and then the second reason being because I didn’t feel like it had that true Tom Ford magic that I love in fragrances like my beloved Black Orchid. Why did I change my mind? Mostly because of the rumors that it was getting discontinued and the fanboy in me got FOMO. Plus, the price seemed to drop and I figured that it was worth it at this point. After all, even though Zino might not really be my thing, it does give me compliments, and I do really like a barbershop fragrance. Having both now, I do feel that there’s differences in the wearing experiences between Zino and Beau de Jour: BDJ is much fresher and ‘lighter’ to me. Ironic, seeing as Zino is supposed to be an EDT compared to BDJ being an EDP. Beau de Jour seems much brighter, having that fresh spicy thing going for itself, being much more herbal, as opposed to Zino which is much more woody. Beau de Jour is beautiful and bright, and long lasting. One thing that it does have over other Tom Ford fragrances is that I think this one very much so is crowd pleasing. Ironic that it would then be discontinued. I’m happy to have it in my collection.

This is a beautiful modern and aromatic take on the classic fougére style. The opening hits you with very strong herbal and spicy notes (I always get the spicy banana bread-vibe just without being sweet), the lavender is stellar in this one, but once the initial hit wears a bit off the rosemary takes over and shines as the star of this fragrance. It's very masculine, very elegant but still has a modern vibe so it won't be "old money", but a younger rich guy feel to it. The woody backbone gives it a very good longevity, and the whole composition is balanced and very high quality. The classic barbershop/shaving cream notes are there from the opening to the drydown, and what gives a unique twist is the ambery notes in the drydown together with a very nice, not too overpowering patchouli accord. On my skin it's easily 10-12 hours, projection is also solid in the first 3-4 hours, then it gradually sits closer and closer to the skin, but even after the 10-hour mark it's noticeable if someone leaned closer. I'd say it's more dressed up than dressed down, though it's quite versatile and could be worn in any kind of weather, as it doesn't have any overly sweet notes. One of the best Tom Ford fragrances I've come across so far and a timeless classic.

Tom Ford’s Beau de Jour is everything I love about a classic barbershop fougère brought into modern times. The opening bursts with fresh lavender, aromatic and slightly sharp, immediately setting a clean yet commanding tone. As it settles, layers of rosemary, basil, and a touch of mint add brightness and herbal depth, giving it that perfectly groomed, gentlemanly feel. The dry down smooths out beautifully with oakmoss, patchouli, and amber, warm, earthy, and grounding while keeping the lavender halo intact. It never feels dated or stuffy, instead it’s refined, confident, and polished, like a crisp white shirt paired with a tailored suit. Performance is solid, with moderate projection that creates an elegant aura rather than a loud statement. It lasts a good 7 to 8 hours on me, and the sillage is tasteful, lingering just enough to leave an impression without overwhelming. Beau de Jour is versatile, but it really shines in cooler weather or formal settings. It’s a fragrance that feels timeless, a bridge between the vintage masculines and the sleek style of modern Tom Ford. If you enjoy aromatic fougères, this is one of the finest interpretations out there.

I blind bought this because it got discontinued (if this was a marketing ploy then it's a genius one). Glad that I did, and kinda bummed i only found a 50ml and not a 100ml bottle. This is real simple and great: fresh lavender, that's just the right amount of aromatic/spicy (due to basil, rosemary, i presume) to make it interesting. Green, herbal and tangy/acidic, without being citrusy. No sharpness, no roundness, this is like straight up comforting and quality herbal soap (but NOT blue like shower gel). Scent is strong and pronounced. Not breezy/airy - it's opaque with aroma. This is NOT as "sophisticated" or original or off-the-main-road like TF's Fougere D'argent (which btw has worse performance than this one), and it has nothing brown or warm about it. It's mass appeal to virtually any human nose, imho - and immediately recognizable as the epitome of "classy masculine clean" - due to how much it adheres to classic formulae. Expertly balanced. Excellent daily driver. UPDATE: only thing bothering me is the longevity - I spray it on 8am, by 1pm it's gone without a trace. Maybe I need to spray more.

Got a brand new bottle of BDJ recently. I'm usually not a big fan of fougeres but this one is REALLY good and probably the best of the barbershop type fragrances! Herbal, fresh a bit earthy and very masculine scent with that oh so amazing rosemary note, which adds a bit of spiciness and compliments the lavander perfectly! Projection is very good, however longevity is on the moderate side and leaves something to be desired. That may be the case since it's new, so I'll let it macerate and see if performance improves over time. I've heard some people say it's a very old smelling scent, that you should only wear if you're 50+. BULLSHIT! If you're a fan of fougeres, classic masculine fragrances, or just nice fresh scents in general, you can definitely pull this off - whether you're in your 20s or your 80s.That being said, I do agree it might be a bit too mature for someone in their teens, who's still in highschool. Might not be everyone's cup of tea but I love it! Overall an amazing, clean, old-money daytime scent! Real shame if it's getting discontinued.

Tom Ford Beau De Jour in 2026. Every time I go back to this fragrance I fall in love with it all over again. This is simply favourite TF scent of all-time, my signature scent, my confidence-booster, what I imagine a luxurious middle-aged man to smell like. I wear this and my outfit feels complete, I feel new and in control. This is what a good fragrance can do to you and why I enjoy the art of perfumery. Beau De Jour is lavender on lavender while also providing herbal/aromatic undertones, to compliment the entire experience. The notes list may suggest a more green scent, but to me, it's lavender and rosemary which I pick up the most. This is a blend of modern fougeres mixed with something that could've dropped in the 80's and still passed, and a standout release in the sea of gourmand releases plaguing every Designer house. There is no lavender done better in any other fragrance, it is the greatest fougere of all-time and a large reason to why I love finding fresh spicy fragrances. 10/10 in longevity, scent, sillage.

The Chronicles of Kapow or The Ultimate Fragrance Buyer’s Guide Until I Find a More Pompous Title: Entry Number 20 Sadly, it is at risk of being discontinued. Try to grab a bottle while you still can. It is a shame. It will be missed once it will be gone. It really deserves all the praise. I think Tom Ford did not put enough effort in the marketing for this one. It is one of the timeless gem of its genre. Sure, it recalls Zino (and I like Zino), but this one is much more composed and refined, deeply and simply elegant while Zino has something rough. Beau De Jour is mature, confidently elegant, fresh, spicy with a soapy lavender I did not expect to like this much. It has a natural charm, a strengh that does not have to raise its voice to dominate the room. In my book: a solid A. It fells short for a distinction. Maybe, it is not original enough, but it does not pretend to be. It is just very well made and it works perfectly.

Oh, Beau de Jour! It hits everything just right for me. Clean, earthy, powerful, and so very masculine, what's not to love? Apparently, Nordstrom and Tom Ford's website both had sales on Beau de Jour at the same time, and this has led people to allege that Beau de Jour is discontinued, which would be a tragedy of our times if true. I contacted Tom Ford's Customer Care, and they've said that it is expected to be back in stock later this month. They didn't explicitly say that it hasn't been discontinued, but I reckon it's likely still in production if they're getting more stock in. This stuff is one of my most worn, most loved fragrances. I hope everyone can at least get their nose on it (on skin!). Please let me know if you guys have any other information! EDIT: It did not come back into stock by the end of June. I wonder why they would say that then. Discontinuation seems likely I guess. My sorrow is immense.

A solid performing, all year, any occasion scent. A wonderful mix of the traditional Fougere-barbershop genre with a healthy dose of the modern. Beautifully done and for me, hands down the best Tom Ford currently available. I'd be amazed if a well dressed man over the age of 30 didn't love Beau de jour. This is an essential in any gents collection, large or small. This is the scent I'd recommend to a guy who wants an all rounder that typifies someone who dresses well, takes care of themselves, a person who has a clear sense of their style. It's a brilliant gateway into the world of barbershop/fougere style perfumery.....well it was for me! The notes are available above, so no need to break them down but I'll summarise by saying it's a slightly above average performer, elegant and attention grabbing modern classic. It's great value for such great fragrance, it's not often you hear that about a TF!

This is one of those easy reaches that just feels right. I usually do three sprays, and it stays with me for about six hours, though it sits close and personal. It is an all-season, laid-back scent for days at home, quick store runs, or the office when I want to smell clean and put together without trying too hard. The scent trail is subtle, but it still gets compliments. It reminds me of being younger and smelling my father after a fresh shave, very comforting and calm. It is not loud at all. To me, this feels more like an extension of good hygiene than a statement fragrance. Some people may not appreciate this given that projection is super important now. As for the intended audience, I am on the younger side, and it works perfectly for my profession, especially when I have a fresh haircut and need to look sharp at work. My bottle is pre-discontinuation, but would give a "newer" bottle a try.

I have been planning to add a classic fougere fragrance to my collection for a long time. I did a lot of research and decided on this one. Omg, couldn't have done better. I've had the bottle for three weeks now and I wear it every day. Love this clean, luxurious, deep feeling. Nice shaving foam opening and then rich herbs, woods and patchouli. The fragrance is suitable for both work and casual environment. Versatility is really surprising. You can wear it anywhere, anytime. It's simply my new thing for summer 2025. Even though it's an old-fashioned style of fragrance, when you use it in the present, it brings a bit of uniqueness. Performance here is not the best, it's more of a close-to-skin scent - 1 to 2 feet of projection. Longevity is okay in my experience. I can still smell the scent after 5-6 hours on me, but like I said, it's not loud. My overall rating is 8.5 - it's just pure class.

Beau De Jour in 2025. I can't see why any man wouldn't enjoy the fougere category since it smells fresh, clean, herbal: It's everything that a confident man should smell like. However I can see why someone may not like Beau De Jour. Some may consider it as herbal and fresh on steroids, the spiciness is amped up in this compared to other fougeres. It's the combination of mint, rosemary and lavender that are incredibly strong, long lasting and pleasing, I can't get enough of this stuff. I don't get amber or anything that isn't fresh, the excess of lavender is what keeps you smelling fresh all day. This is a solid price on discounters, because the quality & longevity make it worth it to me. Longevity: 9/10 Scent: 10/10 When I tried this in 2020, I knew I found something special. ...5 years later and I still have not found a fougere I enjoy as much as this one. Still a 10/10 for me.

TOM FORD BEAU DE JOUR 2/13/22 This is what MOST MEN, over 35, long to smell like on a regular basis! Why? Because it evokes childhood memories of our fathers and grandfathers...in a superb, MODERN way. And deep down inside us...we want to keep that traditional, masculine frame/mindset alive and kicking, so we can pass it down to our sons someday too. I have a 17 yr old son...and this is EXACTLY the scent legacy I want him to remember me by. TF BdJ belongs with THE CLASSICS like...Guerlain Vetiver, Guerlain Habit Rouge, Lapidus PH, JPG Le Male, Terre d'Hermes, Polo Green, Dior Fahrenheit, Chanel Antaeus, Bleu de Chanel, Aventus, Green Irish Tweed, and Tobacco Vanille. I own 100ml and am buying a backup bottle soon before they reformulate it. Lasts a solid 9 hours on my skin. BRAVO Mr. Tom Ford!! Thank you for bringing it to the masses in the signature line.

This, in my opinion, is a modern take on the likes of Lauder for Men from 1985, with much less busy (more modern and streamlines) note pyramid, and more lavender and soapish, barbershopy feel. Not that Lauder for Men didn't withstand the test of time for 40 years, and must be replaced with something modern, it is still being sold so that speaks volumes, and these two aren't even that similar in ingredients, but they're both very strongly masculine aromatic fougéres blended exceptionally well, with a star power longevity and projection for days. Both of their strength is in the dry down for me. I absolutely adore this scent, and I do like simpler lighter summer freshies like Eau D'Orange Verte by Hermes, too. But this soapy fresh yet prominent and kinda heavy and there in your face fragrance just has this je ne sais quoi that I just fell in love with.

Personally, I consider this perfume to be my favourite of all time. It encapsulates my personality in the bottle. This brand has made several steps down in terms of quality of their cosmetics, in my opinion. Estée Lauder made TF so mainstream and commercial demanding astronomical and irrational prices in the same time. However, this is the one of their several olfactory projects which is worth checking out for sure. It was very much inspired by France and classic XX period of Chypre and Fougere perfumes, in my opinion. I like to call it as a modern interpretation of a Fougere. You can get a lot of sweet sparkle from the modern amber base here. The complexity of aromatic notes in the heart and top is very beautiful. Lavender top note has a lot of texture - one of the most beautiful openings I have experienced in perfumes. Brilliant perfumery.

Comparing Beau de Jour to Zino or claiming Zino is an even better substitute for Beau de Jour is so god-damned out of pocket, get a grip. Similar olfactory families, sure, but they just aren't that close. Side-by-side, Zino smells like a pissy geriatric compared to Beau de Jour. Stop trying to convince yourself, pleaseeeeesuh. Beau de Jour is a modern-smelling, high-end fougère that makes good use of trendy notes in the dry down without feeling like you're being clubbed over the head with ambroxan derivatives and ethyl maltol. Yes, it harks back to yesteryear with it's classically French ambery fougère construction, but there isn't anything dated, groatie, or geriatric about it. Women seem to love this, and for good reason, it has all the accords that traditionally appeal to them without smelling like toilet pucks and nonenal odour.

I was able to buy a not so partial partial for a really good price (~$70 for a 90% full 100ml) and I just smelled it for the first time and I’m gonna give my thoughts. Masculine, spicy, a bit sharp, it has that tom ford black orchid DNA while not smelling the same. You can definitely tell it’s a tom ford though. It’s bold and masculine, but there’s some sharp chemical that I don’t like that I’ve smelled in a lot of fragrances. The chemical reminds me of sweat. However, from afar, this fragrance is a phenomenal blend of masculine spiciness and freshness. 7/10 first impressions. Will probably grow on me. Edit; 10 minutes later, it’s phenomenal. What the hell did they put in this 😭 is it fair to give it a 10/10 now? Cause that’s what I want to give it

This is another Masterpiece by Tom Ford ! Rich , Classy, Herbal and Unique. I thought that The Lavender note is dominant in this perfume before testing but it is not. It has High quality composition and well-balanced. In my opinion, Tom Ford Beau de Jour is Modern with the shadow of Classic Scent. It is Similar to Niche Quality. I tried it at Sephora store and I fell in love with it at first sniff. It is on my Radar and I will buy it. It opens up with fresh spicy , Herbal and Green notes in the background then dry down is Green Earthy and Ambery. I really enjoy it and it is perfect for the spring, summer and fall. A stable in my fragrance collection, and one of my most worn. This is for the men who don’t want to follow the trends of sweet bubble gum fragrances or your blue fragrance. This has a classic foundation with a modern edge. This is a scent for a man that is clean and has his stuff together. This the scent that an owner or boss would wear. This is a modern boss’s scent that can work all year. It’s strong but not beast mode. As for longevity, it can give you a solid 8 hours and it stays on clothes for days. I’ve even dry cleaned a shirt and the scent was still there. I remember going into Ubers while doing business in DC and getting compliments. This is my most consistently complimented fragrance.

My favourite fougere and my signature scent. I'm a sucker for lavender and oakmoss, even more if it's paired with such beautiful aromatics as basil and sage. The mint is almost lost in my bottle, it's a weird experience since I could smelled it when I first bought this. The stars of the show are exactly the lavender and leather like oakmoss, just beautiful and thick. Despite being that thick it works really well year round, it withstands the unwavering heat of Buenos Aires and never choked me. For mature audience but please remember, maturity is a state of mind and has nothing to do with age. If anyone has a private blend bottle of this and is selling it, DM me! Enjoy it, i know I will!

Beau de Jour by Tom Ford is one of those fragrances that reminds you what a truly masculine scent is supposed to smell like. Clean, confident, and free from excessive sweetness, it carries a classic masculine DNA that has become increasingly rare in modern perfumery. The lavender and aromatic herbs create a sense of freshness and authority, while the base delivers strong performance and a lasting presence that speaks of character and self-assurance. It doesn’t try to follow trends it defines timeless style. Beau de Jour stands as one of the last true masculine DNA fragrances still available today. A scent for men who want to smell classic, sharp, and undeniably masculine.

This is such a beautiful scent. Especially the opening. It smells as if you had lavener in your garden. The quality is exepcional. And the scent itself is super natural smelling. The resemblance to zino is 20% at best. Totally different scents. The only similarity is dry down on skin which depending on the skin chemistry can be quite close for some but that is all. Overally this is less complex compared to zino but who said more comlex is better. This fragrance knows what it is doing and is great in this field. Some may consider it old fashioned. So it is better to test it on skin before you buy it.

This IS my most admired fragrance that I own. It divides though, you either love it or hate it. Kinda like Polo Green but in a much more sophisticated way. It's more than a barbershop fragrance, this is story telling at its finest. Its a hard worker, its an intellectual, its someone with identity. Very manly, if a woman wore this you'd need to double check her. The scent is very green spicy, very spicy fresh, very naturally green and it dries down to a creamier version of the same scent. Highly recommend testing before buying as this is NOT a safe blind buy. Rate: 10/10 (for a Fougere fragrance)

Glad that I was able to get a bottle of this on a reasonable price. It was in my bucket list anyways, but the rumors/discontinuation made me pull the trigger. Classic fragrance, but with a lot of edge! Shaving cream, earthy spicy notes, sharp green fresh herbs, lavender to die for - its very camphoric. The drydown is absolutely gorgeous. It doesn't project much from my skin, but it definitely leaves a faint fresh sillage that I keep noticing for 6-7 hours after application. Wonderful robust smell, it always makes me feel invigorated and well-put-together. Can't wait to wear this with a suit!

Love this one from start to finish. At its current secondary-market price, it may be the best all-around value. It’s unmistakably masculine, yet understated. Modern with just the right touch of vintage character. Effortlessly refined, exceptionally long-lasting, and presented in beautiful packaging. It checks every box. This isn’t a fragrance that suits youthful energy as much as quiet confidence. It’s made for someone who’s established, carries themselves well, and doesn’t need to announce their presence. Wear it with that kind of confidence, and people will notice.

I have no idea what Tom Ford is doing discontinuing this. It's a tragedy. Everyone can read the notes above and they are accurate. Just a wonderful open that calms down fairly quickly into the heart. I will say the oakmoss, while not overpowering, is one of the best mossy scents I ever smelled that compliments everything else in the mid notes. Dries down to a clean slightly warm scent that is just a joy. A clean masculinely confident fougere. These bottles are being sold at half off and I just had to get one despite it (likely) being discontinued. I will savor it.

I am so glad I matured into liking this fragrance. Heaps of lavender sprinkled with mint and rosemary. All of that lays on a bed of patchouli. Patchouli was the main reason why I did not like it. But now I understand it gives the scent perfect balance. Yes, I get that it basically copied Zino, but when you take into account the quality... Tom Ford improved, what has been done and reintroduced the scent profile to the new audiance. Discontinuation of Beau de Jour makes as much sense as redoing Dior Homme without iris. The fragrance is perfect. The end.

Beau De Jour is a modern, gentlemanly, barbershop fougere. The lavender, rosemary, and mint are what I smell the most. The green/florals dominate the entire blend. The patchouli helps them stick around for much longer than they should, but you can’t detect it. The blending is what makes this a master piece. It’s my spring/summer signature scent. It works well for any occasion, and a little goes a long way. I was devastated to find out it’s discontinued. Fougere D’Argent is similar not definitely not this FRESH!

This is a masterpiece fougere fragrance. Tom Ford brought the classic barber shop scent profile and modernized it. Younger gents could wear it but this will appeal to those age 35+. If it is discontinued, that will be a bummer. I already bought a backup bottle just in case. To me, it is better than Grey Vetiver and performs better, even though sillage is more intimate (most fougere/barber shop scents are). Highly recommend trying if you like aromatic fougere fragrances.

Seems the discontinuation rumours were false, would make zero sense if they did. A quintessential fougere, probabaly the best out there. Yes it has been 'modernised' somewhat, they removed the super powdery aspect a lot of lavender forward fougeres may have had in the past and sweetened it up just enough, not with a cheap vanillic accord but rather some smooth ambery notes. The quality, the blend, its all perfect, lasts forever as well.

I get why people tend to describe this as a mature man’s fragrance, and I’m not mad about it. But maybe because I’m someone in my 20s, what I get from it is a young, clean-shaven guy in a white long-sleeved T-shirt and light-wash jeans, walking through Barcelona. It’s the definition of bottled confidence, when it's on you no matter what, you know you’re going to have a good time—deep conversations and lots of smiles.

This reminds me of the men I grew up idolizing. The definition of a masculine scent. The lavender and oakmoss is calming and the mint is refreshing. This is my definition of a dumb reach fragrance, it works in all seasons and settings and doesn't leave you smelling like everyone else. This fragrance is for a man's man, the type of man of man that is dominant without being loudest guy in the room.

Addictive modern Rosemary - Lavender barbershop scent. (Rosemary may be a little bit medicinal for some people and also at some temperature/humidity conditions). Its reformulation is water down of the original. It has become little bit lighter and Ozonic and has lost its creamy scent. If they combined pencil shaving note of dry vetiver in Grey Vetiver and Beau de Jour, it could be interesting.

This is a decent men's aromatic. This is a lavender/herbal fragrance with hints of patchouli and a lemony greenness from geranium. It has a slightly sweet amber dry down that keeps it from being too medicinal smelling. If you like lavender, then give this a try. This reminds me of Bracken Man by Amouage. Amouage is more clove prominent, but they are similar. It smells nothing like Zino.

This classic barbershop vibe is really striking me lately. BdJ, bon monsieur, Milano cento, Dana canoe, clubman, drakkar noir, Even old spice classique. I’m only 28 so it’s more of a memory of my father’s aftershave (clubman) and the idea of a well dressed man, but on top of the memory, it’s just a wonderful era of fragrance. I love BdJ for an enjoyable day in the world.

This isn't necessarily a mass appealing scent. It is going for something very specific, and if that is what you are looking for, this is an excellent option. A modern cool weather barbershop fougere fragrance. Hopefully Tom Ford plans on replacing this with a new refreshed variant, but when I found out that this was being discontinued I had to get myself a full bottle.

I'm a guy in my 20s, don't have my life problems solved, or has a lot of testosterone. But I have the street creed to pull off this fragance. this fragance scream masculinity and also it feels nostalgic, the smell reminded of a old school barbershop i used to go for a cheap haircut... the lavander and mint extract calm my nerves from a stressful day

This is a truely handsome daily driver fragrance for men. I assume it was discontinued because of its classic scent profile that maybe isn't what people think of when choosing a Tom Ford fragrance. I was fortunate to snag a bottle at a big discount from Sephora about a month ago. It's a great scent but I wouldn't pay a premium for it.

Beau de Jour is truly a modern day Gentleman fougère. Clean - Fresh - Bold Luckly I got 2019 bottle, which has good longevity and projection. Definitely amp up your mood. After 4 hours, one wrist BDJ, the other Zino..and still I don’t get in which way they are supposed to be similar. BDJ is very subtle and refined and has this nice pungent feeling. Zino is sweeter and less discrete. The floral part makes it someway richer but on me this part doesn’t work.Both great but not redundant at all.

Ahhh... Lavender, green herbals and a soft earthy patchouli base. Refined and such an easy wear. love this for work in particular. Need to get the 100ml next time, Yup, its for sale everywhere including Tom Ford UK, so not gonna stress about panic purchasing three bottles that don't actually seem to be discontinued...:-)

Found my daytime signature. This is smooth. To my nose its a luxury like shaving cream with a added 10% baby powder vibe. Projects extremely well and lasts on me about 4-5 hours. 10/10. This a mature scent that says you are well put together. 30+, well groomed and dressed will get the most out of this fragrance.
