Black Lacquer

When I first encountered Tom Ford's Black Lacquer, I wasn’t sure if it would be my style. The name alone conjured an image of something bold, edgy, and possibly overwhelming—qualities I sometimes find difficult to pull off. Yet, the moment I sprayed it, my reservations melted away. This fragrance is nothing short of mesmerizing. Black Lacquer unfolds with a dark, resinous opening that feels almost like stepping into a luxurious, dimly lit room filled with polished wood and glossy leather. There’s an immediate richness, almost syrupy but not sweet, balanced by smoky and slightly spicy undertones that pull you in like a whispered secret. As it develops, the scent transitions beautifully, revealing a softer, more velvety heart that feels warm and enveloping. It’s here where the unexpected happened for me: the interplay between a soft floral aspect and the deeper, more mysterious base notes became addictive. I found myself drawn to my wrist repeatedly, each sniff offering a new nuance that felt both grounding and provocative. The longevity of Black Lacquer is nothing short of legendary. I sprayed it on a favorite blouse, and weeks later, the scent still clung to the fabric as though it had become a part of its very weave. Even more impressive, it’s been months since I last wore my leather jacket, yet a faint but unmistakable trace of Black Lacquer still lingers in the lining. It’s as if the fragrance has imprinted itself onto my life, leaving behind an olfactory ghost that whispers elegance and intrigue every time I catch a hint of it. In terms of projection, this isn’t a scent that shouts—it murmurs seductively. It’s confident without being abrasive, making it perfect for intimate evenings or moments when you want to leave a lasting impression without overwhelming the room. Tom Ford’s Black Lacquer surprised me, not only because I didn’t expect to like it but because it stayed with me in such a literal and emotional sense. It’s a fragrance that feels like a signature, powerful yet understated, and capable of telling its own story long after you’ve moved on to other things. This is a scent I’ll revisit time and time, not just for its beauty but for its undeniable staying power.

Being disappointed in most of the most recent Tom Ford releases, I had my doubts about Black Lacquer. I am happy to report, this is a very good, somewhat original fragrance that puts the Tom Ford brand back to where it belongs. To be fair, a smokey wood has been done by most major houses, Kilian particularly has a few nice offerings. Black Lacquer is a smokey wood, but benefits from a surprising inky/vinyl note that upon first spray does conjure up something black, smooth and shiny. I do like a fragrance with an ink note, as I wear M/MINK by Byredo. Not that BL smells anything like M/MINK but that initial blast does give BL very unique, modern and polished opening. At it’s core BL is a smoky wood and the opening note, as striking at it is, does fade off pretty quickly. Once it’s on skin, BL mellows out into a rich incense heavy, deep wood. This reminds me a lot of Ferragamo Incense Suede in that each has a Nag Champa, incense feel. I detect very little apricot and peony, but they are probably what gives BL a vague sweetness, but I find the smell of Nag Champa slightly sweet as well. The sweetness here is minimal, which serves this well. If this were any sweeter it would not work. I’d say this is more on the sweet side vs smoky or spicy but that should not deter anyone from trying this. The olibanum note is the focus here and it is complex and almost oriental in nature. This definitely has an exotic feel, like you are in an opium den or visiting a dark luxurious bar somewhere in the middle east. Overall, this is a deep, dark smooth experience and one of the best to come from this house in years. I am definitely getting a bottle.

Compared to other recent releases, this is the most Tom Ford smelling scent I’ve smelled in a while, and it’s gorgeous. In the same world as Ebene Fume and Myrrh Mystere and the more elegant amber centered releases, Black Lacquer has a solid seat at the table imo. The fantasy notes in the opening add to the overall experience but don’t define the fragrance as the name suggests that it would. I was pleasantly surprised when smooth booze, deep woods, warm spice and sensual and elevated amber collided beautifully in this modern take on a classic private collection profile. I’ll come back with updates after a full wear, but I feel firmly this may be one of the best releases since the acquisition. Update: I remain firm... best TF release since the acquisition. The longevity is so good on this, the sprays on my HANDS are going strong after 6 hours and handwashing. A little goes a long way for me. But even with that, this doesn’t become cloying or overwhelming... it is SO WELL DONE. This one is definitely worth the cost to me. On skin I get a beautiful incense. The type you would use as bakhoor to scent your surroundings and yourself... as a westerner, do you know how good a scent must be for us to want to use it that way? Usually we separate home scents from personal scents and make clear distinctions. But, Black Lacquer is a vibe. Stunning start to end with the florals making the briefest welcome appearance in the mid and the finish being a sueded frankincense. A must have for me.

I’m from Taiwan, and I tested this fragrance at the boutique three separate times before finally purchasing it. The first time, I only used a blotter. The next two visits, I sprayed it directly on my skin. What really amazed me was that the blotter from my very first visit still had a noticeable scent even two months later. That lingering trail stayed in my mind, especially the peony in the dry down, which I found truly unforgettable. I should mention that I usually dislike floral fragrances, but the peony here is surprisingly harmonious and refined. It doesn’t feel loud or overly feminine—instead, it blends beautifully and completely won me over. As for the opening and mid notes, to my nose they strongly resemble the smell of incense burning in Taiwanese temples. If you’ve ever visited a temple in Taiwan, you’ll probably know exactly what I mean. That said, it doesn’t feel heavy, religious, or oppressive at all. Rather, the overall composition is smooth, comforting, and very unique. Performance is excellent. As I mentioned earlier, even on paper it lasted for months, which says a lot about its longevity. Scent-wise, it feels very distinctive and doesn’t remind me of any other perfume I’ve tried.

Ébène Fumé perfected? This is intoxicatingly good. Where Ébène Fumé opens with an extremely smokey and church-like incense and woods, Black Lacquer masterfully blends fruitiness, the same incensey woods, albeit much more toned down with the smoke, and a slight rounding booziness that makes this a scent I can't get enough of. While they are overall very distinct scents, Ébène Fumé and Black Lacquer are, in my opinion, almost like sister fragrances. Much like the former, Black Lacquer also becomes fruitier and sweeter as it dries down, and the dry down here is also spectacular. Performance is where this might be a bit lacking. Projection seemed moderate at best, with a moderate to light sillage. Longevity seems fine, it managed to reach 6 hours but it's already a bit faint on skin. To be fair, I applied it off a sample vial on the side of my wrist instead of my forearm like usual, which means less fragrance than regular ended up on my skin. I'll have to give this another wear to see if performance might be slightly better. As it stands, I'm in love with this scent and I'll absolutely look into purchasing a full size bottle.

Words that come to mind when I smell this fragrance are: Dark, clandestine, enigmatic, mysterious, Gothic, and most of all it comes off as recherché to me, which is a word I've literally never had to use unironically in a situation until now, but I think it encapsulates what this Fragrance is going for flawlessly. This truly is an grand and intoxicating innocence of a fragrance, that has a beautiful underlying sweetness from Apricot and Peony, that really elevate all the dark accords of Ink and Vinyl in this fragrance all the more so, and I'm confident that's what contributes to its semi-addicting feeling, that associated with smelling it in the mid dry down. I can only see this working in fall and Winter nights personally, in terms of occasions, I'd only wear this in any scenario you'd wish to wear a leather fragrance, but I'd suggest not wearing this to any formal occasions, best leave it to being worn amongst friends. My final verdict for this fragrance is a solid 8/10, it would be higher, but the price, and lack of wearability is what's holding this back in my opinion, other than that i quite like it

Altar boy with a leather fetish. That’s neither a rave nor a pan. This is dark, black on black stuff. Byzantine. Ancient. The kind of thing your odd Transylvanian nobleman host might be wearing as he ushers you into the great room of his crumbling centuries old castle. I mostly get the incense and I get leather (which isn’t actually an official note, I guess, except maybe it’s the vinyl?) Personally it grows on me. I like the dry down a lot. It softens but still feels old world, complex, and mysterious. I do wish the peony would step to the front a bit more, as a slightly sweet counterpoint to all the ominous goings on. Can barely notice it. That said, it’s got a quiet gravity after the first hour that feels pretty sexy and has authority. Not for work, unless you work for vampires. But great for a night out when you have to put on the dog...ideally something candlelit, wearing monochromatic black on black. EDIT: this has become one of my favorites as winter begins this year. Absolutely gorgeous drydown (at least on me) and lasts forever on clothes in a good way.

Tom Ford's "Black Lacquer" is probably not the best blind buy - as with all TF fragrances. However, I gambled anyway. Upon my first wearing last winter I was immediately turned off by the synthetic dark ink sensation, though I did find it unique. Nonetheless, its development over the next 10-12 hours of wear intrigued me - day after day. I get beast mode duration on both body and clothing. I purchase fragrances for me, not for others' popular opinion. I have primarily worn Black Lacquer at home, travel, and for small social occasions. It is very dark, moody, ominous fragrance, filled with a smooth smoky incense base, which makes it very atmospheric. There is something simply magical about Black Lacquer. I feel both mysterious and powerful when I wear it, though its versatility could be considered limited. However, I don't care. Because of its power for me I will dress it up or down. To save my expensive TF juice, I have also purchased ALT Fragrances' "Noir Varnish;" I rate it highly as a top tier, affordable, dupe for Black Lacquer.

So, so good. It fills a slot in my fragrance wardrobe that were previously unoccupied; where A city on fire was too avant-garde and 24 rue de l’Universitet was too cold and sharp. This is a bold scent profile with authority, that also sits quite intimate to the skin. This is a good thing, any huge sillage with this potent and dark profile would be too much. They really blended this well, I wore it on warm skin on a sunny spring day and it worked beautifully. Opening is heavy on the smoke, laquer and wood. The smoke reminds me of welding. 6 hours later it’s warm dark wood, the smoke only lingering, and there’s a softness almost that reminds me of modern high-quality makeup (not the old-school iris kind). Truly, if the color black had a smell to it, this would be it. I’m wearing my Black Laquer with a structured wool coat and knee-high combat boots.

Black Lacquer was way better than I hoped, but definitely not original... which is fine, at least here. The enjoyability of the scent makes up for that. It feels like a conceptual blend of CdG's Floriental and TF London + Cafe Rose. Rich, somewhat inky in the opening, and spicy woods and incense for the remainder. There is a "blackness" / "darkness", but it's not pitch. it's soothing, but there might be a bit of vetiver for texture under the silky smoothness. The spicy incense resin is a bit rough, alongside the vetiver, but this isn't lacking refinement. There's a lot of textures. Complex. I'd definitely buy this if it weren't for the cost. I don't think this is a rebirth for TF Private Collection which has been feeling a bit same-y, but it's very enjoyable.

It evokes glossy black lacquer, fine woods, smoke, and a touch of dark ink. Modern, mysterious, and possessing a sharp elegance. The magic emerges at the heart... The fragrance reveals an accord of ebony and rosewood, intertwined with a rare black peony note. This is no sweet or romantic peony, but a mysterious "flower of shadow" that lends a deep, velvety texture to the dark wood. It embodies an alchemical, nocturnal elegance. It gives you the sensation of wearing armor made of polished, mirror-like black glass. It is a scent that shields you, insulating you from the chaos outside; it conveys strength, a centered calm, and an incredible sense of impenetrability. A fantastic fragrance! I consider this one of the better Tom ford fragrances of recent years and mourn the fact that I don’t currently live in a cold climate where I could enjoy this fully. This fragrance starts off some very well balanced synthetics that really do smell like a sort of lacquer or ink. Probably the best balance of those notes against a warm backdrop that I have ever smelled. It dies down to a deep resinous scent, but the synthetic notes are still very present adding to the overall appeal. I know Tom Ford is a “linear scent” brand, and I’m glad for this fragrance because that means the best notes never end. The whole thing is rather gothic, but not too warming. I consider this one of the best strictly winter fragrances I’ve tried in recent years.

I can't gatekeep this gem anymore. Let me tell you something (like the meme) Brothers, this is one of the the best, if not THE BEST release since Mr. Ford ran away (retired) with 3.2 billions. Now, this concotion is for people with character in all situations except gym and sports. It is... deliciously unique. Not as a goourmand, vanilla fluff boy... but as a man. A man who knows how many cards are in a pack and that a dice has total 7 adding opposing sides, ... from ghetto to opera, this delivers! Kudos to the parfumeur, I hope that Guillaume will come up with other well polished formulas such as this one. A true 10/10 in perfumery. More niche than the usual but definitely wearable and well executed. I will repurchase gladly!

There is nothing like this fragrance to my nose. The opening notes are very much correctly stated in inky, dark vinyl and tend to take you into a black hole that I thought I’d not come out of for some time. However, after an hour or so, the sweetness kicks in which is a total 180 degree change from the start and you’re left with something that is bloody fantastic that I struggle to explain. It’s still dark, but the sugar that exudes from the fruit in the dry down warms you up immensely, and from the midnight woods and incense at the start, it soon grows to become the star of the night. Best to be worn in black with black. Without doubt, a long awaited win for a new TF fragrance since EL took over, but it really works for me.

Still loving this, when I first bought it I fell in Love with it reminding me of DK Black Cashmere, which I also own, but it's impossible to find now. Yesterday I was at the mall for other reasons, & stopped to smell Myrrhe Mystere. WOW, I bought the 100 ML bottle 30 minutes after first testing. They have different notes, but those 2 are very very similar to my nose. I have seen people complain about the Longevity of TFBL, I have NOT had that problem. Same is true with MM the card I sprayed yesterday is on my kitchen counter & is still filling the air. picked the shirt I was wearing up out of the hamper to put in the wash this morning & could smell it w/o even putting my nose to it. Both are winners!

Dark and mysterious, almost oppressive opening which I found quite resinous and aromatic. It definitely brings to mind spilled ink but I'm not sure I can actually smell it as a note and neither the vinyl. Something here in the opening smells a little medicinal to a degree - perhaps it is the elemi. This note starts to fade after a short while, bringing forth the lovely deep woody tones from the ebony and loads of smoky olibanum. Decent staying power but doesn't project much further than arm's length, which works well for this fragrance - it doesn't need to shout. It pulls you in with its mystery and intrigue. Very sexy fragrance which would be perfect for someone moody and aloof.

What a gem this fragrance is! It's highly distinctive, with notes of ebony wood and vinyl that are so captivating. The addition of ink brings an exquisite touch to the scent, giving it a strong 'dark academia' vibe. It's sophisticated, striking, and definitely worthy of becoming a signature scent. The projection and longevity are impressive as well. I would do just about anything to get my hands on a bottle of Black Lacquer - except shelling out 360.99 € for 50 ml, which is outrageous. On a related note, if you're a fan of (affordable) ink notes, you should check out Supreme Vanilla by Zara. While it's an entirely different scent profile, the ink note there is quite lovely, too.

A dark, smoky/burnt incense with a hint of harsh/industrial vinyl in the opening that quickly fades, leaving behind only more dark, smoky/burnt incense. I really have to emphasize how extremely smoky this fragrance is. This is clearly a masculine fragrance. It claims to have apricot and peony, but I truly cannot detect any no matter how many times I wear this, and I would not call this a balanced fragrance at all. I would only wear this at night, and only in the fall or winter. I really like it, I rate it 8.5/10 for me, but I would only rate it 6.5/10 for the average male worldwide to blind-buy. It is not a balanced fragrance and therefore it is unlikely to have mass appeal.

Wow, I had the pleasure of smelling this while I was browsing fragrances the other day. I left the store and could not stop thinking about how lovely this fragrances is, so I went back I bought this immediately. I am not typically drawn to Tom Ford fragrances but this one is a stunning number. I love a deep, dark, creamy incense fragrance and this one hits all the notes for me. When a fragrance is described as “incense-y” this is what I hope the scent will be. So fantastic on its own but I cannot wait to layer this with my mazzolari vaniglia, karnain sucre addict 🤤🤤🤤not that it matters, but I’m female and find this fragrance extremely easy to wear.

Dark smokey goodness - It doesn't have a smokey "texture" - it's very smooth - but it's savory and a tiny bit sweet and has that strange "inky" (vinyl?) note that reminds me of Zoologist's squid: something very "other" and high-pitched and tart. It has the woody vibe of floor tiling or sturdy furniture - not wood in the wild but processed. It feels refined and luxurious. slightly reminiscent of Beaufort's "Terror and Magnificence" - but it doesn't have the sourness and char of the birch. Despite all that unconventional aroma, it's not too loud, and feels very wearable to me for non-work settings.

This smells dark, resinous (not in a sweet way), smoky, but so unique. The "chemically" comments are not entirely right or wrong, in the best way possible. Not for the average blue or sweet fragrance enjoyer, if you fit the dark, brooding archetype this will fit you perfect. While the other TF fragrances in this line have always been great, they haven't tempted me to spend the price of a full bottle. This one changes that, I'll definitely be picking one up. @eriksatt94 it smells nothing like encre noire, but if you can appreciate that one you may like this.

Smoky and woody, with a floral undertone. I thought it sounded interesting, and I was very surprised by how much I like it. Long-lasting and reasonably powerful. All the notes lingered on me from morning to evening. Maybe it's just because I'm Australian, but this doesn't seem wintery or evening. This reminds me of a summer day or afternoon, with the faint smell of bushfires in the distance over the flowery smell of summer. Maybe that's niche and it's definitely not what they were trying to evoke, but it hits a sense of home in a way very few scents have.

I had to come back to say, I just ordered a bottle. This scent is STUNNING! I can't keep my wrist off of my nose. Just went to Dillards & spray 2 good sprays, I am in heaven! If any of you are familiar with the OH SO strong, dark, MAC Heroine, THAT is what this smells like when you spray it. BUT, there's magic! The dry down smells like DK Black Cashmere, that is long gone & so loved by many as an incense scent. Wow. Nosferatu of perfumes, no question. I tested it just for fun because I swore to my husband we are through buying perfumes, but we both need this. It is the darker and most gothic perfume I ever experienced. I got a bit of heavy undertone on my arm today, almost like barnyard oud (could be me though) and I grabbed Vanilla Fatale to cover this. I am currently on Seventh Heaven, I wish I could buy both, and either wear them together or separate. Tom Ford is master of his craft. Anyone who says different is just bitter.

Most masculine perfumes I was trying kinda smelled the same, this one is exotic. This smells luxurious and elegant, but doesn't give any unique description but a wealthy man. Very masculine, serious and neat. Not a perfume for summer, only in the winter or colder places, i think it is perfect in all ways. This elevates any person who wears it, can be used in any occasion. But it's so intense so not overspraying allowed. I only know about 6 Tom Ford frags, but this one def is so good that made me think of buying.

I get a DEEP DARK leather & I want this SOOO bad. It reminds me of MAC Heroine, which I do own, & is NUCLEAR, so I don't know if I "need" this but it is going to be hard for me not to buy this. I'm in love! I didn't last long on my hand tho. It was a small spritz b/c the bottle at Dillards was practically empty. I would need to try again with 2 sprays before I buy it. But I got the smell & OMG. This makes TF Ombre Leather feel like a pansy. I have that one too. Do I need this NOOOOOO. Want?? OH Yeah!

Today is my first day wearing Black Lacquer. So far, I’m intrigued by and pleased with it. It’s deep, dark, mysterious, and with great longevity and respectable sillage. I’ve been wearing it for 3.5 hours now, and there is an aspect of it that reminds me some of the dry-downs of the venerable Tom Ford Amber Absolute and Sahara Noir, which I love and miss; however, to my nose at least, it’s as if the dry-downs of these were beautifully caramelized a bit. I’m excited to spend more time with it.

Deep, dark and perfect. Instantly became one of my favorites within the first few minutes of spraying. I was initially hit with a wave of ebony woodiness that was pleasant, if a bit restrained compared to what I was expecting. But soon after, the ink rolled in like a thundercloud as black as pitch, and transformed this fragrance into something far more unique than yet another wood. I've never smelled anything else quite like this. A gorgeous, intoxicatingly dark scent for serious people.

I saw the Vinyl and Ink notes in this and was intrigued by it so i decided to smell it. started off alcoholic and odd so I immediately decided that it was bad, but after it dried down on my hand I smelt it again and I was blown away. Class, Elegance. Black Suit Fragrance. Pure John Wick. I’m glad to say i'm a proud owner of Black Lacquer. The longevity is fantastic on my skin. doesn’t project farther than an arms length in my opinion. Definitely my signature piece.

like good art evokes an emotional response, a good fragrance transports you to a memory, real or imagined, in space and time. black lacquer is lightning mcqueen straining against the asphalt machine under the arid mesas of radiator springs, across the street from the italian tire shop. rubber, smoke, leather, spice unabated in the still, hot air. i love black lacquer. this fragrance is a great substitute for a tepid personality and dwindling virility. kachow.

this is darkness if i ever smelled it. true incense with all the ink and plastic you could ask for. this reminds me of this goth girl i use to know from my families friends amd she was all into that incense and witchcraft she would have all her records and hottopic perfumes lighting incense and drawing on her mead composition books. Such a vibe and honestly this frag should be studied lots of incense and vinyl stuff out there that doesnt quite hit the mark.

tested this in store and still got the tester strip fresh in hand, resinous almost incense-like, spicy, woody, not sure I get much of a vinyl or ink note, but I do get boozines from the rum as well. I personally love it, but I can see how this would be unappealing to some people, specially with the rise of tiktok femboy homoerotic fragrances and closeted homosexuals dosing themselves in stuff like JPG elixir, Lattafa's Khamrah and the likes of it.

Weirdly smooth, synthetic, patent leather. The booze and spice are perceivable, but planed and covered in a thick gloss. A surprisingly intriguing and niche-adjacent Tom Ford's release, and possibly the only one from its outrageously pricey private line I need at least a decant of, even just to have the chance to test it properly (which means, yes, I'll be back). What a beautiful scent! I agree it's similar to CDG Black as I have both but to me it's much deeper and complex. CDG feels to linear to me; it smells like a nice candle. Black Lacquer it the older sophisticated cousin to CDG Black; smokier and all around less sweeet. I wore it this weekend and received many compliments. CDG black is now a daytime fragrance for me and I will use Black Lacquer for date night and evening events.

This is my new favorite TF. Starts off smelling like plastic-y vinyl, but I mean that in the best way possible it just smells comforting and familiar. Gives way to some smokey incense notes, like a dusty wood shop that’s been burning some incense. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments with this one everyone says they’ve never smelled anything like it. Reminds me very much of Ebene Fume and Myrrhe Mystere, but more complex.

Interesting and unusual note breakdown, beautiful bottle, and alluring name. Fingers crossed for an old-school-ish Tom Ford Private Blend here! The “pre-emptive complaining” by people who haven’t tried it (and likely won’t be trying it) is getting real old though. If you think it is too expensive, then just pass it by - nobody cares about your venomous non-comments. I can’t wait to try this.

Opens with a bizarre and powerful inky plastic , has a hint of Cypriol similar to many oud accords, a bit tarry/smokey. Dries down more woody smokey and incense forward but the opening accords persist nicely in a balanced way Longevity is better than most Fords and it manages to project reasonably for the first few hours. This is a surprisingly solid and unexpected entry.

This is literally a softer, less spicy, smoother Royal Tabacco by Amouge and I LOVE it so much for that lmao. What you will get here is the spicy opening with a little bit inky feeling but not as harsh as Royal Tabacco, then it dry down to this sort of tabacco ashes smell, like cigarrete that had been lit. It's so good if you like that kind of smells and vibe.

After more wearing I have a better understanding of the notes, it is inky vinylic boozy resinous peppery dark woody fragrance. Quite linear. Brings black color to my mind. My new signature. Love it a lot. Photo of my bottle can be seen above (Fragram). It is far from Ebene Fume, Myrrhe Mystere and Tobacco Oud. Most of the reviews are biased and misleading.

Sorry to disappoint all the "fashionistas" in here... but sadly Mr. Ford sold ALL of his company to Estee Lauder for 2.8 BILLION USD. Mr. Tom Ford has almost nothing and... yes, nothing to do with these new lines beside his name. This perfume is one of my TOP 3 2024 releases = is unique and well done! Still Made in Switzerland and not in poopy land. 9/10

I think this is the best release from TF since Fn Fab... It takes the best if Ebene Fume and Myrrh Mystere (which I also own) and takes them darker and into a more niche/interesting area Unlike other recent releases, this feels complete. Sexy incense, fun inky vinyl notes, dark woods to round the base. Really enjoying it and glad I have a 30ml now.

Beautiful mysterious fragrance, one of my all time favourites to date. My nose doesn't pick up a lot of the individual notes such as apricot, ink or vinyl that are listed, however everything comes together in a way that creates a smokey incense fragrance, somewhat reminiscent to the smell of old temples that burn incense in Japan. Solid 10/10.

When I first smelled this I was hooked. It's a very complex scent made of various notes you can have fun picking out or simply enjoy as a whole which to me is a dark smoky church insence. The ink and vinyl scent is prominent in the beginning and it's strange but it calms down soon enough and becomes the dark smoky insence vibe I love.

What an opening! The vinyl accord is wonderful. The dark smoky wood that follows is not exactly unique among the Tom Ford oeuvre - Tobacco Oud and Sahara Noir come to mind - but it is very nice. To my nose, this is the best Tom Ford release in a long time - it's still not worth the asking price but is at least worth sampling.

I got Hafez’ Alexandria Fragrance clone of this, Black Book, based on the intriguing scent tree for TF BL. The dupe is very nice indeed - the only somewhat similar vibe in my collection is from Armani’s churchy Bois Encense, but I like Black Book more. I’ll have to sample the OG since this composition really appeals to me.

A very unique and elegant smell. It's definitely unisex, and I wouldn't say that it's more masculine or feminine. It reminds me of a new book, or a clean library, and the excitement it comes with. The projection isn't so great, and nor should it be, the point is for others, akin to a book, to want to discover you

This scent reminds me of listening to the crunchy dirty guitars of the Rolling Stones. As far as scent...here are the things I smell when I wear Tom Ford's Black Lacquer: --Vinyl --Heated amplifier (wood, metal, wires) --Shelacked wooden stage --Smoke --A Little hairspray --Booze --Perfume off in the crowd

I absolutely adore this scent, it’s without a doubt my favorite cologne. You can smell the dark heady scents right from the get go, it’s almost intoxicating. Then giving way to peppery incense and a touch of sweetness it’s just incredible. Frankly I can’t get enough of it, too bad it’s so expensive 😵💫

Very unique. Smells like nail polish to me (in a good way). Nice, formal scent. Definitely good for nighttime. Or a date night. A little bit polarizing based off of friend reactions but it’s definitely well blended and has good quality. If you collect records - this one is a no brainer.

It's been many months since I've last worn Black Laquer. Florida is mostly hot and miserable so Black Laquer had to wait for cold temps to come through. I love it. This is artwork. It isn't for everyone. The price is crazy. I feel so calm and centered. Edit: Fucking magical drydown!!
