Café Rose (2023)

Y'all. 1. It's the same formula as the Private Blend version. As another reviewer below pointed out, the ingredients and formula code (ILN39023) are the same. I know it's rare for a packaging and price change to not automatically include a reformulation, but the brand literally can't lie about ingredients and formulations without risking unthinkable legal trouble. 2. Tom Ford Beauty, the company responsible for every TF fragrance and makeup product ever, was always part of Estée Lauder. It was created under a licensing agreement before the launch of Black Orchid back in 2005ish. The recent buyout that people are mistakenly wringing their hands over was for Tom Ford's entire brand, including fashion and accessories. The beauty division was already Lauder's. Your favorite Tom Ford perfume smelling different may be for various reasons, but it's not because Estée Lauder came out of nowhere, busted the door down and started maniacally messing with formulas while Tom Ford looked on helplessly. (Besides, that's a L'Oréal move.) 3. Café Rose is strong , and if you think it's vanished after an hour, your sniffer has gone blind. Don't sit there huffing your wrist and wondering why you can't smell it. You've knocked out your nose. Go get some fresh air. 4. Tom Ford's fragrances have always been overpriced. It's not a new development. Let's stop acting like they've suddenly lost the plot and only recently started charging a king's ransom for small bottles of smelly water. Oh, the perfume review? It's good stuff. Incense-laden Damask rose (fruity, spicy, saturated) with a crisp opening and a woody, silky drydown. Dark, yes, but not trying too hard to be. The coffee reads more like a rounded, slightly bitter nuttiness that bolsters the rose, rather than standing on its own as an identifiable note. But it does help set Café Rose apart from brighter, softer, more mincing roses with little depth or mystery. And for such a bold scent, it’s also remarkably well-behaved. Most of Tom Ford’s fragrance output is just too loud and unsubtle for my taste - Ombré Leather and Black Orchid are on my short list of perfumes that I treat like mustard gas - but Café Rose keeps things classy and as close to refined as a Tom Ford has ever been. Basically faultless.

So my partner and I are getting married in less than 2 weeks and we went on a perfume hunt for something special to wear on the day. We sampled LOADS of different scents, I honestly had so many spray cards on me by the end of it! Having sampled everything else, on the cardboard strip, this was a definite stand out to me. It was incredibly strong and bold on the card. It's interesting, we tried a lot of the other TF fragrances on the cardboard strips, and they were very polarising, but I just instantly fell in love with Cafe Rose. So what you get initially is a blast of pure, unadulterated rose. Not like old lady powdery rose, but a spiced, exotic, almost Turkish delight-esque rose. It's really quite unique and beautiful, heady and dramatic. I get the patchouli blast too. People are saying they don't get the coffee, I suppose everyone's 'nose' is different, but I can definitely sense it. It gives Cafe Rose a sweetness almost, gourmand and intoxicating. There's something almost medicinal about this, an timeless drama that you could almost imagine in a smoky old-time Jazz club or something like that. I'd definitely pitch it more toward the feminine side than the masculine. Sillage is intense on first spray, as it begins to settle on your skin, I personally get a clean, almost soapy scent, a bit like Dove soap. The coffee sweetness adds a syrupy undertone to it but it's not heavy-going, the coffee is subtle, the spice is exotic and heady. Dry down is subtly sweet, almost faintly vanilla. As beautiful as this undoubtedly is, and as intense as it is on first blast, unfortunately it doesn't last. Longevity is poor, on me, anyway - I get about two hours tops. It's very expensive, so you'd expect it to last longer. My partner's cologne almost completely drowned the smell of Cafe Rose out (JPG's Scandal for reference), and although I applied it twice today, my partner said he couldn't smell it on me at all either time. For an £150 perfume, and as rose is usually a very strong note in any perfume, I'd honestly want something a bit longer lasting.

If you’re looking for an “strong, independent, empowered female CEO” scent, this one’s for you! Imagine walking into a room full of men in black and they kneel to the power of your fragrance. I can’t emphasize enough how much I LOVE this perfume. This has become my go-to signature date night/girls night out scent. I feel so powerful and energized when I wear this, so much that it’s actually a little too strong for some men (this is how you know who’s worthy of dating you I guess 🤪). This is not the sweet type of rose. It’s a dark rose that’s creamy and velvety but not gourmand. It’s a really spicy and strong, earthy floral but not a “grandma” type of scent too. I’ve seen comments about the lack of coffee scent that I quite don’t understand. I spray this on my skin and I literally instantly smell the coffee. This lasts all day on my skin too. I’d leave the house at 8AM and come home 12 hours later, and I can still smell this on my clothes and skin. I don’t see the need to reapply. In fact, I leave my bottle at home and don’t bring any other perfume with me, and I’m still getting compliments on how good I smell! I think the only downside of this is that it is just too expensive, and it’s very hard to find in the Philippines since it’s a fall/winter fragrance (we only have wet/dry season where it’s hard to fit in) Again, this is a really strong and spicy floral scent. Definitely not for clean girlies because they’re more for women who wanna make a punching bold statement.

95% rose than other ingredients but not cheap, of course, it’s Tom Ford. Very pleasant (for those who love roses) freshly cut type of roses rather than mysterious dark jammy rose. 🌹 I’m a guy but just can’t get enough roses, love on me and it’s very aroma therapeutic uplifting rose scents all around. Of course there are more sophistication than just rose itself, but mainly ROSE, no coffee unfortunately but I can sip my coffee while wearing this so it’s ok, and has that subtle frankincense vibe in the background especially as it dries down. It’s a luxurious rose scents of two different types of roses but of course you won’t see or smell separately, this is something you want to wear and feel positive, mature(not grandma!), sexy, confident and stylish. Guys can absolutely pull this off if you’re confident enough to be a good smelling put together type of men and always happy. Not show off kind of men but genuinely a good guy. For women, it’s definitely add to your nice characteristics and attraction. It’s nice to wear this for party (not necessarily disco nights) but cocktails, fancy dinners, social events and definitely traveling. 50ml bottle would do because it’s a flat bottle so nice shape to slide into your purse. This is one of my favourite TF fragrances among many of his lines. Of course, comes with those price tags but test them well before you buy impulsively.

I ordered this based on the scent on a tester paper card On paper it’s a sweet airy delicate clean rose, no coffee, no coriander etc On skin, i do sense just a hint of coffee along with mostly rose right in the opening but that goes away within minutes which is kinda sad bc the coffee note is pretty, then i sense a warm but kind of sour rose which is translated to me as a sophisticated grown up evening kind of scent, then in the deeper dry down on my skin under my top i can smell the coriander and ylang along with the same kind of rose that reminds me just a slight slight slight tiny bit of amouage guidance (i had they perfume so if it was a lot i wouldn’t like this perfume). I believe what i hated about guidance was the combination of coriander and frankensence being too much. The sandalwood in the base kind of smooths all of that out which helps the perfume a lot from being the stinky mess that guidance is (at least to me) There’s really nothing sweet about this fragrance except the natural tart sweetness of rose and that coffee in the opening is the selling point of Tia fragrance which is why it’s such a shame that it doesn’t last, if it persisted throughout the whole fragrance the is would be so much more enjoyable to me. I have a 30ml / 1oz bottle and i got it preloved for $50. I think I’ll keep it. Will be nice during these fall and winter months!

Café Rose (2023) Tom Ford smells like a Hybrid of FM POAL and Moonlight Patchouli VCA maybe 70/30 kinda mix. That's my nose telling me that and you may disagree. Else you can imagine it's light weight POAL rose dna with patchouli and it's kinda earthy which some noses may say it's sour like but it's not sour, it's from the yellow Ylang-ylang flora possibly. I don't seem to get the coffee at the opening perhaps just as fast it's there and it's gone. The Incense and sandalwood coming in to the rose patchouli flora may not appeal to younger or inexperienced noses but from here the similarities to POAL is there for all who have experienced both scents. I was contemplating the red LE of POAL and Cafe Rose is available at a nice price and decided to try this. No regrets. It's more subtle and not a projection and silage monster as POAL but it still have decent projection and silage. Some of you may also see similarities to MP Radical Rose etc, basically quite a few rose + patchouli + some incense or labanum combo have this kinda dna. It's pretty good though for a guy wanting or liking such a rose dominant styled dna with similar accords and notes. Bottle quality and design just looking a little average following after those orchard/velvet/GV Style bottle but with a cap that follows the bottle design. Will definitely wear this more often.

The beauty of rose immersed in sandalwood and patchouli makes this stunning fragrance.

I love this smell SOOO much I could DROWN in it. The sillange is pretty decent. I will spray it around 7:45 am, and it lasts till about 5-6 pm. It isn't a super strong scent either, so you can spray generously and it still won't be super overwhelming to others unless they are close to you. When you spray it, you get a VERY subtle sweet rose smell, but it's not overpowering at all (I hate sweet scents, so I wouldn't have bought this if it were extremely sweet or floral). The rose actually gives it almost a lightness that doesn't make the scent too overpowering or dark at any point. The scent is musky, but becasue of the rose note, it makes it still feel like a very feminen scent. Someone else said it was like an antique rose, and that's a beautiful description of it. Another commentator made a point that the "coffee" scent that people are looking for isn't there because the smell is aptly titled "cafe", not "coffee". When it dries on my skin, I can most definitely smell the coffee aspect of this scent, but it is subtle. This scent smells like my home in the morning, which is full of antiques, old wood furniture, thrifted clothes, books, and the lingering scent of the coffee I just made myself. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE

I've had this fragrance for about two weeks now and I am head-over-heels in love. Note: I am a BIG rose lover and mostly prefer "dry", almost antiseptic-like, dusty, old-fashioned rose scents with just the right amount of woody and spice goodness (cardamom and coriander are particularly noticeable here). I do not detect any coffee at all, which I do not mind. It manages to stay close to your skin, light, dreamy, almost watercolor-like, transparent, and rather linear (which I also like), so with light hand, it is unlikely to cause headache or bother anyone, just stays with you for hours on end for your sniffing pleasure. The first time I applied it before going to bed, the next morning I woke up wondering, what's that gorgeous tender smell?! Makes me feel like I am enveloped in old-world glamour, which is enough for me to justify the price tag. Edit 2024-08-29: The coffee finally showed up! Yay! I guess it depends on the weather and your diet as well. Turns more chocolate-y on me though. Reminds me of sour cherry pralines in dark chocolate. Like when you open a box of pralines as you sip at your rose lemonade. This is pure olfactory poetry.

I wanted this perfume for so long but the price put me off. Got a bottle and it is now my signature scent, however be aware this can smell almost sharp on some skin (this is the case for me). I find it has little to no silliage which is its main let down, about 3-4 hours into wear it has faded significantly. For the price the sprayer on the bottle is also a let down, as it is sprays in a small area and no magnetic lid (for the price?). The positives? This is about as rose as you get, slightly seductive. It is a strong but still feminine scent that is perfect if you want something more niche and not ultra feminine / sweet. The sandalwood and patchouli is strong but if you like this, perfect. I think the price is too high for the longevity of the fragrance, and despite this being my current scent I want something with more sillage, as this really doesn't have that. I love the notes, the way it smells. Just not the longevity and the sillage, but if you can get this discounted.. DO IT.

I saw the mixed reviews on this so I was a bit scared to try it. Today I was in the shop and figured, why not? Turns out it's a love at first sniff for me! It's quite different from other rose fragrances that I've tried. I feel like a disclaimer for coffee lovers is in place: you probably won't find it in here. The coffee is silent. If you do get it, you're very lucky. In the opening, I definitely feel more than just the top notes. A light patchouli and cardamom peek through, making the rose interesting, and add a dark touch. The overall feel of the fragrance isn't unpleasantly heavy by any means. It has a light/airy quality to it somehow, but also strong projection for about 2 hours. After that it becomes more gentle and elegant. The frankincense + sandalwood base is smooth and pleasant. It does become a bit soapy, as some have said. For me this is actually a plus, I like it a lot. Overall it lasts about 7-8 hours on me.

I don't get any 'cafe' with this perfume. I received it as a sample and hesitantly tried it on as I'm not a fan on coffee notes. However, I don't get any coffee at all. It almost smells like a very rich (and expensive smelling) turkish rose perfume. Almost like a single note perfume, at least to my nose. Not great longevity, maybe 3 or 4 hours at best. It is one of the best rose perfumes I have tried. Not cloying or synthetic or sweet smelling. It's like burying your nose into an old fashioned rose with rich perfume. I'd see this as a perfume primarily for day use and best in colder months. As with all Tom Ford perfumes, it smells expensive but this one is not a complex combination of notes. It's just rose. But what a rose perfume it is! I went out and purchased a full bottle. I'm more than happy to have this in my collection. I also think it's superior to Jo Malone's Red Roses perfume, if rose perfumes are your thing.

upon reading the notes I truly thought this was going to send me on a hate parade since usually some of these combos send me to migrain mode. however, I got this spray as a sample in the same kit from Sephora and i am obsessed with it! its very grown and sexy. "she's a tiger in the boardroom and a lion in the bedroom" this is the woman that wakes up at 5am to go on a run before she heads into the office for a 10 hour day. she makes time for everyone in her life because her success is what centers her. if she lived in New York it would be the financial district. if she lived in class it would be in victory park. she's bold she's beautiful and she's doing everything in her life out of spite from the pain Victoria in 7th grade caused her. night time and fall type of wear.

I actually really love this perfume. I smelled it in an airport among several others and both my mom and I loved it so much we talked later on the phone and it turns out we’d each bought an ounce without knowing the other did too!! It’s not as coffee-forward as it’s marketed, but I find it beautiful nonetheless. The warm spices that I guess were supposed to accompany the coffee scent compliment the rose really nicely, and reminds me of what I love about Le Labo’s Rose 31 while also smelling a good deal lighter. It’s the perfect fall rose and smelled amazing on my skin. I feel like the reviews on here don’t do it justice- a lot of people are sad it doesn’t smell like the old version, and admittedly I’ve never smelled it, but this is really nice.

It's so all about the chemistry on the skin. If I spray it on my scarves and clothes it smells more rosy. On my skin the coffee becomes more prominent and it is deeper, sexier. I am confident wearing it in official and elegant circumstances, as well as daily gatherings. I find it very feminine, graceful and mature, neither on the girly high-school style nor in the aggressive, heavy, more masculine style. Its moderate sillage makes it also more "polite", not the "in-your-face" type, though it still makes a statement. I wouldn't waste it at impersonal situations though due to its price. Perfect for fall/ winter, day/night.

Otherworldly yet very familiar. I love Turkish coffee and usually have it with a piece of rose flavoured Turkish delight. This fragrance is my regular coffee time but in an old timey church in a fantasy realm. I can smell the divine tranquility in its notes. This not only a fragrance, this is a whole experience. It takes me to places, it tingles my brain, moves my feelings. Definitely oriental, definitely odd but timeless, a modern classic. Fragrances are very personal and the way they make us feel is strongly tied to our memories. I wish I could send the perfumer my sincere gratitude in person.

i've never loved rose scents that much but somehow this is my signature fragrance; i wear it every day. the rose is done so well as it opens with a fresh scent and dries down to smell more incense-y which i adore. the rose isn't overpowering, too grandma-y, or nauseating, it's mature and mysterious and even a little gothic in the best way. i don't detect any coffee at all, but i'm completely fine with that as the other notes hit so perfectly. the sillage and longevity are really amazing too, just all around great perfume (+ the bottle/presentation is to die for lol)

i'm not much of a fan of rose frags, but i like this one a lot. got it as a gift from my husband and wasn't expecting to like it so much, but it really sticks with me. this perfume actually was the one that got me to shift to more mature fragrances (my old favorite was fantasy by britney spears) it opened my eyes a bit. it isn't too rose-y, not too smoky either. it gets me a lot of compliments. THOUGH, it doesn't last very long or project well unless i do 5-6 sprays. which, for the price, kinda bugs me. i don't see myself repurchasing it due to this issue...

This was love at first sniff to me! I remember testing it last summer when it first came out, I had no idea that Tom Ford had a new release - I wasn't going to test it that day as I don't normally like rose scents. But my bf said I should, and I am glad I listened. I ended up getting the 100ml bottle and it is one of my top 3 fragrances now. Love it! The coffee and rose compliment each other very well. Also I don't really have any other coffee fragrances.This is an every day yet special fragrance that can be worn all year round.

Looking at the notes, I was afraid that this has a strong coffee note and can be cloying. So I decided to try it at Sephora. To my surprise, this is one of the best Rose scent that I come across. The coffee note is not significant. I was quite sick of rose scented perfumes but I am starting to change my mind with this. The dry down smells a little green and woody on my skin . The packaging is so beautiful with the purple bottle. So I went ahead and ordered a 30 ml bottle and I think this could be my next signature scent .

Bravo Tom Ford. I bought full bottle of Cafe Rose even if I still have got previous version from 2012 which is unisex. I'm in love with this perfume😍 It's lighter, fresher, but less cafe, smokiness, darkness, not heavy, dry down is less masculine, but still very elegant rose there. I'm using new version all year round and older versions for autumn and winter only. I love both, but new version is not that strong which I prefer. If I would have to choose one, it would be Cafe Rose new release 🤩

I understand the criticisms of this fragrance, but this is one that I really love. Something about it is intoxicating to me. I love the way it’s crafted and I love the mix of rose and coffee. I do think it’s a bit overpriced but this is definitely a guilty pleasure for me, especially considering I’m a man. I’ll never wear this one in public but will always keep it just to wear at home for my own pleasure

The most accurate translation of flowers to fragrance that I've smelled so far. The coffee is a bit lost to my nose, but it might not help that I constantly get hung up on how incredible the rose portion smells. Dark yet warm and inviting. Definitely fem-leaning to me, but still in unisex territory. Dark enough that men can easily pull it off, especially layered with a leather, tobacco, or smoky cologne.

I really really like this one, and if it matters to you, it is also a compliment-getter. It has the same DNA as Black Orchid with added rose and a bit of coffee, although the coffee is really hard to detect.The sillage, projection, and longevity are way above average especially on clothing. In my opinion, it can be worn in all seasons if you are careful how much you spray.

I'm Catholic. My late mom once had a handmade wooden rosary with beads dyed dark red and it had a strong rose scent added. I loved it. As soon as I sampled Cafe Rose at Sephora, it brought back memories of my mom and her rosary. The ose and wood lasted several hours, and I smelled the coffee at the end. I am a coffee drinker too. This will definitely be my next purchase.

Very pretty, it is the most similar perfume to Rose de Chine out of A LOT that I tried. The rose isn't as clear and myrrh isn't there. But the smokiness that is here is enough to imitate myrrh, and rose is also prominent but just more blended with the smokey notes. Longevity is worse than of Rose de Chine but it is still good. For this price, I think it is worth buying.

So many people don't like this perfume! But for me was an instant love ❤️. It's the only one that i have that has a coffee note. Because i hate this note. Until now. This one is dark coffee with dusty roses and sandalwood. I can smell ylang and patch too. I like it and i find this one like a great Halloween fragrance 😄😍 dark mysterious and Gothic 👻👻

I think this is coffee and rose done right. A fresh rose with some woods and spiciness. The coffee isn't really prominent but plays the background like someone's just finished a mocha sitting at a small table with fresh red roses and a hardback book. Very pretty and put together. I really look forward to wearing this in the cooler weather.

Like any TF, this is immorally priced, but this also may be not only my favorite TF (even more than Ombre Leather), but my favorite rose patchouli fragrance. Absolutely incredible. The hint of coffee makes the opening really novel but, even as the novelty fades, this particular iteration of rose and patchouli is genuinely perfect.

PLEASE fellow men, this is not a very feminine fragrance, or atleast to my nose it isn't. It kinda gives me oud like vibes I'm surprised it wasn't one of the notes in the fragrance. I tried this at a local fragrance shop and I fell in love with it. Highly recommend for guys aswell but it definitely isn't blind buy safe. 9.5/10

I think this is beautiful and I love it. It's very vintage, like 80's, smelling to me. I think that's part of the appeal. It doesn't smell like everything else on the market now. I don't think it's masculine but it's not super feminine either. This probably one that people either love or hate, no in between.

Starts off quite nice like an earthy rose, but the dry down is where it lost me. I couldn’t figure it out until I read it in someone else’s review and immediately got it. Toilet gel. It starts to dry down into floral scented toilet gel in the mid. And then it’s really nice again. What a journey.

the reviews on this one have me feeling like I’m in Arkham Asylum. For me the coffee note is present and just right, really rounding out a very realistic rose. Like wearing Dior Rose n’ Roses in a coffee shop. Idk I think it’s worth having, it’s different! “Origami Rose” is a good dupe also!

I did NOT expect to fall in love, but here I am, head over heels for this fragrance. I've always loved rose, but it's so difficult to get right. The coffee and spices bring the heady roses down to earth. It's very romantic, intimate and lasts forever on my skin. I need this in my life.

I smell coffee and I don't get how most people don't. It's not a cup of coffee, it's a certain note that adds warmth and a gourmand nuance, it's not just a patchouli depth, there's something more to it. Anyway, I truly love it! I'm a rose lover and this is so gorgeous!!

After diving into retro and vintage perfumery and keeping my nose out of (hyper)modern fragrances for some time, i've re-visited Cafe Rose. I am pleasantly surpirised. Enamoured by this spicy Rose with a syrupy quality. Coffee comes through in deep drydown

I adore this fragrance. Reminds me alot of Tom Ford Black Orchid in the opening but dries down to a sweet rosey-coffee fragrance. Two ingredients I find delicious and inviting. And I love to wear this as a man. 10/10!

Really nice spicy and almost vintage rose scent. I don't really pick up on the coffee much but its a great perfume. The price is really the only bad thing. Ive gotten lots of compliments on this one.

Delicious jammy rose. Great scent for young adulthood into the twilight of your life honestly. Someone will find this in their mid 20's and never buy a different scent. LOVEEEEEE AHHH

I used to own the original cafe rose and this is a fresher version of the original. This version is Less dusty. I am very happy with my purchase and I love this bottle design.

Iit was a wonder for me to new this perfume.Ive been using it nearly one year.When it's finished, I need one more.. to my nose this perfume has an indian insence sticks vibe.

This is everything I wanted Eau de Protection to be. The rose is gorgeous but still dark and spicy. Not too much patchouli. Love it 💖 but can't afford to wear every day.

To me, this smells like a black tea with rose petals with its top notes, and fades more into a musty, earthy rose. I like it, but it's way overpriced.

Very pretty, I like it. To my nose, "Café Rose" is like a hybrid of ''Rose 31" (Le Labo) meets "The Bewitching Yasmine" (Penhaligons). It has almost the exact same coffee/cardamom top-note found in TBY, with the dry, woodsy/spicy unisex rose of 31. Comparisons to Malle's "Portrait of a Lady" are seriously objectionable -- POAL is a deep, juicy, ruby-red raspberry rose jam w a prominent black, chocolate cake-y patchouli + incense-y finish. Café Rose is a dry, spicy, slightly "green", aromatic or herbal feeling patchouli; the rose in CR is not fruity. I'm not getting any "smokiness" in CR; but I'm one who has tried seriously smoky fras like Malle's "Monseur" & LeLabo "Patchouli 24". I will firmly state this is not at all akin to "Intense Cafe" (Montale); which is brewed espresso, caramel-vanilla syrup, and rose jam gourmand. Which reminds me -- never, ever trust the "reminds me of" section of this app. Apparently, people thumbs up/down anything with a similar note composition, when in reality the fragrances in question have little to no similarities outside of listed notes. I get that fragrance is "subjective", but I'm guessing that most have never actually tried what they're up/down voting. Even doing it out of pure spite; for example, look at any Jeremy Fragrance or Trump branded fragrances, & fragrances which haven't even been launched yet! They're literally just pressing buttons spitefully, like a smooth brain does, just because they can. Last I knew, Montale is not available in your local Sephora. The only way to really know is to try a decant of a fragrance for yourself because the "reminds me of" at this point is totally pointless. Anyway, I appreciate the commenter who told us to "put (our) Tom Ford glasses on" 🤓. It really is a rather beautiful, *high quality*, unisex interpretation of a spiced, yet fresh, almost like citrus🍋🟩/lime, stemmy & woody pink rose; giving at least 4 hours of strong projection.

You’d have to smell this fragrance 20 times in a row, for several minutes each time, just to detect a vague warm nuance that isn’t detailed enough to identify as coffee. Even after 20 hours, you can barely smell anything other than rose. To me, this is essentially a single-note rose fragrance, but without the usual elements that often weigh rose down, such as oud, leather, vanilla, or patchouli. (The patchouli here is thankfully barely noticeable.) It’s clean and well-balanced, neither too light nor too heavy. Its main drawback is the quality and the relatively flat composition, especially considering the price. A good rose fragrance, but only as a rose fragrance. 7.5/10

I will start by saying I’m not usually a “rose” person, but lately I’ve been giving rose scents a try. The last time I was at Sephora, I tried this one on. It has a dusty, spice-drawer quality to it that is quite pleasant. It feels like a classic, even though it’s new. It’s not an everyday fragrance for me—it’s quite chic and put-together. It would be great for people who are “rose-curious” and want something floral without feeling aldehydic or overly sweet and freshly plucked. I think it would also pair nicely with any earthy or spicy lotion. However, I understand why some people may feel betrayed by the promise of coffee. If you’re looking for coffee, definitely skip this, as I’m sure you’ve seen in other reviews. Personally, I can overlook the absence of coffee scent—although as someone who spills coffee on themselves often, I dislike when that scent mixes with my perfume. Perhaps working in a café while wearing this would actually enhance the coffee note, if you’re specifically looking for it. If it were nameless and didn’t include the suggestion of coffee in its title, I think people would appreciate it more for what it is- a spicy rose suggestive scent.

It took me about a year to finish the little 2ml sample I got at a store. I liked it from the very beginning, loving the simple rose fragrance, but it never really struck me as more than a simple rose water type of scent. This is coming from someone that loves Black Orchid, Noir Extreme, Noir de Noir type of fragrances, and it just never had that level of depth and the mystery that those dark Tom Ford fragrances have that I love. For all this time, I figured that it was no better than a very basic rose fragrance, like Zara’s ‘C’Est La Rose’. So why is it that when I spray the very last from the sample that suddenly, it starts speaking to me more, and I can tell the soft nuances that make it so delicious, like the patchouli, ylang-ylang and frankincense. Why is that suddenly I get tempted to get a bottle after all? Ugh, I’m still going to hold out a bit for now, but it’s pleasant. Not completely what I expect from Tom Ford, not very unique, but pleasant and beautiful.
