Eau de Grey Vetiver

Pure delight. This is the same Grey Vetiver EDP, but now it opens with a cascade of citrus blended with iris - not powdery like in Dior Homme, but closer to the iris flower itself, in the style of Jean-Claude Ellena: cool and slightly dewy. Transparent and crystal-clear. One of the most beautiful openings in men’s perfumery I’ve encountered recently. The classic version has very little citrus at the start; instead, it features a dry, restrained accord that very distantly resembles Bois Impérial by Essential Parfums, minus the akigalawood. In this version, however, the emphasis is on a citrus-iris accord, and the vetiver note barely peeks through them. But after about 20 minutes, the citrus fades, leaving the classic Grey Vetiver EDP, though in a somewhat lighter form. The difference from the EDP is that the latter is woodier, and its vetiver is slightly juicier and deeper, whereas in Eau de Grey Vetiver the focus shifts toward an airy iris-musky cloud with sparkling citrus touches, only lightly shaded by vetiver. In the base, vetiver remains, blended with iris and a transparent, fresh musk. And now the most important thing: I don’t pick up any amberwood which I usually cannot stand. I was ready for it to ruin everything, as it often does for me, but here its presence is completely neutralized. I can’t even trace it, which I’m incredibly pleased about. I love the original version, and this version impressed me a lot. It is a somewhat more watery, lighter version of the EDP. Everything else I love about the original - its crystalline clarity, lightness, refinement, elegant allure, and that flowing, ringing aldehydic-neroli-smoky clean vetiver - is all here too. Among the ingredients listed are oils of lemon peel, of Virginia juniper, of lemongrass, of clove, of orange peel, oakmoss extract (Evernia prunastri), and orange blossom oil. The official note pyramid is listed as: Key notes: Iris Bergamot accord Grapefruit accord Iris Musky accord Vetiver (essential oil + special extract) An excellent new release from Tom Ford - a more citrusy Grey Vetiver. If I could choose the name of this perfume, I would name it, just like the original version, Silver Vetiver, rather than Grey. I must confess, despite my huge collection, I’m ready to call Grey Vetiver and this citrus version the ideal men’s fragrance available on the market today. For me, it combines in perfect proportions everything that could be considered ideal in a modern men’s perfume. P.S. I do suspect that Eau de Grey Vetiver (2026) is actually a direct reincarnation of the discontinued Grey Vetiver Eau de Toilette (2014), which I never had the chance to try.

Yes, that is true. Yesterday I stepped by at TF counter at he airport in Toulouse. 100 ml for about 135 euro, 50 ml for 98. I was shocked, thought it had to be fake or smth, cause never heart about this upcoming. It was blind buy, the Lady at the counter was not aware what she had, she offered me as a tester Grey vetiver parfum and stubbornly claimed that the newest one is soleil neige in the signature line. As for one day testing, lasts long 6h+ so far, is very uplifting. Maybe it is just me or I don't know but after COVID time I had a felling that they reformulated grey vetiver EDP ,it was huge difference between my bottle from 2020 and from 2022. But this, to me smells like old grey vetiver EDP. Love it. We'll see later with further tests.

Already available in Estonia, smelling it right now on my wrist. It's my favorite version for sure. Parfum is too serious/heavy. EDP/EDT I catch that slight "oldish" vetiver vibe sometimes. This one --- clean, light, masculine, elevated, polite, pleasant, ageless. Any time, any day, any weather, any occasion. Perfect for daily wear, and elevated enough for occasions. I'll be getting full bottle. Think "Prada L'Homme L'Eau" version of grey vetiver. But decidedly masculine, unlike Prada that is unisex with it's sweetness, all the while maintaining that effortless lightness. Prada infusion d'vetiver also comes to mind - but this is better. Performance is okay for this profile - I would spray this on clothes for it to last a full day.

Really nice fresh and clean scent. Its a bit floral and woody after the nice citrus opening. Its litterly 0 sweetness I can not detect any amberwood. Just fresh, clean and smoky in the drydown! Been wearing it during the whole week performance is so and so sadly you get a good 4-5 hours. The opening and the mid is my favorite with the citrus floral freshness. Got a 100ml bottle 25% off with a coupon code so im happy. Will blast this during the whole summer. Time will tell if I will rebuy a bottle.

@Sloth after having worn it out 5 times now, I‘d say it performs according to its EdT concentration. Good projection but not a scent trail or longevity monster. Which imo is very fitting for its character. To me it’s a very classy and grown up version of a dumb reach that doesn’t choke people out and never feels too much. For cold weather and/or evening gatherings I‘d choose something more persistent or alluring but this is also not what I expected from an GV EdT. Cheers

Without having the EDP on hand, just from what I remember, this is a spicier and fresher version, more citrusy but completely maintaining the original DNA. It smells like Grey Vetiver from the opening to the dry-down. A side-by-side comparison would be necessary, but in the absence of that, for fans of the original, I think it's a very good flanker for keeping the essence and scent intact.

This fragrance does exactly what it promises: it’s a fresher, lighter, and more citrusy version of the eau de parfum. It retains the same DNA but presents it in a more airy and vibrant way. It’s an exceptional scent, and in some ways, I even find it more harmonious than the eau de parfum, which comes across as denser. This one feels more diffused and nuanced.

@Perezoso That's right. Now available at all airports in Spain, exclusive until late April, early May. I like it a lot, I use it more these days and I enjoy its lightness and rotation of the original DNA. Good launch and cheap. 96 € at the airports.

According to TF boutique staff, after consulting their shipment lists, it will be available in Danish retail last week of April. Looking very much forward to trying this!

I love the original Grey Vetiver edt. Here’s to hoping that Estee Lauder doesn’t F it up, but judging by the note breakdown and past experiences, I'm worried. :-(

Can confirm, just bought it in Barcelona airport. Need to compare to EdP at home. First impression: slightly fresher take on the EdP but same DNA without a doubt.

I'm not a massive vetiver fan, but I fancied something light, with a little bite to cut through the recent heatwave humidity. I was surprised by the relatively low price for a TF frag and thought I had relatively little to lose. It's bright and dry and clean, and really quite pleasant. For what it's worth, my wife and (female) colleagues seem to like it quite a bit more than me, which was a surprise. Once the faintly bitter, pithy lemon/grapefruit fades, you're left with touch of herbaceous grass, dry wood and a wisp of smoke but the overwhelming sensation is cleanliness and professionalism. I'm not feeling a deep connection here, it's not a fragrance where I'm desperate to go back to my wrist to search for the delightfully elusive notes, but it's 'effective'. It makes me feel refreshed, and it puts a little extra stretch in my stride.

Nice fragrance. As you’d expect, a lighter version of the EdT. Sadly, the sillage and longevity are truly among the worst I’ve ever encountered. Even for an eau, this is fleeting and faint. Gone in half an hour or less. I won’t be repurchasing.

Mediocre attempt. Incredibly synthetic and luckily doesn’t last that long. Don’t waste your money on this. Reminds me of a Zara fragrance at 1/4 the price.

Go read the review left by @Woooster below. They're spot on with most of what they wrote about the actual scent, except for the comparison to the discontinued Grey Vetiver EDT. I used to own the EDT, and this new EDT is 100% not the same fragrance as that old one. First of all, hell yes. THIS is how brands should approach new releases of classic fragrances in 2026. Retain the same core DNA but tweak it just enough to give a new experience. Not completely bastardizing the DNA, just giving it a lift. I just tested this out at CGK airport in Jakarta before my flight to Haneda. I was surprised to see it at the duty-free here in Jakarta, thought it was only available in Europe as of this date, before the main worldwide launch. In a nutshell, this is a smoothed-out, "airier" version of the EDP. While the EDP definitely isn’t “harsh” (I’ve worn it for years and love the stuff), it's always had that slightly astringent (in a good way!) “straw hat” kind of smell, with vetiver leading the show. You can still smell the vetiver in this, but that note here is toned down way more than in the EDP. This smells much more “rounded”. The citrus in the EDP has always smelled quite “sharp” to me, almost bitter, whereas the citrus used in this is much more “rounded” and leads off with more of the orange blossom than grapefruit, as opposed to the heavier grapefruit of the EDP. Fans of Grey Vetiver EDP will understand what I mean by that. Honestly, the "airiness" and diffused nature of this reminds me of that classic Chanel "airy" signature they do so well. Exact same type of feeling with this one, and something that really separates this from the EDP. Think of this as a “softened” version of the Grey Vetiver DNA. Arguably more elegant than the EDP, especially in the opening. Another way I can describe it is if the EDP is for the corporate work grind, then Eau De Grey Vetiver is for after-work drinks in the evening. Still smells professional enough for work environments, though. Does not smell at all similar to these at all, but this reminds me of what Guerlain has done with Vetiver Parfum and what Hugo Boss has done with Elegant Vetiver, i.e., that recent trend of vetiver fragrances that have been softened and smoothed down with vetiver playing a supporting role instead of being the main star. Best thing is that they haven’t ruined the DNA or bastardized it into some sort of modern amber heavy or akigalawood monstrosity. They’ve retained the same Grey Vetiver DNA, just elevated it and modernized it for 2026. Caveat: I want to test it out again to confirm, but it evaporated off my skin fairly fast. I suspect the OG EDP has this beat in terms of performance/longevity, which is to be expected. I get around 6-7 hours with my current bottle of the EDP. This had already died down quite a bit by the 4-hour mark, which was a bit alarming. All in all, this is a complete win in my books. Will be buying a bottle ASAP. If you enjoy the core Grey Vetiver DNA, then I honestly can’t see how you could dislike this. 9/10

Agree with everything that @delancy says below. I recently bought a 100ml bottle. This is lovely but quiet weak in both projection and longevity. At first, as well as the expected GV DNA, I also got a nice floral note coming through quiet notably, almost like violet, but as only iris and orange blossom are mentioned I suppose it must have been them. However, subsequent, more spray heavy wearing's, have not given me that floral note, and also faded pretty quickly. Basically all I got was a weaker take on the EDP. Where did that lovely floral note go? The opening is lovely, and the scent in general is very nice, just not different enough or strong enough to buy in place of the EDP in my opinion. I shall continue to wear it and see how it goes.

Update: Bought a bottle while doing my regular work trip transit through Haneda Airport. Strangely, it was priced lower than the OG EDP by around 4,000 yen. Will echo my same sentiment from below: this is a softer, more rounded (less of that angular grapefruit burst in the opening of the EDP; instead, this has way more emphasis on the orange blossom floral), and ultimately airier take on the Grey Vetiver DNA. However, my suspicions are correct now that I own a full bottle. Longevity/performance is 100% definitely lacking compared to the EDP. However, since technically this is an EDT strength, I guess that is to be expected, really. Great stuff; if you like the Grey Vetiver DNA, then you will like this also. 9/10

Currently available at John Lewis Trafford Centre (Manchester, UK). I tried what I thought was Grey Vetiver EDP on a tester and carried on shopping. I noticed it smelt wildly different and thought they might have reformulated the EDP but clearly this must have been what I tested. Very clean and airy but did seem to have good performance for what it's worth. It does away with the nutmeg entirely. Definitely a worthy EDT addition.
