Fougère d’Argent

I originally had a review below that I'd edited a few times, but it was in jeopardy of becoming a wall of text (as this is about to be) if I continued to update it, so here are my thoughts after about six months experience with this fragrance. To sum up what I said before: I stumbled upon this in my local Nieman Marcus and initially loved the scent on a card. I soon was taking home a sample, but I found the performance to be lacking in both projection and longevity when sprayed on my skin. Within a few wears the excitement was gone, although the scent itself I found to be a rich and sophisticated aromatic. Metallic lavender with tonka bean sweetness. Smooth. Quite different from the fougeres I've tried up until now. Slightly masculine, but typically unisex and showcasing the modern characteristic that so much of the private blend shares (which is sometimes described as feminine, or "Tom Ford DNA"). My initial impression was, "fantastic fragrance, but not worth the money because of the abysmal performance". Then, after wearing my sample out a number of times more, and getting a few unsolicited, and quite enthusiastic, compliments (some within an hour of applying, and some a good few hours after applying), I realized that the performance was much better than I'd thought. After an hour the initially great projection falls to what I would describe as "close," but not "skin close". A few of the unsolicited compliments came from people standing near me, but not exactly leaning in or getting up in my personal space (if that makes sense). On some days I've caught wiffs of myself at around the seven hour mark, so there's that. I also noticed that it will stay on clothes all day. Over the course of a few more wearings I fell in love with it all over again and I began to justify the price tag. I'd had a complete change of heart. (Plus, I found that second hand stock can be found on the internet for far less than retail so I suppose that played a part as well.) And so I bought a 50ml bottle. Since wearing it more and more I've come to realize how versatile a fragrance like this is. Initially the impression I got was that this would be great for business casual to formal events - wearing it into the office or even to a wedding when dressed up. And this works great for those occasions! However, I've found it to also work great in almost any occasion. Casual wear, night out, etc. Sophisticated is a great descriptor, but it is not stuffy or strict. I wouldn't even call it formal, although it certainly could be worn at a formal occasion. There is a bit of charm to the opposite gender (in my experience) so one might even say there's an element of sex appeal. Granted, it has only been fall and now winter since finding this fragrance so I can't speak to the warm weather suitability, but I would think at the very least it would be acceptable in an office environment year around. I've seen many comments that FdA could be skipped in lieu of other, cheaper fougeres, and I have no doubt the people who say this are more experienced and knowledgeable about fragrance than I am. However, I find it to be modern and versatile in a way I've yet to discover in the other fougeres I've tried. I absolutely think I've found an almost perfect signature scent for me.

I made the mistake of overlooking Fougère d'Argent & Fougère Platine when they first came out in 2018. By the time I was in the market for some more Tom Ford, Beau De Jour had just been released at the start of 2019, & I instantly went for the big bottle. Absolutely love it. But WOW, did I miss out on a couple great scents. Even with giving them a test wear, my expectations - or better put, my preconceived notions - clearly ruined my first impressions of both d'Argent & Platine. Revisiting my samples, both are fantastic & worth owning alongside BDJ. I love all 3 & to me, they each fit a mood, although they're entirely interchangeable to suit yours. All 3 are going to be general crowd-pleasers. D'Argent is the safest but it's a bit deceptive. It really evolves a lot & while it doesn't strike the wearer as potent, it is. It projects more than you realize & even 8 hours in with a couple sprays on each arm, I'm getting wafts of wood, citrus & lavender, even though it seems like it's down to a skin scent when sniffed directly. Definitely agree with the comment about this being along the lines of a ADP fragrance, in a very good way. Platine is more herbaceous & bracing, or "cooling". It's probably the hardest to quit sniffing of the 3. The blend is just fantastic & so soothing. A bit more "serious" than d'Argent, Platine strikes me as mature, confident & sexy... Perfect for the office, a date, or dinner with friends. That leaves Beau De Jour (in my case, the Private Blend version) as the screamer. It's definitely the most unapologetic one of the trio. I absolutely love it & get tons of compliments on it... But if you appreciate BDJ, you'd probably love Platine & d'Argent, too... Admittedly, you may need a couple wears to realize it, but at least you'll smell great doing it. IMO all 3 are safe blind buys. As fougeres they're masculine leaning but they all smell so good I'm sure some women will love wearing these, too. All 3 are clean & fresh with some edge & clever twists to them. It's straight to FB's + backups for me. 3 excellent releases... TF is on the right track with these.

#514 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Fougere D'Argent is a great scent, no debate about it. Love a classic barbershop frag. I wore Gucci Envy for years. There's some commonality here, maybe 50%. Envy was more floral and had an incense note that's absent here. Damn Gucci for discontinuing it. Nothing they've released since comes close. I feel the same about Gucci Nobile. Note-wise this struck me as close to Jacques Bogart Silver Scent Intense, but the quality of the Silver Scents is god-awful, even for $20 frags, which is not the case with the other Bogart scents I've tried. This also struck me as similar to Nishane Hacivat Oud, though in my opinion inferior to that scent. That's no shame. Damn near everything is inferior to Hacivat Oud to my nose. I love Hacivat, and I really love Hacivat Oud, but I don't love it $650 worth. Not sure I love this Tom Ford scent $200 worth. I may try Dua's dupe "Chivalry" at $65 to see if it really is a dupe. I keep threatening to try the Dua frags and this may be my motivation. If you like barbershop scents and can accept EDT performance, which I have accepted in the Replica scents, you may like Maison Margiela "At the Barber's", which to my nose is the barbershop across the street from the home I grew up in. Pinuad Clubman, Jeris, Eau de Portugal, the Pinaud barber powder, the smell of hot lather. "At the Barber's" delivers that fond memory for $90 a bit better than this Fougere D'Argent, but at lesser quality. It's not an EDP and barely lasts till lunch on me, and I have the same complaint about all their scents, which I desperately wish would be reformulated as EDPs. Unlike the cases of EDTs I donated away for Christmas, I love the Replica scents too much to give them up, and I think you'll really enjoy them too if you haven't tried them out.

Tom Ford Private Blends have finally explicitly dipped into fougere territory, this time with the brand's own re-imagining of the formula, oakmoss being replaced with akigala wood, said by one source to be a enzymatic variation of patchouli. The opening of orange, lavender, and ginger is bright and freshly sharp but very much short-lived on my skin, drying down relatively quickly over the course of 1-2 hours to the sweet, semi-animalic blend of coumarin, labdanum, and the abovementioend akigala wood, which lends the spicy character of patchouli that the oakmoss would have provided. Perhaps due simply to the labdanum/coumarin pairing, Fougere d'Argent is noticeably sweeter than most fougeres (or even most near-fougeres like Chanel Pour Monsieur), and perhaps that's in the more modern trend of masculine fragrances leaning sweeter. This is branded unisex by virtue of its inclusion in the Private Blend line, but even a deviation from the traditional fougere rings masculine. Performance is solid, reflective of the price and that, genre-wise, Fougere d'Argent is year-round-friendly and while I regard it as more of a daytime option, it can certainly suit someone at night, and surely for formal scenarios as well. The lower end of the Private Blend pricing is now up to $235 for 50ml as evidenced by this new release and its sibling, Fougere Palatine, so this is wholly in the category of "need to love it in order to buy a full bottle" and even with one wearing, I expect Tom Ford has won me over with the innovation and versatility of the fragrance, but more wearings of my decants will follow. 8 out of 10

This is a really, really good fougere. It has that "Fougere thing" where you instantly know it's a fougere when you spray it. So in that sense, it's classic or gentlemanly. But then it becomes something more than that. There is a sweetness in this which develops so beautifully. Let's talk about the performance. This is a fragrance that doesn't continuously project hard, and trust me, you don't want it to otherwise it would become annoying or even headache inducing. This is a fragrance that you will continue to catch beautiful wafts of for hours. You may think you don't smell it for a bit, and then it comes back. I suspect this is a fragrance you can go partially nose blind to. So, I notice some people saying they can't detect it even with a lot of sprays. That might be why. If you have a legitimate bottle of this fragrance, it's very strong and long lasting. In my opinion, it needs to be colder outside to wear this. 65F/18C or below. And I would suggest 2 sprays and definitely not more than 3. The first time I tested this fragrance I did 3 sprays and it was sunny and like 78F or something. And after a few hours I did start to become irritated by it because it was just a little too much in those conditions. I really think the key to enjoying this fragrance is low sprays and most importantly wearing it in the appropriate weather conditions. This is a fragrance that has to be worn properly to be appreciated. This is one of the best fougeres on the market. A classic scent profile made modern and a bit alluring. It's of the highest quality and really a special fragrance from the house of Tom Ford.

I have been loving this fragrance since 2018. At the time when I received my first bottle as a gift, I had no idea what a fougere was and no preconceptions about perfumery in general. I simply thought it smelled very good, and so I wore it. Just about every day. As my knowledge and appreciation of perfumery has grown, my love for Fougere d'Argent has increased with it. This is not a fougere for purists: it does not belong in an Edwardian-styled bottle, nor does it take you on a barbershop-themed nostalgia trip. Other excellent options such as Beau de Jour and Sartorial will gladly fill those roles. Fougere d'Argent grasps the underlying DNA and takes it in a sweeter, spicier, darker, and altogether more modern direction. More synthetic than its traditional counterparts? To some fragheads it may smell that way, particularly in the potent opening of coumarin, ginger, and orange. Yet most of the noses on the street will not care, will not even know the difference between this and something more "proper." Over four years of wear I have received countless compliments from people of all ages. The stuff just smells great. You can dress it up or down. Its oriental side gives a refreshing edge, and its woody/spicy/warm heart is intoxicating as you approach. It is a genuinely unique fragrance, and those who enjoy it will easily be able to make it a signature. I have heard of this being discontinued a couple of times over the past years, and I hope that it isn't for real this time around.

Oh, how much I love this fragrance. A true masterpiece, if I say so myself. I've gone through three bottles of this now, and each time I fall in love with it all over again. This cologne is a hidden gem, and for some reason, it’s incredibly underrated. It’s not available in most of Tom Ford's retail lines, which is surprising to me. I used to work as a perfumer for Tom Ford, and I was actually the only one who could successfully sell this fragrance. It has a moderate to strong projection, with a beautiful blend of wood, spicy, floral, and citrus notes that make it so unique. The one small con I have is that sometimes it smells a bit like silver to me, but it's subtle and doesn’t take away from its overall appeal. If you’re familiar with Tom Ford’s private line, you know that it’s all about layering, and this fragrance shines in that regard. I find it absolutely awesome when layered with Oud Wood for a deeper, woody mix. It also layers perfectly with Neroli Portofino, creating an incredible combination. Honestly, I mix them all and never get tired of the results. This fragrance is versatile, unique, and definitely worth the attention it deserves.

After trying a sample of this, I've come to the conclusion that this may be my favourite fougere. It's a somewhat modernized take on the genre but done with exceptional quality so that it supersedes the inevitable comparisons with another modernized fougere: B-612 by Nishane. B-612 is more rough around the edges. In contrast, Fougere D'argent is incredibly smooth - the soft, smooth vanillic or coumarin touch is what is responsible. To simplify, what I mainly get is lavender + shaving cream aroma + something akin to Iso-E-Super or another type of synthetic woodiness that has various facets within (but, hear me...this synthetic woodiness is done with impeccable quality...it doesn't bother my nose in any way). As part of this, you may pick up on a slight metallic touch. No oakmoss or very bitter green stuff here like in old-school fougeres. Let me stress again, this is a very smooth and modernized fougere WITH an edge. It's smoother than Beau De Jour , hence why it overtakes it as my current favourite fougere. 1. Fougere D'Argent 2. Beau De Jour 3 & 4. (toss up between Houbigant Fougere Royale & Pascal Morabito Or Black 2014)

Very high up in my "barbershop" Fougere collection. Very similar to, and right behind in my collection, Penhaligon Sartorial. Fougere D'Argent is closer to Sartorial in scent profile than to its Tom Ford cousin Beau de Jour. Beau de Jour is #1 in my collection, but they are different enough to not be redundant in a collection. D'Argent is closer to a traditional Fougere to me than Beau de Jour, probably with more sweetness than a classical Fougere. Guess they swapped out the traditional Fougere oakmoss for sweet, creamy ambery facets of labdanum. But Beau de Jour, with its beautiful aromatic mint contributions, is the more unique and beautiful of the two very beautiful fougeres. And it's funny how I thumbed down so many of the "This perfume reminds me of....." frags listed above. Just because two frags are Fougeres doesn't mean they are necessarily THAT similar. But yes I know scent perception is to a degree subjective and variable. But I think most of the funny choices are due to a relatively small base of experience. Brut? Not even Rive Gauche Pour Homme is that close.

My number 1 for years, conquers the hearts of everyone nearby, leaves a special mark, so strong that ex-girlfriends call just to confirm the name of the perfume. Mandarin and well-blended lavender last for about the first hour, while later the recognizable note of coumarin and agrawood spreads through Ginger. Lasts up to 9 hours on the skin, while clothes scream coumarin for a few more days. An unforgettable journey for years, my favorite in the collection, if I were to say all the recommendations I would be lying to you, because I want to have it only for myself, if I could choose my perfume for the rest of my life, the choice would fall on Fougere d'argent. Verified information says that Fougere d'argent was worn by Leonardo DiCaprio during the filming of the movie Wolf Street. It felt like you had a diamond necklace around your neck, striking and comfortable to everyone! Recognizable notes of Tom Ford perfumes but it is not known exactly who the creator of the perfume is, someone made a masterpiece and did not want to go public!

A more refined version of AdP Sandalo. AdP Sandalo will actually make this redundant. I would rather buy AdP Sandalo because of the cost and more prominent sandalwood note. The ginger and the mandarin note creates a very airy, mildly fizzy note. Reminds me of the mountain air note in Montobaco Intesivo. I am talking about the feel, not the notes. I actually like the feel here better. The lavender is very high quality and smooth. There is a distinct soapy, woody feel that starts creeping in. A daytime perfume. Great for Office and hot humid weather (on a beach or exploring a place with cobbled streets). Unique - No Longevity - 7hrs+ ( 10+ on clothes) Sillage - Arms Length Trail - Noticeable (Absent/Noticeable/Undeniable/Omnipresent) Extra - If you love airy, cozy notes, you will keep digging your nose in. This is not your regular barbershop. Barbershop on a Mountain Side #in_a_bottle.

I love barbershop fragrances. I love fougeres. It might be my favorite scent profile and I can't seem to get enough of them. Fougere D'Argent is no exception. This is a lovely and elegant take on shaving cream with an added touch of creaminess and gentle sweetness. This element makes it stand apart from the typical moss-centered fougeres. It's the smell of a reserved, well-dressed, and well-groomed gentleman, heading to work on an early autumn morning. The scent also reminds me of Noir Film's as it evokes the 1950s in my mind. The scent feels old fashioned, yet modern, and timeless. Some would say Fougere D'argent is quite versatile. I can see that. However, I can see it shining beautifully in the fall and in the winter due to its creaminess. Glad I was able to give this one another chance as I was not originally convinced at its inception.

We picked up our BIG 8.5oz Decanter today at Nordstrom. What a wonderful scent. We currently have full size decanters of TF Noir de Noir, Tobacco Vanille and Patchouli Absolu, and this d'Argent is a wonderful addition to our collection. d'Argent is fresh, green, spicy, slightly warm and super clean. It smells at once old fashioned and comforting, and yet totally modern. I would say this leans more "masculine", but I have many more "feminine" scents that I wear, that IMO smell better on a man (me) than many "colognes". This d'Argent does not have beast mode of Tobacco Vanille or for sure not as nuclear strong as Patchouli Absolu, but longevity is 4-6 hours and sillage is soft, but not weak. When d'Argent is at the end of it's life...it is a beautiful and soft skin, soapy scent (kind of like German 4711).

One of the best fragrances available right now, the stupidest thing that could happen is if they discontinue this. This is EXTREMELY Woody, it genuinely smells like smoky dark wooden furniture, cabinets and tree resins/gum, accompanied with the most manly aromatic lavender i have ever smelled, it just reeks manliness in the most high class way, this is gorgeously clean and high quality. This is what i want my father and my 33 year old self to smell like, this it what i want to wear during a cool daytime in October and leaves are falling, this is what i wanna wear when i wanna embody the ideal masculinity. One of the best and most refined “Fougere” fragrances on the market right now, ditch the new mens releases, save up and buy THIS, hell even buy the huge 250ml bottle, cause this is WORTH IT.

A very spicy, slightly sweet ginger/syrupy forward scent with gorgeous underlying woods/oud. Very elegant and slightly masculine. The citrus here is very delicately done and does seem to be present at all times. I get hints of incense here that just makes this scent linger in the air or maybe its the Akigalawood which apparently is a note I love as its supposedly like patchouli, pepper and oud. This may be a fougere scent but its definitely not as traditional and rather blended quite well. FdA takes a twist on a genre that many may find dated and modernizes it. Performance is phenomenal, the less sprays the better in my opinion. Received numerous compliments on this one even during covid/masks.

A little spicier and woodier version of a barber shop cologne.The fragrance of the real gentleman who is dressed up and often goes to opera, ballet, theaters, art exhibitions and some other cultural events! My favorite fougére out of the trio in Tom Ford private line with Beau de jour ( signature line already) second and Fougére Platine in the third place! Since i am a keen admirer of the Tom Ford fragrances and my humble perfume collection comprises of approx. 1⁄3 of his stuff i can' t help but mention Fougére D'argent is my top 3 together with Ombré leather and Oud Wood. It is long lasting, projection is polite though. Elegant masculinity in a bottle. It has my 9/10.

One of my first niche fragrances, and my first introduction to the note of ginger, which it turns out I love. This let me know that I was really into fragrance collecting for myself and not to impress others, as while I don't feel like it would garner many compliments, I truly enjoy wearing this. That's not to say that it's not pleasant smelling - I just don't feel like this would have people openly declaring this smells good. It's fresh and light enough for the spring and summer, yet dense enough to stand up in the winter. Projection is strong as well as longevity. I think this is one of the hidden gems of the Tom Ford Private Collection.

This is one of the few fragrances i bought full retail, because i have not found a Fougere fragrance as nice as this one. Compared to other fougeres, this is more dark and creamy and not as clean/fresh smelling. It reminds me of sauvage elixir somehow, but without the showergel Elements and way less oriental/sweet. Just more classy and refined. It’s a mysterious, sexy and dark fragrance. The negatives are obviously the pricing, which is crazy, and the fact that it does not perform on me. I get ok longevity but no projection from my Skin at all and no scent bubble around me. It’s really sad, because i love this frageance so much.

Good lord, this stuff smells great! I got a decant of it and had never heard of it, but after wearing it I just had to look it up to review. It's bold, spicy, sexy, and lightly sweet. A very sophisticated scent where the spiced orange and ginger really shine. It's got a classic scent, reminiscent of older men's fragrances, but high-class and not like cheap after shave. Though if this *was* an aftershave, it would be fitting for sure. It's got a clean, masculine feel to it - not soapy or overly spicy, but still fresh and zesty. I wouldn't wear it in searing hot weather, but otherwise I think it's great. Simple, but great.

When I first got my nose on this fragrance I wasn’t a huge fan maybe due to the opening. Well my thoughts on this immediately changes when the tonka bean, akigalwood and finally the galbanum showed it’s face I couldn’t stop smelling my arm neither could my girlfriend. She said this is what a modern man should smell like during an evening out. The people at Bloomingdales were kind enough to give me three 4 ML samples from the Tom Ford counter for me to really test out before i hand them 240 dollars. And the sillage is close to monsterous. Scent 8.5/10 Performance: 9/10 Sillage :9/10 Compliment factor : 8/10

I absolutely love this cologne! 10/10 one of my all time favorites! This cologne lasts forever! I can spray it in the evening and smell it the next morning on my skin. If I spray it on clothes it will last even longer. This doesn't fill the whole room when you spray it but up close it will stay on you for a long time. This is a very versatile cologne that lasts a long time. If I didn't have a ton of colognes, I would wear this every day despite the price. I've been looking for a good replacement for Armani Eau Pour Homme not that it is discontinued and I found the replacement I have been looking for.

This is better than BDJ in my opinion. I love modern fougere’s but hate the vintage ones. In know that’s blasphemy for some folks but the modern ones seem to insert a metallic coolness that allows the herbal qualities to shine more on my skin. This has similarities to invasion Barbare and sartorial with that metal minty thing. I love that effect. This is a sweeter and very minty take on the modern fougere. A minty lavender shaving foam. One of the best Tom Ford’s. Definetly caution those that are younger with this style, but this one is probably the most “youthful” of all the fougere’s I’ve smelled.

My goodness...I love this one! One of my favorite fougere. I won't breakdown the notes, but the vibe of this one is: masculine, timeless, classy, sharp, strong, and confident. I reach for this in the nighttime, any season. Wore this on a few dates and it's one of those scents that your date will love, but won't compliment you because they are too busy being captivated by your confidence and suaveness. With that being said, you can't be some timid guy with no game and rock this hoping it'll do all the work. You got to have the whole package for this to work.

If there was a bit more projection I would say this was a masterpiece; nevertheless, it is masculine elegance and sophistication. Does not smell like other fougeres: Beau de Jour, Fougere Royale, B-612, Sartorial -- No -- this has a unique fougere backbone that is delightful! Incredibly enjoyable if not somewhat mild in performance. Tom Ford has become my favorite designer house with Beau de Jour, Fougere d'Argent, Grey Vetiver Parfum, Noir Extreme Parfum...truly stunning house, even if it is not inexpensive: Artistry should demand an investment!

I’ve gone by the tom ford counter to sample all the hype beasts in the frag com but honestly none of them moved me like this fragrance. I never would have picked this out, i was beginning to think tom ford just didnt have what i was looking for, then a sales associate came out of nowhere and just randomly sprayed this on a card and handed it to me and i thought to myself “damn” This would make a perfect signature scent, it has a very sophisticated masculine vibe, for me it is a must have, the perfect ambassador from Tom Ford to my collection

Wow, wow, wow, just WOW! New staple in my collection. This is the epitome of a classy gentleman in a bottle. So fresh, spicy, deep and complex despite the minimal notes; yet some how dark all at the same time. It's a very expensive clean and spicy barbershop scent. Guys get your hands on a bottle of this before they decide to discontinue this gem as well. My only complaint is that it doesn't come in a bigger size bottle (3.4 oz) at any of the department stores. All department stores seem to only have 1 oz. and 1.7 oz. bottles as options.

Pure class & sophistication that in my experience, there is no smoother & well rounded Fougere in the fragrance game. Has that Beau de Jour like vibe but, much, much better balanced and not as abrasive in the opening as Beau de Jour can be to some. As a Man, one doesn’t have to look anywhere else when class and being well rounded is the norm and not the exception to the rule, TF Fougere D’Argent is in a class all it’s own. You’ll feel it and recognize it nearly instantly at first spray. A Sin that it has been discontinued....

I've been wearing this one for the last couple years, and realized I never left a review. This is the only Private Blend fragrance that I have a back up bottle of as the 'Discontinuation Fairy' seems to make the rounds every couple of months. This is a definitive fougere with a wonderful, modern tilt. It's complex, long lasting and has a certain panache and savoir faire that so many modern, Ambroxan-laden 'blue' scents lack. It'd be a damned shame if it were discontinued, as I plan to wear this until the end.

Underrated!!!! This is beautiful, mandarine and the ginger and lavender!! Wow! what a winner! this is Tom Ford at his best! It has an aquatic type style to it, fresh and unisex!! I am normally a white floral and leather type girl and I love OUD mineral. This is mindblowing! the initial spray is of mandarine and then the dry down smells of lavender and ginger with a beautiful type freshness that is not only winter but summer. A man can wear this and a female! it oozes style!! OMG, what an amazing scent!!

I thought I recognized and already owned this!! I kept sniffing my wrist and said, "This smells like something I have...". It's amazing how fragrances have the tendency to "twin"...and it smells like one of my favorites, and SADLY DISCONTINUED, Donna Karan Woman. I don't understand how everyone reviewing this fragrance HAS NOT mentioned VETIVER! I finally used some of my sample and blended this with Fucking Fabulous... the pairing was wonderful in 40-degree weather. I will keep this on my wishlist.

I'm late to the party, but I'm glad I got here. I love this fragrance. Clean and masculine without compromise. I'm a little surprised that no on has compared Fougere D'Argent to Penhaligon's The Tragedy of Lord George. IMO there are definately some similarities, especially in the opening. I'd never pay the outlandish prices for a private blend, but I managed to snag a full presentstion tester. I like it a lot but Beau De jour is still the best of the lot. Cheers!

To me this is a lighter version of TF's Beau de Jour. The lavender is toned down here, it's sweeter from the cummarin, it's woodier, smoother and not that in your face lavedner bomb like Bdj. An amazing and modern fougere that it can be your signature scent, you can wear it everywhere, anytime and smell good. Performance is moderate, moderate to good longevity and moderate projection. Overall, i like Bdj a bit more but i wear Fougere d'Argent more often.

Amazingly gorgeous scent. Finally got a bottle... If you’re in US it’s still available at Sephora, Macys , Neiman Marcus, Tom Ford website. I usually don’t like lavender, but I like it here, it’s not super overpowering, I can smell all the notes especially citrus and coumarin... well blended. It’s kinda close to the skin, but I’m ok with that, I enjoy smelling it on myself. Holds for about 7-8 hrs on my skin. Office safe. Wish they had 3.4 fl oz (100ml).

Fougere D’argent is quite similar to another Tom Ford masterpiece which he launched for Yves Saint Laurent called Rive Gauche. But in the case of Fougere D’Argent its less barbershop~y and more refined. The combination of lavender, ginger and akigalawood makes this scent quite sophisticated and smart. Its quite long lasting with decent projection on my skin. Would be perfect signature worthy scent to those who like elegance without any weird nuances.

Very underrated and understated fragrance from Tom Ford. Far from your average fougere; prominently featuring notes of lavender, ginger, and akigalawood, with labdanum and coumarin providing a base of creaminess. It's a linear scent that reminds me of root beer throughout the life of it, but in a classy, low-key way. Can be worn year-around, but better suited for nights during the summer. Very versatile fragrance that deserves more love. 9/10

Just got some of this for Valentine's from the SO. Absolutely amazing fragrance. Aromatic, spicy, boozy, so beautifully blended. This is sophistication in a bottle. For people who want to smell unique, mature, and go against the run-of-the-mill brigade. So many compliments already, I think this will be a big bottle buy. ] Not for everyone, try before you buy. But if you pull the trigger on this you're buying something really, really good.

This is one of my go to wintertime scents. It is the epitome of a warm Christmas Day. Brings me back to a time when I was a kid and the smells that would accompany Christmas and Thanksgiving. This is an incredible fall/winter scent that everyone will love and you won’t be able to stop smelling yourself. Very well blended and high quality oils in here. Highly recommend this for a fall/winter signature scent

Elegant masculine scent that is a combination of classic barbershop fougere and fresh, lightly spiced woods. The notes are superbly balanced and the overall fragrance is very smooth, especially after the first 5-10mins. Imo, this scent is far more interesting and better smelling than Beau de Jour. The only weakness is projection. After the first hour, it is only a skin scent on me. 9/10 overall

Well said @ryanb_a3! Your review made me "re-think" this fragrance, as I also first thought this to be too expensive for such a short-lived scent. Hm... maybe this will be my next buy after all then... Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts after repeated wearings and not just the first initial blast and dry-down (which I guess way too many reviews here at Fragrantica are based upon.....)

This is the first "barbershop" frag I own and excuse me to be boring as I am not a perfume expert, but it literally just smells like sitting in a barbershop and I don't get much more than that. I guess that's why they're called barbershop fragrances lol However, it does smell fantastic, masculine and refreshing in a way and I do love the scent. You can wear it all year, all seasons. 9/10

I am stunned. I have many classy fragrances, most of which can be worn only for special occasions. This one is up there, the upper echelon of classy perfumes that can be used in any situation while having perfect performance (not beast mode, but around you most of the day). Dang, this is what I wanted BdJ to be!!! This stuff is amazing - classic gentleman but sweetened up just enough to be modern. Lavender is here, but not overdosed. The coumarin allows a balance and adds a much needed spice in the base. The labdanum gives everything a buttery edge, so smooth and elegant. Lovely fragrance here, definitely on my full bottle/large decant list now!

Very underrated and slept-on fragrance. As of this writing, it only has 976 reviews and is 8 years old. It is absolutely beautiful and unique in my opinion. It’s one of less than a handful of fragrances that was love at first sniff for me. Perfectly unisex, too. Makes me feel a certain way on days I need a little pick-me-up. I think it’s one of the best from the private line!

A richer,airy version of Beau de Jour with patchouli toned down. Lighter and less harsh especially in the opening. Smells very expensive and people around you will notice because it projects. If you have the money and are a 30+ guy I don’t see what else could be better for the office. It’s so professional and well put together.100/10 for the execution.

Such a deep, dark, fougere. This is very different as it is not the normal green Lavender lead fougere. The Lavender is there but it is accompanied by this spicy incense accord. I know incense is not listed as a note but the Coumarin, Labdanum and Akigalawood play together to make a smokey, dark woody accord. This is a beautiful cold weather scent.

This is definitely one of the best Tom Ford's perfumes for men on the market and the best fougere oriental form TF. I wish it would got the Signature Line, because it much more pleasant and more wearable than Beau de Jour. Fougere d'Argent is sweeter, less sharp than BdJ and addition of mandarin and ginger makes it somewhat similar to Gucci Envy.

Very woody and spicy with barbershop fougere vibe, but not like Rive Gauche. There is also some metallic edge, something like silver. Don't know how to define, maybe I can say high-tech fougere. Not a safe blind buy. Slightly leaning masculine. But still women can pull it off. Very strong, almost watering my eyes. Lasts up to 24h. ★★★★★

Classic, gentlemanly fougere. This exudes understated class and elegance. Quite possibly one of the best in the genre and the performance is fantastic too - lasts all day on me. If you're looking for a fantastic barbershop scent, then look no further than this underrated gem. What else can I say other than this is a masterpiece? Bravo!

I am a woman but I wear this perfume since there is a sense of cleanliness when we wear it. For me personally, the lavender creates a beautiful clean vibe. Though the projection is armslength distance, but it survives more than 6 hours before finally start becomes skin scent. Never turns rancid and I never smell anything close to this

This is a wonderful scent. Very refined, very masculine. And while I like this very much, on my skin it is gone in about an hour. I mean gone. No leftover fragrance, no skin scent, nothing. This is a premium priced eau de parfum, that performs worse than an eau de toilette. Very disappointing performance and practically no sillage.
