Lavender Extreme

You're all gonna come for me cuz I'm going to sound so BASIC compared to my usually (somewhat) more expressive and eloquent self haha..... I felt COMPELLED to come write a review of this because... I'm really confused... You see... I was gifted one of those HUGE decanter bottles of this from a very very good friend... When I saw this GORGEOUS metallic silver box I knew it was Tom Ford but really had no clue which fragrance came in this unusually-colored packaging... And THEN... i saw it: L - A - V - E - N.... Ohhhh nooooo!!! I thought... One of the ONLY notes I HATE... Ok I'm going to give this a try since there's ONE perfume I own and LOVE despite having some noticeable lavender in the top (Maître Parfumeur et Gantier Ambre Précieux).... So I decanted into a gorgeous spray and gave myself a liberal dousing and .... oh...! Wow that's definitely a lavender blast.... Ok ok haha I'll live... "It's the thought that counts right?".... But then.... IRIS....? am I crazy? This sure is getting POWDERY.... yeah there's coumarin / tonka .. probably vanilla too, but there's IRIS ... The lavender faded fairly quickly (probably to the dismay of millions) and I couldn't have been happier... It rather quickly transformed into a powdery orris / tonka / almond / cinnamon... Even a BIT lactonic (only a tiny bit).... I'm now wearing it today having attended a big celebration banquet luncheon and today was perhaps my FOURTH full wearing and I absolutely LOVE this perfume... Do I like lavender now? Honestly I'm keeping an open mind but I actually DON'T THINK I do... I think there's a very strong / striking realistic lavender in this but it SEEMS to morph into something less lavender and more powdery where it lasts FOREVER... impressive longevity... 9/10 and I'm still confused.

I love Tom Ford perfumes however (many will take offence I’m sure) I always have found his perfumes a case of mass marketing hype. I always take caution to sample his latest releases before purchase. Unlike his contempories for the price e.g Xerjoff, Stephane Humbert Lucas 777 and say Parfum De Marly - I find TF to usually last half as long and project at a fraction. I blind buy these and I am rarely disappointed. Unfortunately for them though TFs specialty is great at creating a straight forward “as promoted” scent regardless of its price/performance. I love lavender. I have tried many and other than L’occitane there just aren’t many quality build scents out there (feel free to educate me - maybe I have missed some). I received a number of samples finally. Third bottle in and I’m very impressed. A natural bright lavender bodied out a bit with some tonka (the tonka is mostly prominent nose to skin) and slightly darkened with some cinnamon. The other notes are purely complimentary to add to the body. I didn’t get the same as some below where the tonka starts overriding until today so maybe there is a subtle variation dependant on the chemistry/heat? Despite being classed as a male scent it definitely works for women. Business or casual, cold or hot climate. Despite the fact it is an anosomic scent and whilst suffering the usual TF performance v price I am getting a fairly linear scent a few hours in and good wafts as I work. Next to TF TV this is probably the better in performance compared to Lost Cherry, Plum Japonaise and Mandarino Di Amalfi that I also own and much better than Fucking Fabulous and Beau De Jour at least in linearity and longevity. Looks like I’m up for a bottle...

Overdue to sample this latest Tom Ford release, Lavender Extreme. The eponymous note is obvious from the start, though the other part of the name is puzzling, as nothing feel especially “Extreme” or even “Intense” about it. That said, it’s a nice semi-sweet, semi-powdery lavender blend that feels easy to wear from the onset, and I’m a fan. The note listing is fascinating: lavender, lemon, violet, rose, geranium, cinnamon, and tonka. Primarily a floral bouquet but nonetheless with sweet, spicy, powdery, and citrus influences. It feels balanced and complete. Like others, I do get a bit of the “Play-Doh” vibe, particularly at the opening when it’s going through some changes, but by the dry down, I don’t get much of this at all. Interestingly enough, I’ve had other non-fragheads tell me that they get the same Play-Doh feeling from Dior Mitzah. It’s not particularly a problem for me in either case. Performance is decent on my skin but not on the higher end, roughly somewhere in the range of the last two provocative releases of Lost Cherry and Fucking Fabulous, the latter giving slightly better performance on my skin than the former. Overall, I’m instantly a fan of the scent itself, but as with most Tom Ford offerings, price is a major issue. Lavender Extreme is in the higher echelon of Tom Ford pricing, at $320 for 50ml or $815 for the 250ml flacon (I don’t yet see a 100ml size for sale online), so it’s a very tough sell at retail pricing unless you positively love it. 8 out of 10

In my opinion, this is an exceptional fragrance. I'm not really sure what other people were thinking in regards to saying this was not good. If you are not a lavender fan, then obviously you should not pick up a fragrance called lavender extreme. It's really common sense! Obviously it opens up with a hint of lavender which is exactly what I was looking for. It is a sweet vanilla lavender, with the other notes being more of an supporting character. Definitely leans more feminine, but I can imagine a really attractive man wearing this and him almost being irresistible. The longevity is not as long as Noir de Noir or vanille, but it lasts long enough to consider the price has value. It really is unique in that I've never really smelled another fragrance like it. It still has that expensive feeling from typical Tom Ford fragrances. I purchased mine at full price the moment after I smelled it for the first time at Nordstrom. It really hit me hard and I couldn't resist. I would undoubtedly recommend this fragrance to friends and have a sample ready for anyone.

April 2019 Got a sample at Neimans. When is lavender not in style? Initial spray, lovely lavender for man or women. Husband loves lavender and has an extremely stressful corporate job. Thought I would gift this to him and sneak in some aromatherapy to boot. Maybe this will calm him throughout his day as he wears it. Very quickly after initial spray, the burst of lavender quiets down. Thats good. Corporate America does not appreciate blasts of fragrance wherever you go. But, coming in for a greeting handshake, sitting side by side in a board meeting or on the plane, this would make the statement you want. Its classy and subtle. I could even scent his tie or my scarf with it, giving it a bit more presence and for a longer time. Scent would be appropriate all year, day and night. Business casual to formal and afterwards... to bed. (wink, wink) I agree these Tom Fords are very overpriced, but I can appreciate not smelling like everyone else because the price point is not reasonable for the masses.

A brilliant lavender scent, not something I thought I would EVER say, but it's a must-buy now. I do like lavender, but I never thought of wearing it as a scent because I thought of it as something "simplistic", "something you would get in an aromatherapy kit", just "a linear essential oil", which is just - well - lavender. Nothing special. I thought definitely not paying the big bucks for something that I walk past in the garden, how could anybody take it and turn it into something worthwhile. Well trying other scents I knew it was possible, but come on it's just lavender. Turns out I will have to dish out the cash. You get an extremely clean photorealistic lavender with amber or vanilla facets, that makes you want to constantly sniff your arm or testing card. I guess that's what perfumery is about they took one note and tuned it like an instrument, alongside others to behave or react in a certain way.

Despite an utterly brilliant flash of photorealistic lavender in its opening minutes, Tom Ford’s Lavender Extrême isn’t much of a lavender fragrance. What it is, is a beautiful study in tonka. Past the short-lived geranium nuanced lavender opening, Lavender Extrême’s development sees tonka’s sweet, vanilla-like coumarin character slowly morph into something warmer, more sensuous as cinnamon smoulders against the now almondy tonka bean. Utterly beautiful. Personally, I feel the name does the fragrance a disservice; it’s going to put off those that don’t like lavender and will draw criticism from those that do for the brevity of its eponymous note. Absolutely unisex, the violets and sweet treatment of coumarin keep this from veering too far into aromatic or fougère territory. I've been getting 8 hours wear from this, with decent sillage that has garnered quite a few compliments. 8/10

I feel so lucky: I was able to land a 45 mil tester for 15 euros! I’ve always loved lavender scents in fragrance of any kind, so this one definitely appealed to me, but by the time I heard about it (or by the time I started collecting at all) it was already discontinued. I never expected that I would be able to get my hands on this, but I’m very happy with it. Knowing that 45 mil is all I’m going to get of this in my lifetime, I’m going to cherish this precious liquid, because I really love it! Aromatic scents like these I’m often in the mood for, for sure. It’s not a signature for me, but very comforting for sure. Lavender is obviously the star of the show. It’s very herbal, a tad floral, and it’s comforting and stimulating all at once. Perfectly unisex, very clear smelling, and lasting power is incredible. To me it’s ridiculous they discontinued this.

Blind bought this 10 days ago and just received it this morning. First impression of it on skin reminded me of Guerlain Jicky Extract with less citrus and more spicy. As the scent settled, the Lemon note faded away very quickly as the warm spicy tone of Cinnamon started to join in with the rich aromatic Lavender and powdery Violet Leaf. The scent further developed to become slightly sweet with Tonka and added fresh spicy Geranium and subtle Rose notes to create a sort of spicy warm powdery floral heart. At that point the Lavender scent smelled sophisticated and totally different from most other Lavender based fragrances I have ever tried. It has a somewhat ambery vibe in the background. The dry down is slightly balsamic with a temple incense musky tone to it. So far I love it a lot although it might be more suitable for the slightly cooler months.

I ordered a sample of this through luckyscent, and it's only because it was available and I've recently become a fan of TFs private blends. I can't believe I haven't heard of this more!!! It's soooooooo lovely. Yes, the initial blast is pure, beautiful lavender, but after 15 minutes, that's when things start to get interesting. It always has that lavender note coming through, but the tonka comes to my nose super creamy and almost lactonic. But add to that a spicy/incense note that just plays in the background. After a couple days with the sample I had to order a full bottle. Perfect for casual everyday wear. I'm not sure I'll wear during the hottest days of summer due to the creaminess of it, but we'll see! Also definitely more of a day or casual evening scent and not something I would typically wear for a night out.

Two words: Just. Beautiful. The lavender takes center stage. Compared to my other all natural, organic lavender perfumes, this one is MUCH MORE long-lasting, likely due to the fact Tom used 3 different types of lavender scents, including the absolue, which stays on the skin longer, and the fact this expensive EDP probably has much higher concentrations of the essential oils. In addition to beautiful, layered, long-lasting lavender notes, this perfume also has a fresh citrus (I smell more lemon than bergamot), a little languid geranium, and a cozy, sexy lower note of tonka bean. Will done! Refreshing, comforting and classy. Will purchase the full bottle for myself. ps. This one reminds me of Creed Royal Scottish Lavender, except this Lavender Extreme has less amber and smells prettier and more feminine in my opinion.

I need to admit my bias here. Lavender is my favorite note so I was predisposed to like TF Lavender Extreme. That said, it has become one of my top five fragrances. The opening spray is a burst of very realistic lavender which eventually settles into a creamy, woody lavender fragrance. As a mental health therapist, I like to wear calming scents to the office because it soothes me and sets the atmosphere for my clients. I have been reaching for Lavender Extreme a lot. Price may be an issue for some. Sebastian at Smelling Great Fragrances suggested that Molinard’s Lavande is almost identical to Lavender Extreme. I haven’t tried Molinard’s version but it may be something for you to consider. Personally, I am going to enjoy this bottle until it runs out and probably consider another after that.

I am an absolute sucker for lavender, sharp, clean, herbaceous lavender. This is not really that, but I still absolutely ADORE it. It took me a bit to convince myself to buy due to the price, I am not sure this is actually discontinued as it's quite easy to find even though still ~$375. I have been wearing this for about a week and it just keeps giving. At first it is all fresh, creamy lemon. Nothing sharp in this scent to me. At first I was thinking I got absolutely no lavender, but then it sneaks up to you on the dry down, giving you a gorgeous floral lavender without that powdery/soapyness and then the cinnamon comes in like you're just drifting by someone baking in the kitchen for a subtle, round spiciness. 10/10 and I have no buyer's remorse for the insane price tag.

I always found Lavender boring because I was educated on essential oils before my perfume addiction - thus Lavender was more of a basic "medicine" for headaches & depression. Lavender MUST have been used by companies in making toilet paper and tissues at some point in history because when I was first introduced to it , that was the association my weird brain made. That said : I sampled this at my Tom Ford counter yesterday and WOW ! Magic. This opens with a silvery lavender swimming around some other notes producing a VERY complex opening that compels you to sniff your wrist as the world around you dissolves . Hypnotic , exotic & narcotic ! Probably the best lavender fragrance I have ever sampled in my life!

Such a compfort scent ! Warm , soft cloud of fluffy vanilla tonka . Dusty , fluffy cloud of soft realistic lavender. A step up from Caron , more wearable than taste of heaven and sweeter and more gourmand than jersey. To me it’s the best one out of the ones mentioned but I like them all. Big fan of lavender vanilla scents. I find them extremely compforting. This one is so easy to wear , it is not as strong as some other Tom Fords. Love all the notes , and thankful it isn’t to masculine. In love with the powdery drydown and airy sweetness with soft herbal feel. Almost feels like there is a hint of coconut in here. Yummy ! Bottle is amazing ! Great casual perfume , even a good bed scent. In love !

This is the best lavender fragrance i’ve ever smelled and performs so damn impressively on skin and develops so beautifully as well. Screw the Tom Ford haters, i’m beginning to think that the hate is all due to the prices. I’m sorry but some things are luxury items and have luxury prices to match their beauty and quality and exclusivity. Lavender Extreme doesn’t really give off any gender vibes, it just smells really damn expensive and stylish. Those who have it will cherish it. I can see this being worn year round by either sex, and the scent mimics the bottle color and sheen. Try it out for yourself, this is an easy love for me

This one! I have never liked the smell of lavender, but have fallen in love with this one. I think people are smelling a fake one since this one is definitely not an essential oil smell. It is one of those perfumes, you want to wear to make memories. I am not a fan of basic fresh, citrusy floral scents, so this one is my perfect "fresh" summer perfume- I have been literally wearing it the whole summer. Tonka bean and coumarin make something magical to the composition. The cloth I have been wearing it with even after months smell like lavender. Amazing! It is now one of my favorite must-have perfumes. Bring it back!!!! :(((

It opens with beautiful lavender, like pure lavender essential oil. That itself made me want to have it. Softness and warmth of Tonka bean joins within a few minutes. Lavender takes a step back but not too far. With time the fragrance looses its herbal vibe and turns into soft, cozy, slightly spicy goodness but it keeps its lavender calming effect. I don't see this being worn on special occasions, dates, it's not a black dress fragrance. It's more "take the day away" kind of scent. I can see myself spraying this all over after a stressful day or when I just want to lift my mood and relax. I love it!

I'm devastated that this is discontinued. I discovered it exactly the time Tom Ford stopped producing it and the price of a bottle shot up like crazy! This really smells like lavender. Other lavender scents either are too light on lavender or too sharp. This one is amazing, the vanilla rounds out the lavender perfectly, you almost don't even notice it. And the scent doesn't change much from first spray to end of the night. If this ever comes back in stock, or if I ever find a bottle that's not double the price, I'll definitely snag it!

August 2019: I would have to agree with many of the reviewers here, the price point of this LE and others in its class is outrageous! The concept of the fragrance and its opening are indeed incredible! However, it faded too quickly, and does not have longevity. I have several TF fragrances and love them including black orchid, velvet orchid, noir noir, tobacco vanille, soleil Blanc, Neroli. Was seriously considering this lavender to share with hubby. But it just does not have staying power for the price. Disappointed.

Ummmm does anyone feel like this smells exactly like Musc Ravageur by Frederic Malle?? Sure the Lavender dominantes but it’s more like a very dry, sweet lavender. I didn’t like Musc Ravageur back then but Lavender Extreme.... somehow get me. And that’s the initial spray. I should try it for a few times more. fyi: it’s NOTHING like Lush Twilight or Ariana R.E.M, at least on me since I own them all. Lush Twilight is def fresher and less sweet. I guess it’s geranium in Lavender Extreme, very subtle, but noticeable.

Picked up 50ML for 65% off at CCS. For what I paid for it, I love it...but not on ME. I think this would smell incredible on a man's skin. I LOVE lavender as a note but prefer the lavender in Mon Guerlain or YSL Libre better as they feel more feminine to me with more vanilla - they're more round where Lavender Extreme is more linear, more aromatic and zen-like. I understand how this is marketed as unisex but I definitely feel it leans more masculine.

I just received my sample - I like it! Soft, sweet Lavender! Nothing loud or exciting to be honest - but a lovely Lavender/Tonka/Vanilla bomb. It's got moderate to good sillage and projection - the fragrance is not at all evolutionary, it is rather linear. I love the way this plays with other fragrances as well - I used it with blood concept O the other day and Magic Happened! I think anything with suede/Leather would smell lovely with this! 9.5/10

Stunning, bold LAVENDER! at first waft. There is also a whisper soft note of violet that always keeps Lavender Extreme balanced and bold but never pretentious. 8 hours later I went to bed with my nose resting on my wrist. Lavender Extreme was still stunning but now also soft and comforting. I gave a sleepy smile of contentment and got a very good nights sleep. Definitely full bottle worthy. Grab it while you can.

Okay maybe some people are getting fakes because this does not smell like just lavender oil or some type of aromatherapy lavender stuff. To me it smells like 1/3 Russian tea cakes/Mexican wedding cakes and 2/3 lavender. It’s decadent, amazing. To me it leans more masculine. Excellent fragrance. If you like lavender it’s a no brainer. It’s not barbershop either. It’s herbaceous and slightly desert like.

Love from the first sniff. Comforting, soothing and cocooning scent. I tried it for the first time in the middle of the winter and since then I would say is a cold weather perfume. It leaves such a beautiful trail on a woolen sweater. In the opening you can definitely smell all the lavender but coming to the drydown tonka comes in front and makes it so smooth.

I just got a bottle of this .... to me, this is utterly heavenly. Sweet, soft, billowy, cotton candy lavender, lemon and rose. The tonka and coumarin are heavy and rich. This smells so decadent to me. I rate this a 10/10 and a Fragrantica score of 4.8. Not that anyone cares, but that is the highest score I have ever given a fragrance.

This is the type of fragrance you definitely need to try on your skin. Yes in the beginning its a burst of sharp lavender but after like 20-30 minutes on the skin it develops into a creamy vanilla (i can smell a little bit of coconut too) powdery heaven with just a hint of lavender. For me its a big like. Also its Very long lasting.

My wife owns this exceptional fragrance. Every time she puts it on, it fills each room and then the car when I take her to work - it projects such a wonderful and warm calming aroma. When I collect her then in the evening, the scent picks up where it left off and fills the car imeaditly again. This is an amazing Perfume.

Of course it’s Lavender there ! But in my nose, it’s very dense of Tonka/Vanilla and something dry feeling (violet,iris?). It’s remind me of Dior Homme Intense in the first 5 mins then dry down into powdery Lavender. Very smooth, refine and seductive. Not much outstanding, but unique enough for Tom Ford Private Blend ;)

Lavender Dragees- that’s what I would have named this. Beautifully pastel. It smells like candy coated almonds and lavender. Pressed powder creaminess. I don’t pick up Violet or rose but I’ve only worn this twice. It’s beautiful and now I have to save up for a full bottle once my 15ml lab sample runs out.

This one is amazing, but a better name would be Coumarin Extreme. Not that there’s no lavender, but the coumarin is the most dominant note. As it opens up, it smells exactly like a candle. I can’t stop smelling myself when I wear this. Definitely full bottle worthy.

This is a great scent, so relaxing. It is all about lavender, bright lavender, citrus lavender, vanilla lavender, creamy lavender, etc. I can see this being worn year round but it might be to much for Summer days. Glad I grabbed this before it disappeared.

Absolute best Lavender fragrance ever made. Bitter , calming Lavender with smooth, creamy tonka. So smooth , well blended and high quality. I don t know why they discountinued it. If you can get your hands on it please do. You won t be dissappointed.

Oh my. This smells like heaven to me. Even my teen daughters, who do not like fragrances, said it was really good. It seemed to stay close to skin after initial 15-20 min. Progection is very low. Longevity is 8 hours. I definitely love this beauty.

Fantastic lavender scent, this is sweet, creamy and smooth, you'll get hugged by wearing this, although the opening might not be the best part of it but once it starts settling down that's where the magic starts. Works anytime. Highly recommended.

beautiful and comforting, makes me feel kind of dizzy but in a good way, very relaxing. it’s unisex but leans pretty masculine imo, very realistic lavender scent. definitely worth tracking down despite how expensive it is now.

I agree, this is definitely one of the best lavender perfumes, and I am repurchasing it! It's gorgeous, smooth, beautiful. The lavender is blended so well! It's smooth and intense. Longevity is also impressive!

Smells like the new dove lavender body wash which smells amazing but this is the fragrance counterpart turns creamy then dry then herbal? It’s good stuff don’t think you will offend anybody.

Absolutely love this, too bad it's discontinued. To simplify, smells like rich and creamy lavender with a sugar cookie. A high end sugar cookie! lol. Amazing stuff!

alway makes me feel slightly bohemian and eccentric good sillage and always turns head - combine with a dash of tuscan leather for night time impact !

Although this one performance very weak, but I still love it, because I am addicted to lavender scent and its very expensive, yeah its Tom Ford

very good perfume, 7 hours of longevity and projection, compliments arrive when I wear it. a boy licked my neck, he wanted to eat me.

Absolutely stunning. Smells like sweet, rich lavender. If youre from the middle east then you know that it smells like Mahalabi.

This truly reminds me of one of those deodorant cakes that you put in a urinal. Cheap-smelling and harsh.

I love it. It's a sweet, vanilla-like lavender. Not balsamic in my opinion. I'd say try before you buy.
