Lys Fume

I’ve been looking for a masculine floral for a long time now and it seems that this new collection might be the answer. It is very hard to find a floral that is not overwhelmingly feminine, from one end to the other. This one is a very good lily that starts with a realistic rendition of the pleasant aspect of the flower and then hides the rather difficult side in an interesting light smokiness. Lilies, like many white flowers, have a pleasant, clean, crisp first smell, but if you stick your nose in it, the next phase is quite indolic, bitter organic, a bit dirty. That phase is quite unpleasant and ruins the encounter with the flower. But here that second phase is skillfully covered up with fresh smoke which hides that bitterness and cleanses it. So far so good – clean floral, nice turn with the smoke, all acceptably masculine. The final stage is quite different, some spicy vanilla that comes across as a bit sweet, although with a hint of rum. This stage is quite long lasting and more feminine, less unisex than the rest, but not really that original and altogether doesn’t have much to do with the top and middle notes. Worth noting that it developed beautifully on my hand, while it really didn’t work on the card. Quite long lasting, unusually so in the top and middle notes, and with good projection, too.

I bought 3 TF recently, and quite honestly, I am in love. They are quite literally haunting and almost take you back in time. I can just say for now that they are most beautiful. TF are not my favorites, they have not knocked over by my beloved Coquin, Asian Brulant and Anglique Noir so far. However, Tom Ford has a lovely lovely line. I'm anxious for his new Velvet Orchid coming this summer! This fragrance reminds of of the complexity and simplicity of the Japanese warrior way. Bushido. The floral evokes the simple pouring the ritual cup of tea, the spice evokes the drawing of the the sword in battle. As you watch the delicate blossoms fall from the tree, Lys Fume would be the "perfect" smell to transition. If you know what that means. There is perfection in the blossom leaving the tree and before hitting the ground. This is how I describe and feel of Lys Fume. It's not over floral on me, so that delicacy of floral and spice mix the beauty of life with the falling of the blossom together. One word "perfect". Lys Fume is a powerful spiritual fragrance.

Lys fume fun and casual in my opinion. My entire family , including myself , thinks this fragarance smells like Hubba Bubba bubblegum. Ok maybe better , yes but it reminds us all of Hubba Bubba all the way :) I have nothing else to say about it , its nice, I own it , its fun , sweet and pretty, but its Bubblegum, juicy and PINK with a dash of nutmeg! Update, ok so I do have more to say about this one. I have been wearing it for days , and as everyone knows , it takes days to get to know a scent well. So besides the bubble gum note which some people in other reviews on other sites also have called PLASTICY note or PLASTC INK note and popcorn spiced with nutmeg and turmeric ,,, I also have read that someone mentioned bubble gum . Remember those little sweet spicy heart shaped candies? They basically taste like plastic and bubblegum and some spice , yeah well that's what Lys Fume smells like to me. Pretty different. Not your usual mainstream scent, not even a common niche scent , if there is such a thing ;)

What a beauty. I like Lys Fume much better than TF's Shanghai Lily. This lily is more pronounced and does not hide behind spices at all. I think ylang ylang is such a wonderful compliment to lily, adding a velvet touch and richness and carefully measured so as to not overpower the lily. The rum note is very subtle, more like the spiced aftertaste of rum with hardly a hint of booze, smooth and sultry. The labdanum adds a little sweet musky amber and some good dimension. This is not animalic like Penhaligon's Lily & Spice, nor is it laden with pollen like Lush Death & Decay, just bushels of big white blooms, pure and full. No 'fume.' There's not too much vanilla here, barely sweet. A dash of barely discernible artemisia keeps Lys Fume fresh. Styrax adds a little smooth body and a soft mineral facet. Overall, this is a great lily perfume that ranks high on my love list.

+ Upscale refined bubblegum. One of these days my jaw will come up from the floor and I'll write a good review. I'm floored every time I spray this fragrance. The opening is interesting and a shock. It's boozy, sweet and peppery. I smell carnation in here! The drydown reminds me of L'Artisan Oeillet Sauvage but Lys Fume blended in a way that elevates the fragrance above anything i've come across. Lys Fume is really beautiful! I love it. It smells a little like Champaca Absolute TF too! I totally get the Juicy Fruit gum & Pepper association mentioned below. Edit - On subsequent wearings I'm getting mature lily due to the combination of notes, especially a huge dose of ylang. Just stunning! Edit: Feb 2020. This perfume is awesome in summer! It's even more beautiful after I've sweat in it a bit. ;) Edit: bought a bottle in May 2020!

I want to smell like this all the time. I have a bottle that I don't want to run out of though. I thought it would have the TF signature vibe, the resinous, smokey spicy vibe. Thought it would be something that is night-time, too much. But, to my pleasant surprise, it isn't very Tom Ford-esque. It's very friendly, suitable for everyday wear, day or night. To my novice nose, It's mainly a photorealistic lily, with spice. The spices blast at first then take a seat back, the lily is there all the way through to the end. I get that there are many other components at first, however, it's like a mosaic artwork where, if you look closely you would get all different bits and pieces, but looking from afar, they all make one shape, the lily. I love it. Someone here said it is spiritual, I feel the same way. It uplifts my mood big time.

Exquisite. I mostly get lily and ylang in that order. The other notes simply provide a more earthy and woody base that elevates the composition and adds contrast and dimension to the fragrance. It seems to grow in intensity the longer it is on your skin, peaking several hours after application, then slowly winding it's way through the dry down. Donna Karan Gold is very similar to Lys Fume, though not quite as smooth. Still, Gold can be had for a very reasonable price, which isn't the case with Lys Fume. I want to compare them side by side in order to see if there is enough of a difference to justify purchasing a full bottle. To be honest, I would really love to have a FB anyway. Right now I have a .33 oz spray from a decant service. In the end it will likely come down to whether I want to be extravagant or sensible.

Tom Ford’s Lys Fume is just one of those fragrances that spoke straight to my heart! I would best describe this scent as a “bubblegum lily” because of how sweet this lily smells blended with the other notes. Lys Fume opens with nutmeg and turmeric that gives away to a powdery sweet ylang-ylang and pure white lilies with a vanilla base. I do not think that this is a “traditional” fragrance and it does not cater to mass market appeal, which is great! I love lily and ylang-ylang so I was drawn to this fragrance, but it is the first time I have encountered turmeric and I’m loving it. Lately I have really liked unique scents that smell like different places or different eras that conjure up memories and bring about nostalgia and I think Lys Fume does just that! I absolutely love it!

OMG I love this. I used to know a French guy at work called Julien. He gave up smoking roll-ups for a pipe (ceci n'est pas une pipe..). He was amazingly eccentric with dark wavy hair, and his pipe smoke was the most gorgeous smell in the world. Rich dark fruity deep, anyway...I digress but stay with me on this one. When, in the fullness of time, which should be a very long while, Julien merges with the infinite.. this is the smell of his wake. All his friends shall toke on his glorious pipe in a room filled with lilies. Here I am and the cup is empty. How will I stop myself buying this .. Not a fan of the Ford until now, you hath redeemed thyself Thomas. This and Shanghai Lily. I can only thank Denoula for her giveaway, without which I would never know the treasure.

The top of LYS FUME is jarring. The nose tickles with the pink pepper, nutmeg and turmeric powders as the throat tightens with the acidic bergamot. This sensation lingers for awhile until suddenly, almost without transition, it is replaced by a creamy, smooth rum, bitter banana and lily olfaction. The middle notes, like the tops notes, last for awhile before settling into its glorious heart: a woody and balmy vanilla with hints of leather. Truly unique and utterly beautiful, this perfume lasts an entire day and the sillage is a comforting, close to the skin, scent for me. A glorious perfume that is very wearable and, I consider to be, "anytime" appropriate.

Thanks to a generous fragrantican I got to sample this, well what a rollercoaster! Initial reaction- I was unsure whether I liked it or not. Very different to anything i own or have tried but for the rest of it's wearing I couldn't stop sniffing my arm. With my chemistry the florals didn't really open up, I got the bananary ylang, the spices and as it developed the rum was most potent followed by oak. Overall I got quite a herbal/medicinal vibe but it was so addictive!! I would love to smell this on my other half, he doesn't do aftershave sadly, so if I was to purchase- it would be something I definitely would indulge in as a guilty pleasure by myself!

LYS FUME is a dense and strong lily fragrance, boozy and balmy, but still very close to the natural lilies scent. I would say that it is not a portrait of a lilies bouquet, it is rather its photograph. LYS FUME, as this royal flower itself, is very intoxicating and may even cause headaches. Imagine a very big bunch of white lilies in their full beauty, their scent is rich to the point of a slight poisonousness. You should really love this special flower to be able to wear LYS FUME. Overall an amazing fragrance + top quality, gorgeous sillage and good lasting power.

The camphorous ylang steals the show here. So yummy, with a cooling almost icy element (similar to the one I get from Psychedelic Love). The lily is actually my least favorite part, it opens with kind of an anemic sweetness thats somehow melancholy? It slowly fades until it's just a subtle sweetness in the background, enhancing the overall "chill". Lovely, at least sample it while you still can, especially if you love ylang.

I hesitated and lost. I saw a bottle for sale at a reasonable price and missed out on the chance to purchase it. I would really like to own a full bottle. If anyone is interested in swapping/selling, or a combo of both, please let me know. I have two travel size decants, and there is no way they will last, as this has become one of my favorite perfumes and I need to have it in my life!!

Almoust chill beginning, so interesting! Gourmand but not in sweet way, as having spicy meal with curry. Turmeric and peppars, so luscious and inviting, beautiful lily and yang-yang. Drydown in amazing, oriental but in a soft way. Lys Fume isn't too peppary, not too turmeric, it's like having pashminaskarf on Your shoulder in the late evening. So lovely! Feminine fragrance.

Lovely lovely lovely - I think this is divine. Beautiful glorious white flowers and gentle spices, with wonderful woods and leather and sweetness. Divine and delicious. It lasts beautifully all day, and I get many many compliments. Gorgeous.

THIS is divine! Already one of my favourite Private Blends, Lys Fume is so lush, so warm and sweet; so intoxicating. It's just beautiful, I don't know what else to say! I'm buying a 250ml bottle as soon as I have the money!

Am I the only one smelling jasmine in it?? I'm lucky to own this beauty. Very sophisticated, very floral and feminine, I really can't see a masculine guy wearing it.

My nose can’t get past the anise and bubblegum on my skin. Very unexpected as the sample smells much different in the vial.

Pure, kick-ass lily. The most true I have experienced in a fragrance. Beautiful, but also reminds me of a funeral palour.

First impressions- most beautiful perfume!

I seem to be working my way through my samples of discontinued Tom Ford scents lately (and berating myself for taking so long to sit down and really experience them)... If you're looking for a waxy, pollen-rich lily, this might be it. (There is, of course, a little more to it than that.) I feel like this is a composition that chooses to focus mostly on white lilies, but ylang ylang and a distant puff of cold incense are bit players. The scent stays largely true to itself as it develops, never straying too far from its roots (or, rather, its bulbs, in the case of lilies). Longevity was average, and projection was minimal on my skin (however, my sample was a dabber and not a spray vial, so that may have affected the results). This feels like a scent that is best-suited to spring and autumn temperatures. It might turn a bit cloying in the heat of summer, but that's only a guess. As comparisons and associations go, well... if Demeter's Funeral Home represents the chilling, aberrant darkness of The X-Files' Donnie Pfaster to me, then Lys Fume is what I imagine his utterly normal older sisters would smell like. They're seated in church during an Easter service, countless lilies perfuming the air, as a wisp of incense smoke floats past them in the wake of the censer. The flowers are still in their prime -- fresh and unblemished. Formality, nature, and tradition mingle in the same space here.

Don’t hate me for this description because I actually love this scent. Lys Fume smells like sweet poison or toxic flowers. I completely agree with SuzanneS saying this smells like a sophisticated villainess. It’s sweet but deep. It’s kind of powdery and very floral. It has that powdery smokiness that I find in a lot of Amouage fragrances. The ylang ylang is exactly the way I like it. It smells like the essential oil and not that stuff in MM Ylang in Gold. I love the bubble gum opening. It’s playful but not childish. Impish, maybe? I think the rum could be what’s making me think of poison. This doesn’t smell like stargazer lilies but it has that overly ripe thick petals smell. For me this is the bad girl scent I was looking for. I didn’t feel a connection with TF Black Orchid or Dior Addict. I guess it comes across as darkness with a hint of flirt. I imagine a villainess laughing aka cackling. Yes she may be naughty, but she is truly enjoying herself. Why don’t you join in on the fun? Think Eartha Kitt singing song I Want to be Evil.

I won't get into a long saga about this one, as many already have before me. On my skin, this opens as an ambiguous floral musk. There are a lot of notes listed, but I don't pick them up individually. When it settles down, the lily note moves forward. As someone who used to buy tiger lilies at the supermarket and never could bring myself to toss them out, I can confirm that reviews mentioning end stage oriental lilies are accurate. I believe the other notes actually create this particular moment. The oak and booze notes are faintly detectable at the last of dry down. This is well blended and interesting. I see a bright orange tiger lily sitting on an antique wooden table. Stamens dropping, sunlight filtered in through a lace curtain. Something dark, elegant, and mysterious.

This starts like a quite green, transparent lily, soon turning more aquatic and sultry like violet reminiscent of anise or licorice, and more waxy. I think the nutmeg note is kind of included in the lily, like a soft cinnamon note, and is the most apparent facet of the flower here. It contributes with a soft gingerbread scent together with the medicinal rum and ylang in the dry down. Quite sensual and heady, and all in all, leaning herbal/spicy gourmand more than a lily-focused scent. Complex with many sides to explore, and not boring in one bit.

The opening of this is intense and almost sickening. But the dry down is soft and subtly sweet. It's got an aged feeling.. I think a few people have mentioned mildew or mold which I sort of get, but I wouldn't say in a rancid way. To me it's almost more like a soft dampness within a crypt full of old leather-bound books and decaying lilies. I honestly think it's what the fragrance Nosferatu wanted to be. Not for everyone but definitely good for the right occasion.

At first, it is oriental lily. Ylang-ylang is noticeable a bit later. Spicy notes always smell very strongly on my skin and this time it hasn't been any different. It's warm floral spicy scent, pleasant, but you have to love orient to love it.

True white lily scent. Like soliflore. Love it! The best lily scent ever.

On skin it opened with a blast of lily mixed with plastic-like ylang ylang. At first I thought the lily might be too overwhelming but it turned out that ylang ylang was the problem for me as usual. Didn’t get any rum, unfortunately. This sure attracted attention with its strong silage. On clothing it started off with a peppery orange rum scent. Then lily stepped in. Ylang ylang was well blended here. Vanilla came in afterwards and it was a nice dry down. Perhaps I said that too soon because the true dry down was rather leathery and lean animalic. Weird there because the on skin dry down was a slightly sourish vanilla scent. The leathery dry down lasted over ten hrs, as skin scent. All in all it sure behaved much better on clothing. Very likable there. Certainly reminded me of Lys Mediterranee, if only slightly. Except for that vibe, they are totally different of course. Each beautiful in its own way.

A love/hate that landed at, well, not love. The amazing aspects of this fragrance are: what I'd call ambergris, which might be what the marketers are calling turmeric + bay rum + artemisia; the full-bodied ylang, opening wintergreen and growing animalic; and the on-again off-again black tea, one of my favorite things to smell in any context. The unbearable aspects of this fragrance are: the aggressive, ultrasynthetic lily/industrial cleaner note. It goes in and out of focus, but ruins the whole show.

The opening notes give an immediate cleaning product effect that makes you want to recoil. Too many disjointed spices and florals combining with the off-gassing heat of alcohol was a WTF moment for sure. Give it a few minutes and it settles in to what is a simple sweet white floral that smells like bubblegum on a good, clean, light base of vanilla and woods. If there is fume (smoke) here, I can't find it. Nothing new to report here.

I was so looking forward to trying Lys. I had just tried Tom Ford Neroli Portofino and fell in love. Lys, to me at first, is disarming. A little sweet spicy note to start. Then the White Lily and Labdanum started overtaking me and never let up. Sorry to say this one was way too sweet and heady for me.

From its vial a collision of sorts, sweet lily, something sour, something off, something ashy something dirty. On, it’s a dull and rather muddled lily. Pas de fume. Mais, un peu de savon. Forgettable. Yet, somehow, six hours later a light pleasant sweetness remains. 4.0/10.

You know those Valentine's Day heart candy you get with phrases like "Be Mine!" ..... that what this smells like. And some white floral but mainly those awful Valentine heart candies. I am sure there is a market for that smell but it certainly isn't for me.

The only scent I get from this perfume on my skin is the yellow floral, which is translating as pure bubblegum. I had hoped to get more out of it. It is very linear and sweet. Not for me.

The name Lys Fume is only half correct. The lily is there, the smoke is not. No complaint, though. This is a handsome and well composed floriental. Lily is the centerpiece but other elements that fly in and out of this perfume include other flowers, fruit, plastic, spices, India ink and resins. A soliflor this ain’t. It’s been compared to Donna Karen's Gold, and the comparison is appropriate. Gold is a lily floral amber that alternatingly purrs and growls. The smoky, ambery base notes start to rumble up through the topnotes almost immediately after you spray it on. Lys Fume is less overtly louche than Gold, but is sweeter in both scent and personality. In Gold, Amber is the accompanying score to the flower, but it can feel like a Phantom of the Opera theater organ taking over the room. This is how Gold plays with contrasts (growl) as well as the common threads (purr) between the lily and the amber. Lys Fume has amber, but it doesn’t ride it like a parade float as Gold does. Amber serves the end goal of the composition, it doesn’t take over. It joins the other elements to give a rich, plastic-smelling feel that holds the balance of the sweetness and the spiciness just so. The base is spiced but not spicy. Lys Fume unfolds at a leisurely pace, and the extended heart notes are similar in character to the plastic floral notes of Vierges et Toreros. The plastic sheen in Vierges suggests shrink-wrapping. Lys Fume’s plastic smells like India ink and seems to be a fortunate side effect of the wonderfully 'off' note that form the scent of ylang ylang. The composition is balanced, and notes like plastic and ink don't stand out anymore than do spices and florals. Is this plastic note a Maisondieu family secret? Antoine employed it to striking effect in Vierges et Toreros. Here, perfumer Shyamala Maisondieu integrates the plastic note in such a way that it could be the base note for a whole new generation of floral Oriental perfumes. Delicate, but not at all sheer. Strong, but effortless. Often in perfumery, 'distinctive' is code for odd and undesirable. Lys Fume is distinctive in that it is striking and memorable. It has just the sort of beauty that I look for in a perfume. It draws you in not merely because it's pretty, but because it has some thought to it and is equally interesting and beautiful. The inky plastic keeps the Lily note aloft. Sillage is low, endurance is good. But Lys Fume gets its highest marks for integrity and coherence of overall shape from top to bottom. from scenthurdle

Some niche perfumes are weak, seemingly dilute, with poor longevity and laughable claims to eau de parfum strength. Not so with the house of Tom Ford! There is some real dependability when it comes to the strength of the perfumes of this house. (Do you want a neroli perfume to last forever or until your next bath? Tom Ford is your man: NEROLI PORTOFINO). Another virtue of this house's private collection is the truth in naming everywhere on display. LYS FUME offers a veritable bomb of lily up front and center. Incredibly potent with huge sillage and a funereal concentration of the dark billowy flower, this creation is going to distinguish the lily lovers from those who are mere friends. Lily foes need not apply, obviously... The lily in LYS FUME is anchored in a rich styrax-labdanum base which eventually, in the far drydown, smells really beautiful. By then, the lily bomb has been defused and only the lingering smokiness of the extinguished wick remains behind as a floral tinge. The opening is a bit hard to take, I do hereby aver. I was literally waiting for a bit of air to break through the hundred thousand lily petals. I won't say that it's a scrubber, but this perfume needs to be very sparingly applied to avoid suffocation of self and others. Lily is a distinctive floral scent and obviously not as popular as rose, iris, violet, narcissus, tuberose, geranium, the list goes on and on. There are not that many big lily perfumes, which probably means that it is an acquired taste, and it is true that other lily perfumes have sometimes seemed overwhelming to me. Donna Karan GOLD is another example which must be very sparingly applied. The search is over for those looking for a concentrated lily olfactory experience. The search for such a perfume ends here: LYS FUME.

Initially the lily in Lys Fume is of the extremely overbearing, moldy, yet sugary variety. I do enjoy Lily; I really enjoy it in real life, but when it’s used in a perfume where its most overblown qualities are pushed to the limit, even I approach it with some dread. The way some of the other notes in this perfume are utilized it seems they actually reinforce some of these qualities- the ylang and the rum for instance definitely add to the syrupy feel. Anyway, this overly dense, syrupy humidity gives the first couple hours of this perfume a clammy kind of turgid feeling. It lacks some of the brilliance of other perfumes in this line- the green polleny freshness of Jonquille de Nuit or the misty melancholic shadows of Ombre de Hyacinth. It feels like a literal wet blanket lying on your skin. But I will say, as it ages on skin the lily in Lys Fume mellows quite a bit and the sugar gets taken down a few notches. There’s room for some air to come in and blow dry the sticky corners, and it now feels only moist as compared to the earlier sopping moldiness. I would compare this stage of the perfume to a lily that’s been dried out then dipped in hardened sugar to make a decoration for a cake. You can still tell what it is, it retains its essential lilyness, but it’s a sedate version of its kind. This continues on as the fragrance slowly tapers away on skin until it is gone at the 8 hour mark. So, although I am a little repulsed (and fascinated) by the open stages, I rate this as a mild like overall. It’s definitely not in the same league as other genius perfumes in this line, and I wouldn’t pay eBay scalper prices to own it.

Lys Fume has a long list of notes, but when I spotted the tester bottles of Tom Ford's new collection Jardin Noir, I had not read anything about it, and had no idea what to expect. What I noted first was that Lys Fume is, well, not noir; it is not dark at all and, instead, it evokes the white, sensual texture of a perfect lily blossom. I was strolling along the streets of a small European town a few summers ago, when I felt an almost intoxicating and, at the same time, compelling aroma. There was a flower shop nearby, and the sidewalk in front of it was covered with colorful blossoms. The overpowering scent came from a large white flower, and when the salesperson saw me walk tentatively in its direction, she mentioned it was "lilium." Lys Fume captures the essense of a true lily almost too well. I bought a single stem of the aromatic flower that summer day, but its scent filled up the whole apartment. This is how I feel about Lys Fume as well. It draws me, but it is also a bit too big as a floral fragrance for me, especially in the beginning. I can imagine that people who truly love lilies and florals will appreciate its masterful design. Tom Ford has done other florals beautifully, and the soft, warm base is not unlike its cousin Champaca Absolute.

My search for the ultimate lily scent is over. Wow, this is such a great lily scent. If you're like me and uncomfortable with the jarring "sea" note in Lys Mediterranean, this might just be your thing. Lys Fume is a sophisticated floral scent that puts lily up front and center. The initial blast is such a huge photorealistic lily bomb it feels like you're burying your face in a thousand lily petals. It's strong and it radiates. Slowly, other notes emerge. On me, the rum, the ylang ylang and the artemisia are pretty clear. In fact, I think it's the artemisia that keeps this whole thing cool and chic. There's a green vibe to it that helps counters the heat from the nutmeg, the pepper and the sweetness of the Tom Ford familiar vanilla base. All florals, especially white florals, are usually too much for my head, but I can chill with this. Lys Fume is massive and unabashed, but it doesn't hurt my head like many white florals do. It's not a soliflore but I think it does an extremely good job at representing the feel of a lily flower - a little sorrowful, a little ethereal, but resilient and proud. My only complaint is that after about an hour, it fades into more of a labdanum scent.

My husband, who has very different taste in perfume than I, smelled this after about 4 hours on my wrist and said, ""Wow! That smells amazing- and VERY EXPENSIVE!" it seems we agree on something. However, I do believe this perfume is a bit of a one-trick pony: it wallops you over the head with lilies, lilies and more lilies... and not much else. Maybe a tiny bit of carnation in there, trying to pick up the spice, with a ghost of vanilla at the end, trying to fight for it's life. It's very pretty, it's very pure in the sense that it's an honest scent- it is not trying to be anything other than huge, white, stinking lilies- the kind you'd imagine you'd smell outside in somebody's garden at night during a party while you and your spouse are "getting some air" so nobody hears you in the middle of an argument... and then you notice a big ugly spider on one of the lily petals. There *is* something kind of dark to this fragrance, and I can't quite put my finger on what it is, but it doesn't smell entirely joyful to me. Angry lilies. With spiders. That's about all I've got.

I feel I need to resist the peer pressure that comes from everyone here perceiving this as a lilly and point out that this is mainly about Ylang. A very big Ylang indeed with all the sunscreen related notes not present in the lilly flower in actuality. Not a bad thing per se, just not what the title claims. Perhaps the bravest floral from the four, purple tagged additions in the private line, certainly the most voluptuous and voluminous. Fumee? Not really in my opinion. I can hardly detect any of the top notes listed here, all I get is a huge Ylang that swallows you whole and then deposits you on a balmy bed. Very enjoyable in my opinion but still not worth the asking price (rest assured my piggy bank). I would pick Aqua Allegoria Lys Soleia over this in a heartbeat as a more economical and also rounder ylang-lilly-sunscreen perfume.

Tom Ford - Lys Fume Here we go with an amazing lily scent! For those who likes lily, it is a good option. I know it is pricey, but let's ride it... The opening here comes with a pink pepper accord, less spicy but a little bit sweet overall. I get some earthy notes here too. Then, we can feel immediately the Lily and Ylang combo, bringing some creamy floral charming... With something alcoholic among them. So nice! During its evolution, a smoky labdanum appears bringing some "masculin" accent to it... This is the best part, where we can get some contrast between "bright" and "dark" On dry, we can get vanilla and dry woody accord too. So nice... I do not know which Lily scent is best for me: Lys Fume x PG Louanges Profanes Both are "masculine" like scents for those who wants something floral and sensual. :) Thanks!

I just got a 15ml bottle factory sample labeled “Lys Malice” and it states it’s from Tom Ford’s “Twisted Florals” collection. Based on some research, it’s supposed to be Lys Fume, and the general consensus I’ve found is that it was originally named Lys Malice, and the name got changed to Lys Fume when it was officially released. Can anyone tell me more information about these little 15ml factory samples? They have black labels and as stated, they say “Tom Ford Twisted Florals Lys Malice”. There’s also a few other in the 15ml bottles that are also a part of the Twisted Florals collection. To me it seems like they all just got renamed, but I’d love to know more!

I have to concur with the reviewer below me that there is a lot of ylang-ylang going on in Lys Fume. I do get some lily, but at least on my skin ylang-ylang is the star. Lys Fume is boozy, slightly indolic and quite sweet. Not as sweet as Champaca Absolute though. I think this is because the turmeric is quite prominent and Lys Fume's earthier, more bitter notes (labdanum, artemisia) along with the indole keep it from smelling completely candied. Fans of Samsara, Lush's Cocktail and other ylang bombs will enjoy this. It features all the lush, creamy, banana-like qualities of ylang without completing neutering it by removing any hint of indole.

The first spray is bubble gummy white/ yellow floral very creamy yummy Then comes sweet vannila and even more ylang and lily In dry down you can feel (very close to skin) slight smokyness but only when you put your nose on skin. It is heavy so definitely not be wearing when headache or hot says It can be beautiful in spring and early summer! Very famine and happy elegant modern If you like lys41 from le labo or Lys Mediterranean from Frederic Malle you will like it Or Terracotta from Guerlain Because i have Lys41 and Terracotta I won’t propably buy whole bottle and will enjoy my 5 ml decant

This is it. The perfect year-round TF scent with powerhouse longevity and sillage. At first spray, it smells like someone put pepper in my Juicy Fruit gum. It's intoxicating even thought it seems weird. The dry-down is a fleshy, meaty lily that is very dramatic, yet sophisticated. I imagine this is a great fragrance for someone who appreciates the scent of carnations but has a difficult time wearing in a perfume. All the supporting notes are so perfectly blended, it makes me a bit angry that this is not in production. PLEASE BRING THIS BACK!!!

I was expecting something completely different. I was lucky enough to receive a sample (along with some other TFPBs- I can't wait to own a bottle!). For whatever reason, this particular fragrance reacts very differently with my skin and body chemistry. Expecting lily and spice and smoke, I instead get nothing but anise. SCREAMS anise, actually. So much so that my boyfriend told me I smelled like licorice. Oh well, I guess this just makes the process of elimination easier.

Lys fume “ smoked Lilly”, a thick Lilly like clean creamy companied with rum and turmeric slightly woody and sweet, it’s as the name says a smoked Lilly gives you the feel that it touched “or maybe slightly stewed is the right word” by smoke, I have the 2012 batch, I didn’t think that turmeric could be employed nicely in a fragrance till I smelled this one. imo the slight boozy spiceness and smoked lilly pulled it out from territory of being feminin to unisex.
