Myhhre Mystere is a very sweet myrrh and incense fragrance that, on its own, is churchy and evocative of a different time. The incense and myrrh in this are biblical in their feel. It has this vibe of a palace in the Levant from hundreds or thousands of years ago, making you imagine mysterious wise men journeying under stars bearing gifts. Lovely though these images are, you sort of wonder whether they are relevant in the context of a modern perfume collection. I smelt this one and bought it in part because of the feel of it. It has this wonderful texture. The scent is evocative but I bought it because it is actually wearable. Not every day for sure, but I do like heavier, richer scents with a presence to them and on this basis this does have an earned place in my collection. I guess this is the sort of fragrance you buy that tells you aren't a casual enthusiast but have become a true collector. What I like about this one is that the incense and the myrrh meld together to form something that isnt one or the other but both, and the dusty corners and sharp edges are smoothed and soothed so beautifully by the musk in this. Honestly this is one of the best uses of musk you'll ever see in a fragrance that doesnt have musk as a central accord. It really is superb. Try it if you don't believe me. Even better is the tinge on the periphery that takes you a while to figure out. I love perfumery that makes you think and really work hard on understanding what you are smelling. There is something stringent and slightly alcoholic... perhaps medicinal maybe in this in the edges, stopping this from going too sweet. What could it be? In the end, Fragrantica figured it out for me - there is absinthe in this! Absolutely amazing. I dont get synthetic vibes from this at all. It feels as if it is really, genuinely made of myhhre and incense oils with some absinthe poured in. People criticise Tom Ford for a "lack of originality" and "laziness" and "making boring fragrances" - clearly people who think this have not experienced the absinthe and musk accords in this wonderful fragrance. I am a card-carrying Ebene Fume fan and enjoy that smoky, dark woody experience a great deal. Many have compared that and Myrrhe Mystere and I can see why. The overall feel is quite similar even if the accords are quite different. Both are quite heavy studies on a fairly specific, quite dark theme. The smoke, Palo Santo and the resinous textures against the woods in EF are held in place by the leather and incense accords that it shares with Myrrhe Mystere and it is this common ground where the two fragrances work together. I bought Myrrhe Mystere in part to layer with Ebene Fume as I find the two fragrances work magically together. You put down the Ebene Fume layer and then put the Myrrhe Mystere over the top, topping up as needed throughout the day. This sidesteps the longevity issues I have found with the otherwise superb Ebene Fume and stops the smoke being too dominant to wear during daytime or work. Living in the Middle East makes you think of bukhoor, or resins and of exotic spices and impossibly rich fragrances and this layering combination evokes all these things. It seems a marriage of its surroundings but not one born here, if that makes sense. As it is, what you are left with is a formal, quite serious, smoky, sweet and very refined fragrance that is as much texture as scent. It is just a little bit funky, just a bit unconventional. The sort of scent you wear for yourself and just hope others enjoy it as much as you do. The trick is not caring if they do or don't. Can you wear Myrrhe Mystere on its own? Sure. I do, quite regularly. But it is, for me, a wonderful layering fragrance that has this magical, perhaps mystical ability to deepen and sweeten other fragrances. I tried it over Maison Origine 01er Gold Extrait the other day and the beautiful idea that it was gold, frankincense and myrrh in one incredibly rich, Middle Eastern style experience was not lost on me. I'd definitely recommend that combination. On its own, Myhhre Mystere is a moderate performer but a superlative skin scent for 10+ hours. I get decent sillage off it for 5-6 hours but it lasts longer over the top of another perfume and as mentioned, the skin scent effect here is truly beguiling. I honestly think Tom Ford designed this from the outset to be at its best as a skin scent as it is so lovely in the drydown as the spicy feel and the absinthe in the corners really comes into its own. It is one of those smells that is immediately appealing on the tester strip but gets better and better the longer you wear it for. It isnt sexy or erotic but it is sensual. I quite like this. I want to address the Myrrhe Mystere/Ebene Fume similarity head on: I hated ebene fume - that scent went armpit on me fast. While on initial spray the two smell nearly identical to me, Myrrhe Mystere chills out and mellows into something quite a bit sweeter than Ebene Fume does. The dry downs really aren't even all that different - it's just that nagging b.o. smell from Ebene that I do not get with Myrrhe. I'm a girl and I imagine that plays a part in this preference... but I wouldn't want to smell Ebene on a dude either. (Well, the first 5 minutes are heaven... I love palo santo, but the dry down is awful.) I also have Black Laquer. Black and Myrrhe are quite similar. I prefer Black Laquer because I really REALLY love that vinyl note. It's just interesting. Remove that note and I think it's identical to Myrrhe. Before Myrrhe dropped prices on the 1.7oz bottle from $405 to $300, I would never have considered getting a bottle since I do have Black Laquer. When the price dropped, and I had a 20% off code to pick up a bottle of MM, I did. It is ever so slightly more resinous if I'm comparing them side by side, and because it lacks the vinyl note, it's less "weird" - also less interesting. Yadda yadda... tl;dr: Myrrhe Mystere is a chilled out Ebene Fume in that the dry down is less "dirty" Black Laquer is more similar to Myrrhe because it also has a cleaner dry down, but the vinyl note is quite prominent so the two are distinct. (However subtly they are distinct, they are distinct.)

Was gifted the official 2ml sample with recent purchase, wasn't even aware of this TF release. Immediately I was wrapped up in the ambery myrrh goodness of this delicious concoction!! This scent rang a bell in my memory- what is that, it reminds me of something I have loved but dont have. AHA - amber absolute! The small decant I had received many years ago, all dried up and gone. But myrrhe mystere has risen up from the TF discography of recent flops and misses - at least im my opinion. Myrrhe mystere immediately catapulted itself to the top of my collection and I sought for a bottle to treasure. This blend is everything I have wanted in a fragrance- smokey, resinous, sweet (but not overly so), and just decadent. I also really love how this sits close to skin, not overwhelming the wearer or others around them. This reminds me of home, cozy and warm. Its like a freshly baked cookie and a hug with a delicious cup of coffee with cream and sugar. This makes me want to cuddle up and just relax in pure bliss. Thank you for this release, it is VERY warmly welcomed in my small but growing collection. Tom Ford does it again, I cant get enough!! Edit: I love this stuff 50ml decant was procured and been my scent of choice this fall/winter. Its definitely a close to skin scent but thats what makes me love it. This is one that I always have to smell when I see the bottle!!

So here’s the thing. There’s def similarities between MM and EF; the main being the amber notes and slightly woody vibe, but I feel that’s really where it stops. After several hours (with all my TF frags I own, I’ve had great success with silage and longevity. MM did not disappoint as it wore just as long, if not longer than EF, and feel that you notice the slight similarity at the beginning, when first sprayed). Afterwards, MM shifts into a sweeter more feminine vanilla cinnamon spice frag. Being a vanilla girl, I enjoyed the vanilla note, as it was a richer boozier, but sweet vanilla, the kind I had hoped vanilla sex was going to be (i still want VS, but its nothing like the vanilla thats used in MM). To be clear, it's not a vanilla scent, but it does bring a warmth with spices which makes it stand out from its beloved cousin, EF. Based on the overall sweetness, in contrast to EF, I think MM may be better suited for a girl, but like most of Tom Ford fragrances, its unisex so men that seek a sweeter scent might prefer this over EF if they had to decide between the two. If MM was released when EF did or vice versa, and I could only choose one of the two, I'd go for MM. Both are great and would fall in the same family, but they are different enough to notice they have their own identities. Def FB worthy for me, especially now that it's getting colder out.

This is a gorgeous take on myrrh. Sits a little closer to the skin but lasts a long time. To the ones who got a fake bottle on eBay, that’s why it lasts 5 mins... TF does a great job with east meets west incense with this composition, smells very high end and luxury as it should. I would not pay full retail, but it’s 100% worth the discount price I got it for from Jomashop. This is my 5th private blend addition from TF, they are such good fragrances. If you are blind buying this, please do not think it will smell anything like people are putting above, I have ebene fume and amber absolute and this smells nothing even close. This is much more of an incense fragrance compared to ebene fumes sandalwood base, and amber absolute? Wtf, I don’t think people remember what it smells like if they are voting that... amazing scent so happy I got a full bottle, just be careful where you purchase it bc there are a TON of 1:1 fakes of Tom Ford who even fake the batch codes. Some are easy to identify and some are not. The fakes that cost $100 are very very hard to tell the difference, even the box is 99% accurate.

Lately I’ve been playing the Tom Ford game paying ridiculous prices for 50ml fragrances but this one is absolutely worth it, not the only one but the most memorable of them It’s warm, it’s spicy but sweet, it’s resinous and woody it’s beautiful. The opening is very incensed but at the dry down you get an ambery resinous sensation that is intoxicating. Personally I love the “church” smell as i grew up in one so the smell of this is very familiar i totally agree that it’s a decadent smell but is also very playful and a beautiful approach to the incense world. The performance is outstanding too, long lasting, on clothes it stays forever and it comes whit a head turning silage. Is not a safe blind buy and you have to test it first, the smell of the bottle or in paper is completely different i test it twice before being completely sure about it. For colder weathers but you can do something in a warm climate if you’re playful enough. It’s also very easy to layer what makes it even nicer. Just keep in mind that right now is in the expensive side of the collection.

Incentivized product, that I received from Influenster and Tom Ford for free in exchange for my honest review, myrrhe mystere by Tom Ford is part of the private blend line and on my skin started off strong with myrrhe as the initial opening slightly musky and spicy for around the first hour then quickly settled into an alluring warm woody sandalwood with a soft vanilla barely there dry down leaving a richly sensual luminous aura that made me think of peace if it actually had a scent. It projects about 6 feet, also it lasted more than 12 hours on my skin and it lasts even longer on clothing in my opinion it's smooth and creamy high quality. Not a gourmand. I find it to be sexy but not in a sweet way at all, and best suited for a fall or winter evening, on any occasion. 1 spray lasted me all those hours on my skin so a little goes a long way .hint: use an fragrance free oil on skin before spraying to act as a fragrance primer. It's worth the investment. I like it a lot and so does my husband he smelled it on me and said it smells really good.

I absolutely love this fragrance. The opening has a slightly sharp, almost medicinal edge that immediately grabs your attention, but it softens quickly into something smooth, resinous, and deeply comforting. Once it settles, it becomes a rich, warm cloud of myrrh and amber that feels both luxurious and grounding. In colder weather, this really shines. I’ve been layering it with Clive Christian Blonde Amber, and the combination is stunning. The brightness and glow of Blonde Amber lift the darker resinous core of Myrrhe Mystère, creating a scent that feels opulent, enveloping, and incredibly refined. It is powerful, though. Two sprays of each is almost too much. The projection is strong and the longevity is all day without question. I have received multiple unsolicited compliments wearing this combination, which says something. It smells expensive, intentional, and confident. I am ready for warmer weather, but I know I will genuinely miss wearing this once the heat arrives. Until then, it has been my daily cold weather signature.

My favourite fragrance of all time. With some caveats Sweet musky to the point of almost oranges, with very dry (Vertofix) cedarwood. Initial opening has a clove, mildly smoky frankincense incense zing as well. I find this to be truly a unique scent, none of the others including those in the 'smells like' actually smell like this (betond perhaps similar musky dry down). My crituques come from the price, combined with a short period of impact. The musks and sandalwood elements last for a long time of course, however they are not 'this fragrance' and the same could be said of most fragrances. The actual unique top and mid notes described previously disappear very quickly, within half an hour, leaving behind the musky orange sweetness, which is nice but not the point. PS. A lot of these reviews talk about a strong myrrh note? Really? Are they just saying this because there's myrrhe in the title - as I can make frankincense out but not myrrh. At least not as obviously as these people are saying

A beautiful, gentle myrrhe fragrance that has some spiritual elements to it. When I say it's gentle, I don't mean the fragrance is weak. Rather, the scent takes an aromatic turn as it develops, and rather than constantly being drenched in a cloud of amber, spice and everything in between, it quickly smooths out and almost "visits" you as the day goes by. I think this is versatile - definitely signature scent worthy, if this is your thing. The scent also suits the bottle. Make of that what you will. I'd also like to add that I don't think this smells like Ebene Fume. There's very little resemblance in my opinion. I understand the comparison, but only at first glance (or sniff). It's not the same thing at all. You could even own both with neither being redundant. I love it, but would implore you to grab this discounted if you're intending to buy it, just as I did. It's hard for me to agree with the retail price, but it's a really good, approachable and inoffensive myrrhe scent otherwise.

This smells wonderful, but very close to Ebene Fume. Ebene Fume is a little more smoky and a little less sweet. I got a sample that I tested out as my SOTD and while it did get me a compliment at church and I enjoy the scent, if you already have Ebene Fume, then this may be redundant. The person who complimented me caught a whiff of my sillage trail as we were leaving the church and thought it smelled amazing but the projection is pretty moderate to weak. I've been pretty disappointed with a lot Tom Ford's releases in the last couple of years and just wish that this projected more and performed better to justify the hefty price tag. If it did, it may have been a winner but unfortunately, on my skin it's not doing enough to wow me. It does smell really nice, though. Overall, 7/10 but for the price, it would need to be a 9 or better for me to consider buying it.

The top and mid of this is much smoother and sweeter than ebene fume but after about 2 hours mot even it dries down and smells almost identical to ebene fume so if u have that id pass on it if u like ebene fume and haven’t bought it yet try this too and then make your decision u might like this better like me i loved ebene but didnt buy a full bottle yet but was planning on it then i got this as a sample from a counter pre release and liked it better so but if u want to save money just get the ebene fume and pay half the price of what this is and in the end not even about and hour n a half after applying u will have the same frag sprayed and one on one hand and the other on the other and after that time frame by just smell I wouldn’t have been able to discern between the 2 if i just didn’t know what one i sprayed on what hand

Quite good actually. It's a classy cross of Bois Marocain and Ebony Fume with slights remnants of amber absolute. Not as austere or dry as Bois Marocain, and ultimately much much better than Ebone Fume, as I find that to one to lean on the feminine side of the spectrum. Myrrhe Mystère is mostly a cypress, thuja, and incense fragrance, with palo santo, amber and labdanum in the base. The myrrh theme is a little linear but it’s both smoky, and creamy in the best possible way. But despite of the enjoyment I do have for this one, I am quite fatigued with Tom Ford's rehashing of formulas using old pyramids. At this point, these scents are just flankers of one another. It will likely get discontinued or replace Ebone Fume due to the similarities.

Underrated. I was kind of on the fence at first but I wore it recently on a cool evening and it's good. That's just the truth. It's undeniably high quality and smells luxurious and refined. It's a beautiful fragrance. Projection isn't great but it lasts a long time especially on clothes. Just overspray if you really want projection. Price is high but the quality is there and look you're buying Tom Ford. That's just how it is. This is a very wearable, designer myrhh fragrance. You can wear this out and probably most people will enjoy it. It's tasteful and refined. It's masculine. It's just overall really solid. It might not blow your mind right away but try wearing it a little bit and see.

Holy shit this is a true gem. I understand the hate this got when it first came out, the "lack" of creativity and its price. Here's my thoughts. - Yes this is very similar to Ébène Fumé and isn't exactly revolutionary. But this is darker and heavier, like walking into an old Gothic cathedral. EF is cleaner and "lighter" to my nose. That slight difference was enough to make me fall in love with this fragrance. - The price is actually crazy. There's no reason in hell why this fragrance should be this overpriced. By some miracle I was able to find a tester 1.7oz bottle on Jomashop for $140 a few months ago, though I'm afraid we'll never see those prices again in the grey market.

Beautiful fragrance. I managed to snag a used bottle for significantly less than retail. I don't think I could justify paying full price for it, but I absolutely adore the stuff. I've sampled hundreds of higher end fragrances and rarely like anything that much. But this one just slaps for me. Good longevity, but moderate silage which is ideal for my tastes. It smells expensive and high quality, but I don't feel like I need to be dressed up. It's got a sweetness but not too much, it has real presence but not overbearing. People say there are much cheaper options that do the same thing. I haven't found one yet. Absolute banger. A rating of 3.87 is crazy talk.
