Noir Anthracite

In terms of notes, it open with a peppery/fresh/green blast. Then the sichuan pepper fully takes the lead, supported by galbanum, birch, cedar as well as other woods, giving nearly an impression of incense. An ode to sichuan pepper. In terms of sensations, this is a niche spicy blend, very dark. Without reading the olfactive notes, I first had the feeling of burning pine, and then, in the drydown, an extinguished but still smoking bonfire. Like the smell of clothes the day after have sit for several hours near a bonfire. Smoke, coal, ashes, pine... that's what you will think of smelling this fragrance. The name Anthracite reflects well this idea. I think that this one was designed for the TF Private Blend line, but did not pass the bar of the marketing dept to be commercialized as such, and they thus decided to put it in retail at a price tag in between the regular and the Private Blend line. I admit, it is a little too linear to justify the PB line price tag, but definitely too sophisticated for the average Sephora Joe to appreciate it. To me, this one had nothing to do on shelves at Sephora, and I'm not surprised at all that it quickly disappeared, since it's not a crowdpleaser, and the price tag was too high for Sephora. Like previous reviews said, despite its name this is not remotely related to the TF for Men line, nor it's a flanker of TF Noir. This fragrance will fulfill experienced creative fragrances lovers, who are looking for a bold dark fragrance. If you liked Amouage Journey, and are looking for something bolder and darker, that shares similarities with Piguet Casbah, and some vibes of Lutens Serge Noire, the original Lalique Encre Noire, and a hint of Gucci Guilty Absolute, then this is for you. Tom Ford fans? Well... you may be surprised. If you loved Tobacco Oud and want something slightly more challenging, then go for it. Anyways, if you like challenging niche frags, just ignore the negative reviews here. Those have probably been written by crowds who love mostly feminine gourmands like TF Noir Extreme, or -at most- unisex leaning masculines like TF Tobacco Vanille (thinking it's a "bold" frag), and who probably classify Oud Wood as a "skanky oud fragrance" despite there's none noticeable in it. If you don't know what I'm talking about when I cited Robert Piguet or Serge Lutens, stay clear from this one. If you love those houses, then rush to get it while you can (I wouldn't pay full retail for this one but, if like me you can find a sealed 100ml pop for $50 on ebay, it's a no-brainer!). Great performance and nice packaging pleasantly contribute to the enjoyment. A little too linear to deserve the "masterpiece" grade imo, but definitely a great dark/fantasy fragrance. Would recommend to more mature crowds, not because it smells dated, but because it makes a statement, and one needs some charisma to wear this one. (money is not, personality is everything... just a reminder). In my top 3 TF fragrances (including the PB line). Highly recommended, for cold evenings and freezing days, 35+.

My 100th review. Yes sir, I have done a lot of Fragrantica shizzle! Before I begin to pen this review, I would just like to quickly say a massive THANK YOU to all who make Fragrantica possible. For an olfactory addict such as me, it is a very valuable resource, when I want to study a particular scent. It's websites like this that make the internet a little bit easier to take. I doff my dusty, foul hat to all who make this website run. I love you, Fragrantica. May you live for all eternity. This scent is a special one for me, hence saving it for my 100th review. Noir Anthracite was the scent that opened my eyes to the world beyond the CK Ones and the Paco Rabannes. A world where raw earth elements clash with luxury, in a hyper-urban setting. It allowed me to see past the plain and ordinary; it showed me another way. Perfumery is an artform. I did not know that until I smelt Noir Anthracite. It is now a mythical beast - since it was discontinued, I have searched high and low for it. Verde by Ajmal is methadone. Noir Anthracite is pure heroin. I hope to one day find a bottle, because I will never give up the search. I must smell it one more time before I drop off the perch and die. It opens cold, and it stays that way. Coal, metal, mineral, rain on urban pavement slabs, wet concrete, corrugated iron being hammered into wet mud. Sharp bergamot for a shimmer of sweetness on the top. Glabanum bridging the gap between green nature and industrial steel. A commanding base of leather, patchouli and cedar. Sold as a rock. It is Mike Tyson in perfume form. It is a smell that I will never forget, and that I will eternally and ferociously hunt. The sad thing is, I almost bought it when it was readily available. But the perfume counter man steered me in the direction of Man 2 by Comme De Garcons. I hugely regret allowing Noir Anthracite out of my grasp, but I thought I had more time to get it. Dang and blast the perfume counter man! If I could go back in time, I would get a message to my younger self somehow, ORDERING myself to buy it immediately. Or I would put laxatives in the perfume counter man's coffee, so he would be unable to steer me away from it. I didn't know the mistake I was making. The perfume counter man sniffed out my naivety, and sold me a something else instead. Looking back on it, I think that the perfume counter man had designs to shift bottles of Man 2. Perhaps they had too many in stock. So when a young, directionless whippersnapper comes in, the perfume counter man enacted his dastardly plan. That is the only reason that I can think of, for why he chose to steer me away from Anthracite. Or maybe he just hated Tom Ford. Maybe one day I will be reunited with my Noir Anthracite. I can only dream. 10/10. Thank you Tom. It is a shame that your brand has now gone to the dogs. In the days of Noir Anthracite, you were at the top of your game.

I was intrigued and loved this fragrance from the first sniff at a Dillard's store. The knowledgeable SA there asked me what I liked and then brought me to the TF fragrances. I was like, "Oh no, nothing is so good that I will pay those prices!" My husband and I ended up buying a TF fragrance that night, but not TFNA. We bought Noir Extreme that night but never forgot TFNA. I was pleasantly surprised that the fragrances in this line weren't as pricey as I imagined! Even if I immediately loved TF Noir Anthracite, my husband thought it was tough and was put off by it. He thought it was a fragrance for Rambo and wasn't something he could wear. Meanwhile my eyes rolled back while sniffing the blotter point blank(this reaction is extremely rare for me as well as letting an actual fragrance blotter touch my nose or even get too close to it). There is a peppery, dry, rubbery, asphalt-like quality to this fragrance. It lacks any sweetness to my nose and smells very serious and masculine. I really enjoyed it immediately and would have loved it if my husband wore it. It's projection and longevity are good but it is not beastly or anything. Something like this might be too much if it were too strong IMO. Months later, we shopped and sniffed at a Sephora and I requested a decanted sample of TFNA with a couple other perfume samples for myself. I gave it to my husband and planted the seed... My husband wore it a couple times and began to like it OK. A couple more months later, and he quickly used up the rest of the decant claiming that he then REALLY liked it. HA!The seed I planted sprouted! He came home with the fragrance yesterday as a late birthday present for himself. YAY!

With the flashlight through an abandoned mine I don't think Tom Ford was around when Noir Anthracite was created. Honorine Blanc, the perfumer in charge of Opium flankers at YSL, tried to bring to light a men's fragrance that would somewhat match the Tom Ford line. I say that because it's really a male beast but it jumped out of the house. If you expect a gurmand, seductive perfume, with rounded edges, maybe balsamic or floral specific TF, no way. It's not necessary. The perfumer forced himself to bring the charcoal out of the perfumery and ... he succeeded. Kneaded leather with birch, galbanum and Sichuan pepper is pretty much all fragrance. Ginger and lemon do not give a fresh note, on the contrary they intensify the harshness of the pepper. If the sandalwood was used ... then it was used maybe to give a more friendly look to the olfactory pyramid because the perfume is sharp, smoked just like a ember, quite hard and imposing. The aromatic pepper still attenuates the abrasive smell of charcoal, but the composition remains dark. It is clearly a masculine perfume, an outfit that is suitable for office events but also casual under certain conditions. It must be worn with confidence, otherwise it will carry you. In autumn, in winter I see it suitable but also in spring when the temperatures are lower. Incredibly artistic and with an average performance. Maybe TF tried an experiment. A successful one, I say, although it does not enjoy a wide appreciation. This perfume doesn't even take into account your opinions when it makes its presence felt. It is about the same volume as Lalique Encre Noir or Narciso Rodriguez for Him, but each with its own unique darkness.

I tried this as a test on my hand in Debenhams a few months go. First sniff....Yeuch! What the hell? Second sniff...hang on, that reminds me of something.....third sniff ....Hey, that is amazing!! That is how polarising this scent is. I ended up playing safe and bought TF's Noir instead. It got me wondering though. What does it remind me of? Was it an aftershave I had long ago in my twenties? Kouros? Aramis? Jazz? Xeryus? I cannot recall. Intrigued, I bought a 5ml sample online. I still can't place it..was it an olfactory flashback to the days when we had a coal fire? On the opening it quickly asserts itself. If a smell could be represented by a statement, it would be "Get out of my way!". I can only describe it as a dry, pungent, smoky, mineral, earthy perimeter that sits around you. If you are close enough to smell it, you are not adhering to the government's social distancing policy. I like it. I like it a lot. I have now bought a 50ml bottle. It means business, don't expect compliments, expect respect from your co-workers. You need balls to wear this. It is a very punctual scent too....if you go for a meeting, this fragrance will arrive in the meeting room before you do and remain long after you have left. Your presence at the meeting will be well and truly registered. Longevity is a reasonable 5 to 6 hours, fairly linear, gradually fades to a leathery skin scent. Sillage is impressive, walk five paces and do a U-turn and walk back. You will walk past yourself. Fragrance- not for the faint hearted, but not unpleasant. I reckon it wont be long before I scale up to a 100ml bottle...maybe one day I'll remember where I have smelled this before.

Wow! Where has this been all my life. Look man I’ve been wearing cologne!(fragrance, whatever term this Generation of fragrance enthusiasts is using) 😂 😃 since I was a little DC street kid of the 80’s.... i’ve been going through a lot of different fragrances lately refining my collection to those that are powerful long lasting scents bubbles. I’m a busy man and I ain’t got time to keep reapplying 💩 all throughout the day..I have a OK size collection my wife tells me I have too many ...but I have to say this is now a favorite. I’m wearing it towards the tail end of summer and I’m loving it as a summer sent and looking forward to it’s feel and evolution during the cold. I normally wear GG Abs as my everyday winter but I might consider putting this into that winter ❄️ rotation...I bought a 1.7 Z’er just to test it out ended up getting a 3.4 afterwards. The longevity is pretty damn solid and this is a fragrance that you wear with confidence because that scent bubble is going to be with you and people are gonna notice it...if you got the right swag and the right gear on it will all connect. Yes this is a unique 1, maybe even strange to some, no this is not for everybody this is a successful confident individuals scent. Grey stone, marble, heat waves rising off asphalt in the ☀️,city of steel, concrete jungle, glass skyscrapers 🏙 comes to mind when I think 💭 of this scent. This not for those inexperienced with niches.....never owned a TF scent before this ...👏🏽 Mr. Ford I can’t wait to try my next ☝🏽.

This fragrance is woody and peppery. According to the notes listed, it appears that ebony is the star. I personally don't see that often, and that may be what makes this fragrance so unique to my nose. There’s definitely some leather in there. I’ve seen references to wet cement in other reviews, and while I don’t quite get that, Noir Anthracite does call to mind a wet, cold night in Gotham City. The notes listed show some greens and citruses, but I don’t pick those up. What I get is potent, dark, and strong. If one were to gender a fragrance, this sits squarely in the masculine camp. I agree with other reviewers who say it smells dated, but for me that’s part of the charm. It's not dated in a way that reminds me of my grandfather. Whenever I spray it, I feel like the hottest guy at some hip LA bar in the 1990s. Remember that show Melrose Place? There was a character played by Grant Show. He rode a motorcycle and wore tight, faded jeans. He was never seen without his well-worn leather jacket. He made all the ladies swoon. Had Noir Anthracite existed in 1992, that guy would have doused himself in it. This is not a fragrance that’s trying to appeal to the masses. It has presence. It is not shy. It’s definitely not going to be for everyone. I love it.

I bought it with a blind knowledge of this being promoted as a woody perfume. The moment I sprayed it on my wrist for the first time, it took me by surprise. The spices opening were tremendous. In fact too spicy to my liking and I started to regret throwing my MYR600+ (Malaysia Ringgit) on a 100ml of this. I had this first impression of this smells funny. Like a spice store on fire. Spices and burnt materials were there. But the the notes changed and to my surprise, it do have the woody elements mentioned. And a superb one too. But the spices were still could be detected. Then it got better with time. Very masculine. Very dominant. Felt like a king for the day. Very commanding. And to my surprise again, the dry down which has all the woods note produced another pleasantly superb masculine smell mixed with my sweat during my workout which at one point, I really felt like cuddling with myself LOL. Longevity is okay for me but the surprises it gave were priceless. Now it has became my signature smell and people will recognize it due to the uniqueness. And yes, I mixed it up with another perfumes that I have in a decant cause I love it so much and most of the times, it works well. But nothing beats Anthracite on its own.

A Fragrance Batman Might Wear This is one of my all-time favorite fragrances, particularly from Tom Ford. The scent is cold, dark, and mysterious, yet remains elegant, unique, and classic. When you wear this, you can be sure that no one else will smell like you, especially since it's becoming increasingly hard to find. It's not a cotton candy, bubblegum crowd-pleaser, and that only makes me love it more. This fragrance isn't one to garner compliments or have people trailing you just to stay in your scent's wake, but I’ve never received any complaints either. The wet stone and concrete vibe that people often mention is spot-on. I was expecting a similar DNA from *Métallique* when it was released, but boy, was I in for a surprise! For me, this fragrance is incredibly versatile—I wear it in almost all situations except during the summer. It’s not that I couldn't wear it then, but I have a few fresher scents that wouldn’t get any use otherwise. On my skin, it lasts about eight hours with a discreet projection, which suits me perfectly. It’s one of my most-used fragrances. I currently own three 100ml bottles of this masterpiece, along with five 100ml bottles of its "flanker" Ajmal Verde (which I’ve also reviewed).

I'm wearing Noir Anthracite today, and the more I wear it, the more I love it. It is a unique fragrance that is clean yet dirty, aloof yet approachable, and sexy and classy. It does channel it's namesake in the best possible way. I think it is best suited for fall and evening, but I'm wearing it at the office, and I feel it is perfectly fine. It definitely makes a statement and I feel it commands respect. First sniffs of this for those that have lived in the Dior Sauvage/Acqua di Gio freshie world will certainly be jarring. This is different than what you are used to. Give it time though...get a sample, and let it grow on you. Don't be afraid of a strong, masculine scent. I heard that Sephora has stopped selling this...which is a shame, but telling about what sells at Sephora (I spoke with a sales rep, and she said most guys only buy one of 5 different fragrances). That's ok though. It helps you stand out from the crowd. It isn't for everyone, for sure. But don't pass this up after just a few sniffs. The drydown is excellent, and longevity is great too. And it's currently a great bargain at certain online prices.

Was able to obtain a carded sample of this scent. Very nice, signature scent worthy. Imo, i think you can pull this scent off anywhere anytime, except maybe hot/cold extremes. My partner and i both agreed it smells like wet wood, as in the forest after it rains, which might be why theres a similarity to narciso rodriguez which supposedly smells like concrete after it rains. Very pleasant though. Theres some spice in the beginning but as time goes on it gets more woody smelling, but definitely keeps that petrachor vibe. Very sad that they discontinued this scent. Will also say, reminds me of TF oud wood, without the oud. Would take anthracite over oud wood (b4 discontinue) because of the increased wearability/versatility and more affordable. Also, no sweetness in this scent, nothing like noir extreme. Finally, good performance, could still get wafts from my forearm 5 hrs in and i only sprayed it once, cant speak for projection/sillage, but id say an arms length, its no monster. Overall 8/10, itd be 9 if it was more available

This fragrance was one of the few options I had to pick from. Either this, Grey Vetiver EDP, or Noir Extreme. I wore Extreme a few nights ago and felt I already owned enough sweet fragrances, so bye that one went. Between Grey Vetiver and Anthracite, which do you think I went with? *drum roll* Anthracite! Not too many fragrances that I own are simply just dry woody and spicy all at once. There is no sweetness to this fragrance and I like that a lot. It is a very unique and bold scent. I first sampled this last September. Loving it at first sniff. Almost buying a bottle near Christmas, I waited for the right time to buy this one. Fall and winter are the perfect time to wear this one. It's bold, sexy, and a powerhouse scent. I bought from Holt Renfrew, and they were having a 15% off sale. So I skipped out on quite a few other fragrances to get this one. It's spicy, cold, metallic, and raw. Nothing comes close to smelling this original. Most men will love this one. I certainly do. 10/10

This is one of the best men’s fragrances that has ever been produced. This is what it smells like: imagine lighting a bonfire burning wood on soil – the fire burns down and goes out the ground goes cold and all the embers get cold - The rain comes down soaking the ash and the soil mixing with nearby moss and vegetation - You come along and grab a handful of this mixed earth into your hands and give it a good hard sniff and you’ve got Noir Anthracite. The breeze is blowing through your hands whilst you are smelling giving this a surprisingly light and airy element. It’s a lot more complicated than this but at its core this is how it feels. It also somehow evokes the feeling of standing on an outcrop surrounded by a lava flow - hot earthy elements with no sweetness. It’s arguably the most masculine men’s fragrance of The last five years and definitely has a mixture of 70s vibes with modern edge and superior quality.

I can't understand why people hate this fragrance! I don't think that this is a masterpiece but it's a pleasant, easy to wear and quite unique fragrance! Anthracite starts very fresh and spicy and after a while some woods, the leather, some smokiness come out. It has a wet ciment like feeling combined with Aventus. Am i the only one that this fragrance reminds him a cimenty, dry, no vanilla version of Aventus?? I dare to say that i like it more than Aventus and i find it more unique.. Performance is really good, 7+ hours longevity on my skin and good projection. I find it very masculine, it has this old-school vibe but it has a modern twist. It can easily be a signature scent, all year round and it will get a lot of attention. I was expecting something really difficult and weird but this is totally wearable! We should trust our noses more and listen to less reviews and opinions of others..

I made an account here just to review this perfume. Out of all the Tom Ford fragrances I've tried, this and Oud Wood definitely are stuck in my memory. From the first spray I had for each till the day I write this review 4 years later. Anthracite is a perfume that can be described in a figure of well groomed gentleman, who drives a black Mercedes, wearing an all black tuxedo. This is my wedding perfume. Any wedding I go to, this definitely is going on. It's elegant, dark, appealing, and intriguing. You just feel superior once you spray this on. The notes start off really vibrant and as the wedding passes, where the 'dancing phase' starts, it fits perfectly as not-so-subtle but attractive scent. While most of Tom Ford's perfumes are overpriced, this is definitely a unique fragrance that till this day I can't find a replacement for.

Way more wearable than I expected after blind-buying it. A bit unique, yet it keeps suggesting I've smelt something similar but can't quite place what it is? My nose may get a weird take that is different from most0 other reviewers, but I do get this earthy Peaty vibe like my Islay Scotches, but sort of a Soapy Peaty for lack of a better description. It's like the ash of smokey woods and Peaty Islay dirt met a neutral Ivory soap. It's cleaner than I expected. Funny, it gives me a suit and tie vibe, that is, for someone established and confident enough to wear it. Or rather, it can be an office scent, provided you are the boss of the company! Certainly masculine. You wear this for yourself, and if they don't like it, that's their problem. High Class. A boss scent. But it is a Tom Ford after all.

I first encountered this scent back in 2017 when I received a sample when I was purchasing another fragrance. At the time when I sprayed it on skin I hated it with a passion. As the days went by, it started to grow on me and I started to admire the scent profile. Since then, I have purchased a full bottle in 2020 and is now pretty difficult to find in nz without spending an arm and a leg. How would I describe this scent? It's like walking through a forest while it's pouring down with rain and the soil, trees etc emits a type of interesting smell. It's like a very dark, mysterious, woody, mouldy scent. Pure art. I don't wear this fragrance anymore as it's not suitable for an office environment but every once in a while I will take a whiff and appreciate the scent profile. It's a masterpiece.

This perfume is absolutely stunning. The only perfume it reminds me of is Armani Attitude, which sadly got discontinued. I imagine this is what powerful movie antagonists smell like, or suave, decisive men wearing an all-black outfit. Mysterious and dark, enticing and dominant. This scent smells like absolute dominance, and for any night out where you don't feel as talkative or bashful, this is perfect for that "in the corner, yet in the spotlight" type feel. I could smell this for hours, just because it's so unique. It's sweet yet bitter, very leathery and spicy. Absolutely not for any occasion, and not for everyone. Would highly recommend smelling it before purchasing. All in all, an amazing fragrance. If you need a fragrance that says "I mean business", this is for you.

A throwback of sorts. It is familiar but also feels modern. I get a lot of pepper on my skin. It feels green, dark, musky, dirty and dry. No sweetness here. It has a similar vibe of Prada Amber intense in the dryness and the patchouli. I love it. Though, it carries the name "NOIR", its worlds apart from the others in the TF Noir series. I think it should have been called something else, but oh well...I know this one gets a lot of hate, but I think if youre into classic scents and have the kind of confidence it takes to smell this bold, it could be your signature scent. Its quite pleasing to my nose. Worth trying out if youre into the powerhouse frags of yester-year. The longevity and projection on this one is quite good as well.

This is a challenging fragrance to wear and I think that's why it is discontinued. And, I don't care! This is a lovely scent that I really enjoy wearing it. No joke, I put one spray on my shirt and I can pick it for at least 12 hours after that. In warm weather it becomes chocking even for me. It's woody spicy scent with good amount of leather; I don't pick much floral notes in it. The only thing that this is missing to me is some high quality incense in it. It would have taken it to the next level if it had some. If Honorine Blanc by any chance reads these comments this is for you: please redo this with some good quality incense and replacing Galbanum and Jasmine notes with Iris :)

I picked up a display bottle of this with a broken atomizer and it spilled all over my hand, so Tom Ford Noir Anthracite and I were forced to spend the entire day together. I would gladly do it again and again. It smells like a more masculine and way more complex version of Bottega Veneta Eau Legere. It is dry, spicy, and cold, but in an "I mean business" type of way. VERY SEXY. Sillage and longevity are good but in no way overpowering. My husband really liked the way it smelled on me, but I think the leathery, spicy, woody, patchouly combo would smell irresistible on him. This is definitely a very underrated TF offering and will be adding this to my husband's collection very soon.

Beautiful. I've been wearing this off and on for the last few years. It gets better the longer it sits on your skin - resolves for me into something carnal, but very unique. Some have mentioned the smell of asphalt after rain - definitely. My first association when initially spraying was (in my mind) comparable to leaning over the edge of a volcano and inhaling deeply. This really settles into something special. Don't take this the wrong way, but the spiciness mixed with the wood almost smells like BO - but in a good and addictive way. Bummed that this is discontinued and will definitely track down more while I can. Two thumbs up.

This is where TF shined. Bold, assertive, unique, masculine and angular. This juice fucks, and I know that sounds trite but it’s appropriate and accurate. Coal, dry ebony, ink, patchouli, pepper and light florals. Someone below described it as being fresh but dark and smoky but light and that is spot on, it’s so expertly balanced. I hope the performance is good because I will have to find a bottle of this. If you like Tom Ford’s more aggressive offerings I.e Tobacco Oud, Oud Minerale, Ombré Leather then this will scratch your itch. To me, it’s the kind of frag that made this house one of the best in the game. 9/10

This is about as sweet as a pile of ashy bones and an old leather saddle that are left out to bake in the hot blistering desert sun for 20 years or more. Then, a concrete truck pulls up and dumps it’s chalky, rich wet contents into a foundation dug next to the crackling bones and weathered leather, and it steams out of that earth until it dries. There is a very mineral aspect to this that is devoid of anything aquatic in the perfumery sense, and there is green in that desert, sure, but it is very dry. Noir Anthracite is unforgiving, impenetrable, and not “nice” in any sense of the word, and I love it.

Love Anthracite.... Earthy, masculine... I kind of get a slight mineral, smoky, cigarette ashy aroma. Unique. It isn't a projection monster but there was a small scent cloud around me. It did garner me a compliment while at the movies (from the test sprays acquired at Macy's before the movie). I could smell it occassionally and others near me could too apparently hence the unsolicited compliments. Honestly when I first sprayed it, it seemed very fleeting but all of a sudden about 15 min later it started to turn on with sexy waft of this awesome aroma. Recommended.

Masterpiece. I experience this fragrance as a unified accord and love its uniqueness. I find it extremely difficult to analyze the profile, and looking at the note breakdown, it seems to have picked things from the entire wheel. But I’d describe it as a metallic-green wood with subtle plastic and leather nuances, and a pepper that lasts. Absolutely exceptional. Discontinued—and I will have to make the 95ml I got left last for the next 15 years. I’m not convinced anything can replicate the experience of this one. It’s how I imagine a spaceship would smell.

Spicy-resinous woods, coniferous herbal foliage, torched-infused birch, and cool elegant smoke that radiates off of wet coal. Those that are fans of earthy smelling, ever-green scents, and just love the complexity and the art-form of niche perfumery will absolutely appreciate what Tom Ford has done with Anthracite. Dark, bold, mysterious are the words that come to mind when I smell this creation. I simply love everything about it. Many might find this scent challenging, but I for one never want to be without it.

bold and very niche like, if this was one of their private line release people would go gaga over it, i dont enjoy the opening much but drydown is really beauty...green woody leather combo i enjoy a lot...strictly cold weather, mature men's scent with leather jacket and jeans.... no sweetness no citrus...no playfulness...built for your own experiencing :) definitely TRY before you Buy :) for uniqueness 9/10 for masses its a 6/10..due to the wear-ability factor... you need balls to wear this :)

This is discontinued,sadly. So...I blind-bought it !! Love at first sniff for me. This one brings me back to the 90's. It is like a "mix" of vibes of scents from that era...blended/thrown together and with positive results. This scent will remind you of other scents...but for me to figure out "which one (s)" is confusing me. NA performs very well on my skin. The sillage is quite above average. Hidden gem !! LOVE it. Basically, as far as notes....what you see is what you get here.

I love Anthracite. I don't understand why this fragrance was discontinued. This is apt for winter nights. It gives off concrete, metal welding and wood. It opens up with a strong spicy opening but settles down in slight floral and soft fatty sandalwood. This is not a blind buy. This fragrance blooms on the skin. Anthracite is not a fragrance to smell on paper. I wear it to the office, I wear it to dinners, I wear it to lunches. and the bottle is extremely beautiful. LOVE IT!

This has already disappeared from Sephora, which is notoriously strict for removing any scents that don't sell well, I predict it will be discontinued before next winter. Stock up! I see Anthracite Noir going for double or triple its current price in a couple of years online. *officially discontinued (in Canada at least.) I asked the Tom Ford SA for this and they looked at me like I just asked them if they had any information about a missing person from 1973.

Definitely Not for everyone, but I have this strong attraction to this scent for some reason since the first sniff. I love how bitter the opening is and it also reminds me of some old school men’s fragrance that i cant place but I love it. Actually had a small bottle and my girl didnt care for it, so i sold it. Just today i got a replacement bottle since you cant find it in stores, and the first sniff really does it for me yet again. Glad I brought it back.

A more modern Polo green? Where Noir Extreme taunts with Rose notes and classy sweetness, this drags you to a construction site and makes you sit amongst concrete, steel, welding and wood and smell that instead. So contemporary. Definitely a male fragrance. Extremely bold. Sillage is off the charts, and longevity is great. One of my favorites of all time. Sad it’s been discontinued. Not worth the eBay prices. At all. TF stuff is overpriced as it is.

When I first smelled this, it was not what I expected. I thought there would be some resemblance to the Noir line, there is none. Much like TF London, this is dark, spicy and leathery with no sweetness at all. Also like London, this is gorgeous in cold weather and lasts all day. It is extremely masculine, I would not want to smell this on a woman. Over all, this is pure TF DNA and is well worth the money. Another winner from the house of Tom ford.

There is a thread that connects Noir Anthracite to the decisive masculine chypres of old (Polo, Yatagan, Aramis, Anteus). A sharp, almost metallic green opening settles eventually to a woody leather base. Like most modern releases with a mind of its own, this was discontinued a few years back. If you happen across it, give it a try. It is one of the only perfumes I’ve smelled that manages to be a truly modernized take on the pine-leather chypre.

I put this on when I want to feel like an 80s action hero, in the cold weather with my leather jacket. Statement maker. Maybe more challenging to the wearer than the observer as it's been well received when I've worn it. PS: this page has THE best reviews. A spicy, powerful and dark fragrance from the Tom Ford Noir line. It smells dark and mysterious, like a forest at night or a warlock. It's bold, confident and sexy. I adore the sichuan pepper note, it boosts your sex appeal and makes you smell a bit dangerous. The more woody notes are super elegant in an unpolished self-confident way. A must try for powerful sexy sensual people out there.

Christ knows how, but I fell lucky grabbing a 100ml bottle of this off Amazon recently for $140 AUD. A spicy, leathery, woody number. I get tobacco and earthy undertones in this. It makes me want to throw on a pair of black jeans and a Mötorhead shirt and mosh like a teenager again. Fantastic stuff. Probably not one for the office. Not unless you want Karen from HR on your case.

After 7 years the opening of my 50ml bottle is spoiled, the citrus notes are sour and it's basically a strong alcohol smell, but after 20 min this masterpiece is still as beautiful as it's ever been, longevity is 10h+ with great sillage, luckily the scent profile has not changed a bit. A true masterpiece from Tom Ford, I miss the old days of this brand. 10/10

A welcome addition to my Collection and wearable choices ..... It breathes Quality , Refinement . For the a self assured , mature ( + 35 Male) . Green and Earthy .......Very Masculine .This TF lasts and projects ......without being loud . A Frag which I have placed next to other unique Pieces ( the misfits ) : V&R Antidote . Givenchy - Insense . CdG Copper .

As others have said, it's a very nice modern yet classical chypre. I'd been looking for a modern chypre for a while but had almost given up... I've been wearing suits more regularly recently and was going out specifically to buy BdChanel but this was on special and, for me at least, fulfills 'power dressing scent' in a less played-out manner

It’s interesting when you hear a fragrance described as green wet cement (which I agree with) and still like it. That’s what Noir Anthracite is. Very unique, very peppery, and very minerally. This one took a hard exit off of the mainstream cologne highway. If you like dark, mysterious, classy scents you should really check this out.

This was a blind buy and before buying it I was on the fence. Turns out I ended up loving this Spicy woody concoction. When I got how the wife was not a fan at all, but she is coming around. Today my wife’s bf smelled it and bought a bottle for her guy. Take away is this is not for everyone but when it is you are all in.

Fascinating scent . Extremely woody, metallic and modern . Inspired by the 80s chypres and creating an outstanding nostalgia scent , combined with the TFs creativity. So far one of the most sophisticated scents from TF along with Noir EDP, signature scent for winter galas and special occasions. Love it !!

I love it, stuff with this sort of pepper note always makes me a sucker. Im not decided but this one might be going up for sale (i have a 100ml almost full) solely because while i love the fragrance, i do not enjoy wearing it in high heat lol, which im usually in. Its a shame but c'est la vie...

This one is a real gem. The darkest from the noir line, woody, spicy, peppery, leathery, dry, deep, intriguing, elegant, mannish, strong, self confident, dominant... This is how I imagine an african king would smell... not for everyone , don't blind buy it, it's a love or hate fragrance.

This dry down is fantastic: earthy, woody, spicy, even a little fresh. Definitely a challenge, and definitely unique if you are in your 30's and never smelled the 60s or 70s, but pretty damn good. Not something I wear every day, but something I really enjoy on a cold, rainy, gray day.

Dark strong moody reminds me of me, I tried this in-store and felt I had to have it. Defiantly a challenging innovative scent that Tom Ford is known for, performance and projection is good, the finish is a little too floral for me being the strong and moody type. I love it.

Now that I have owned and tried all of the frags from this line (till 8/2022), none come close to this one. This for me is by far the best of the line. I am definitely getting a backup bottle of this while I can. Anyone who has one and doesn't want it, please pm me.

Remember how Gucci discontinued Pour Homme I, Envy, and Rush because they were beginning to be seen as too uber masculine and dated to be sold as designer fragrances? Here is a modern example of that exact same scenario.
