Noir Eau de Toilette

when I first tried it after sampling noir I was sort of ok ...but the more I wore it the more I enjoyed it. I agree with wes that it is safe in the office, actually received a few compliments. my wife really seems to enjoy this on me. I do see some similarities to habit rouge, which grottola mentioned, I have always liked and have that. I think this compares with the vintage habit rouge which I lucked on to finding reasonably. I think I would wear this one more often though. goes on very light and I can not detect it after a bit but others do, so i have to be careful not to over apply. I like this more than the noir de noir , but that is just me. this smells very classy to me. it is definitely worth trying out, give it some time, sometimes it takes a second wearing. but for me thumbs up. if you really want to try a tom ford that will get your attention try Italian cypress. if you ever enjoyed halston's z14.. tom ford's scents are quality. I wish they were more affordable. whether I enjoy them all or not that is a different story but for this one.. YES.. I will wear this..

I love this fragrance so much! I originally owned this when it first released but sold it..but then spent years regretting it. Just got a new bottle and I love it even more. It really dances on the skin and i can't stop smelling myself. It's a powdery classy type fragrance but I guess there is musk that shines through on it. I was reading reviews on this somewhere else and apparently some of the guys (obviously still trying to pull the ladies with crap like 1 million)thought it smells like grandma or old lady.. I personally just think it smells classy and alluring. If you have not tried this it's well worth it. Great longevity as I smell it all day and the silage is pretty good as well. It's a 8/10 for me!

The mistake that I made when I got this gem was that I wore it in winter and it just did not have the strength for winter so I sold it but I left a 5ml decant and one summer night I was craving the smell of this so I said what the heck I'll wear this and here comes the suprise and my regret. This performs very nicely in warm weather so naturally I was kicking myself for selling it because I love this modernized Habit Rouge DNA and for me, out of all from TF Noir line and Habit Rouge line, this one smells the best. So if you go for this one do not wear it in cold months, wait for warm weather and enjoy it.

Have you ever found a fragrance that you put on and it lets you know that it loves your skin? This is one of those fragrances. From the first time I put this on it was flattering, and warm, and fit like it was tailored just for me. The spices are perfectly blended with the wood, and the citrus, and the green, with just enough sweet to satisfy my sweet tooth. It lasts longer than I thought it would and I get whiffs of it throughout the day. This is a very handsome EDT, or do I feel handsome wearing it? I haven't tried the EDP so I can't compare. Damn good scent!

Tested this in Debenhams. It smells exactly like the EDP but in a lighter variation. Don't let that fool you because the sillage and longevity with the EDT version is amazing. I sprayed this on at 12 and it still smells strong on my skin nearly 7 hours later. There is a citrusy twist in the opening and to my nose a I do detect a minty vibe but it's not strong enough to dominate. I will definitely be adding this to my collection at some point. Very masculine and great from day to night.

Très bon parfum Il est vraiment pas mal, j'ai l'impression qu'il joue dans la cour des grands, sauf qu'il pouvait bien tenir plus longtemps pour y rentrer, mais en final, ça reste une bonne fragrance avec ces notes boisés, épices, musc, citron et menthe, j'aime beaucoup... Je le préfère à l'eau de parfum, et il tient beaucoup plus que l'eau de parfum a mon avis Pour des soirées privées, des restos, des dîners ... il fera très bien l'affaire 8/10

I'm yet to smell a bad perfume by Tom Ford! The guy is a fashion genius. The smell is a soft, woody, smoky, with a hint of spices & citrus. Very Arabic. No wonder his fragrances, including the old YSL M7, are a hit in the middle east. A must try for the fans of woody fragrances! The price, like all Tom Ford's, remain a con. More expensive than Chanel or Dior. A shame really. Prevents some people owning it.

@jcravenw @mochiprincess Dad bought me my first bottle in Fall 2014 right before I would graduate from college, and I can confirm my liquid is peach/beige colored. Don't ever recall leaving in direct sunlight (always in my closet), but I did notice it turned this color over time. Regardless, still one of my best fragrances and highly recommend it if you can find it legitimately.

Opens fresh with undertone of Gucci envy then after 5 minutes it becomes powdery and less sweet version of a*men pure malt. After half an hour pure malt desolves in beautiful sour and bit sweet powdery woody dry down. Love how the scent is consrtucted, it has beautiful depth and some grandmather luxury parfume vibe. A LOVE for me.

Nice blend. Spices, citrus and musk. Masculine. Gendered but I’d never say someone can’t wear it. I took it for granted for couple years. Focus on some others. The mark of quality sometimes means I catch myself reaching for it. Like today. To me, is rather classic. As time passes it’s value increases. This is becoming a favorite.

I really like this scent from Tom Ford. I see shades of Guerlain in it, like Habit Rouge or Shalimar EDC. That is a compliment! It is definitely the lightest out of his Noir scents, but light doesn't equal lesser quality. Sometimes you want something lighter and closer to the skin. This fits the bill! A classy scent!

oh man.. why this discontinued? This bitter powdery citrus chocolaty creation is so easy to wear and I enjoy every moment of wearing it. It is my go to frag and still a highly sophisticated soapy scent. The dry down is quite chocolaty but there still remains of bitter citrus and soap. no..! why..?

It's a classic!! Masculine citrusy minty oriental woody sweet but not that sweet! I love it! For sure for men! not for young men!! you can wear it all day at spring and fall!! Another great perfume from Tom Ford! Underated for no reason! Dont think about it go for it!!

This is definitelly a UNISEX perfume. To me this scent is a mix of Guerlain Shalimar + Prada Amber. Overall this is a beautiful, rich, multidimensional perfume for men and women, so if you are tired of yucky sweet-candy-mainstream-y perfumes you need to try this one.

A fantastic smell! Warm spices & powder. Smells like a less sweet version of L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme Eau Extreme. The projection is strong & the lasting power is moderate. Love it!

Very lovely, airy spices and powdered citrus. Definitely reminds me of Habit Rouge, especially the opening. Best for warm weather, feels fresh and clean with some added depth.

Fresher and smoother than than EDP, whereas the EDP is denser, drier with more depth. Both are absolutely enjoyable. In short: EDT for day, EDP for night.

Tom Ford's Noir (EDT) is an outstanding, masculine, elegantly refined scent that makes me feel good about myself. Love it!

Folks say this is like Habit Rouge, but really, it's Shalimar EDT with more citrus. Not as heavy.

Smells like the bottle looks: foggy, damp, woody, musky and clean.

Congratulations to Tom Ford on making such a fantastic Guerlain!

Got loads of samples of this today through my friends at various Tom Ford counters around the north west...so thanks for that. When I looked on here at the notes I was expecting a totally different fragrance as I suspect many others were. The review below says it all really the same fragrance as Noir, a deep warm wonderful iris, pathouli, amber, resiny, vanilla, animalistic, spicy...the list goes on quite frankly a staggering concoction of notes. I have noir eau de parfum and personally I love it! I can't understand people who bang on about Noir de Noir, and make like for like comparison...just because they have both have noir in the name. They really are very different fragrances. Anyway...this eau de toilette for my Money has the same longevity, projection and sillage as the EDP (black bottle) with a blast of citrus in the top which genuinely wowed me at first because it gives this fragrance a new dynamic. Unfortunately top notes being true to their name are gone very quickly...if this scent could somehow retain those fresh citrus notes at least a while longer into the drydown it would be a hugely interesting fragrance against that Noir backdrop. So effectively what I'm saying is, this drysdown to Noir and is not noticeably any weaker so if I had the choice again I would probably go for this just because of the interesting fresh opening, and if the price is cheaper(not sure what it is?) you could plump for this one.

Wanna wear Habit Rouge but don't like it? Try this fragrance. The original Tom Ford Noir Eau de Parfum is a woody oriental with a Guerlain feel to it, built around an accord of violet and Guerlinade-esque vanilla; Noir Eau de Toilette (which really isn't Noir and should instead be called Blanche or something) goes even further into Guerlain territory and stands tall as a Habit Rouge for the young 2010s metrosexual - bits of Habit Rouge's powdery, Froot Loop aura are there, but the woods are a bit drier, the powder calmed down, the sweetness not as severe, and the creaminess just right. I happen to be a *huge* fan of Habit Rouge, but I can certainly attest that there are some situations where it's a bit too much to wear, and I'd be happy to wear Noir Eau de Toilette instead. As expected from Tom Ford, the sillage and longevity are excellent. One of the best releases of 2013. Disclaimer: You may not notice as many similarities to Habit Rouge as I do. Maybe it's just my nose and I'm weird. But when I sprayed it on a few hours before I wrote this review, it definitely felt like I was smelling Habit Rouge's spiritual successor on the back of my hand.

Noir Is The New Rouge (Olivier Gillotin, 2013) Scentrack: Nicola Conte – Bossa Per Due Apparently, for the perfumer Olivier Gillotin the role model for this fragrance was legendary Guerlain Habit Rouge. It has all the qualities of Habit Rouge, only little bit updated – easier to wear and cleaner. It opens up with the yellow lemon kick and a touch of bergamot, while strong mint gives a huge green aspect. The gentle Pink pepper is present in the opening as well. Very soon floral bouquet of fresh, but subdued roses and slightly powdery iris opens up. This fresh, pollen-like, but still not feminine heart is gorgeous. In the drydown vanilla becomes a more pronounced, with just a touch of patchouli. In the background something woody, and almost animalic is present. This note is not strong, but still giving a needed masculine edge. Noir EdT is smart, easy to wear masculine fragrance. It has some retro vibe, but still perfectly contemporary. It possesses a Mediterranean charm and refined relaxed attitude. Rating 8/10

Of the three versions of Noir, the EDT offers the most balanced and more quality aroma, but also is the least powerful of all. Each stage of its evolution in three phases is easily distinguishable: Fresh citrus entrance with a nice balance between the mint and the acidity of the lemon that takes you gently to the heart notes with soft herbal nuances, moved under a central axis of many spices, soft musk rising from the Oriental base notes it reminds me of vintage classics (not the current version) of Guerlain, as Habit Rouge, but much more updated and somewhat rejuvenated (the best phase of this Noir). Drying with notes of wood and musk nuances continues to expand and produce an effect like second skin makes Guerlinade. Beautiful fragrance, timeless classic, medium-high, with good lasting qualities, but for my taste is lack of much more projection (I noticed very light and soft) which detracts from the end result. Rating: 7.5

Noir (Eau de Toilette) is a lovely versatile scent. I've begun wearing this a couple times a week when I work somewhere different than the usual sauna of an office that I usually be in. Best Weather/seasonal conditions in my opinion would be spring and Autumn. Performance wise Noir (edt) lasts respectably but projection is somewhat soft, however that is ok in my book, you do not want to be pushy with your fragrance if it is spicy and musky. Although light the transformation from fresh citrus to musky is very well done here, there are no edgy periods, very smooth. In fact, Noir seems to go out of its way to be inoffensive, it is a really good example of good workmanship, fresh, then warm, then musky and subtle. I got a 100ml for £55.75 and for that price I believe it is pretty good value, I doubt I will ever need to buy another bottle as it will probably last me years. Nice!

I just moved this to my signature fragrance. It is so fresh for Spring and Summer, yet it's much more than a great fresh fragrance. It smells full and complex, with fresh spices and manly florals, a nice earthy green vib, and a nice smooth sandalwood. The first hour is outstanding, mid and drydown are still very good, but I like to reapply after a few hours, just to experience the great opening. This Noir edt is an underated gem. It may smell like some classics, so for younger men under 35, this may seem too mature or dated. I am mature and like great classics. As Tom Ford Grey Vetiver is to Guerlain Vetiver, so is TF Noir to Guerlain Habit Rouge. The TF's mentioned add modern, brighter touches to a classic theme. Rating: 8.5/10 God bless. John 3:16

This smells like Old Spice. There, I said it. A good friend gifted me a vintage bottle of the original peach-color version of Tom Ford Noir EDT, and, yes, it smells like Old Spice (probably the better Shulton version). That being said, I like Old Spice. I have worn Old Spice. This is a richer, finer version to be sure, and in that respect this fragrance succeeds (as in "I will wear it often until it is used up"). It has that warm spice quality that suits every occasion. Old school, barbershop, masculine, and in this case full-bodied and long-lasting. Its an upscale take on a classic scent. Great to have in one's collection. Too bad it comes with the TF price.

I realized today how anamalic this smells. Patchouli and an indolic Iris accord, giving it an anamalic vib, along with the civet, all listed under the edp. I recently almost purchased the new TF fougere, Beau De Jour. I like this much better as a fougere type fragrance. This is mossy, but has Iris vs lavender. The Beau de Jour is very harsh and very synthetic vib with too many aroma chemicals.

just tried it and i'm afraid tbe review is no different to the original one i ve posted. sad though. i was expected a fresh burst of mint, citrus and herbs. it's more bearable ( the drydown) and i didn't wash it off, it is quite too feminine to my taste. 4/10

Habit Rouge without the rose or vanilla notes and adds a powdery note. Easier to wear than HR especially in warmer weather. I own both but I don't think they are different enough to recommend owning both to others.

Very nice scent, I like it but it has the same vibe as Jaipur by Boucheron, the same feeling and the same quality to my nose. Very good scent but not enough to buy a bottle. Moderate performance.

Not a review, but try layering this on top of oud wood. The pepper notes are accentuated wonderfully when blended and the soapy rosewood shines. Happy smelling!

Starts out fresh and citrusy and quickly turns warm and spicy. This is a versatile scent. Overall, nice but not my jam.

A close, more woody relative of Amber Musk by Narciso Rodriguez. Very nice

It’s like a warm’th cloud. Yes I said warmth! Absolutely signature scent worthy. It’s like something you’ve smelled before, in a dated way.. but 🤔 damn is this good. It’s subtle, nothing loud, screechy, nor piercings about it. Is a tad animalic. Main notes are oriental blended w/ smooth spice & just a touch of woods all in a cocoon of cloudy musk. The mint plays a critical role in binding the notes together & also elevating the clouded musk that comes off as aromatic/ powdery. It’s not sweet at all. Citrus is gone on initial spray. Personally, My mind is fucking blown rn. This is right up my alley as I lean towards more Old School fragrances. Fresh & clean frag Edit 12/2/23: This is quite dusty or moss smelling.. in a less likable way, but still a good fragrance. Guessing this is due to the dry herbs. A denser/ richer, less citrusy Burberry Britt

Tom Ford Noir might just become a redundant fragrance in your collection, but nevertheless it is still a Tom Ford fragrance, so it is bound to have class and a smooth blend. When my friend wanted to sell me his 50ml bottle for $40, I just couldn't say no. What a steal for the value, if your main concern is smoothness and quality, Tom Ford is always a guarantee in its entire line. For starters, it has a quality citrus opening. You immediately pick up on that citrus herbal blend. The citruses dry down fairly quick and the spices and herbs lay dominance. Imagine a herbal cocktail like a mojito. The spices stay prominent but very subtle, almost like an aftershave. This becomes a skin scent quickly but man do you ever smell clean and fresh with it. The musk amplifies that clean feeling you get, just lovely. It seems hard to find nowadays but for what its worth, I would not pay full price for this. This however is a great Segway to your fragrance discovery especially into the Tom Ford Line. I recommend this as a starter but it may become redundant if you own many. Value: 4/10 Scent: 7.9/10 Longevity: 5/10 Overall: 7.8/10

I find this blah and forgettable. It goes on smelling vaguely spicy/gourmandy and just sort of barely exists, leaving not much of an impression. Timid, unimpressive and overpriced. Is it "safe for work?" Yes. Very much so. In fact, corporations could issue it to employees. And come on... the juice color... an albino noir?

I just got this for my April Scentbird order, wearing it at work today for the first time. I'm a woman, and to me this is totally unisex if you like spicy, ambery scents. I'm generally underwhelmed. I have used A. LOT. OF. SPRAYS. today, so far. And it keeps disappearing on me! I can always tell if I like a fragrance, because when I do, I keep sniffing my wrists all day, trying to figure out the notes, and smell the scent through it's different stages. I'm not doing that today, and when I sniff I keep wanting to smell more development, something, anything, and it just sort of stays the same on me, and for not very long! Upon first spraying, I smell a blast of spice and citrus and then...it goes away. It doesn't seem to develop, and I can't even smell it on my coat from this morning, and it's only 1:30 pm! I expected a TF fragrance to be on my clothes for days, like Black Orchid does. It has a tad of Guerlainade where it dries down with a bit of vanilla spice and seems sort of Shalimar-ish, but it's fleeting and then it's just gone. I love Shalimar, but it's not what I was expecting here. This is one of TF's "cheaper" fragrances, whatever that means, but it's still way too expensive for me to justify buying a bottle, when the performance is this poor. Perhaps the EDP is deeper and richer. I keep reapplying and now I'm getting nervous that I've used too much and will be waking around in a cloud of spice all day. The Scentbird vial is nice bc I can bring it with me but if I had an entire bottle of this, I'm not sure what I'd do, especially as I specifically got this because it seemed like a nice, dark fragrance that was still "clean" enough for work. Overall, I'll use it up, gladly, as it is nice, but not sure I'd ever want a full bottle. I don't seem to crave it like I do certain other scents, but it does seem like this could have been developed to become something a little more. It's very cold out today, so I'll try this again when the weather heats up, as I feel that this might be a great scent for summer days and nights, and body heat might develop it a little more.

I think Grottola’s review below is SPOT ON, and I won’t even dare going into the technical aspect of the scent, as the review nailed it. Noir (EDP and EDT) brings me back to my childhood, a very happy period of my life (I was lucky enough to have 2 very loving parents). As it is the case with a lot of young boys, my dad was (is) my hero as a kid and he only wore 3 fragrances in his 55 years (so far!) on this earth: Pour un Homme de Caron, Habit Rouge and Le Male. Habit Rouge always brings back memories of happy times every time I smell it, flashes/images of my dad getting home at night and Sundays spent playing outside with him and my brother. I would never wear it personally, as I feel, even though he doesn’t wear it anymore, that it is “his”, but I’ll always remember going to the perfume shop to smell – as a big Tom Ford fan – Noir EDP for the first time when it came out. At the time I didn’t know what to expect, but I certainly wasn’t expecting to be hit “right in the feels” when smelling my wrist. I had to double-check the bottle to make sure it wasn’t Habit Rouge I was smelling for the first time in 18 years. It wasn’t, and soon enough the differences (again, brilliantly put into words by Grottola) started to appear, but the similarities were enough for me to instantly love it. This wasn’t Habit Rouge, this was different enough for me to wear it as my own, but every time I wear it I feel this safety blanket that a kid feels around a loving parent... I own both the EDP and EDT versions, and they are different enough to justify buying both if you’re a real fan of one of them. Depending on the mood/occasion, I will wear one or the other (they have to fight my 60+ fragrance collection!), but this is definitely a personal favorite of mine. Is it signature worthy? Definitely, in my case, my mood changes so often that I rarely wear the same fragrance twice a week but when I do, it will be one of those two. Brilliant stuff Mr Ford.

Indeed, more people find Tom Ford Noir EDT (a bit similar) to Habit Rouge and I agree. I just wished they would have been more pronounced. As from the top, scent wise, 80% Habit Rouge EDT. More subtle.Softer. Modest projection. Skin Scent in about 2 hours. It will stay like that for another 6-8 hours. Long lasting from that point of view. Tom Ford did it before (2009) and than they did it again in 2013. They copied, duped, cloned, whatever you want to name it, 2 great Guerlain Masterpieces. Now, I love Grey Vetiver, but Noir is just a very poor clone of Habit Rouge. It turns a skinscent within less than 2 hours, whereas the original shines all day. I usually take a shower 12 hours later and by than it is still stronger than Noir from the start. Habit Rouge has a great Sillage and Projection. TF Noir is shy and no one will notice it. I paid less than 40 € for 100 ML for the Guerlain, almost 60 € for 50 ML for Tom Ford. If reviewers who noticed the similarities would have been more pronounced,I would have spent my money on Habit Rouge Eau de Parfum. As I also have the L'Eau flanker. I find it typical from this community that people only refer to a fragrance as a Clone or Dupe, if it is cheap. But when it comes to the big brands, nobody has the guts to tell it like it is. The good news is, Tom Ford Noir EDT has been discontinued.

Just purchased a 100ml bottle of this in a Spanish department store, original cellophane, completely intact, a tad store room soiled, sitting in the display case where they had Aramis and Z Zegna. Beyond weird, especially as this branch of the chain does not carry TF along with the fact this is discontinued and this department store immediately removes discontinued products (I was there to see if they had any DHP original. Anyway, it was so weird I bought it, zombie-like without much thought. Very glad I did as it is a well-rounded little number that is perfect for late summer/early autumn. It is reminiscent of Habit Rouge and it is more palatable than TF BdJ. HR with a good dose of DNA from our Mr Ford. I line it so much that I doubt the bottle will make it to Christmas. As an additional note of weird...the batch code was A86 which is August 2016 - it must have been in the stock room among miscellaneous items and just used to fill a space in the display stand (you can see there is not as much stock on the shelves as usual). A love from my end... EDIT sprayed this twice on my wrist before a 48 hour shift at work...still detectable and recognizable after 36 hours. Very surprising indeed, I’m scratching my head over it, I really am.

I like this one...a lot. I get a powdery, creamy floral scent that is very pleasant as long as it's not oversprayed...I think you gotta be careful on the trigger with this one - I can see where, if you have it cranked up loud, it could be too rich for too long (I mean rich as it would be used when talking about a dessert - if you eat a very rich chocolate creme pie, when you're done with a piece you've had enough of it kind of thing.) Probably just me, but I see a lot of similarity between this and Black Orchid and Tom Ford Extreme. There very well may be an old lady makeup that smells similar to this (see reviews below,) and it might smell a little like baby wipes, but I've neither smelled a lot of old lady makeup nor have I been around babies, so I have no such negative associations :-)

I agree with others here who have compared this to Guerlain's Shalimar, somehow slightly less 'feminine' but nonetheless mysterious. As Tom Ford and I are almost exactly the same age, I can only imagine that his mother, too, wore Shalimar on special occasions, and the memories of it were too intoxicating to ignore. (though I can attest from personal experience that wearing Shalimar myself ended up being a bit too creepy. I'll let Dr. Freud sort that one out). So thank you, thank you, Tom Ford for bringing back a lot of great memories, and yet still letting me be me. As with the original scent, I rarely, if ever, smell this on someone else, but always get a compliment or two when I wear it.

While this may sound like a joke, I am being serious: has anyone ever seen a bottle of Noir EDT with orange/peach-ish coloured juice? I bought a bottle, supposedly legit, and the juice is honestly peach coloured. I could hold by bottle of Bitter Peach beside it and they'd look nearly identical. I'm 99.9% sure it's fake, but it smells exactly like literally everyone else describes. I know there are some talented fakers out there, so that would not surprise me. I know over time, especially if not stored properly, the a fragrance can change colour... but this stuff hasn't even been out for 10 years! Maybe the person had it in direct sunline 24/7?

I bought a bottle last Fall at a very reasonable (read: not retail) price, from an airport of all places. At first I loved it, I have received compliments for it - it's really rare so nobody else has it - but don't personally really care for it anymore. The drydown is too musky, and it's like a different animal compared to the opening. Purely as a fragrance it is masterfully crafted, though - there's an easily distinguishable lineup of a multitude of different notes one after the other.
