Oud Wood

One of the greatest scents ever created in human history Theres something so special about this fragrance, when you sniff it you are mentally transported to a different place. All the notes meld together to form a scent that is beyond words, mature yet playful and rich yet wearable. This was created in 2008 and it feels timeless, you can sniff this 20 years from now and it will be considered just as great. When you first spray you get the amazing cardamom, one of the most photorealistic and rich versions I’ve smelled. Pink pepper adds interest and a bit of “fizz”, in the background creamy sandalwood, floral rosewood and dark semi-medicinal oud add structure & power. Vetiver adds an earthy edge and the whole fragrance is enveloped with a medium anount of amber. Vanilla and tonka in the background make it a little sweet and more paletable to the public. In the drydown vanilla and sandalwood come more forward leading to a very creamy finish. It lasts about 7-8 hours and projects for the first 2-3, by no means a weak fragrance but not strong either. Don’t obsess over preformance, you will never enjoy fragrance collecting if you do. Just put some in a travel atomizer and spray on the go, simple. I paid $370 for this 100ml fragrance which is an amazing deal ($580 originally) thank you to Perfumeonline for the great price and service. For the money this is a decent value, Tom Ford makes fragrances that you will not get anywhere else, the clones are just not comparable. I got Versace Oud Noir that smells like Oud Wood but I can easily tell apart the nuances and quality overall, OW is just much richer, creamier, more complex and just better. If you are on the fence about this fragrance I would get it, it’s so iconic for a reason. The nose who created this made history, they made something entirely new and beautiful.

Today was a special day. My mom had a sample of Oud Wood by Tom Ford. That is a shocker in itself, and knowing my mother, you would agree. I had to have given it to her years ago, or she was given as a free sample during some type of holiday sale. Nonetheless, she gave it to me and I decided to wear it after lunch today. And I forgot how great great great Tom Ford used to be. 2007 Tom Ford. In his manifesto, he even said his private collection are for those people who are true connoisseurs of art in fragrance. And it shows. This fragrance is fantastic. Seductive, elegant, thought provoking, all of that. You can tell it was edited by his nose and his alone. I think that's what made this collection so successful. It feels like you are wearing a custom design by Tom Ford himself. Not one thing has been overlooked. And you know it, so you can rest easy knowing that there is not one thing out of place. You are as sexy as you can possibly be. Certified by Tom Ford himself. This is also a great introductory fragrance to oud. When I was younger, I thought this was what it would smell like all the time! Not knowing what else was out there, including Middle Eastern style. That was a rude awakening for sure! Lol. It was so nice going down memory lane today. This is also a reason I say hold onto your samples. You never know what you are going to want 10 years from now. And it is a joyful moment to have. A spontaneous moment to share. These moments only happen when they are with fantastic fragrances that stand the test of time. A true work of art indeed, perhaps even a masterpiece.

The hype is warranted. Tom Ford's Oud Wood is a masterpiece. It smells fresh. It smells sweet. It smells floral. It smells woody. It smells masculine. It smells rich. It's truly a fragrance meant to convey wealth, power, and sex. In terms of notes, I get a woody fragrance through and through with a pronounced sweet saffron/cardamom note and just the faintest hint of vanilla, tonka, and amber to round everything out. The scent is a bit thick, but other than that, there is no reason why most people around you would not appreciate this scent floating in the air. It smells classy while also smelling completely modern and alluring. That's an impressive feat, and the performance is actually really good for people who care about that type of stuff. I don't. I just like fragrances that smell good. However, if you want a fragrance that will stick around for a while, this one can do that. There is nothing about the composition I would change other than making it slightly more airy, but that's only because I like EDT concentrations for their transparent quality. If you want something classy? This does it. If you want something sexy? This does that too. You could also dress this one down, but it definitely leans more formal or for special occasions. Even though it's a beautiful scent you could pull off everyday, it begs to be the bad boy you pull out when you really want to make a statement with your fragrance. Overall Score: 10/10 Masterpiece. Anyone who is serious about fragrance needs to have this one in their collection.

Anything with cardamom and vetiver is a 100% banger in my book. It really should be called "pepper wood" or "wood spice", but oud wood indeed does roll off the tongue well. The sichuan and subtle sweetness just itches my brain like no other. I honestly prefer the "fake" oud, I think its more unique and does give off a bleached clean smell that is highly addictive. Very funky-clean I think it’s also a fantastic rainy day scent if that makes sense, I think it shines the best on a cool rainy day. I will wear this all year long, I don’t care. This is the only thing I own that I would repurchase, but maybe the parfum 9.5/10 masterpiece edit: I got a Switzerland batch 3.3oz for 189USD (Joma 2024 holiday sale) and I would do it again. please tell me most are not buying retail prices or even worse; making reviews heavily factoring in retail price. If you're complaining about retail prices first get your money up and second maybe not buy from there?! What happened to this!!!????? Cmon Estee Lauder. You should be ashamed of yourselves. This was one of my first loves form the TF line, this, Tuscan Leather and Italian Cypress.. This is not even close to that fragrance I bought all those years ago. This is just a cardamon and sichuan pepper bomb. There is no roundness, depth, warmth, no performance, NADA!!! Non of that charm and complexity we all loved in what seems like, a very long time ago. Basically, the entire TF private line has gone to shit. The originals anyway. Dont get me started on what happened to Noir de Noir and Tuscan Leather. Ill lose my shit. No one was a bigger fan of those than me. Now.... I have completely gone off TF. His new releases are a joke. What are they? They have no purpose. No direction. Just flavours in a bottle. Only saving graces are White Suede and Ombre Leather which has clearly superseded Tuscan Leather. Almond > Cherry > Peach. WTF????? Really. Get it together over there. Cheap and tacy perfumery at its worst. Especially from a powerhouse like TF. I hope someone at Estee Lauder reads this and reads it good. I'm sure I speak for thousands of TF enthusiasts out there on how disappointed and jaded they all are regarding TF these days; EL and TF are losing lots of love and $$$ and won't be getting any back. Especially from me, a life long and loyal consumer of TF.....but not anymore.

It's a masterpiece, one of the greatest fragrances of all time. The beauty of it is that younger tiktok fragheads cannot appreciate the mastery of oud wood(which was the first perfume to essentially introduce us to oud on a mainstream level) so you won't find d-bags blaring this out and ruining its reputation. On to the perfume itself, the first spray and 2-3 seconds is harsh, like someone sprayed acid on a tree bark, but what follows is a mysterious resinious smoky aroma with a slight sweet undertone. Its projects really well for me for the first 4 hours, and i get intoxicating whiffs of the smoky wood or the slightly sweet Spicy note ,here and there for the rest of day which is a real treat. This scent is loud yet silent, this scent is extremely versatile can truly fit anyone, is for powerful and brash people who know how to get things done as well as for intelligent yet mysterious wizard types and its also quite fitting on a serious type of woman, i would say. If you wear this scent, people will know you are serious about your business, or know nothing about you at all. People complaining about the formula not being the same are the ones buying it online to save 10-15 £/$, where they get the crappy batches. Go to a department store or tom ford itself and get it from there, its worth the damn extra 10 dollars

Is it overpriced? Yes. Is it beautiful? Yes. Sublime. I doubt there's any Oud in this, but this is really a brilliantly executed dark and spicy Oriental woody fragrance. I don't find the opening harsh, just Cardamom heavy. It gradually dries down into a slightly smoky, velvety woods with some Cypriol-like peppery musk that gives it the Oud-esque character. However, performance is not great on my skin, and it dries down to a skin scent for me in a couple hours. It may just be easy to go nose-blind to this scent with the heavy dose of synthetic materials that TF is notorious for using. Having said that, I don't find the fragrance harsh or synthetic in any way, it smells remarkably natural for what it is. I wanted this fragrance for years, I sampled it countless times during layovers in the duty free shops, but I never pulled the trigger due to the price tag. My GF bought it for me as a surprise birthday gift when she was traveling, and for that reason I have a sentimental attachment to this fragrance. If you really love Oud, there are many cheaper Middle Eastern options that do a better job of capturing Oud, however screechy some of them are. And of course Oud Attars are not prohibitively expensive, in fact much cheaper than buying this bottle.

Tom Fords Oud Wood smells less like a matured Agarwood, & less like an Oud essential oil, & more like the actual "Fungal Infection" itself. Oud Wood doesnt smell Middle Eastern. It smells of Tom Ford style perfumery. .... focusing on an accord of pure Fungus, with subtle woody notes that are made sexy with the addition of Cardamom, Pink Pepper, Sichuan Pepper, Tonka Bean, Vanilla, & Amber. The O.G Reviewers are right, theres no "Oud" in this fragrance. Theres only Agarwood in this fragrance. Oud is an essential oil made from Agarwood that can have either of its many nuances enhanced in varying degrees by other perfume notes. Notes like Jasmine, Cypriol, & many others. Tom Fords Oud Wood isnt mean to smell like Oud. Its meant to smell like the "Fungal Infection" that creates the Agarwood.

I cant take the weak performance complaints any more.. this has become completely ridiculous. People expect it to choke everyone around for hours on end when in reality its supposed to be a close to the skin scent for a classy person who doesn't even WANT to project. This bullshit about batches is a complete myth. It lasts many hours and stays in the room when there is no immediate air circulation. People will smell you if not from arms length, then definitely when you lean over their shoulder to show them something on a computer screen. Make sure you apply it on a clean skin after shower and not while running sweaty sniffing testers in a perfume store. Right now i can still smell what i had applied 16 hours ago, 2022 batch if you must know. So dont be an idiot like 90% of commenters, get it, wear it in good health and taste, dont try to project it, it WILL last on your skin and clothes and if nobody compliments you on it it doesn’t mean they dont think about it later at home. 10/10, not for cheap fucks

The older I get the more I appreciate and understand it. This is not a loud screamer, it’s a silent luxury smart whisper. A scent for you, not to fill the room and impress others. And what an incredible scent. Sensual, warm, comforting. I simply love it. Woody, vanilla, santal, vetiver and a touch of oud but not the dirty one. It is more of a support to lift the scent to another level. I am more of a chinos and shirt type of guy. In winter i love a cashmere sweater. This scent suits my style perfectly in my opinion. You do not need to be a suit wearing guy for this. However be of a certain age or mature level to rock this. Wear it with presence and confidence. Unlike what others might say, i think longevity is great, with a soft projection. Nothing too aggressive but lasts a good 10-12 hours. Recently I have been layering it with the OW hand and body moisturizer. On wool sweaters it stays forever.

Suggestion: Can we, as the world biggest fragrance community, step up and visit ifra or Tom ford? Or maybe both:p? And ask them politely to bring back all the good stuff like; Tobacco oud, tobacco oud intense, oud wood intense, plum japonais etc.... And also make all the private blend stronger like the used to be! Because it hasn’t been that long ago (2018/2019) that I sprayed oud wood and it lasted about a week on my clothing. And of course I’m not even talking about the first batches (2007/2014), those were like spraying pure perfume oil:p. Or the first time I sprayed Tuscan leather, never forget it had a sillage round 18 hours..... I really miss those moments... Ps.... Of course I would like to see this for more brands and perfumes like Gaultier2, Dior homme intense, Dior homme parfum, bvlgari pour homme etc.....

Another fragrance that I judged too quickly due to it's fame. I need to stop doing that. First time I smelled this I was expecting to be blown away. I was not. On paper it was kinda flat, just woody and not really interesting. Especially since at that time I was obsessed with the overly sweet offerings such as Lost Cherry, Angel's Share and Layton. Stuff you can find in a mall. So I ignored this one for quite some time. Just yesterday, my uncle gave me samples of Oud Wood and Azure Lime (funnily enough I love Azure Lime so that was cool.) because he wasn't a fan of either. I wore Oud Wood last night and was surprised. This stuff is sweet! It's actually really nice and the vanilla isn't too immature. I think this would be great to use for layering. Thumbs Up. Lasts long enough, just wish it reached a bit further.

The opening is smooth woody oud, very soft and clean. From the first spray it just smells sexy in a calm way, not loud. I don’t really see anything that smells like it. I tried alternatives from Nishane, Thameen. Nothing really matches this DNA. Performance is the weak point. Longevity and sillage are both on the lighter side. No real issue with the smell itself. The problem is just the performance. The scent is beautiful, soft, and very easy to wear. That’s also why it works all the time. I’d recommend it if you want something clean, elegant, and easy for daily use. You can wear it anywhere, even in summer. Just don’t expect strong performance, you’ll need more sprays or reapply. Tom Ford Oud Wood reminds me of a Dubai evening, on a high rise building with a light breeze and a cold drink in hand. It screams elegance and sophistication. A fantastic date night fragrance. The Oud starts off strong with this one, but it dries down to reveal a perfect cozy balance of wood and oud. Unfortunately though, it isn't the most long-lasting fragrance for an oud fragrance and for me only gets about 5-6 hours of wear. I also feel that this, along with all of the Tom Ford Private Line fragrances are WAY overpriced. 50ml for this price is not good. I'd always recommend being particular with which Private Line Tom Ford's you purchase because of this Lastly, For me Oud Wood is primarily a night-time scent, but i do think that it is possible to wear during the day but perhaps with 2-3 sprays only.

Damn... I genuinely love this fragrance, but the performance is a major letdown. The scent itself is flawless, easily a 10/10, but everything beyond that falls short. Longevity is weak, projection is minimal, and the overall sillage is barely noticeable. I’m not expecting Oud Wood to be beast-mode, but at this price point, moderate performance should be the baseline. Ideally, I’d be happy with a subtle, hand-span projection and the option to reapply later. Instead, I find myself needing an excessive number of sprays, a la “Curly Fragrance,” just to create a decent scent bubble, which feels unreasonable given how expensive it is. In short, Oud Wood smells incredible, but its poor performance seriously undermines the experience. Smell: 10/10 Performance: 4/10 Longevity: 4/10 Sillage: Negligible

In my top 3 of all time and one of the classiest men's scents in existence. Because of the weak overall performance, I have tried similar perfumes like Carved Oud and Kredo but they just lack that right balance that makes Oud Wood what it is. Woody Oud probably gets closest in terms of clones but it still lacks the refinement of the original. So to remedy the performance issues of Oud Wood I have decided to take the advice of the bowtie fragrance guy and purchase the Oud Wood body lotion and body spray to add to the overall performance of the perfume. Had it been any other perfume I would have given up, but Oud Wood is oud good. If you know, you know.

I had the chance to spend a week with Tom Ford Oud Wood, and I have to say, it was a bit of a disappointment. I thought I'd be absolutely head-over-heels, but it turns out it was just a crush. On my skin, it just felt a little too creamy—not powdery, but almost like a marshmallowy vanilla. I was really hoping for that classic, spicy oud to take center stage and linger, but it got lost in all the sweetness. While it’s not a bad scent by any means, it just wasn't the Oud Wood I had hoped for. Update 2 months later: He's actually grown on me and I'm keeping him. I've been layering this with TF Rose Prick and oh...so good.

Çok şık ve karizmatik bir koku kesinlikle, odunsuluğun getirdiği maskülenlik öyle güzel yumuşatılmış ki hayran kalıyorsunuz.

I got a bottle a while ago, but I have been wearing it more frequently over the past few weeks. To me, this scent is perfect for the holidays. It's linear, but complex and multifaceted enough to smell something a bit different each time you wear it. The woods are rich and deep, but there is also a gourmand quality that may come from the combination of vanilla and spices. Some people may find the sillage unimpressive, but I think part of the charm of this fragrance comes from its relative closeness to the skin, which gives it a cozy, intimate quality. It's popular for a reason.

Tom Ford is my favorite fragrance house. I either LOVE a scent from him or I hate it, I can't think of one that was middle of the road for me. Oud Wood is by far my favorite Tom ford Fragrance and a lifelong scent for me. It is spicy, wood, warm; perfect for fall and winter. You can't help but to keep smelling it. The price point, even discounted, is kinda steep for the performance though. It stays close to the skin.I had to let my 100ml macerate for a bit before I got the FULL experience. This is a 9/10 for me, would be a 10 with a lower price point and better performance.

Woody, earthy and spicy with a standard amber vanilla dry down. Still a great scent and yes the projection is not there but longevity wise you can get 7-8 hours from it easily. Not every scent has to be a monster compliment magnet. Just ask someone else to smell your arm to test the longevity of something rather than going anosmic yourself. Wear this for occasions with your partner or in the office. Price wise though, I can definitely see it is overpriced so wait for online discounts etc. Do not buy any TF from eBay depop vinted etc unless you like being scammed lol

Have been wearing this for a number of years And always come back to it. Always smells great from initial spray to the final throes. Has a nice soapy edge to it, lasts an average 6 hours for me before a reapplication, which is no great shakes since adding the 10 ml travel spray to my collection (it’s refillable) makes that nice and easy without having to carry about a bottle. These are good value if you buy it via a gift set. Just need to drop some big cash on a 250ml decanter and acquire that nice 50ml refillable sprayer to complete the line up!!!

Seriously I dont get the hate , its expensive but so good . I dont think its unisex its definitly masculine but I love it so much I wear it even though Im a woman . Its like those ceo fanfics that are mysterious and badass . Maybe its a bit cringe but it smells sooo good . Definitly smelling all the woods but suprisingly i cant really smell the vanilla or maybe its not a sweet vanilla , the cardmom slaps at first , its a cold but not a very fresh vibe , four season for sure . Even though i love it I cant justifiy the price , gonna buy a rip off

Oh my, with all due respect, I can't help but think that people who say this smells sharp and medicinal haven't smelled many oud perfumes. Tom Ford's is velvety smooth, probably the least medicinal of the ouds I've encountered. It's a soft, creamy oud, heavy on amber, and sweetened with a bit of vanilla. What drives me bonkers about Oud Wood is the use of cardamom. How did Tom Ford know that cardamom is my weakness, lol?! This perfume is mysterious and beautiful on me, but I would really enjoy the smell of Oud Wood on a sexy man as well!

I previously commented on Oud Wood's suitability for professional wear. I described it as a pleasant, risk-free, and uncomplicated scent profile. Wear more often this perfume makes me realize how unfair it was. I've had the early fragrances from Tom Ford's Private Blend series in my collection for a long time, but I haven't worn them much. Oud Wood is one of them. Wearing this perfume, I can say it's at the pinnacle of gentlemanly masculinity. At least among the perfumes I would categorize as such, it's become my favorite.

I just love this fragrance. To me this screams masculinity. The way the woods, spices, vanilla, and amber notes blends is amazing. I will definitely buy again. Some people say it doesn't last but I get around 8hrs. I do stay hydrated and moisture prior to applying my fragrances. It is a linear scent which some people are not fond of but it is a very good scent so I am pleased with it. It may be an Unc sent but I do fit the bill. Greatly elegant, perfect for colder weather, if it were to be a clothing piece, it would be a suit. The most woody fragrance I have tried, and one of my personal favourites in general. Strong and full of character, but in the most comforting, alluring way. My muse. It makes me want to write poetry. It's art, it's a symphony, it's refinement and sophistication in perfume form. It's warm but freezing, it's spicy, it's unique. It's a forest poured into bottle. It's the Cello of perfumes. It's Dostoyevsky of fragrance.

when i first got this i kind of hated it to be honest, it had a synthetic opening but admittedly, as ridiculous as it may sound, after living with it i got the appeal completely. a very masculine smell and a natural foil/parallel to noir extreme in a way, it has the scent of a man on his own, doing what he does in life with solid steps forward no matter the uncertainty. a modern charisma. try to get those little tester tubes and live with them a bit before buyin'. 9.3/10

This one got me into really loving fragrances and I respect it very much though after all these years there are better options out there. TF house has messed the formulation of EDP and has given us the Parfum version to splurge more money on it :). I think any guy should have this one and enjoy using it for sometime because it actually is unique if you're new to fragrances and particularly if you're new to Oud but you'll have to move on from it later on.

I don't want to be a Tom Ford fan, but somehow all of his perfumes just work really fantastic with my skin, and this is no exception. I must agree with catirose that at first it smells like a tree, but then again - perhaps not super shocking considering that the name hints at wood. The dry down though, is creamy, lightly sweet, with a dash of lovely cardamom and just a faint touch of oud. It's clean, it's gorgeous, it's versatile. It's a winner.

so obviously as others have stated this doesn’t last all day. however, it does last longer than people give it credit for and really there’s not much else like it on the market. it’s versatile and can work in any situation due to the more muted projection, and keeps a decent bit of longevity. will not last you all day but still worth a pickup on a discounter in my opinion due to the scent being awesome

I understand if you don't like Tom Ford. Elitist companies are a little bit gross in a world where most people are poor. But this is a fragrance forum. And this is a good fragrance. Perfect for the office or for any occasion where smelling nice is a good thing. If you buy this for me I will be your new boyfriend. Unless my girlfriend says I can’t sell myself for a perfume. She’s mean.

This is a decent oriental/woody. It resembles Dolce and Gabbana's The One. There is oud in this and its right off the top. I really like the oud note and wish it hung around longer. After the oud fades, it transitions to amber with a slight powdery accord. It isn't overly woody. Something in it comes across a little synthetic. Overall, I like it, particularly in the cooler months.

Got this as a sample with my Sephora order and have been holding on to this tiny sample for as long as possible. I was scared of oud for a long time because it can smell harsh or medicinal. But this is beautiful. It’s smooth and polite. My only real issue is the cost. I just can't justify the price tag when it completely vanishes from my skin after three hours.

A useful tip; get the new 250 ml TF OW Hand and Body Moisturizer in the pump bottle and use the EdP on top of it. You will use much less of the EdP and the scent will last and project for hours and hours. It makes a huge difference. Oud Wood is one of my all time favorite during winter season and I discovered this combo recently. Worth investing.

I love this scent and it has been my signature scent for 2 years. Recently i order nordic harmony from sentir perfume and i was impressed. It is surely a dupe but has more longevity for a fraction of the price. I keep buying original but i also try all kind of houses. If you can grab nordic harmony i guarantee you, you won't be disappointed.

This is a clean woody airy oud not you typical dirty tree scent this is creamy and sophisticated and sexy smells like a clean Forrest in a vanilla slight spiced edge to it very Versatile and easy to wear sadly it’s expensive and has a intimate village and small scent trial I get 4 hours minimum and skin scent for 6 wish it lasted longer 9/10

Really masculine dark wood smell. I know what oud smells like and I detect little to no oud here (at least the skanky kind). Has subtle sweetness to keep the mass-appeal. This is a sophisticated CEO or wannabe CEO type of scent that doesn't take much time to appreciate. PS I think some reviewers post AI reviews for attention

very well crafted fragrance, classic, definitely smooth and the notes blend and project far, as well as the longevity being 1-2 days on me. However, you need to be old to pull if off, for some the notes wont be good and if you want to smell even better, ombre leather. 8/10, would absolutely recommend. blind buy proof? YES

A leader and an outstanding fragrance of that DNA. Oud wood is an iconic fragrance. A smell that screams richness and excellency. The only bad thing about this great scent is the performance, a very bad performance. There are some wonderful alternatives like Thameen Carved Oud and Nishane Kredo. 10/10

Review No2. This EDP never stops impress me. I feel that there is something subtle aromatic green element. Maybe it's the combination of cardamom, vetiver and brazilian rosewood. Who knows? I can even use this in not so warm summer nights. Such an amazing perfume for men.

I **** love this cologne this is definitely a signature sent for me, something that I'll wear on special occasions but try to get it in as much as possible on daily use. I really do love the projection I love the scent I love the powder the musk it it's it's really good.

What a legendary piece of perfumery this (still) is..Performance might be lacking but the way this smells (masculine and deep but also bright and creamy with the exact right amount of sweetness). It works every time I put it on and makes me feel like a million bucks.

A lighter, fresher Oud Wood Intense. Its fantastic and is more versatile, and not to mention much cheaper, than Intense. It can be worn day or night in any season. Its a beautiful light, woody fragrance which puts you in a nice scent bubble for about 6 hours. 8.5/10

Sandalwood and cardamom take centre stage. There’s a hint of oud too, but it remains in the background. It’s a creamy, comforting scent that I think is perfect for unwinding. It would have been spot on for my taste if the mood had been a little darker. 8/10

delicious. probably not the cardamom perfume i'm looking for, but this will definitely be my oud perfume for a good long while. (the cardamom is definitely very present! but it leans sweet rather than the nutty herby scent i'm looking for.)

Scent is amazing! Sillage and Projection is not beastmode but this surprisingly lasted a long time on my skin (For about 8 hours now) and I still get whiffs of it here and there. Got it from a discounter too, really worth the price for me.
