Rose Exposed

Rose Exposed is basically a re-issue of Rose De Russie, which was quickly discontinued because of the invasion of Ukraine (the naming was unfortunate in hindsight), from the previous Rose line that also included Rose De Chine (has since been officially chopped) and Rose D’Amalfi (being shelved for potential limited release or distribution soon, if not discontinuation according to my agent). Exposed is formulated in the similar vein to De Russie, so much so that those who never had the chance to try De Russie could try this and have an idea on what its predecessor was all about. It’s a spicy, pepper-forward leather tinted with rose water that never really recedes despite the obtuseness of the Cuir note. It dries down with a powdery sweetness, almost creamy along the fringes, never truly usurping the biting leather but gives the illusion of tender fraying along the edges. For those who had smelled De Russie or enjoyed it more, the major difference is that subtle creamy note probably from the sandalwood and musk. De Russie on me has some sweetness but it’s an almost tart, fruity nuance than the smooth one in Exposed. I get why that could be a dealbreaker for those who liked the way the leather sears in the air. I kinda see how Exposed was softened in a similar way as Cafe Rose 2023 had been watered down with a floral sheerness that stood in contrast to the 2012 original’s dried, paste-like floral core. The difference is, Cafe seems to be going strong sales-wise moving away from cardamom-coffee-incense, while sweetening Exposed seemed to have been to its own detriment. I like Exposed enough to buy a bottle, maybe even stock up an additional one since I’m sure this one is getting discontinued before the year ends. Sales and buzz are low, it hasn’t been upgraded to 100mL, so there’s hardly any reason for it to persist. I wonder if they turned up the rose some more and dialed down the leather or even the reverse would’ve been pleasing enough for the mass market to generate sales despite the reviews. It’s a little sad honestly. When De Russie was axed, everyone was pissed and had so much to say, even if it was divisive out of the gate. They rerelease it and it’s attacked by original fans and hated by those who wanted some sort of floral bomb, sweet suede crowd-pleaser. The formula can’t win, so maybe it’s right to let it wilt away as another TF failure of the 20s. That being said, a little disappointed that not one rose from the rose trio is here to stick around any longer. I wouldn’t have thought that Rose De Chine, let alone the crowd-pleasing Rose D’Amalfi would eventually meet their end (My agent got word that they weren’t getting new shipments of either). They always seemed very likable and approachable. To think that the Cherry Trio still stands unscathed feels so weird. The Rose Trio was distinct and really tried to be something else, every rose was as different as their tandem notes were, while the Cherries smelled so redundant in their principal note. The collection was experimental enough for what they were and I’m glad I still have them all. Saving up for bigger bottles on the secondary market for sure.

Long time lurker, first time review. I've taken so much from everyone here, I now feel obligated to start feeding the beast instead of just taking...and this fragrance inspired me to do just that. Doing some Christmas shopping at a luxury department store in my area (more window shopping than anything as I only went for the fragrance floor) and did my obligatory stop at the Tom Ford counter. Was chatting away, having my horizons for what a man can pull off by one of the fragrance experts; things like Lost Cherry, which I would have never entertained trying based on name and bottle colour. Was encouraged to try Rose Exposed. On the card, I was surprised as just how masculine it leaned. Not in your typical ways, but clearly something a well dressed man could totally pull off. Asked to try on my skin and gave myself a couple sprays (purposely went fragrance free for just this purpose) and went about my day. I was stopped several times, sometimes a store.employee helping me, one another man that actually followed me for a bit just to ask, and another woman while I sat and waited for my wife to try on jeans. Clearly it was working for my chemistry and also decent projection and sillage. As for my thoughts, I kept coming back to sniffing it on my wrist and liked more with every sniff. The dry down is gorgeous and both my wife and daughter came around, not liking the opening but commenting later it the car it was working for me. As a further endorsement, and against my better judgement, I ordered a bottle. Pricey to be sure. However, this fragrance has been pretty much lambasted here, and even the Tom Ford employee acknowledged that it wasn't moving as expected. This one is ripe for a cancellation if it's fortunes do not turn around, and I wanted to ensure I had a bottle before it's cancelled and becomes yet another TF fragrance only truly appreciated after it's no longer available. As for notes: despite the name and notes listed above, rose is not the dominant scent. It's definitely there, but leather is the most prominent with the rose being complimentary.

I recently went to Sephora to try out Tom Ford perfumes and found this iconic gem. The moment I sprayed it on paper I instantly fell in love and bought it! Now that I wear it on clothes under arms I can say that this perfume is certainly a beast! I usually do 4 sprays with any perfume and with this, the perfume not only radiates to fill the room but it also lingers for 12+ hours. It is most noticeable when you move your body! The notes are a gorgeous rose-spices-woods together. In the dry drown I sometimes smell Olibanum clearly. It is great value for money compared to all other Tom Ford perfumes and is one of the best ones for sure!! As a man I have noticed women coming close to check which perfume this is as well as give me compliments.. This perfume has a strongly middle eastern vibe to it so as I pass through, I also see really pleasured faces from those that are middle eastern looking too! Tom Ford, you really put in a great perfume that is not only entrancing but also sophisticated and value for money! I feel spell bound every time I spray Rose Exposed!!! I greatly wish they do amazing in sales and that they at least release a 100 ml version of this fragrance too.. Price-Value 10/10 Fragrance 10/10 Performance 10/10

Before I start, I have to clarify that one of my most loved perfumes is Dark Lord by Kilian. After Dark Lord and Kingdom by the late McQueen nothing can scare me!😆 Because of the negative reviews I was one thought closer to give it away without even trying it but my curiosity won and I am so happy I did keep it! To me, personally, this one belongs to the younger vampire who wants to steal his master’ vial of seductive scent but wasn’t brave enough and picked up what is left in the grand closet. It’s a masterpiece. I don’t own anything like it and honestly I am happy it’s hated because I’ll have more of it lol Try it with open mind, not in the store, not on a piece of paper. Find a sample and try it at night when all is quiet and calm. The soft leather, a rose after the rain, I have no words to describe this beauty. I can only say that I am in love ☺️

Growing up in the 80's, us kids used to sit downstairs in my Grandmother's apartment and watch her and my Uncle chainsmoke, drink tequila and play poker until bed time. They were both total badasses and (for better or worse) shaped my formative years. My first cigarette was at age 10, my first real drink at 12. Rose Exposed has immediately brought me back to this time, so much so that I'm almost in tears. At first, the sweet leather ashtray hits, then you start to smell the rose around the edges, and finally at the dry-down, this beautiful rose emerges. It is a classic rose but I do get a tinge of "a freshly bloomed rose in the morning dew" which then morphed into a spicy treat. I love this, and if you also have memories of growing up during this time-I guarantee you it will immediately transport you.

Super masculine, leather fronted rose. This stuff is just gorgous! Opens with a slightly spicy and aromatic rose with the leather taking a back seat, but as it progresses, the leather gets more prominent and the rose fades into the background but never quite disappears. Sillage is moderate, but it's the longevity of this stuff that really impressed me - I put it on around lunch time and it lasted all afternoon, through my evening gym class and I could even faintly smell it on myself after I showered once arriving home. Really impressed and elated I decided to blind buy a bottle of this stuff.

y’all call this MASCULINE??? are you out of your minds? okay, I know scent is subjective, but... maybe you should keep at peace with your target perfumes and not bother. summary: solid MATURE rose. one of the actual ‘sexy’ roses I’ve smelled in my entire life. also smells extremely luxurious, no other word does it such justice. the saying goes, every rose has its torn. many roses in perfume lack that. this has the thorns too. if you don’t like that, maybe keep sniffing on a fresh period pad. that’ll be the rose you like.

Just an initial judgement on spraying my wrist when testing a few fragrances over Christmas. This really surprised me with it's spicy opening and soft rose undertones. After half an hour or so this was a leathery rose scent that I really enjoyed. Definitely more masculine leaning but there is a slight creamy and powdery touch keeping it balanced, for me at least. Definitely one of the more interesting from TF and I really love it and will look to buy soon.

Very nice, polite, a tender, soft somewhat green clearly virgin rose. Smells like literal wild roses and for anyone who likes rose a safe blind buy. Maybe a safe blind buy in general. Not sure this is a good thing, its as mass appealing and inoffensive as a rose scent can be. Edit: I bought a fb, its very pleasant. and a decant of rose de russie, which is not a watered down version to me nose but identical (except clearly older)

Wow, wow, just wow. Tom Ford Rose Exposed is pure luxury in a bottle. The scent is all about leather so rich, smooth and bold. It wraps you in an aura of luxury, making you want to inhale more and more with every breath. The leather is deep and sensual, creating a powerful yet refined fragrance that lingers on the skin with an addictive warmth. So seductive yet classy. I’m completely in love with this fragrance ❤️🔥

I smelled this at a Sephora and it seemed kind of bitter. Not in a leafy green kind of way, more of a suede-y, leathery way. Not like Dyptique Philosykos. This is not a “stems, leaves, and all” type of rose. And this is definitely NOT a jammy or sweet rose either. It’s on the opposite end of Delina. Sillage is mild. I don’t really smell it unless my nose is an inch away from my wrist.

Although I was hesitant to try it after recent letdowns like Café Rose and Vanilla Sex, I was pleasantly surprised. The opening felt a bit harsh and unbalanced, but the dry down is absolutely masterful. You can't deny how well Tom Ford nails the leather note. The rose is fresh and green, with a touch of orange blossom adding complexity. Now I just need to figure out where to wear it.

powdery, peppery, masculine, im a woman & love the bottle but upon sniffing its for men for sure. i would definitely date a man who’s wearing this. it smells expensive, its a good one. not complicated like u might think. its different from most men’s fragrances in the best way. she definitely wont be reminded of her ex if u wear this, her ex cant afford this. haha

I love this fragrance, opening is very mature and kinda gives off rich grandpa vibes, but the dry down is very nice and elegant, perfect rose fragrance that doesn't smell awfully sweet and nauseating. This fragrance is very dependent on personal preference and can totally see why one wouldn't enjoy it. Personally, for me, this is one of my favorites.

Lemony rose. Not powdery or grandma-y. Men can wear, in a spritz or two but don't go overboard. It's strong initially, but calms down to a nice warm rose. Lasts a couple of hours. And, like all TF/Gucci very overpriced. Conceptually, it wants to be Luce di Rosa by Aqua di Parma-an incredible scent without a hint of grandma's powder. Sorry, grandma.

If the rating on this stays super low, the price probably drops at discounters, right? So I'm definitely NOT saying that this is an incredible, rich, intoxicating rose/leather scent, and I'm NOT saying that when I finish the 12 mL of samples I scrounged off of eBay, I'm gonna be forced to buy an actual bottle bc wow. Nope. Not saying that.

I must be the minority here. I love it. It smells luxurious and I got it for a special price at the airport, without trying, it was a good blind buy. For me it’s a spicy rose, but I also get a lot of green which is not mentioned but thankfully it fades away. Lasts a long time, I could smell it even after hours being outside

Straightforward, high quality peppery rose scent. You either love it or hate it. But people have been complimenting it on me, even after almost a full day of wearing it. Means the performance is not an issue for Rose Exposed. Don’t judge it based on the reviews. Just try it yourself and you’ll probably appreciate it.

Another rose that does not lean on feminine side. Love the peppery opening, but love it more, in the mid, when all the notes shows up. Rose note has green facet, while leather note combined with olibanum makes a well balanced sweet leathery base note. Longivity and sillage is good. Love it a lot.

Green and peppery rose straight from the garden, still wet with morning dew. Fresh and unisex. This is a rosy-fresh leather fragrance for those who love Killian’s Roses on Ice. If RoI is the white swan Odette, Rose exposed is your black swan Odille. Wearable from day to night.

Deliciously intoxicating spicy rose. A sharp, peppery rose who refuses to blend into the scene. She IS the scene & has no qualms about it. Modesty is wholly absent from her zesty DNA. Re-branding herself to detach from an abhorrent association, she re-ups grandly w/ gusto.

Rose de Russie by TF was launched in 2022 which is the same year Russia invaded Ukraine unfortunately, so TF renamed it recently to Rose Exposed. Thank God they kept the leather accord in it 😌 unlike Dior's new Dior Homme Parfum.

This is very unique Rose and Leather scent it’s unisex but has a masculine feel it’s very strong super long lasting and I don’t say that about a lot of Tom Ford fragrances but Rose Exposed longevity is great 🥀🥀

@natachef Yes, it smells like Gres Cabochard with the overdose of Rose and Leather. It's not a reminiscence of Cabochard it is exactly like Stronger vintage Cabochard in Tomford Bottle.

Have never tried Rose de Russie therefore I cannot make any comparison. Initially I did not like Rose Exposed at all, felt like it smelled overly sharp and dry and basically like dust and dirt. After spending significant time testing this fragrance, I have come to like it. The opening is very beautiful, with one of the freshest prettiest rose water notes I have ever smelled. For a brief moment, it is almost as of taking an entire bath of rose water, then develops a creamy almost custardy gourmand note - like a rose-saffron infused dessert. I wish the fragrance development arrested at this point as it is truly singular. After the first hour of development, the spices and leather are increasingly more at the forefront and the rose and creamy notes are much more subtle. For the rest of the duration of this fragrance, it is more of a dry suede fragrance with prominent pepper. The pepper may be a tad on the aggressive side which limits my enjoyment of it. On clothes, this fragrance lasts quite well . On the skin it lasts well but but by evening it is rather soft - but still perceptible and the cashmeran during fragrance development increasingly muddies the notes as it tends to do. This perfume is consistent with old school Tom Ford aesthetic more so than recent releases, to the point of it taking me by surprise, but coming to find out that it is a re-release of an older fragrance from the Tom Ford private line lineup it makes sense. It is not personally my taste, however, there seems to always be a small audience of people for whom this type of Tom Ford fragrance is sought after. This fragrance is for the people who also enjoyed Accenti, Sahara Noir, and Youth Dew Amber Nude. All discontinued high quality fragrances, their dryness do not suit me and I imagine does not suit a lot of people, as it reads quite vintage in a gourmand dominated world, but are underrated cult classics in their own right that continue to have a tiny but enthusiastic fan base. If you previously enjoyed the aforementioned TF fragrances Rose Exposed may be worth a try.

This is quite nice- I dont get the low reviews? I'm not really into TF in general but This is pleasant, albeit two dimensional and linear. The opening is the most fun, and where the rose really shines. Then the pepper, maybe the most textured part about this whole thing. Leather is there but its more of a backdrop. Its a nice surprisingly natural leather, no headache here. Sandalwood is soothing at the base and balances all the pepper. A compact note profile that actually works pretty well. Cashmeran adds texture, softness at the tail end of the blending. I really like the earthiness and fresh-spicy qualities. Wouldn't say no to a small FB at a good price. All season except sweltering heat. Prob decently priced used, bc of the ratings lol. Pretty unisex. Good sillage and longevity. Not a love but a definite like. Easy to wear, good for most occasions.

It’s an improvement in every way! I'm still deciding how I personally feel about it, slowly growing on me...just not a fan of the peppery opening but once it dries down it’s actually really nice.

I personally love this fragrance and I find it funny how hated it is. It immediately got my attention with the pepper top notes, but I love how while peppery, it isn’t warming. It’s kind of sterile and green which is totally to my taste. Love the bottle design. I actually have a hard time smelling the rose and catch the orange blossom, cashmeran and leather more, but I appreciate that it seems like a tasteful choice to keep the rose to an absolute minimum. Love this fragrance

I tested this briefly in Neiman Marcus today. It seems like an exact dupe of Tom Ford's Rose de Russie, which had the ill fortune to arrive on the market about a week before Russia invaded Ukraine. I didn't spray much but it seemed to last at least 5 hours, at about the same strength as Rose de Russie, which I have. I'm glad they brought this scent back under another name; it's a good rose scent, strong and not traditional or sweet. Not any less expensive though.

Not blind buy worthy, give it a try first. You'll either love it or hate it, no real in-between. If you can't get a hold of it, sample Rose de Russie; smells almost the same (just a lot harsher, Rose Exposed is much more smooth). This is a sister to the classic scent L'Ombre Dans L'Eau by Diptyque and it’s really beautiful. I prefer Diptyque’s version because it is a bit greener and has a slight fruit accord, but this is worth a try if you like a sophisticated rose scent. This one is a bit sexier with more spice in the opening. In typical Tom Ford fashion, it has presence and lasting power.

Rose Exposed by Tom Ford is quite literally Rose De Russie rebottled. Although redundant rose exposed fills a gap for Tom Ford and introduces a spicier floral to the line that at one point didn't exist. Definitely worth a wear but nonetheless nothing ground breaking. Old World roses is the best way I can describe this. Think Victorian fog and roses while you're standing next to a leather horse bridle. Bloodborne for those who are gamers out there. It's something a Vileblood would wear.

Not the typical feminin rose smells. This one smells more like dry petals of rose, with some hints of leather. I find It pleasant. Lasts long but the projection could be better.

Very green. It’s very similar to the faint smell that reaches your nose when you cut a bouquet.

This is Rose de Russie repackaged.

Rose Exposed starts as a very smoky incense rose that’s dirty ‘n’ earthy with a damp cemetery or dark tunnel style petrichor. It billows with sooty black chimney smoke and frankincense incense. The rose in the centre of the swirling smoke is an innocent pink loukhoum style Turkish Delight that’s sweet, peppery, clean and clinical. Rose Exposed is slightly similar to Incense Rose but the latter has a sticky sweet jammy rose with vanilla which isn’t dry. It’s also in a same scent family as Les Sables Roses as it shares a similar dry, metallic smoke and clinical saffron style with a sweet pink Bulgarian rose and extraordinary beastmode quality. It’s here in the dry-down which reminds me of Les Sables Roses, as it loses the black soot from the opening and leaves a dusty dry metallic saffron rose. It’s not so much powdery as it is dusty. Rose Exposed is the strongest creation from Tom Ford and is the quality I’ve been hoping for after many sub-par creations over the past few years. It’s almost akin to Roja Dove’s latest Taif Aoud with its strength of character and aromatic potency. A powerful chimney smoke rose that’s worth exploring.

A bitter rose, which has much more juice from freshly cut stems than petals crushed between fingers. Develops on the skin into a woody-spicy aroma with a rather irritating sour accord of rose and leather, muted but constantly reminding of itself. An interesting scent, but I found it tiring to wear. Like many, I remembered another atypical rose scent Frederic Malle. The provocative title and the bottle color are appropriate.

Tried this one today, humm it’s a spicy floral, the rose is stunning and beautifully captured BUT it’s a little too sharp maybe the pepper notes? If they’d added amber in the base to anchor it and maybe some agarwood, it would’ve been next level!!!! So close to being amazing, but not quite there yet! This also lasts 1h30 tops, for the price? A JOKE!

A more polite version of Rose & Cuir by Malle. I know that Tom Ford marketing is all about being cheeky and sexually explicit, but the only truly shocking part of this fragrance is that their team keeps thinking people will fall for this. Bored, tired... whatever.

Smells like a BDSM Club or BDSM part of a mid-end brothel... Definitely triggered my PTSD

My problem with this perfume isn't necessarily THIS perfume, its Tom Ford's sort of 'signature' DNA. I feel like if you have smelled one, you have smelled them all, and they don't let up on it enough to allow their fragrances to shine individually. They have one or two that I like, but in scents like this one I find myself really annoyed. This isn't rose 'EXPOSED'. Its rose hidden behind their signature woody/leathery musk. Neither this one OR Cafe Rose actually smells like roses to me. Would it kill them to let a rose perfume actually smell like rose instead of pepper/leather/wood/patchouli?

I could say this is awful, because that's how I feel it smells lol HOWEVER, I'll explain why. To me, simple put, it smells like smoked out roses. Like rose incense. . . Im sure its the leather with the pepper AND the OLIBANUM but omg. It smells like smokey rose. This does not smell fresh lol. Frankincense (olibanum) isnt fresh. Now if that's your thing. . . Bravo, but for me, nehh. It reminds me of a female version of a tobacco Cologne, but imstead of tobacco they use incense to make it more feminine. Idk, not my thing. I would also say it's sultry, nighttime-ish, and BOLD. Jewel-NYC

Disappointing release that doesn’t bring anything new or offers high value. Very similar to the politically discontinued Rose De Russie (which itself was a Mehh release and was only famed after the discontinuation). Also, has resemblance to Moschino Toyboy and Fredric Malle Rose & Cuir. TF is following a fast cycle hit or mess strategy with their releases in the private line instead of taking time to produce something that is worthwhile.
