Soleil Blanc

I went out on a mission to find a “refined coconut summer fragrance” for my woman, at her request, since she “trusts my nose”..so after a filter search here on fragrantica, I visited my familiar Tom Ford sales assistant in order to sample both soleil blancs as I already suppose, based on olfactory memory and her preferences on fragrances, that the usual suspect virgin island water is not something she would opt for..so this comparing review is based on single wear on me and take that into account before you decide for yourselves. Also take into account that the testing was done on a 26 degrees Celsius day.. Eau de soleil blanc starts with citrus before transitioning to a coconut creamy white floral fragrance. Soleil blanc on the other hand lacks this citrus, has a beautiful modest almond feeling(maybe the pistachio listed here?) Projection was better on eau de soleil without that meaning that it was not decent from the soleil blanc. I got constant whafs from both my arms throughout the day. I cannot comment on silage of both as it was a single spot spray—single wear but the one I eventually bought for my woman has great silage! Longevity at least 8 hours (on the 8 hour mark I showered) with the soleil blanc persisting on my skin even after showering for what it’s worth. Note here that despite the “eau” in the name of the bottle of one, they are both edp concentrations. I understand that to the average nose out there, and let’s face it, this is the vast majority of your encounters, this fragrance will give the impression of suntan lotion. But to be honest it is not. It is a luxury feeling coconut note, creamy, milky if I may say, almost gourmand, relaxing, dancing beautifully with pistachio especially in the soleil blanc bottle. Main differences between the two? The “sand” feeling (I do not know which note in the perfume emits this vibe but it is certainly there) is to me present in the eau de soleil blanc only and it is absent from the soleil blanc variant. It gives you the impression that you get the smell of thin light brown sand, warmed after being exposed to the sun, on your skin. Another difference is the fact that the citruses are more present throughout the lifespan of the eau de soleil blanc, prominent in the opening and taking a backstage in the drydown.This citrus presence is not easily detectable in the drydown of soleil blanc, which in turn is to me a better blend in total. Masculine or feminine? And in order to address the elephant in the room, are they both more masculine or feminine? Before I write down my opinion, it is interesting to tell you this: when I went to the sales assistant, who knows my preferences rather well by now, from a lot of previous encounters, and asked to sample those fragrances, her first response was “I do not believe this is something you would wear..those two scents might be rather feminine leaning for your taste”. Now before you judge her comment, I personally understand where it comes from, taking into account her preconceived notion about me based on my past purchases and I love that about her because this is truly a personalized and customized service from an employee who loves her job. She also went on to explain that the customer demographic of those two as far as sales go, is mostly women. To be clear fragrances have no genders and I do not judge people by what they like to smell. Based on note breakdown one would guess that maybe the presence of citruses in eau de soleil blanc is something that could make this more “easy” for a man to wear it and that is understandable. Maybe the eau de soleil is the fragrance of the two that men would prefer because of those citruses alone, creating a more airy feeling. For me, the only scenario I would wear any of them would be while on the beach, while on vacation and the one I would opt for believe it or not is the soleil blanc. It is more elegant than its sibling to my nose and if you decide to go down the road of coconut then rock it all the way. I truly believe that this fragrance, on a self assured man, relaxing on the beach, would be spot on and somewhat different from all the usual citrus smelling scents out there. And if you are in your 30s (I am older!) it may attract for you some new encounters because women like this scent! Now smelling this on a man in a dinner restaurant scenario for example, may feel at least to me somewhat out of place. Instead smelling this on a woman, especially in summer, regardless of the scenario makes me think that she is a woman of taste and elegance. Final thoughts: My woman fell in love with it when I bought it for her..She wore it a lot in summer..I loved smelling it on her..I think she smells elegant,sexy,alluring wearing this scent..Her, in a summer dress, warm breeze giving me whafs of this from her, makes me literally craving to go d@wn on her..this scent on her, this creamy almond feeling pistachio, white floral, coconut combination is truly an invisible magnet.. Is it versatile? For a woman yes, for a man maybe not so much. The only scenario I could rock this is while on the beach and I may even enjoy it like Virgin Island Water, the fragrance I usually opt for when I am on summer vacation. But by now the smell of soleil blanc to my mind is already an olfactory representation of her, elegantly dressed in white, in the summer night, smiling at me with her black piercing eyes.. Is it year round? No..except if one wants to take an olfactory trip while at home, during a winter day, anticipating summer holidays perhaps? Is it signature worthy?No..even for a woman I cannot picture this as a signature everyday scent..I truly don’t know why.. Is it worth the price asked? Eventually it is not a versatile all year round fragrance and under this scope for some it may not worth the price. But for the scenarios that this fragrance fits, the quality of this scent for me justifies the price. Trust only your nose..it was a single wear for me, but I experienced it enough on my significant half throughout last summer.. Smell nice and smile!!

Time for a confession of a dirty little guilty pleasure of mine: I like coconut sun tan lotion fragrances. There I said it out loud! - Oh the relief of not having to live in quiet shame any longer, but rather public shame instead! However, Soleil Blanc isn’t actually coconut sun tan lotion, it’s a tuberose sun tan lotion - but I hold, even with my perverted bias, that this is a very good one. The opening is striking and beautiful, an unexpected mix of spices in the form of waxy fruity and piquant peppercorns, cool and woody cardamom, zesty and effervescent bergamot, and an unctuous yet metallic sheen from heliotrope. Immediately the tuberose is already playing upwards, unleashing its diva headiness of creamy white florals and vanillics. As it’s steered in a slightly different direction by a tropical, banana starchy, and yellow floral ylang-ylang, we encounter the ruse: this could be easily forgiven for being mistaken as coconut. It’s not, but it’s a convincing illusion. However, it’s better because of the illusion since there is greater breadth and depth to this accord than had the brand simply chosen to have a heavy hand with a single or even double lactone material. As time goes on it becomes more convincingly tuberose. And in the skin scent is when the lactone(s) become more apparent as we get a creamy and vanillic amber that is surprisingly light weight, sunlit, easily wearable and breathable even in a humid and tropical heat. There is a slightly burnt quality to it, that smells a bit of reddish-brown sunkissed and hot skin thanks to a resinous benzoin note that is likely responsible for a lot of the vanillic quality, and a bitter and earthy tonka note as well. Lovely. This isn’t a quiet or restrained fragrance; people around you are definitely going to think you’re wearing a very potent and luxurious sun tan lotion. Tuberose is allowed to be its usual loud and brash self, dialed up to Spinal Tap 11, and the other notes belt with that volume as well, seeming to not struggle to keep up. Only later in the perfume’s life at the skin scent has the beach party switched from near-deafening dance music to bossa nova, but it’s always fun and playful and easy despite the volume at times. Though TF clearly aim this at their feminine market, my fellow men, don those swim trunks or boat shorts and that linen shirt and give this a whirl. I truly think this wears very well on a man in the right circumstances just as much as it does for a woman. It might’ve intended to be a Girl's Only Beach Club, but they’ve taken to the water's edge, pulled the Girls Only sign down, let the fellas join the party and turned the music up - and I think all of us agree that sounds like a good time.

I am a man who loves green fragrances, yet Soleil Blanc made me fall in love on a lazy summer afternoon, on a blotter at the airport. The opening is citrusy, made spicy by pepper. I have never perceived the pistachio note. The tuberose and ylang-ylang notes invigorate the coconut, which remains the dominant note in the heart and drydown of the fragrance. Incredibly, I started buying a few fragrances similar to Soleil Blanc, because it was love at first sniff, and I also agree with what many have said: Despite its beauty, there are many valid alternatives, and the price is very high relative to its performance. Beach Walk, for example, was released a few years earlier, and I don’t see all this much difference. So nothing new, but I cannot deny that it smells amazing and that it made me interested in this type of fragrance, far from my usual tastes. Incredibilmente ho iniziato a comprare qualche profumo che si avvicinasse a Soleil Blanc, perché è stato amore a primo annuso e confermo anche quanto detto da molti: Nonostante la bontà ci sono molte altre valide alternative ed il prezzo è molto alto commisurato alle performance. Beach Walk per esempio è uscito qualche anno prima e non ci vedo tutta questa differenza. Niente di nuovo quindi, ma non posso negare che sia buonissimo e mi abbia fatto interessare a questo tipo di fragranze ben lontane dai miei gusti abituali

Beachy, sweet, white floral, coconut, tuberose, warm, amber, yellow floral, vanilla, woody, warm spicy, citrusy, sunny, radiant, luminous, feminine, sensual, seductive, sexy, chic, charming, elegant, charming, whimsical, enchanting, dreamy, delightful, captivating, alluring, tempting, addictive, intriguing, inviting, cozy, comforting, nostalgic, transportive This is hands down one of my all time favorite fragrances, and definitely in my top 5! This smells like the hot Sun warming bare skin on a tropical white sand beach! I’d spent many years searching for something exactly like this whenever it was released, and knew this was the one for me! It was one of my first big blind buys, and it smelled even more gorgeous than I’d imagined, and was everything that I was hoping for, and more! I’m a huge fan of this scent profile and beachy/coconut fragrances, although there weren’t a ton of them whenever this launched. At the time, the only others that were similar that I owned were Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess, Bobbi Brown Beach, and Kate Spade Live Colorfully, all of which I still own and thoroughly enjoy! On me this opens citrusy and warm spicy with bergamot, cardamom, pink pepper, savory pistachio. The heart blooms with sweet tuberose, exotic ylang ylang, and lush jasmine. The dry down really shines as it intertwines tropical coconut, warm golden amber, vanillic tonka bean, and cozy and woody benzoin. The most prominent notes on me are the coconut, jasmine, amber, ylang ylang, and tonka bean. I have a mini bottle of the actual perfume itself, but I almost always use my shimmering body oil instead. I’m shocked that it performs almost as well as the perfume, smells identical (as it is TF Soleil Blanc, just the shimmering body oil version), and is only a fraction of the cost! It’s one of the few bottles that I always try to keep a backup of! Beachy, sweet, floral, warm, vanilla, creamy, woody, warm spicy, citrusy, feminine, sensual, seductive, classy, elegant, sophisticated, chic, luxe, charming, whimsical, dreamy, delightful, divine, smooth, alluring, tempting, addictive, cozy, comforting I spent years trying to find the perfect beachy/coconut scent in a perfume to wear during the summer. I was so positive about this one whenever it launched that I actually blind bought it! I was right, it was everything that I’d been looking for for so long! Even after owning this for almost 10 years, it’s still one of my most reached for fragrances, and one of the few that I always try to keep a backup bottle of! It’s such a gorgeous sweet and tropical coconut with sensual vanillic tonka bean, the golden warmth of amber, and cozy benzoin intertwined throughout. With a softly warm spicy opening of cardamom, pink pepper, and bright bergamot on a bed of lush and creamy white florals, and tropical ylang ylang. I get somewhat of a monoi oil vibe here too, which I absolutely adore (even though there’s no Tiare flower listed). It’s also giving luxurious sun tan lotion vibes, only better. Think lying on a tropical beach with the sun warming your skin. The first 5 I’ve mentioned here all have a similar vibe to Soleil Blanc, and they’re definitely worth checking out. Honestly, all of these are great scents, but Soleil Blanc, Sunkissed Hibiscus, and Sunkissed Goddess are my top favorites! I also love pairing the B&BW body care I mentioned with these other beachy/coconut scents. The most sunscreen like one of these is Bobbi Brown Beach. If you’re looking for something more monoi oil centered I highly recommend Yves Rocher Monoi Eau des Vahines, Bronze Goddess, or Lust For Sun.
