Soleil Brûlant

Finally, a radiant solar beach scent that doesn't resort to overuse of florals, fruits, and especially coconut. Mind you, those notes are certainly in this perfume, but rather than permitted to sing a sickly pop-group three-part harmony at shrieking volumes, they are given nuanced parts that allow the whole to be greater than the sum. In fact, what Soleil Brulant is, actually, is an amber and a very clever one at that. Tart oranges and orange blossom accords are reflected by ingredients of stellar complexity that give this amber it's warm, radiant, bronzed luminescence. Some piquant but mild doses of rainbow pepper and bergamot accent them nicely. Fresh, aromatic olibanum and vetiver, and slightly animalic ambers and leathers at the base give the radiance an expansive and sweeping feeling. Diving a bit deeper into the amber aspect of it: unlike most amber fragrances (these days, rather), Soleil Brulant is quite dry and eliminates the obligatory sweet tonka/vanillic and balsamic aspects that are almost inextricable from modern ambers. There is a sweetness to this fragrance but apparently that comes from the use of black honey - whatever that is - not balsams, labdanum, or vanillics. Again, you can tell, if you didn't read the press release, that there is something pleasantly sweet that isn't of the typical amber ilk, but you likely wouldn't guess honey and most certainly not black honey. But once you pick it up, it becomes impossible to ignore. It becomes pervasive on the palette, but because it's a clever honey accord the sweetness is never sickly or cloying; it's very tasteful and pushes more composted-floral buttons than sugar buttons. This interesting and unusual turn is very fun and uniquely compelling; it keeps you coming back for one more hit after another while you try to guess what's going, while a soothed smile paints your face as you bask in its light and warmth. Also in the dry down, the rarer light, fresh, and radiant qualities of olibanum are nicely accentuated, which gives it an almost mentholated aroma. The olibanum is seamlessly and cleverly overlapped by slightly chemically and very dry castoreum and fresh aromatic vetiver. I think a lot of people will ask themselves "Soleil Blanc or Soleil Brulant" if they are unfamiliar with both and are looking for a summer "beach" scent from TF. They are, after all, sisters in the same line in Tom Ford's Private Collection. I would respectfully and excitedly ask them to dismiss this question entirely because they are completely different perfumes. Soleil Blanc revels in summer, beach side party, coconut suntan lotion, and overpowered fruity cocktails trashiness. It is all about fun, and any seriousness or attempts at good manners or decorum is left at the door. Soleil Blanc is the young and immature sibling, whereas Soleil Brulant is the older, more mature, wealthier and debonair sister that is hell-bent on presenting herself as elegant and decorous while having fun at the beach party; she's there to have fun, but make no misconceptions about the intentionally-picked designer sun-dress she's wearing and the expertly applied makeup because she wants to make an impression and turn a few heads. For that reason, some may find Brulant a little unapproachable and stiff, maybe trying a bit too hard. For me, however, my head and my attention have definitely turned in her direction.

A creation far ahead of its time and not everyone will appreciate because of its unfamiliar smell and blending. Let me begin by teleporting us to outer space far far away from earth... or perhaps further beyond our galaxy 🌌. A planet where there are two suns or more in the orbit very close by ☀️🪐☀️. The temperature is obviously hot where only summer fragrance are appropriate to wear. As we all aware that summer options are very limited with simple profile and commonly dominated by citrus. SOLEIL BRÛLANT is an entirely new take on amber scent that works particularly amazing in the high heat. Which is very contradicting with other fragrances in this category commonly works for spring and winter. Reading all the notes majorly listed such as honey, resin, olibanum, amber, frankincense and leather it wouldn't be surprised if misleading everyone wearing it in the wrong climate. Wearing this in colder weather I find it to be very one dimensional and comes accros unpleasant and bit weird because the notes are colliding and conflicting all together. When I read Tom Ford website describe it capturing 'the high-shine brilliance of the golden sun beaming on a private oasis', then I try to wear in hot sunny day and I'm glad I done it ✨. At first spray various citrus notes welcoming me with refreshing aroma accompanied with slightly spicy pink pepper gives an uplifting and punchy depth. From the heart phase of this fragrance is where the unfamiliar yet beautifully mixed aroma start to shine. Imagine going to a field of land (in distance planet that I mentioned above) where white florals are blossoming everywhere and being exposed to multiple suns. The smell of flowers with a toasted sun burned effects is recreated beautifully here by the unusual mix of orange blossom and black honey. The rest of the experience continues cohesively to an ambery and slightly leathery feel whilst still maintaining the bright sunny heart. I find this fragrance is an amazing options for people living in mostly hot climate country and fragrance connoisseur looking for a rich scent for summer or perhaps as a signature scent for astronauts in outer space 🪐🌕☄️🌌🌠 Rumor has it that it will be discontinued soon for many people misunderstanding it entirely. But I wouldn't be surprised if someday in the future decades or century from now this type of scent will be a successful hits. Mayan gold temples, beaches, sunscreen, gingerbread, gold bouillon, sunbeams, Ra the sun god, amber, cinnamon creme brûlée and spices. What do all these have in common? I’ll tell you, Soleil Brûlant. In one way this fragrance feels like it’s good for the summer, a slight sun tan lotion/ bronzer vibe (I’m sure I got something like this in a sun bed studio back in the early 2000) but then it’s like being given a huge amber hug that is warming and Perfect for autumn. Then there is this creme brûlée & gingerbread thing going on that makes me feel like Christmas is around the corner! It’s super cozy!! At one point as I was moving around quite a lot I even felt that this had a sporty kind of vibe going on. Sometimes it’s not there and I don’t smell it then I move around and it pops out and I get a delightful smell that suits my mood and what I’m doing. For me, this seems to be an unusual Swiss Army knife fragrance. It’s fitting (if applied correctly) in summer and autumn and winter. I think spring might be the only time I don’t think this works. I’ve never smelled anything like it before, very original to me. It’s a beautiful balance of amber, spice, sweetness and wood with an unexpected freshness. It projects well (depending on how you spray) and lasts 6-8hrs on me. I love this 9/10 1 mark off as it’s bloody expensive

Now this is something special. It smells extremely expensive. Just received my sample today and it’s intoxicating. The initial opening is bright mandarin, lemon (IMO) and peppercorn. The initial dry down is a little bit smokey - I guess this is the vetivier - leather, amber, and mandarin orange. The complete dry down just loses the smokiness. It is a bit resinous, and quite sweet. Not very femininely sweet though. A man could definitely pull this off. Someone else said that this is a summer fragrance for people who like winter fragrances best. I agree! This is a new staple in my collection. Not sure how long it lasts. I don’t necessarily have high hopes because most Tom Fords don’t last very long on me. This projects like a beast though. I can smell this on someone else who is in another room. Spray with caution. Absolutely addicting. FBW for me. ETA: Lasts about 6-7 hours on me, projects well for about 3 hours then is a skin scent for 3 hours. I was pleasantly surprised. This is also definitely gourmand. In the words of my boyfriend “you smell like food... but in a good way.”

I like this a lot!!!! ☺️✊🏾 I sprayed this on at 5pm before going to an outdoor summer festival. I think I did 2 sprays on my chest let it dry then put on my shirt 👕 hit my neck with 2 hits on each side and then one hit on each 💪🏾( when I wear a short sleeve shirt the scent lasts for ever on my biceps ...longer than on my wrists). Still get good whiffs of it on me at 11:30pm. I don’t get the vegetable soup and celery every one else mentions. It definitely has a sharp opening but I get a sharp citrus 🍊 🍋 & pepper 🌶 that some how smells like the burned crispy top of a creme brûlée with slices of citrus fruit on top ...imagine you take your spoon 🥄 and break open that crispy top and get that aroma of a creamy custard underneath that crispy browned sugar shell.... well that’s what the dry down is like .... it goes to the sweet creamy custard like scent , which just a slight renindryof that sharp opening ....which is what I am Smelling now at 11:30pm . If you eat creme brûlée and you’re a foody I think you’ll get it and realize, like me, that it’s genius!! ✊🏾

I also hated this at first, but after a few tries I am getting to like this as it is so totally original. I cook a lot with turmeric and this reminds me of the dry, dusty, spicy element of turmeric. There is also a faint menthol coolness (maybe the vetiver?) that counteracts all of the spiciness which is interesting. In a weird abstract way I find a pinch of JOOP! Homme in this as they do share 5 of the same notes: Orange blossom, Mandarin Orange, Honey, Vetiver, and Woods. It is very hard to describe, but woody, dry and muted slightly sweet spice is the overall vibe to this. Runs on the masculine side to my nose. I'll keep playing with this one to see if I start to get attached to this and too see what others around me think. So far, I am intrigued, which already gives Tom Ford points as most new releases are run of the mill and boring. This is a welcome, albeit challenging, change of pace.

Soleil Brûlant is pure sunshine in a bottle. It smells brilliant, clean, spicy and sweet from the very first spritz. Imagine stepping out in your nicest beach clothes, freshly groomed, then diving into the ocean. Your skin carries that salty sea air and radiates the creamy sweetness of a luxe sun-tan lotion in the most irresistible way. My only gripe is that its glow is fleeting—I find myself chasing that warmth with another spritz all too soon. I love how a subtle spicy undercurrent lifts the composition and keeps it from feeling one-dimensional. The moderate silage means it sits close to the skin but leaves a lovely trail as you move through a room. If you’re craving a fragrance that captures sun-drenched skin with elegance, Soleil Brûlant delivers, though you’ll need to reapply to maintain that perfect sun-kissed vibe all day.

What a unique scent! I remember trying this out at a department store in Sydney a while back and recoiling, wondering what would possess anyone to smell like this. I had just sniffed the atomiser and decided it wasn't worth me trying. So, I walked away and went on with my day, but kept getting whiffs of this super interesting, resinous but sweet smell and wondering what it was. Turns out I had got some on my hand when I was smelling the bottle earlier. I kept being drawn into smelling more of it. Just recently I found it on sale and decided to get a bottle and I am so glad I did. The opening is definitely polarising, and I can see how people would write off the scent but give it some time! The honey and amber really develop and give this fragrance the most beautiful soft, warmth that I just love.

Just received my bottle today and was very surprised and happy with it, as was a blind buy. I was worried it was going to be too sweet after reading and watching some reviews on this, however to me its quite the opposite! First spray is a lovely fresh burst of bergamot, orange and spice which really hits those senses in my nose and then it drops into the blossom floral note (I didn't get the honey note) and quickly changes to this lovely smoky, spicy, vetiver projection with some slight amber overtones. I am really enjoying this one! I would say its obviously unisex, but to me this is a more masculine version of the Soleil line for sure and you can smell slight hints of Soleil Blanc DNA (ever so slightly), definitely found my summer scent this year!!

Smelt this one today in Nordstrom. Quite a lot of hype for this one, and I can see why. However, I thought it was just ok. I didn’t love it. I got that plastic vibe others have talked about. Soleil Brulant smells like something that has already been done before. What I do get is a beachy vibe that overall reminds me just a little bit of Paco Rabanne’s One Million Parfum. That fragrance has a “solar note” that mixes with leather which sort of creates the same affect. Soleil Brulant has that really nice honey note which I enjoyed. I was hoping to get some musky spices that some people talked about. Overall, a like, but not a love. I was going to buy the travel sized atomizer blind. Glad I didn’t. 6/10

To me this fragrance is bold and uniqueness, a challenging scent that leaning more muscular, the opening remind me of some Amouage fragrances, its not smell like the same but in the same categories, I get a lots of pink pepper very spicy, a slighty touch of leather and sweetness, I don't know why Estee Lauder market it as a summer fragrance, I do get a liitle bit the sun burning feeling, but to me its a cool weather scent, and a bit of vegetable soup vibe, its kinda weird, I think many girls would hate this scent, but I kinda feel its quite interesting to me, soft longevity and projection, and this is not a crowd pleasers fragrance, niches quality in a bottle overall 8/10

Reviews are all over the place on Soleil Brûlant, but put me on the love side. It’s a gourmand amber scent, and I’m getting a strong camphor pine hit in the opening. The orange flower along with a little powder comes out to play in the drydown. Smells dark, sweet and spicy—a little bit like a craft store with resins and something stewing. That’s not a diss as I still like it. Firmly place this above average performer in cold weather. Tom Ford has released another winner, an overpriced winner, but nonetheless I still want Soleil Brûlant. I will be looking for a gray market deal, because as everyone else has noted, this has epic stupid pricing attached to it.

This is new to ypur nose for sure. You must be really experienced in niche, slective perfumery to Buy this perfume.. Must be tested on skin for sure. Bought it in spring and I'm absolutely in love! I smell pink pepper on the start mixed with white flowers. Then comes the honey-ambery note and a little bit of that expensive body cream. I wear it in the office, get loads of comliments and questions like what is it?! Its the kind of perfume which is hard to sort by notes) Unusual, very elegant and sexy) cant wait to see how it opens in the heat. P.s. Tom Ford is a trend setter) I can predict that more perfumes similar to SB will appear in near future)

Multi-faceted honey; opens bright, peppery, a touch powdery & smoky, becomes sweeter and more caramelised as the orange flower emerges, eventually pares down to a sticky and resinous amber with a bit of leather. I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed my sample; I was expecting something much more tropical but this is decidedly not that. This is like experiencing facets of the sun in a desert oasis or on a warmish day in the mountainside. Can be worn all year round, but definitely appropriate for nighttime in the proper summer and all day in autumn, winter, and spring. Lasts around 8 hrs on skin, projects quite loudly. Looking to get a full bottle.

I have started to finish off my ridiculously big stash of samples when I ran into this one again, and decided to make it my SOTD :) This is the second time I am trying it, and it just fits perfectly right now - it's still hot and summery outside, but despite that there is autumn in the air. This is not a sweet, syrupy summer scent, but instead warm amber and spices with a light smell of dry flowers and resin in the background. Last time it reminded me of EA Sunflowers, and I guess it still faintly does, but it is not at all as juvenile and floral as I thought last time. I might even have to adopt a bottle to make it my late summer scent...

Soleil Brulant is a beautiful amber! I think she may be too niche for a designer line like Tom Ford. I suspect that's why she's deemed controversial. If you appreciate deep & resinous fragrances you'll love this one. The opening is this crisp & spicy citrus glazed with luscious honey. Then as she dries down she reaches a deep depth through the resins, amber, and the additional richness from the base. Very high quality and smooth. If you aren't typically into scents like this I suggest to give Soleil Brulant a try because her composition is beautiful. I would wear her in fall & winter; I think she may be too heavy for summer wear.

I can totally understand the mixed views on this one. You do need to have a love for honey. To me this is dominated with honey and orange and very very spicey . I do detect a smokey burning to it oh so slightly too, hence the name , I guess. A definite unisex scent and it is beastly. Staying power is all day long. For me the sillage on this is so so intoxicating. The sillage is more mellowed and smoother than when you sniff this up close. Love it, but certainly not a blind buy perfume, sample first . One gripe is the ridiculous price...although a fab scent , the crazy price just portrays corporate greed!

To me, this is a more masculine version of Soleil Blanc. The main differences are that it’s more resinous and it comes off more spicy. The biggest difference is in the notes if you would’ve compared the two would be that this one has leather and wood, along with the amber that really peaks through on the nose. You still get a good amount of the white florals, but all in all it’s a more resinous Soleil Blanc. This is a perfect all season all weather fragrance as well. I know others have said that this can be worn in the winter and in the summer and they are not wrong.

Ridiculously overpriced but a fantastic fragrance. Not many notes you can pick but the whole mix is gorgeous. Warm, rich and sensual but not too sweet. For women and men. For day and night. Lovely, vanilla ambery base which has something from the almost euphoric effect of the base of Joop for men. There is also something aromatic and gourmand,but not as strong as in Feve delicieuse by Dior, with notes of licorice, tonka and almonds. Even though not mentioned here they give the uniqueness of this fragrance and the "brullant" effect. The best new launch of the year!

I got a chance to try this today and I’m really really really sad to say that i absolutely LOVE this, or at least, my wallet is. Weirdly I find that on me the scent pyramid is almost backwards, starting out quite intense and spicy and on the dry down becoming very sweet and almost coconutty (despite not being listed on the notes). I love the way the Honey, Leather and Incense notes mix, it creates a very unique scent that just smells luxurious. I don’t like the summertime but this sure as hell would make me change my mind.

I’ve never encountered a burnt honey/crème brûlée vibe in a fragrance before, so this is a delicious and unexpected treat. And so powerful, too! Sunny and summery, for sure, but being that this is such a rich fragrance I could easily see it being perfect for cooler weather. Having owned/sampled all four fragrances, I’d say this is definitely the most "masculine"-leaning of the Soleil line. My Tom Ford counter guy recently gave me a sample of this beauty and I’m positive it will become my next TF acquisition.

This is how this smells to me: Imagine lying on your chest on a wooden deckchair, on a sandy beach. You are sensing the sun hitting your skin. You can barely smell the faint reminder of the sunscreen you applied hours ago. The smell of your skin is mixed with the smell of the burning golden sand and the sweet, hot wood of the deckchair. It’s intoxicating! I absolutely cannot understand the low rating on this perfume! Is it the price point? Because, even then, I would Choose this over a Byredo any given day.

A lot of AMBER and some white florals. The middle-bottom is honey-like sweet, just like eating a big spoon of honey. It is very interesting, but way too expensive. DO NOT BLIND BUY! sample first Update: 4 hours later on my second try here is the picture I get from this thick, oily, amber scent: You are on vacation, you spent the whole day tanning on the beach (the weather is hot and humid). You go home take a shower and cover yourself on some body oil and go out with friends for cocktails to see the sunset.

I get orange blossom, pepper and a warm amber mix off the bat. I stays kind of fresh and summery for ages. It’s reminiscent of that lovely smell of your parters skin on the beach in the sun all day wearing top shelf suntan lotion. I really like it. It’s a fantastic concept in my mind. The dry down is just a good. It changes a bit and goes slightly creamy, the pepper comes through more and I get quite a bit of toasted cumin I think. I can’t stop whiffing it. It’s a BIG 8/10 for me. A scorching sun over the desert. It smells of golden honey, intense warm amber, and sun-scorched citrus. Opulent and perfect if you want something summery yet incredibly potent. After a while, a thick, dark, golden honey emerges, blended with the sweetness of orange blossom. It isn’t a cloying, candy-like honey; it is a resinous honey—almost metallic and incandescent, searingly hot... like a summer afternoon ☀️... simply wonderful! Sillage: 7/10 Longevity: 7.5/10 Scent: 9/10 Overall: 9/10

I love this fragrance)) But i think the main problem of this is a wrong marketing. It's not a sunny scent. This is not for summer, spring or maybe not even for fall. It has nothing to do with Soleil Blanc. It's truly winter scent. It's for Christmas and New year)) It brings memories of Christmas tree and citruses. It has some sharpness as a glass of champagne. After rew hours if more sweet and warm. It's golden like metallic Christmas baubles)) So give it a chance in winter))

This is one heck of a sexy scent! It's Bianca Jagger on a horse; regardless of the destination. If you own a Warhol knockoff and this scent; you are winning. I loved it when I spritz in on. I loved it an hour later when the amber settled. I loved it later when the honey dripped seductively over my wrists and caressed my neck. It's gorgeous if you like oriental and oud and their ... honey. Price point is the only negative. In this respect Tom Ford is taking us for a ride!

Haven’t worn this in quite some time I put it on for Mother’s Day and I was blown away and remembered yes I have to wear this more often and it does last forever it is very strong. It’s so strong that I just prayed on my chest and you can still smell it underneath my clothes. Put it on Mother’s Day around noon came home took a shower around 10:30, made amazing love, and I can still smell it on my chest! This is a lovely beast and it reminds me of toasted crème brûlées .

The "vegetable soup" celery/turmeric aspect is what really sells me on this~ Even though it's NOT a sunscreen scent I definitely agree that the overall effect does feel reminiscent of sun warmed, sand-dusted skin. I absolutely don't need it, but as one of the few ambers that will be equally wearable in the heat and the cold I'm certainly going to get it (while we're still in that period where all those free press copies are unloaded for reasonable prices!!!)

My first reaction in the first few minutes was to throw it out the window: it's a much too strong perfume that causes headaches. After half an hour, I revised my opinion: it is surprising, intense and shocking, hence my first reaction. It smells like burnt amber, along with gourmet honey and some slightly sweet fragrant citrus flowers. I don't think it should be worn in a hot summer, I recommend it to be worn especially on warm autumn days.

I actually like. If course everyone is different and the outcome depends on body chemistry and the weather. But I really enjoy it. It is definitely unisex and in me it smells clean and legendary homey. Not sweet at all and very pleasant with just the right amount of pink pepper zing and honey. It is elegant and not cheap smelling to me. No animalic notes whatsoever. Just clean and sophosticated! Try It, it is worth it.

The dominant notes, regardless of the note breakdown, are caramel, coconut, and vanilla, in that order. The vanilla is spicy giving this fragrance a slight spiciness but nothing too dominant. Dry down darkens you with woody notes and vetiver. If you’re looking for a blanket statement, this smells like creme brulee in a bottle. This is a summer gourmand. Overall a solid 8/10 in my eyes, pretty good but not the best.

I have a really hard time describing this fragrance - It smells like an orange creamsicle mixed with a sweet tart but in the most classy, subtle, elegant way. And it lasts so long. I sprayed this on at 1-ish for a 3pm wedding. I was still getting whiffs of it by 7am the next morning. My full bottle is coming. I’m taking if off the hands of someone who blind bought this. Do not blind buy it. Do get a decant.

Got this scent super cheap for £80 for 100ml, so when I say it's way overpriced, that's because I couldn't afford the rrp but Im glad have this scent. Orange blossom, resins, smoky incense and honey. A great creamy bright tonka bean finish. There are certain tonka bean Fragrances that have that an unbearable sweetness, this almost has that but it's made more masculine with the leather, olibanum and vetiver

The opening is a bright menthol smell, like a box of Altoids. Its also has a clean laundry undertone like a detergent vibe. The dry down is warm and musky, seems to follow the same trend as Soleil Blanc and Soleil Neige. Although I believe this fragrance smells expensive I don't think it warrants a higher price tag over the others in the Soleil line.

It took time. On first smell I was repulsed and intrigued at the same time. I kept returning to it and this is before it had been sprayed on my skin. Was unsure I wanted to smell like a car garage, all petrol and metal. But I kept going back. Then one day it all clicked in, the wood, the sun, the deep, dirty sweet of it and now it's true love.

This is an all time gem! It’s been recently discontinued but fragrancenet and Jomashop still has it in stock. One of the most unique and innovative amber fragrances I’ve ever smelled. It’s also very complex, so perhaps that’s why TF gave it the axe. It’s like a honeyed Amber with some solar qualities and a hint of smokiness.

I tested today at selfridges in London and O.M.G!!!! I adore it !! In two words it’s like smelling a crème brûlée literally ....I get the fact that’s it’s got honey but the honey smells more like a caramel note. It was about time to have a different scent as TF lately was being quite repetitive.

Imagine someone using a blender to grind some celery then after a quick run of the tap, went on to make crème brûlée. This perfume is that resultant dessert. Gourmand, definitely. Some might not even notice the remaining celery note. If you can get over that whiff, this is a great perfume.

Spicy, dark, thick resinous honey. In warmer weather my skin pulls the citrus out. I find this extremely unique and different but can see how this could be very off putting to the masses. It is an odd one for sure but that gives me all the more reason to wear it.

Definitely a Masculine Fragrance. I can feel the SUNSHINE! I can imagine a sporty or sexy guy wearing this fragrance and lying on beach. Woody Amber, I can smell some honey inside but not smoky and woody as other TFs. Not unique but still nice.

The only comment I have on this fragrance is that it smells like money, such an underrated scent from Tom ford and sticks onto you till washed off. When I think of a luxury beach resort dinner, this is the scent I’d wear.

I find the smell of this quite pleasant, but it’s not special enough for me to pay the price it has. It reminds slightly of EA Sunflowers with added resin and some very faint, soft spice.

Very sensual and sexy! The honey note alongside the citrus ones are delightfully insane. Meant for summer nights and warm midsummer days. Wearing it in hot weather can be uncomfortable

This is hands down, my favourite right now. I can't put my finger on it but it reminds me of a perfume a friend had in the early -00's. Super nice, sunscreen, honey, resin. Love it.

I absolutely love this. It really speaks to the niche consumer. One of my all-time favorites. It’s definitely unique and polarizing. Long lasting!

I imagine if Amun Ra, the chief of all the Egyptian gods, ever wears a perfume it will be this one! It is divine!

This perfumes smells like hot wooden sauna to me. I can smell the heated steaming from the birch.
