Tobacco Oud Intense

Tom Ford Tobacco Oud Intense. It pains me to review a perfume that is discontinued and sells for stupidly inflated prices on the aftermarket. Yet I realized I never reviewed this one properly and thought it might help people looking to purchase it blindly. In many years of collecting, I have witnessed all the "fragcom behaviors" and "trends." One that seems perpetual is hyping stuff that is discontinued and hard to get, only to feel good for having it. However, this is not the case with this perfume. The hype is warranted. At this point in my journey and after going through a major decluttering, I am left with only two designer fragrances. Tobacco Oud Intense is one of them. I find it sublime, and all around, flawless. By far, the best perfume the house has ever put out, at least to my taste. What does it smell like? To put it bluntly, this perfume comes across as a combination of Tobacco Oud, Oud Wood Intense, Plum Japonais, Tuscan Leather, and Amber Absolute. It takes bits from some of the most highly acclaimed Tom Ford perfumes to create this. It shares the original Tobacco Oud DNA and adds on top the heavy castoreum accord from Oud Wood Intense, the leather from Tuscan Leather, the fruity quality present in both Plum Japonais (and the spices) and Tuscan Leather, and finally, the sweet amber accord and smokiness from Amber Absolute. It comes across not as an "intense" version of Tobacco Oud but rather a "perfected" or "complete" one. It takes Tobacco Oud, stretches out its profile, irons its creases, and smooths everything out. More sophisticated, complex, and inviting. It opens up quite aromatic and boozy but also fruity somehow. Aromatic in the sense that it makes me think of a combination of artemisia, juniper, and perhaps cypress, with a faint boozy vibe, and a raspberry/plum cognac touch. It grabs your attention immediately, as the opening of every good fragrance is supposed to do. This part doesn't last long and soon makes way to the tobacco accord, here veering on the dry leafy side of the spectrum, that is paired with a hefty dose of fine smoke and a leathery castoreum reminiscent of Oud Wood Intense, but not as assertive, here the smoky tobacco leading the way. This interplay of smoke, tobacco, and castoreum pushes for a good while before it starts to melt into the base. Once it settles down, I get the Amber Absolute similarities, minus the heavy Santalol part. I get the "amber fossil" accord that smells like it is leaning heavily on benzoin, not labdanum or cistus. It is on the sweet, powdery, and vanillic side of the spectrum. The tonka bean provides a nice support to that as well. The smokiness continues to push alongside, while the tobacco accord slowly fades away. It has incredible tenacity and lasts for a good 24 hours on the skin and dies down to this smoky, sweet ambery scent with a touch of dirtiness from the castoreum. It is a complex perfume that transitions in stages, masterfully blended with seamless transitions, a graceful presence on the skin without overpowering, unique, and one that will make a lasting impression. Again, I feel it is one of those long-gone perfumes worth the hype. As for a good alternative, I haven't found anything similar enough, except maybe for Sultan Pasha's Tabac Grande. The latter feels like an intense version of this, more butch, if you will, offering a similar vibe and wearing experience, at least for me. I would love to know the perfumer who put this one together as I'd like to see what else he has under the belt. Let's not mention how much this differs from Oud Wood. If OW is a soft, delicate and sharp young man, this is the brazen, ambitious and relentless older brother. I chose the analogy of brothers because I can certainly detect a similar backbone in both fragrances. Let's break this down more. Scent: 8/10 Good overall, excellent dry-down Having been used to smelling resinous compounds and oud oils for a while, this one does not jar me at all. In fact, there is a metallic crisp that tells me straightaway that there is, once again, no oud oil in this fragrance. A clean dirtiness that penetrates from the base and jabs you in the nose - that's the opening. After a hefty first impression, the molecules retreat and settle on the skin, giving a harsh synthetic leather that is strangely pleasing. There is a slight herbal tone that reminds me of wormwood. As the harshness dissipates, more sweetness from the tonka envelops the skin like an invisible layer. The dry-down at the 2 hour mark is phenomenal. Sweetness intertwines and meshes with resinous labdanum, giving floral impression with vanillic undertones. This scent lingers boldly and never quite leaves the skin, yet it projects just enough for your own olfactory pleasure. Versatility: 5/10 Speaks only for a few This scent is brazen, but not wild. This is not a fun person to deal with. He means business. He has ambitions. He does not fear confrontation. Behind his fiery front lies a measured mind. This is the guy that hits so hard on first impression and never leaves your mind after passing the spotlight. I remain forever impressed at how Tom Ford manages to instill such a specific personality in a matter of seconds. So yes, this speaks to a select few with innate confidence and vitality. If you are the kind that wants to get big things done, this scent could be speaking for you. Projection: 8/10 Great In the first hour this scent blasts, but not quite as much as the likes of One Million or other clubbing fragrances. Indeed, the projection trails off quickly in an hour, but never quite as much as docile. It is comfortable and sticks to you like a scented leather jacket. The dry-down creates a marvelous atmosphere that rivals the artistic creations of Bortnikoff and older Areej. Longevity: 9/10 Mildly disturbing This scent coat lasts as long as 14 hours on me and survives shampooing. The initial jab takes only about an hour to settle, and sweetness becomes more prominent from there. Definitely stains the fabric. Can be mildly annoying if you're rotating fragrances. Overall: 7.5/10 Great It is perhaps unfortunate that I've added versatility as a judging criterion, but it is for the purposes of relaying more accurate information for your purchasing decisions. I'll say it again: this fragrance has a specific personality. You don't wear this fragrance; it wears you. And if it so happens that it vibes in the same frequency as you, then it creates an overwhelming resonance that no one could ignore. Otherwise, this is a pleasant addition to the niche perfumery world - one that is bound to remembered for decades, just as its younger brother.

Looking for the packaging/box for a 250 ml size, pm if you have one for sale. Just an empty box. The fragrance itself is amazing. Opens kind of harsh and animalic, but even then not unbearably so. The balancing act is a masterclass in managing notes, you have a sweaty, leathery castoreum along with a smoky, ashy tobacco and warm sweet amber. Yet somehow, despite all these notes and accords pulling in different directions it blends together superbly well. To my nose, the castoreum here isn't as harsh or medicinal as in Oud Wood Intense, but it really adds quite a bit of depth. The original does a fantastic job, but despite what the note pyramid suggests seems more heavily oriented around ashy tobacco. Admittedly the projection here can depend on your nose. For me I get 10 inches or so of projection for the first 2-3 hours, 6-8 inches off the skin from hours 3-6 and then 2-4 inches from hours 6-10, after which it becomes 1-2 inches. This is based on 2 sprays. Some people say that this projects like crazy, to me it comes off more as a parfum version than anything, richer and closer to you. The elephant in the room is of course how irritating it is to get. If you try to buy it outright good luck because eBay will have you selling both kidneys before you even get to shipping. Decants exist but are hard to find also. Although having hunted this for a good long while, believe me you're not likely getting a bnib of this unless Tom Ford is your uncle or you find someone charging you over 2k USD for it. I have tried clones for this, insider parfums' oud smoke intense and perfume parlour's wood leaf II. Neither of these clones truly get to the heart of the perfume to my mind. They'll give you an approximation of it. Both of them struggle I feel because the castoreum accord they use is much too chemical and smells like musty sheets. I would certainly suggest turn back now while you still can before this one grabs hold of you.

My all time favourite fragrance is the original TO, for three years it has been my signature scent and my go to whenever I needed an extra boost of confidence to teach a class of university students. When I heard it was being discontinued, I was gutted, and have been searching for a back up bottle ever since. Being based in New Zealand, that isn’t exactly easy. Imagine my excitement then when I came across a bottle of TO Intense for sale! I figured I’d snatch it up in leu of the original, and wow! I was not disappointed! Although I do still prefer the original, this is an absolutely gorgeous fragrance with the same DNA I loved in its OG. Upon first spray, instead of whiskey and spices, I am hit hard with a more potent Oud, combined with what I’m assuming is the Castoreum accord, as well as a few spices - cumin, mostly making it feel similar to TF’s London. Shortly after, as it begins to dry down, I get the most gorgeous dried fruits - raisins perhaps, soaked in a little booze. Beneath the fruits, I get the same ashy tobacco from the OG, as well as a little tobacco leaf absolute, lending some real complexity to the blend. The sweetness lasts for some time, transforming to a lovely, powdery/dusty blushing terracotta rose with a warm, delicious and slightly dirty vanilla. After this, I get a woody base with patchouli and zesty toasted coriander seed. These notes together bring a leathery sophistication to the mix, pulling it away from being a sickly gourmand into something loud, commanding, but also intelligent and romantic. It’s a very hot summer here currently, so I had to test this inside under air conditioning, but I cannot wait to wear this in Autumn and Winter, where I know it will truly shine!

All I can say is wow, smoother with more body/density than the original a little heavier. During the first stages it reminds of really old batches of Tuscan Leather, that "furriness" and "suedeness" (if there ever was such words as these two) that is accompanied by a fruit opening that like it's distant cousin Tuscan leather except with TOI its dried fruit and bot raspberry, and if you have Tuscan leather or any TL inspired fragrance then Tobacco Oud Intense will not be redundant because there is way more as the fragrance develops you get this clay- like (in a good way), realistic, vanillic and some tonka bean, In the opening it's slighlty smokey and (not intensely) animalic, well what the average person would describe as animalic. In my opinion sought of a clean animalic, which reveals the tiniest nod to tuscan leather, this quickly changes gear to that familar tobacco oud DNA, not to mention slight whiskey nuances in the backdrop melding the fragrance together from beginning to end, (at first I thought the whiskey note smelt like a dark rum with all the alchol evaporated out, but yes it does actually smell like whiskey, (with all the alcohol, or volatile nose tingling nuances evaporated out). As the fragrance develops it becomes more ethereal that caramely Tobacco which is mixed with that chocolatey patchouli looses the gourmand choclatiness and more and more begins to resemble Tobacco Oud but with more density, strength, depth, with that signature Tom Ford Dark yet somehow light in weight - etherealness, the animalic notes dissipate but there is still leatheriness, I can see why many say this is a masterpiece, and if Amber Absolute has some similarities then that may be next on my radar.

Ok I bought this one and I have the original Tobacco Oud as well. So for people that are deciding to buy this. First off this is the first release of Tom Ford that does smell close to the original one (Tobacco Oud). Tobacco Oud Intense is more rich and less dry. It feels like there is this layer of gourmand richness over the original version of it. The notes are tobacco, oud, tonka bean, castoreum and raspberry. The opening is beautiful as well as the dry down. As it dries down you will have more of the smell of raspberry and smoky/oudy smell to it which works fantastic. It also has this animalic smell to it behind all the gourmand and the raspberry notes (castoreum) which makes this a masterpiece. The projection is strong but not beast mode like Oud Wood Intense, but I have to say it last for long time on your skin. I got at least 8 hours from it. This is definitely a must buy, if you are Tom Ford collector. IMMERSIVE. TANTALIZING. HEIGHTENED. Tom Ford Tobacco Oud Intense unleashes a fiery force ignited by amplified concentrations of tobacco leaf and rare oud. Smoky and smooth, the mystical depths of Tobacco Oud intoxicate into a deeper realm of decadence. An update on this. I have to say the more I wear this, the more I fall in love with this fragrance. Tobacco Oud Intense climbing up my chart very quickly.

One of my all-time fragrances. Like Tobacco Oud, this one took my inexperienced nose a while to adjust. Years and years ago I would test a frag by putting it on the back of my hand and burry my nose in it for hours and hours. My initial impression for TOI was an immediate NO. It was an assault on my olfactory senses! I put my decant away in an old cigar box and left it for dead. About a year later, I'll never forget it......I was looking for a decant of Dior Homme Intense and thought I had picked it up but accidentally picked up and sprayed TOI. I didn't have time to shower so I just kept it on. If you're familiar with the scent bubble some Tom Fords have, this one was no different. It caught me off guard because I liked what I was catching wafts of but didn't think it was me. My wife even said I smelled good (which she hardly ever does). It stayed on me till the next day and engulfed our closet because I put my clothes in the hamper! There is something about the resinous tobacco, amber, and oud that puts me in a mood like no other fragrance can. I'm very fortunate to have a 50ml bottle and use it only for special occasions. I don't understand why TF discontinued this because it's an all-time masterpiece IMO. This isn't really a review, just a few paragraphs to sing my praises!! Cheers!

This is great! Multifaceted: dry, sweet, smoky, rounded with sharp edges. A tough call as to whether this is better than the OG. I will have to compare side by side. It has shades of the OG, except now with castoreum up-front and centre, which then underpins it all throughout the drydown. I agree that someone else likened it to CD Leather Oud, but this is more wearable than LO though. (LO is a bit much in the opening for my tastes but dries down nicely.) I am enjoying TF's current practise of 'Intensifying' his successful blends by adding a whack of animalics in - this and Tuscan Leather Intense turned out very nicely. (Thanks Tom. But no thanks on the price tags!) Perhaps it makes this flanker slightly less everyday wearable for me though, but that's only because I get nose-ache if I have animalics too long. Unfortunately, I did wash my hand after 3 hours of testing and the lovely amber has all but disappeared, leaving mainly the dry tobacco, which is a shame - the amber gave so much. I wonder if this would normally have happened on a longer drydown.

Recently acquired a 50ml bottle. This is such a warmer, sweeter fragrance than Tobacco Oud which I find plays more into the ashy side of tobacco. This from opening to dry down (I find this scent rather linear) has the amber and castoreum making the loudest noises with the tobacco playing fill in notes in the gaps of the other two main accords. I find this to be a warm, cozy scent that’s perfect by the fire drinking a hot toddy. I think it brings people in with its sweetness, but it’s a sweetness that isn’t overbearing or cloying like I find Tobacco Vanille to be. It’s a great balance. Sillage I get is pretty decent for the first couple hours, though nothing mindblowingly huge. I feel the scent stays pretty much the same on me until around hour 7-8 or so, and then the sweetness dies down a bit more and it becomes a much softer skin scent until about 12 hours. Not as much of a longevity beast as Tobacco Vanille... around the same as Tobacco Oud. A lovely fragrance and one I will probably always have as long as it’s in production.

So Tobacco Oud Intense... Just wow! I blind bought this fragrance and went on a whim. I have smelt the likes of Oud Wood, and the original Tobacco Oud, and I thoroughly enjoy both. Woody, dark, spicy scents are more my thing. So I found a guy who was doing a split. I bought a 10ml split which I just received today. This scent, is absolutely magnificent! It's sweet in the opening but still has original Tobacco Oud DNA. I have not given this a full wear yet, but just smelling the juice on my fingers from unscrewing the sprayer from the bottle, is addicting. I'd like to say this is a little on the gourmand side as far as I am aware. Just from smelling the juice alone, as I said it's sweet but it's not a cloying sweetness. Most definitely a evening scent. Fall and most definitely winter for this Tom Ford! Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and will try and get my hands on Oud Wood Intense. I skipped Fucking Fabulous due to some of the reviews claiming it smelt terrible. I'd rather smell woody and smokey anyways. 10/10

Smoky, spicy, intoxicating. This is probably my favorite from Tom Ford, and one of my favorites overall. It's much more than just a flanker--I love the original Tobacco Oud, but this is addictive in a way that not even that can match. It's somewhat less dirty than the original in the opening while being spicier overall (the castoreum?) and not so dry/smoky. The drydown is amazing and distinct--Tobacco Oud has a great dry smoky-sweet drydown; this echoes that but provides more spicy woods and the sweetness is different--the raspberry? Castoreum? Tonka? I wouldn't go so far to say as others have that it's quasi-gourmand, but it's very good. In terms of performance, it's about the same as Tobacco Oud: projects well and lasts forever, especially on clothes. It might be just a tad subtler than the original but considering how that's a powerhouse, this is still pretty strong. It definitely leans masculine. It's overpriced but if you're into tobacco or dark spicy wood fragrances you should try it.

I love Tobacco Oud. It's robust, classy, debonair, and virile. Tobacco Oud Intense, however, is overall sweeter, and smoother, with slight fruity nuances. There might be saffron in this as well, as I can't help but be reminded of Tuscan Leather's silky raspberry/saffron combination. With that being said, Tobacco Oud Intense is very different from its predecessor. Whereas in the original, the scent transports you to a Gentleman's smoker's lounge, the Intense version transports you to a hookah lounge. It strongly reminds me of raspberry-scented tobacco, the similar kind savored at a hookah smoke lounge. The castoreum accord is very well done, making the overall scent feel leathery and smoky. Never fecal nor animalic, but somehow makes the composition a bit more wearable than the original. On scent alone, I must say it's gorgeous. It's a very intoxicating aroma that certainly encapsulates the smell of fruit-scented tobacco being smoked out of a shisha pipe.

Easily one of the best of TFs, and especially TF's flankers. I didn't think you could improve on the OG but here we are. I loved that private member's club, whisky and cigars, but here it is with amber and tonka instead of whisky, standing in many ways more enjoyable for it. The extra spice and vanilla give it better balance. The tobacco is big, round and sumptuous, and deepened by the oud. These are brilliantly offset by the amber and vanilla. The castoreum is only slightly scary for the first minute or so (which means the references to Dior's Leather Oud are only short-lived), then it morphs into an intensely spicy accord (maybe combined with the coriander and patchouli) which is all to die for. And good grief, the drydown is utterly heavenly - possibly even better than the OG, as the lack of whisky note seems to reveal it more. Please, please, please, Tom, make a Signature version of this.

Suggestion: Can we, as the world biggest fragrance community, step up and visit ifra or Tom ford? Or maybe both:p? And ask them politely to bring back all the good stuff like; Tobacco oud, tobacco oud intense, oud wood intense, plum japonais etc.... And also make all the private blend stronger like the used to be! Because it hasn’t been that long ago (2018/2019) that I sprayed oud wood and it lasted about a week on my clothing. And of course I’m not even talking about the first batches (2007/2014), those were like spraying pure perfume oil:p. Or the first time I sprayed Tuscan leather, never forget it had a sillage round 18 hours..... I really miss those moments... Ps.... Of course I would like to see this for more brands and perfumes like Gaultier2, Dior homme intense, Dior homme parfum, bvlgari pour homme etc.....

I believe the perfumer who composed Tobacco Vanille, composed this. It has similarities. In Tobacco Vanille, you have a pungent green leaf Tobacco essence, blended into an accord with chocolate and vanilla. Here he blends Oud with chocolate. This is producing the gourmand vib some have mentioned. I don't pick out hardly any Tobacco. Something mimicking a pipe Tobacco perhaps. So you have a beautiful fragrance of contrasts; The medecinal oud with chocolate, a creamy smooth castoreum, and a nuance of a floral aspect, the unlisted Tobacco blossom perhaps. For me Amber/ labdanum and Oud are the strongest two notes. Everything else is nicely blended to make a rich enjoyable fragrance. I think this has feminine and masculine qualities to appeal to both genders. Performance is very good. Rating: 9/10 God bless. John 3:16

This Fragrance makes me feel like a butcher! Someone wearing a tight sexy shirt opened till the middle of his stomach with hairy chest, covered in blood after killing a cow or any animal. It's extreme animalic but that's not to say its bad. Very potent juice with monster longevity, projection and sillage. Women do fall for it, in addition, its very unique. I love it but it's hard to find the best occasion to pull it off. Just to say, it has nothing to do with the original Tobacco oud, it's not the same smell but intensified. It has some similarities from very far way but you can almost consider it a new smell. Don't believe or trust who says it is similar to the original TO. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 10000/10 Sillage: 8.5 /10 Projection: 9/10 Versatility: -10/10

Being a big fan of Tobacco Oud, so I had to grab this one when it was released and I am glad I did! Take the original TO, replce the whiskey (unfortunately) with Tonka Beans. This makes it slighly less sweet. Add in castorium for an animalic note and some amber for a powdery note. I also get a dry, dark chocolaty note buried deep underneath. Overall a delicious scent! I get good projection and longevity on my skin. This leans very masculine to my nose. The animalic gives it more of a casual vibe than the original TO IMO. If you like TO, you should try this one. If you like animalic, you should try this one. If you like both TO and animalic you should own this one.

Immediately this sits extremely oily on the skin and much softer than the unapologetic pinetar smoke sweet filth bomb original. Opens up castoreum, oud and quickly goes into amber, malt and CHOCOLATE! Its almost completely gourmand the first half hour and then a pungent smokey leather note comes out BUT still behind the gourmand notes. If i was to compare the boozyness of this to something else then definitely pure malt. Its kind of chewy, thick and fruity booze! Now this is just a first impression of my hand so will update later. In terms of the oilyness, Do not apply on clothes or anywhere else than your neck! It will probably not project.

Finally an intense version done right! They’ve amped up the tobacco, the oud, and the castoreum. Not to mention the most important thing - they’ve amped up the longevity and projection. I definitely get the original tobacco oud as the backbone of this scent. This one is winter or cold fall weather only - if you wear this in high heat someone might die. Cant recommend a blind buy. However if you love the original and like fragrances that challenge you this might be up your alley. If you can get a decant or a bottle without donating a kidney go for it. We need more fragrances like this on the market. Another gem that has been discontinued.

Batch A48, i never wear this now, had it for years. the wife is in the bedroom watching tv, its Friday night, am having a few beers spending money on line...i have 30ml left of a 50ml bottle...just sprayed a few sprays on myself, makes me feel like sneaking out of the house and smashing it...getting bk early hours, sneaking in to bed......yawn... babe am tired, I've turned all the lights off and the TV . If you know you know and if your in to your smells and how they effect the feeling...........this stuff effects my feelings. if my wife could read my mind when i spray this stuff.....she would divorce me.
