Vert de Fleur

I am a big fan of green scents, particularly in the springtime. I have fallen in love with several excellent vintage greens, No. 19 and Vent Vert in particular, but finding a modern green that makes me feel like a dryad in the same way is proving difficult. I am currently comparing this scent with another from this collection, Vert Bohème, and I prefer Vert de Fleur, despite my being very impressed with VB. Both galbanum-led green scents from the same nose, Vert de Fleur has the edge, being richer, denser, darker and - crucially - greener. The vetiver base here is a masterstroke, complementing and enhancing the galbanum to perfection. VdF opens with hazy green galbanum, reminiscent of vintage Cellier creations, namely the aforementioned Vent Vert. Galbanum is the key note that I love in green scents, and here it is liberally used, marrying really well with the other notes. As it develops, heady white and yellow florals creep in, but remain second fiddle to the greenness that permeates this scent. I get waxy hyacinth - a springtime staple of my childhood - rounded out by lush jasmine. I get something akin to narcissus too, pollen-y and slightly hay-like. There is a hint of rose evident after some time. The florals become unexpectedly sweet as it progresses, but still complement the greenness beautifully. As it develops, a chypre base emerges. There is an earthy woodiness to this scent, but I don't get distinctive patchouli or oakmoss notes. The combination of the dry, grassy vetiver, green galbanum and soft woody notes perhaps give a chypre-like feel to the base. It is dark green and full-bodied, yet remains somewhat airy. It has more gravitas than say, No. 19, yet is smooth and streamlined. The waxy petal-like texture of the florals remains until final fade, adding oomph to the greenness. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting - its performance took me by surprise for a scent of its profile. It is a unisex springtime scent, in fact, it is one of those scents that reminds me of the winter-to-spring transition. It is a rare green scent that manages to be evening appropriate too, and this is the case here. 1970s in the best way, VdF is a beauty. One of the best modern greens I've tried, this scent is deeply satisfying - the closest thing to the aforementioned vintages. Bucolic beauty. 4.5/5.

Haunting Indolic Florals supported by a thick resinous note of Galbanum with Green undertones. Theres a note of Oakmoss that comes off Green & Dry like partially smoked Tobacco. The Patchouli note is doing what Patchouli does in Tom Ford fragrances. It's adding Dark nuances of Damp Leaves & Soil. The combination of Rose & Jasmine in this fragrance is beautifully fragrant like pretty Rose petals dirtied up with Indoles. The combination of Orange Blossom & Neroli are fresh & uplifting, white & soapy, resting softly on a bed of powdery Iris. Vert De Fleur conjures images of Damp Earth, Fallen Leaves, & Old Graveyards with Bouquets of White Flowers laying on Headstones in Fall under overcast skies. It's darkness supported by beautiful White Florals & Rose. Morbid, yet oddly sexy & beastly in performance. This is the fragrance that "The Tall Man" from "Phantasm" wears. For me Vert De Fleur is the last great Tom Ford Private Blend fragrance. It smells befitting of the Tombstone style Bottle. Its a fragrance that can easily be worn by both Men & Women. But its not a casual fragrance. Its one thats strictly reserved for Semi-formal & Formal dressing. 10/10 for me.

Unexpected love, this scent is my benchmark for all green/galbanum scents and the best of the TF Vert line. More full bodied than the airy No 19, sweeter and more alluring than Synthetic Jungle. Vert de Fleur opens with crunchy, crisp green galbanum, supported by a nutty and sweet aroma like hazelnut. The galbanum here is very fresh and addictive, appearing more than just grass or basil. There's a coolness to it that sets it apart and makes it an outstanding scent. Hyacinth quickly follows as the dominant floral note, blended with rose which lends body and iris which adds a powdery accent. The floral accord is so classy and alluring, yet versatile, ready to be worn anywhere, anytime. The floral heart notes also form the base as the scent dries linearly. I don't detect any musk or amber, which would usually be found as adulterants to florals. Deep into the drydown, hyacinth persists to cut through the scent with an effervescent quality. The scent projects for 4-5 hours, albeit delicately, fading in and out. Vert de Fleur is an exceptionally unique floral that deserves more praise. Definitely worth sampling.

Oh my! This really is something special. Vert de Fleur hits the skin in a big bitter green cloud of hyacinth and galbanum, then, almost immediately, the bitterness begins to fade when neroli and fresh-torn basil reveal themselves in the composition. An hour in and still very green, velvety iris and jasmine, very subtle rose too, float up in an enchanting cloud of floral headiness. Later in the base, soft smoky vetiver emerges to blend dark oak moss and patchouli in harmonious earthy-green symphony. Floral but never feminine, Vert De Fleur really does smell green with a soupçon of beautiful woodiness. Lavish and sophisticated, perfectly unisex from start to finish. Longevity is moderate-long lasting, sillage is heavy at open, becoming moderate. 9/10

People here saying that it is similar to Chanel No19. In my opinion they are completely different. TF Vert de Fleur is superior, is too many time best, very elegant, as its name is Vert and Fleur, seems like gras and fleur mixed, little bit sweet from white flowers, very delicate, sofisticate, it was made to strong personalities, I ́m completely fall in love. I ́ve bougth a 250ml bottle + 15 ml decluter package + other new 50ml bottle, how much I ́ve liked!! Now is my second favorite from my 134 bottles fragrances collection, I ́m just crazy !! LOL!!!

Vert de Fleur bares strong similiarity with previously discontinued Ombre de Hyacinth but as if they perfected the latter. To me Vert de Fleur is more complex and glamorous, with the addition of iris to its composition. I also get some woody notes in its base development where they make it perfectly unisex. Try Vert de Fleur on your skin and see where it takes you. To me its fantastic addition to the Private Blend collection and i`ll be gladly using it in upcoming spring and colder summer nights.

Waking up in the morning, after the midnight storm... the air is crisp, the grass is green, the flowers blossoming on a foggy day. Vert de Fleur inspires a confident and distinctive aura with strong green and floral notes that work in harmony to make you exude strength with a gentle touch. This is a refined earthy scent that will make you feel that “Je ne sais quoi” while evoking true glamour, allure and mystique.

Does exactly what the name says. Intense galbanum + abstract flower bouquet (some kind of magnolia materials?), though the drydown is a bit too much laced with white musks for me. All in all a very nice bitchy green floral throwback to the 70s’ Silences, No. 19, and farther back to Vent Vert. Most sources attribute it to Yann Vasnier, but Fragrantica here says Olivier Gillotin. Who's really the perfumer?

Green and earthy, indeed. I have never smelled anything like that in a perfume. It makes me think of broken twigs and rain falling on dry soil. How can that work in a perfume!? But it does. And then it dries down in a gorgeous bed of yellow florals. This is a keeper!

This Tom Ford fragrance is not very well-known, possibly due to its green aromatic floral chypre scent which is not common these days. Despite this, it is one of Tom Ford's best fragrances and has even received a 4-star from Luca Turin. One of the main notes in this fragrance is galbanum, which is an interesting note with intense green, bitter, and woody with some balsamic facets. Galbanum works very well with floral notes in this fragrance, creating a refined scent with great performance. I think this fragrance is discontinued, so if you happen to find a bottle, it's worth buying. If you enjoy this fragrance, you might also like Synthetic Jungle from Frederic Malle, which is even better. This is one of those fragrances that is so enjoyable that I want to smell my wrist again and again when wearing it. 8.5/10

I will start by saying I am a guy and even though this can lean very feminine, it is also dark and green. I love the entire Vert line with Boheme being my favorite. This one is very interesting to me. The Galbanum reminds me of Grey Flannel which I do not like at all. But, I cant get enough of this scent. It is a very 70's Chypre but it is so green and beautiful. I am wearing this today when it is in the mid 80's outside and this is gorgeous. The Vert line are the best green fragrances on the market in my opinion.

Opens with hyacinth soliflor! Very realistic. Also noticeable iris. The initial solo hyacinth note is quickly joined by a less remarkable (though still perfectly pleasant) background of galbanum (green, earthy), very faint iris, and quiet white florals. The hyacinth note remains nonetheless in the foreground, coming in waves of varying degrees of precision and intensity. Sometimes it is an imprecise hyacinth-y blue floral, sometimes it is clearly hyacinth. Definitely a "like".

It smells indeed like chanel nr 19 but more potent and deep.It is mesmerizing, like walking to a forest. I do not think this is masculine or feminine, I had many compliments, nobody told me I smell like a man. If you can find it, bye it, I think it is been discontinued, I do not know why, It was great!

The green floral feel of Galbanum and Vetiver insists on the whole surface. It has a strong scent that is typical of Tom Ford. The scent of taking a deep breath in the middle of the meadow after noon in midsummer.

Green and vegetal! Flower Stems? Is that the name? Synthetic jungle/nature is better than this one. However this is a second runner up for sure! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Strong fragrance of galbanum! Fresh, intense, full of dew, explosive at the opening with hyacinth, purple flowers and perhaps narcissus and jasmine. It becomes more woody and green but still soapy, acute. It has a distinctly feminine smell, early 80s, indolic, starched, shiny, full of makeup pencils and a strong, bitter, insolent and masculine attitude. Personally I miss a bit of smokiness here... Lively the first hour settles down softer, sweet and earthy but still noisy and powerful. I get a nice elegant and casual trail. Cooler and daytime but tough, combative and enjoyable in the colder months. A simple, straight galbanum that slaps me initially and that remains the center of attention until the drydown where I get a soft vetiver thread that slightly darkens the atmosphere. Super clean and scented old school. As a type, it reminded me of Zegna's Florentine iris. They both share the brightness and serenity of Sunday. Rather lasting. I feel ready, washed, dried and ironed like in a laundry. Bon!

Yuck. Once it settles down, it smells like sweaty B.O. Before it develops into a body-odor stench, it really reminded me of a mix of Estee Lauder's Cinnabar and Estee's Knowing. I'm sorry I bought a 5ml sampler of this :(

This is by far the best fragrance to wear on a rainy summer day. There is something about it that is clean, soapy, refreshing, and earthy, and aromatic. One day, I was simply bored with the citrus balmy Sole di Positano and decided to venture further into Tom Ford's private blend. Though I am typically a bit of a snob and generally don't look into Tom Ford as a fragrance house, I still wanted green and fresh and I just wasn't satisfied with Jacques Fath's Vers Le Sud or Ulrich Lang's Absu. I wanted a fragrance that would compliment cool, rainy weather that would tingle the nose, and rejuvinate the air. I envisioned a fragrance that one is captivated on a wet day outside The Met when you meet an old friend from a distance as they approach you and embrace you for that minute and those notes of galbunum, hyacinth, and cold wet grass. But not your typical grass. This grass has a vegetable quality. The top notes in the beginning remind me of the moment you pull grass from the soil. The transparency from soil to grass blade. That damp, dewy scent. This fragrance perfectly captures that. I don't really sense the vetiver in here. I honestly prefer my vetivers to be dirty and untamed. This is the dichotomy of that. Yet there is still a soil quality to it that's still elegant. I am a big fan of this for a summer fragrance....I highly recommend anyone to give this a try on a cold rainy day in May or June. I feel the chilled temperature keeps the fragrance around longer. Any arid, hot day would probably dissipate the fragrance.

I tested/wore this one today & I expected to love it because I love all versions of Chanel No 19. Well, it is in the same vein as No 19, BUT I don't like it. It smells just like Jacomo Silences to me (also similar, & often recommended as a cheaper alternative to No 19). Silences just doesn't work on me, I get a slightly unpleasant note of pungent BO type funk from Silences, & I also get it in Vert de Fleur. Silences & VdF (mis) behave on me in exactly the same way, I think it might be something to do with the vetiver... I don't think it's the perfume at fault, it's probably my chemistry/perception - & as ever, ymmv. Longevity is pretty good, I've washed my hands several times, & I can still smell it faintly after about 7 hours. I just don't think this is as well balanced & nicely blended (on me) as the Chanel. Ah well, I will happily just stick with No 19 - & save myself the Tom Ford price with this one. Edit: I have Chamade also, & I can't see any similarity. I don't get much florals at all in Vert de Fleur - which is odd, considering its name.

I was looking for a nice floral fragrance that I could feel comfortable wearing. The creamy smooth woody Galbanum makes this fairly gender-neutral. So I got a good deal and purchased a 50 ml. I think it will be warming in the Fall and Winter. I found a fragrance that is 90% same as this, and it adds a bit of freshness. It is Atelier Cologne Jasmine Angelique. It's jasmine and the same Galbanum note as found here, quality and performance about the same, and good discounts on eBay. I did a side by side comparison with Jasmine Angelique. Vert de Fleur has a bright, rich woody opening, with the florals. I'm thinking they may have used some aldehyes, I can't think of where else the brightness is comming from. This is 10% richer and more refined, but from the mid-drydown they become very close, jasmine and Galbanum vs Hyasinth and Galbanum. Jasmine Angelique is closer to gender-neutral. These are the two most floral fragrances I have in a large collection. Rating: 8/10 God bless. John 3:16

I find this one a little tough. I was sold on green and floral. But on skin to me I'm getting a bottom of the purse leathery lipstick note that I can't shake. The sweet floral is there. The touch of sour from the galbanum is there, the vetiver lingers in the back but it's surely there. But right up front I get nothing but the smell of the bottom of an old heavily used purse. Does not read as masculine at all which is fine with me. I wear a lot of femme floral scents. But this one offers no respite. Don't find this at all pleasing. It smells like a 65 year old woman covered in make up and various scented grooming and cosmetic products.

purchased this today from David Jones Sydney store and they have a plentiful supply. Opens very green,almost like a soapy green TF Azure Lime. It must be the bitter green galbanum and perhaps hyacinth,as previously advised, that I initially smell. Either way it shares a Ombre de Hyacinth vibe,bitter,green and floral. The floral notes are indeed indescript but definitely there. Once it settles down the vetiver base really comes to the fore.It does have that barbershop aura but I really like it. The base,for me,is almost like Creed Original Vetiver. Lovely and perfect for a warm spring or summer day. Highly recommended.

I love all the parts of this...I guess I like my green florals waxy, not crisp. To me the thick (but not sweet) hyacinth hearkens back to Chamade—I should dig out a sample to compare them. Maybe I just love galbanum? One of my absolute favorite scents is Le Temps d'une Fete, so this is clearly in my wheelhouse. To my nose I don't pick up the vetiver, which usually ends up as a screechy incense-like dry-down on my skin... It's not masculine to me, but I wouldn't be unhappy to smell it on anyone. It leaves a beautiful echo on clothes. Now I want to explore more of the ruinous Tom Ford Private Blends...

I don't believe anything compares to just how 'green' this is. This is a lush deep/dewy dark green. I believe I've seen other reviewers mentioning a "waxy"-ness here, and that is coming through for me as well. Unmistakably green through and through with a woodiness from the vetiver. The floral notes do reveal themselves about a couple hours into wear for me. A bouquet of forest wildflowers. Vert de fleur is art. I have been wearing a light spritz of this over my usual Stairway to Heaven.. lemme tell you, I think this cloud has ascended me to a new level. Heaven 🌅

Not on sale in Australia yet, but some stores have samples out. Initially it smells very green. After it has dried down I get a big, nondescript floral smell, that I quite liked. I thought to myself - yes, I need to purchase this! However after about half an hour a harsh, piney, almost spicy note dominated that reminded me of old, cheap after shaves from the 80's. Not really sure where this note comes from as the fragrance notes are limited. Perhaps if I did not make that connection to cheap after shave, I may have loved this.

This is more of a masculine scent with a bitter green opening. I can hardly detect any florals in it because of the strong soapy smell. I rarely find a Tom Ford fragrance that does anything for me. They seem to be more unisex than anything feminine. I identify as a woman and want to smell sweet, clean and sexy. I just don't seem to find anything he makes that grabs me. (Sorry, Tom.) I think you will survive without my business.

An homage to the bitter-ashy galbanum floral of yesteryear. Tom Ford manages to make it streamlined and translucent that it doesn't feel as dated. The florals are not as breathy and the drydown aren't as startling. At least compared to No. 19 or Vent Vert. Very nice to wear, shame it's not available anymore, but at the same time I can see why.

A couple of months after the first (3) release, now they finally have it in 2017... After all the anticipation this turned out not that special; it starts very green then hyacinth comes out and pretty much dominates. It reminds me of Gucci Envy mixed with The Revenge of Lady Blanche (Penhaligon's); on the skin it's a lot spicier/sharper.

This is undoubtedly masculine fragrance.It's raw and unapologetic.Green and soapy for sure.It creates a cozy and clean aura,lasts fo hours. If you always envied those who adore Grey Flannel by G Bean, but couldn't wear it yourself because it was too repulsive for you,then go for TG Vert Dr Fleur.

Starts of as freshly cut weeds , those that generally have a strong astringent juice. It then evolves into a very pleasant flower bed that could suit either men or women, but in my opinion it's as after a cold rain in mid spring, rather than a June garden.

I don't know why but Tom Ford has plucked this out of the 4 to be a Harrods' exclusive, so us Americans may or may not ever get to try it... On their website it mentions hyacinth and iris as part of the floral accord. Sounds beautiful.. I'm jealous
