Jinx

This is a nice floral fragrance with a very soapy beginning (I smell soapy cleanness, pleasant though, and lily-of-the-valley in its soapy version). Fruits smells in very pleasant thin hints. In about 5 min, the fragrance reveals its light chypre character.

Powdery grapefruit aldehyde. Not a category I'd considered before, but I'm not convinced it's worthwhile. The grapefruit is prickly, the powder is sweetened, and the aldehydes are buzzing my brain. I think there was a really good idea behind this, but on me it smells unfinished.

Once again, Tommi Sooni has managed to recapture the essence of a scent from a by-gone era. Jinx smells like those classic, aldehydic fragrances, merging ever so slightly into green chypre territory. I love this fragrance because it is slightly reminiscent of one of my favourite Summer fragrances, Diorella by Christian Dior. It has this beautiful, sparkling greeness, which feels like sunshine on the skin. The scent is further grounded by dry, earthy vetiver, oakmoss and labdanum, which are to blame for the chypre-like quality. Some may call this a mature fragrance, and while I agree that my tastes are in favour of such compositions, it's not a fragrance that young women should avoid. I find it easily likable and pleasantly inoffensive. Jinx is a fairly light and transparent scent, that wears relatively close to the skin. Unfortunately the lasting strength is similar in that it refuses to last any longer than a few hours. This was the only negative aspect I found while wearing Jinx. Although best suited to Spring and Summer, subtle hints of warmth created by the labdanum and fig, make this fragrance versatile enough to be worn during Autumn too. Jinx is marketed to women, but I personally think it could smell pleasant on a man's skin too. It's a bright and uplifting fragrance that I know I'll enjoy wearing during the warmer months. It could even be full bottle worthy.

I am Australian and this company is totally new to me. Would like to try this particular one as the notes are very interesting - will check out the Department stores to see who has it. Love the bottle - bit different from the rest.
