Island Life for Her

Island Life For Her has become my favorite summer fragrance. Sadly, it isn't long-lasting on my skin. The first spritz out of the bottle is so heavenly that it is worth reapplying throughout the day. How many fragrances really smell wonderful on the first spritz? It must be the star anise top note that makes Island Life smell unique to me. I first smelled this on a woman strolling through Walmart. I know, not a "glamourous" beginning! But she smelled so intensely, wonderfully, like "summer" that I followed her down the aisle to ask her what she was wearing! She was trailing a cloud of fragrance, so it must have been her skin chemistry that made it so intense. I wish it worked that way with mine, but I love it anyway. I do think the bottle is very unattractive. I only leave out a few fragrances at a time, and I don't enjoy looking at this one when it sits on my perfume tray. . Pretty bottles sell fragrance, and this one should be repackaged.

I'm in love with this fragrance! It seems every perfume that is island or beachy, has a suntan lotion or coconut vibe. Not this, but it still makes you think of an exotic getaway. This makes me feel flirty-sexy, not little black dress but more like almost sheer, strappy sundress with tan lines exposed. It's bright, uplifting and makes me smile. I bought a backup since it's so inexpensive.

This is so lovely, light and carefree, yet sweet and very feminine. Based on the notes I didn't think I would love it as much as I do. But I decided to purchase it based on some of the reviews here, and I like it a LOT! There is nothing spectacular or super unique about it, but it is a great every day scent that I enjoy way more than many other fragrances out there. It's a keeper.

I love this. I purchased it at Tommy Bahama many years ago, reminds me of Hawaii. Unfortunately, I recently replaced it, and they new bottle smells much different... less like tropical floral, and much more like ammonia 😭

Just received my bottle in the mail. It smells like a well-blended warm floral smell, kind of generic, but it's very pretty. I smell the peach blossom the most, and I love peach so it's enjoyable. The vanilla is not too prominent, but more of a light whisper in the base. The anise is almost undetectable to my nose. After it's worn for a while it melds with your skin to create a buttery musky smell, very nice, and probably would be very sexy on warm summer skin. As I am testing this in 30 degree weather, it is not very 'tropical' smelling, but more generic fruity-floral. I think this will bloom beautifully in the heat; I look forward to wearing it once the weather gets warmer and getting a different experience from it.

Another nice summer fragrance. Perfect name, Island Life with a beachy, warm feel. Will be more prominent during the summer and the warmth and floral will probably emanate a bit better. I bought this during colder weather but look forward to spritzing this one on during the summer.

Smells very tropical fruity, very similar to Mambo. I wish there was more anise... Way too sweet and 1 dimensional for me but I layered it with an earthy scent (Caron Eaux Fraiche) and it becomes much more interesting.

I like it but it shocked me it smells kinda generic like everyone else is saying but I think people should give it a chance it’s not a horrible scent. I have the roller ball. Gonna get the perfume soon!

Different but good! I like it on my wife... A sweet cheapy for the summer... Take it on vacation in you luggage so you don't worry about damaging your good stuff.

I like this a lot! The name is so fitting, definitely gives island vibes .... Beautiful dry down and an easy grab. Moderate performance overall.

Island Life is not sweet on me. The vanilla is subtle. Instead, what I mostly get is the spice. The notes say Star Anise, but on me, it smells like Allspice. Allspice and the prominent peach blossom, plus sandalwood (but I must be imagining that since it is not listed). So glad this works because I miss being able to wear most spicy scents in the heat of summer. Island Life really does smell like a romanticized version of a faraway place. I think of Bali Hai in the musical "South Pacific." Sort of a Hollywood version of a South Sea Island smell. Definitely, one to wear in the heat and humidity. So glad to have this gem for summertime, especially when I get olfactory fatigue from beachy and salty scents. Bonus - the bottle is really pretty. I like the horizontal ridges and the cap. Someone put real thought into this fragrance, despite its being a Tommy Bahama cheapie. Worth buying if you see it. As peeachediva says below, it is like Christan Dior's Dune, at least to a point. Island Life is cheerier than Dune. Dune is so serious and dour; Island Life smiles.

This is not my zeitgeist of perfumery. And I don’t recognize of the notes listed in the spray on my wrist. But! It’s nicely blended and does communicate upper middle class woman on vacation. Yacht rock in a bottle. The vanilla is very tastefully done. It’s not the obnoxious salt and straw ice cream cone vanilla that so many perfumes now seem to have. It’s almost almondy. I really love the bottle. The ridges make it easy to grip and the sprayer nozzle is a jaunty orangey red. I don’t know why more designers don’t play around with the nozzle color — it’s an easy way to distinguish your bottle. @peeachediva is right that there is a sandy moment that is reminiscent of Dune in this. But it’s a very pale imitation.

I have had Christian Dior DUne before, and to me, this smells exactly like it. If you want the smell of Dune but a lot less expensive, this is a great bet. It smells good, and it lasts a long time. What I like is that it smells like the outdoors, and that there is no coconut in it. A lot of times scents with the name 'Bahama' or any of the islands have coconut in it. This is not. I believe it can be worn in the winter as well, because of the outdoor scent. I don't really get any of the anise at all, which I would loe to have more of, but it is a beautiful perfume. Outdoors, windy. A little goes a long way...on me. Worth a try.

Island Life is dominated by a lovely peach blossom note which is clean and floral. There's only a bit of anise; it adds a subtle and effective spiciness. Even the vanilla is muted in this fragrance; it's pleasant and soft. There are some other notes that aren't listed here, maybe a bit of pear and some other light florals. Island Life reminds me of an elegant, minimalist version Fancy Love. Despite the name, Island Life isn't a tropical fragrance and I would not class it as an Oriental. It's a lovely, simple and spicy floral - linear, but good longevity.

Well I wanted to love this, but I don't. There is a note in here that translates like saw dust on me. Maybe the peach blossom. Opening is bright and crisp, then the mahogany smell, ending is fruity and warm. Think caramel grapefruit, smells better than I would imagine that tastes. All in all, very polite perfume. Easily worn to office, not fussy, or overbearing. Has a hint of being familiar. I think I will enjoy the bottle but not a must have or repeat purchase.

I just don't care for the generic drydown but it's not horrible. peach vanilla tad spice, powder. but dry down smells generic.
