Maritime for Him

This is a favorite. First the bottle speaks for itself. Secondly, the price is unbelievable for the quality. Third, it is so masterfully made. Fourth, there are not any annoying synthetics, unless you’ve got something against Abercrombie Fierce. The same perfumer that made Fierce also made Maritime, and many sniffers have noticed a similarity. So, here you have an Abercrombie type of scent appeal, and a Tommy Bahama aquatic vibe in harmony. Unfortunately, the Abercrombie element can be a bit loud. So, the harmony leans more to the free time and free life vibe. It works more for a party on the beach, but I think you could swing it with a self-confident business casual style. Although it may be too much for working in some more focused places. This scent works good for young men or for the guy who is grown up, but keeps his youthful spirit. This used to be higher on my list of favorites, but a better alternative is Chrome Pure. It has a similar style that is less loud and more versatile.

Smells like Fierce at the beginning but the dry down gives me aquatic floral vibes that go so well on a summer day or night.

First, to talk about Maritime Tommy Bahama, we must take into account that it is Eau De Cologne, i.e. the lightest version of fragrances. However, this cologne has the DNA of the legendary Fierce Abercrombie & Fitch fragrance, but in a very weak form and with almost no similarity. There is also some slight similarity to Legend Eau de Parfum Montblanc, both of which have deeper and higher gradation in aromatic notes. The fragrance here is not deep and not rich in notes, but it is a light summer cologne and is similar to most of the blue fragrances on the market. It is almost free of the refreshing citrus, sea water and salt notes that characterize most summer fragrances. Suitable for daily use with slightly below average performance, suitable for mature men and for morning and afternoon use, the scent of fragrance is predominantly clean. I really like the Maritime collection bottles, the fragrance bottle is very well made and looks valuable, and has a generous capacity of 125ml. Conclusion: An ordinary fragrance that does not deserve to be in your perfume library unless you are a fragrances collector only.

Call me crazy, but this isn’t far off from a cheaper, edc strength version of Creed Himalaya. Maritime has a more aquatic, slightly floral opening. However in the dry down they are surprisingly similar with the obvious caveat CH is richer and has a much better, longer lasting sillage. Maritime is slightly more powdery and rather obviously gets by with 100% synthetics. Other than that weird analogy this does have typical cologne performance. Big opening that dissapates quickly followed a few hours of lingering freshness before drying down and disappearing. Great for evenings, or for the office if you don’t mind its short lifespan. What my aunt would call a “church” scent. In other words, it’s not as summer weekend-only focused as some other Tommy B scents. In the end it does what a cologne should do, provide a quick blast of freshness without loitering.

At first I disliked this due to the opening, which immediately reminded me of JPG ‘Le Male’, which I cannot stomach. But after the initial burst, this fragrance quickly becomes its own entity and is surprisingly agreeable. Wet and woody, linen-y, and just a little screechy, I can understand comparisons to Abercrombie & Fitch’s infamous ‘Fierce’, though Maritime is far more mellow, and obviously an aquatic through and through. It is surprisingly evocative of a sea-soaked deck. Makes a good casual social frag. No one note really shines brighter than others; like most marine musks, Maritime is a tad overly blended and synthetic. INSANE longevity, however. Still smelled traces of this following a shower more than 12 hours after application.

This is an easy choice for summer nights. The pink pepper gives the aquatic a little bit of spice for nighttime wear. It could also be worn in the day but if so, better with a button shirt and pants rather than a t-shirt and shorts. As a 40-something male, I'd say this is slightly more mature and might be better matched on men over 30 than young guys at the beach/clubbing. If you're going for fresh but mature, this is a good call. Packaging 6/10: Pretty Cool Cleat & Line cap. It's floral, and citric, and green, and spicy, and woody, with some musk. Everything but the kitchen sink in here, but it all blends together in a nice, fresh, easy to wear summer fragrance. One of the first houses to really start using the now highly popular cleary sage note in aromatic aquatic fragrances. I wouldn't pick this for a special occasion or a date night, but if you want to smell good on a random warm afternoon, this would be a sensible choice. It's affordable and well received, and would be a good choice for someone new to fragrances.

Basically a dupe/alternative to Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce. Not my favorite DNA personally, but loved by many. If I had to describe it simply I'd say it smells like an aquatic Jolly Rancher with some florals. A bit scratchy, but overall very nice. Better than Montblanc Legend EDT, in my opinion... Way less synthetic. Performance isn't great though, 3-4 hours maybe. But then again, neither is the performance of A&B Fierce (which is also an EDC). Fierce is just smoother. Can't complain for the price. It's good stuff!

There's always been something about this scent I couldn't place but finally did, it has a passing similarity to Creed's Himalaya in it's muskiness. It's been over 2 years of "this smells like something I remember...." It's like a more synthetic, less powerful Himalaya dupe. I like it but sadly Tommy B refuses to make any fragrance in a concentration that can last more than a few hours. Although for what they are, and their prices through various discount outlets, they work in a pinch during the hottest months.

If you like Nautical décor the bottle is great. The cap shaped in a cleat with a traditional rope figure eight knot is great. Tommy Bahamas is hit or miss to me. I love St Kitts and St Barts was a no for me. Maritime is somewhere in the middle. It is a soft aquatic that comes across slightly floral. It is very clean and fresh. Easy choice for a summer day. Unfortunately it’s longevity leaves a lot to be desired. I would recommend but go heavy on the sprays.

Definitely a Le Male vibe at the opening, but that gives way to the lavender, pink pepper and florals. As it drys, the woods come through ...within 30 minutes...and this becomes a casual, mellow warm weather scent. A hair powdery along the way, but pleasant and somewhat musky. Don’t get the Legend comparisons; it’s not that spicy. Solid buy under $20. Performance is average for the house which is to say, average.

Not a bad aquatic fragrance. At first I didn't think much of this fragrance but it has improved a little bit, IMO. This is a softer aquatic, no crisp notes and suitable for most summer situations. It is safe and so it can be considered a little boring but not displeasing. Doesn't project well but lasts as a skin scent for more than four hours. Good price and a safe buy.

We just got it in our store last week and i have tried it about three times on. It is alot like mont blanc and all those but a bit softer,slighty powder smell to it. I had to spray alot for a good projection but most freshies you have to. Great for a chill day on the weekend, by the pool, very casual . 6 to 8 sprays needed if your outside

Less aquatic and more... I don't know...marine fougère? Really pleasant. Something about it feels like a cousin to Blue Jeans to me, even though they don't smell alike at all. I might buy another bottle someday.

Smells like a sweeter, more tropical Fierce. Super super good juice and highly underrated. Not even remotely a “dupe”. Typical fragrantica people having no clue what they’re talking about.

This is my third offering from this house. Awesome scent wish it came in stronger concentrations, although not bad for edc. Its light and fruity but masculine great for spring and summer

Revisiting this after giving it more of a chance. It is quite sweet and creamy, a little peppery. A good summer budget cologne. Good strength for what you pay for.

Its a classical fresh marine saline scent with low-to-moderate performance. Nice for the beach.

When considering a Tommy Bahama fragrance, expect to be transported straight to the tropics. These scents are made for vacation vibes, summer heat, and relaxed moments. At the time of this review, Tommy Bahama offers a 1oz sampler set featuring Maritime for Men, Maritime Voyage, and Maritime Journey. I felt compelled to compare the three based on my personal experience and replicate the same comparison review for each scent. I first encountered Maritime for Men at a department store and was immediately intrigued. The salty top notes and fresh aquatic vibe made me think I had found my new summer signature. However, a major drawback with all of these fragrances is that they are colognes, and their performance often doesn't match that of other scents in a similar price range. Knowing that department store prices for designer fragrances are usually inflated, I chose to purchase online and opted for the three-bottle sampler set. On first spray, the top notes of each delivered exactly what I expected. However, after 30 minutes, any projection had faded significantly, leaving only a close-to-the-skin scent. This was consistent across all three bottles. That said, fragrance performance can vary by skin chemistry—your experience might be different, and you may enjoy longer-lasting results. Though they share a similar DNA, each of the three flankers offers a slightly different take: Maritime for Men is the most balanced of the trio. It opens with a fresh and slightly spicy note, transitions to a soft aquatic heart, and dries down to a woody, clean musk. It's casual, clean, and easygoing—perfect for a day at the beach or laid-back summer wear. Maritime Voyage is the crispest and most youthful. Bright green apple and lemon give the opening a zesty, energetic feel. It smells like a cool ocean breeze with a fruity twist. This one is playful and often compared to other mass-appealing fresh scents like Nautica Voyage, though I find it smoother and more refined. Maritime Journey is deeper, spicier, and has more aromatic character. Cardamom and juniper add maturity and depth, making it slightly more suited for evening wear or transitional seasons. It’s less bright than Voyage but stays true to the fresh, nautical theme. I genuinely love the scent of each one at first spray, which only makes the quick fade more disappointing. All three scents are similar however when directly compared they are distinct. Choose Maritime for Men if you’re looking for a balanced, fresh aquatic scent with woody undertones. Choose Maritime Voyage if you prefer bright, citrus-forward fragrances with broad appeal and a slightly better projection. Choose Maritime Journey if you want a fresh scent with a bit more depth, spice, and personality. I’m looking forward to testing these on 90-degree days to see if heat helps with longevity. Before the dry down, each one ranks very high in my preferences. I truly enjoy these fragrances, but it’s difficult to recommend something that disappears so quickly.

Very light aquatic, lavender masculine type with the classic peppery, citrus opening and woodsy drydown. Just a boring, linear fragrance throughout. Woods do not shine at all when it becomes a skin scent. Gets a bit on the floral side towards the end but nothing to make note of. Almost smells fake. This fragrance is on the cusp of being something interesting but it's just watered down to the point where everything melds together. This fragrance has a saltiness (I imagine to maintain the aquatic theme) to it that just makes this nasty, sweaty, almost musty smell when it's really warm and humid out. Wouldn't wear this past 80 degrees. Performance and sillage are mediocre. 3-4 hours and maybe a meter if not a little less. This most likely will not offend anyone though. It's as plain Jane as you can get for summer scents besides the aquatic notes that wear off after an hour or so. Scent: 6/10 Performance: 4/10 Sillage: 5/10 Bottle: 9/10 Uniqueness: 3/10 Price: 7/10

TB Maritime For Him Silage: 5.8/10 Longevity: 5.3/10 Scent Profile: 6.5/10 Maritime is the baseline for what a summer fragrance should be. Fresh, invigorating, and uplifting. It starts off with a very heavy pink pepper and bergamot accord before transitioning into a deep lavender note, which carries the fragrance for 15 minutes. Then, the sage, water lily, and violet transform the middle notes into a slightly feminine but also very masculine heart, which lasts for an hour and a half. Then, the fragrance finishes with a musky and woody finish, which smells kind of like a beach. I could wear this all day everyday. Only problem is that the longevity and silage leave much to be desired. 6.3/10

Maritime is a Spring/Summer fragrance very mellow no beast by any means but quite enjoyable it gives a slight vibe of Fierce by A&F one of my favorites fragrances of all times. I received from "My Yellow Diamond" this fragrance as a gift set with the other 2 flankers Journey and Deep Blue, and to my nose this one ranks 2nd on the line-up with Deep Blue being 1st. Longevity - 2-3 hours to expect of a summer fragrance must re-apply. Sillage - arm's length for about 1 hour turning into a skin scent afterwards. Likeabliity - 7/10 (crowd pleaser) I am probably placing this on my out of the shower rotation and testing it also on the highest of heat during summer.

The best one in the Maritime line. Bold and outgoing, with a rich 'tropical' sweetness -- well balanced notes, and linear all the way through with a powderiness towards the end of the dry down. Longevity is around 4-5 hours on my skin (over a day on clothes). I've received quite a few compliments with this one. It is not a "modern" fragrance, and as such, it does not smell like your typical mainstream fragrances of today, so I think more people are intrigued by it for that reason. In the 'casual aquatic' genre, I find this to be a much better alternative to Acqua Di Gio, as it has more depth and complexity and lasts a bit longer.

#134 in my "Tour de Fragrance" and I like this Tommy Bahama scent for exactly what is it is, an inexpensive, use-as much-as-you-like summertime freshie that everyone will appreciate. Definitely has a bit of Fierce and Le Male vibe as others have noted, and a bit of the aquatic of Ultra Blue, but the slight spiciness and musk eliminates that sour smell I always get from Le Male. I won't wear Le Male, this is better than Fierce for less, and I gave away the Polo because it was such an underperformer. This one I'm keeping. You won't do better for a $20 bottle of anything out there.

The opening is nice and pleasant, but the dry down has too much of a pepper, musk, and ambroxan smell. Pretty harsh and spicy for what should be an easy going beach/casual fragrance. The other Maritime flankers, Journey and Deep Blue, are much much better.

A cheaper costing but also smelling version of legend. You can tell its trying to be in the legend family but the best thing its good for is a room spray.

Fruitier take on the Fierce DNA. Also very versatile. Can be used day/night, hot/cool.

Meh. I have 5 Tommy Bahama fragrances and this is my least favorite by far. Simply put, it's boring. Typical ocean aquatic that fades to nothing almost as soon as it's out of the bottle. If you're looking for something like that, stick with Nautica Voyage which has a lot more depth and interest and actually lasts a while.

Dries down to a very floral scent. Reminds me a lot of those decorative bathroom soaps that people use. The violet and lavender are very prominent. I'm actually surprised that most people are rating this as a male scent. To me this is very feminine.

Tommy Bahama fragrances are to be taken with a grain of salt, sea salt i guess. They are not groundbreaking fragrances and are overpriced. I buy their clothing so i use my flip side gift cards to cover most of the cost of their fragrances, so i get a really good break on price. As for the cologne, a fantastic, heavy, well-designed bottle. The juice? Salty, fresh, a bit fruity, sweet and salty. To me it is a more mature version of liz claiborne curve. A fragrance i really liked back in the day, and still like but dont wear. The ingredients in maritime are better so you get a more natural smell, although by no means very natural. I would not buy this at full retail but discounted it is fine for what it is. I am in the dead of winter here in PA so not really the appropriate season but around the house for now it is nice. This will be pleasant in the warmer months, but, its a fragrance made by a company that is all about the island lifestyle, so what do you expect?

I purchased this the day it was released at the TB store in Honolulu, Hawaii while on vacation. I was looking for something new for the trip and fell for this one. To me it starts out very fresh with bergamot and hints of a mix of florals. It feels very fresh and clean vs aquatic to me. About midway through there is a hint of ambergris mixed with the top notes and then it dries down into a softer, more subtle Abercrombie Fierce. I know many will say this has been done with Fierce and Mont Blanc Legend but there are two things that make me prefer this. 1) The floral top notes make lingering appearances throughout giving this a very Beachy/Fierce smell and 2) there is something soft in the drydown where it's like a cashmere feeling. I've been reaching for this on cold days in Texas and it works. For an EDC I get all day power if sprayed on a sweater or shirt. Really enjoying this despite similarities to others.

When I reviewed Maritime Voyage, I mentioned that it has a "very shadowy hint of Montblanc Legend EdP." With Maritime, it's more than a shadowy hint. It's very similar to Legend EdP and Ed Hardy Skull & Roses. Beautiful burst of lavender that settles down into a creamy woody base. As I understand, all the Tommy Bahama fragrances are cologne strength, not EdT. As such, I got about 4 hours longevity which isn't bad for a cologne. Projection was moderate at first and then quickly retreats. Maritime's performance was much better than Maritime Voyage's, making Maritime more versatile. It would work best on a hot summer day or evening.

Definitely an Abercrombie Fierce dupe. Ed Hardy Skulls and Roses also! This would be perfect for some guy in the younger age generation throughout middle/high school. Perfectly priced on frag-net. Overall it’s outdone and a bit boring but I must say it’s pleasant and will definitely be an easy grab for daily wear. Would I repurchase? Maybe not because I already own Ed Hardy Skull and Roses and have owned Fierce so many times it’s insane. I am no longer a Fierce hype boy any longer the older I get. Given to me as a Valentines gift from my sister so I will cherish and use ever single drop regardless💙

Reminds me a lot of Polo Ultra Blue, which suggests this might have been the template for that one. Has the same Ambertonic and sea salt accord, blended with a faint brushing of green basil and vague floral tones, although I think Maritime is a little sweeter. People are comparing it to Legend and Fierce and it likely has similarities to those as well - this is pretty much your standard generic aquatic. As it dries down the quality of materials is revealed to be a bit lower than Lauren's, so if you're into this type of thing and want an upgrade, look for the RL version.

Pleasant, playful, floral arm-chair notion of maritime scene, rendered in aroma chemicals, courtesy of Firmenich. It does impart a wave sensation from the energy of the top notes to the base notes. In the dry down, a salty driftwood base grounds the synthetic violet leaf accord. Kudos for a composition that performs well on hot tropical days and warm/mild nights. P.S. The blue canvas duffel bag included in the AUD 49 purchase is actually pretty good. So, the fragrance could be said to come with the purchase of the duffel bag. A good bang-for-buck deal.

AKA MB Legend Intense. So... I love the Legend/Fierce vibe, but I already own so many similar scents (e.g. Skulls and Roses, Curve Sport, Ecko Untld (the newer red bottle), Mankind Ultimate, B&BW Whitewater Rush, Jordan Flight Sport, etc), that purchasing this would be beyond reduntant. It is a lovely scent though, so if you don't already own any of the above, then don't hesitate! Excellent projection and longevity :) I'm guessing it will be hitting the discount stores soon, and if so, it will be a dynamite $20 blind buy

I use this interchangeably with Maritime Journey so the review is very similair. I do enjoy the Journey just a bit more. A decent fresh scent. Doesn't last long so frequent reapplication may be required. I use this mostly when I'm on vacation in the Carribean. It seems to shine better there than stateside. Not bad for the price. Does exactly what one could expect unless you have high end hopes. I just wish it was an EdP. Maybe it would last longer.

Fiercely aquatic, like a lemon shark. Sure it can do damage to the right sized fish, but it won’t pull in the best fish if you catch my drift. Kinda turns floral-ly after a while. Inn-offensive, but you might not be turning heads the way you would with the OG fierce. At best, you’re in your 40s, own a boat, and can occasionally be seen with John Daily at your local Tommy Bahamas store

At first this drag smells like it could be named "Mont Bland Legend Aqua." It's quite nice actually, but would never pay retail for it. Once it dries down, it becomes a bit odd to my nose, smelling similar to clubman pinaud. I will pick this up when it hits Ross or something.

When this dries on paper, it is seriously the closest thing to Abercrombie fierce than anything else I've ever smelled. Many things are similar (Marc ecko 72, Mont blanc legend, Kenneth Cole mankind ultimate, Jimmy Choo ....) but maritime is the closest.

Amaze-balls!! Love love love. Lasts a long time on the skin in comparison to part Tommy Bahama releases :) This one would be a real contender in one's collection. And the bottle's dope as hell

If Fierce and Chrome Legend had a baby. Like an aquatic fierce. Moderate projection. Last about 6-7 hrs. Great clean work scent. Or for anytime.

This smells like a fresh, dense, deep and refined aquatic. Very masculine. This should get you noticed. Blended good and Underrated

Clean and fresh, spicy, but doesn't remind you of grandpa, citrus and aquatic. On the softer side for a man's fragrance.

The pink pepper gives this a hard to breathe kind of vibe. It reminds me of Fierce. It’s like an improvement of Fierce.

Not awful but not my cup of tea either. Lavender is definitely not a scent for me.
