Impact Intense

If you've tried the original Impact, this to me is the OG plus a bit of Stronger With You - I've tried Layton before and I don't think this is all that close to Layton (which is much more vanillic to me, and the apple notes don't really come across the same to me). This amps up the sweet apple of the original in the beginning, then quickly reveals that sweet-spicy chestnut accord from SWY that is trending in men's perfumery now. I wouldn't say the chestnut is the exact same smell as SWY, that one is really a lot more sweet and warm, this one is very similar though, a bit more resinous and woody from the supporting notes. This then progresses to the synthetic woody "cedar" base of the original with some residual sweetness from the amber. → If you have ever smelled the original, you would know that there is this transparent, a bit sharp yet very clean smelling synthetic woods type of smell that is common in modern fragrances - even though I say it is synthetic, I don't mean to say it smells bad. In fact, I love synthetic notes and the woodiness in this one is just so captivating! I didn't like it much at first but I grew to love it. Performance: I don't really care about performance in any fragrance personally but this lasts quite long, 7 to 8 hours is easy. I sometimes get 10 hours too. Projects moderately for the first 2 to 3 hours, when the captivating chestnut-amber is in full force, then sits a bit closer but still very much noticeable to those around you. Overall, I really enjoyed this release and out of my collection of 46 full bottles and a bunch of decants/samples, including a mix of niche and designers, the original Impact and this Intense version have been getting the most wear recently. They're both really quite versatile and easy to wear and they are my recent favorites. I managed to get the original at around 26 USD, and this one for around 58 USD. For the price I got them both, I would say they're really great buys and I thoroughly recommend this underrated line.

Just received this now and sprayed some on. Bergamot in the opening is very short-lived, but gives a fresh vibe to it. There's a ton of sweet apple that dries down with chestnut and amber, on the forefront of the woods in the base. There's a hint of cardamom in the middle that peaks through; labdanum gives off the impression of leather, and there's some powderiness somewhere in there, but not the DH kind of powderiness. It's very subtle and works well with the rest of the notes to create a tremendously cozy blend. The cardamom becomes more pronounced in the drydown (+3hours), and is a super interesting presence, giving it a slightly peppery/fresh lift. Really masterfully done! All in all, it's a very rounded and pleasant scent; no rough edges around this! This is an overall pretty sweet scent (interestingly more so in the middle than in the base), and I'd assume overspraying would be quite cloying. It's going to be appropriate in the cold weather and/or on a date or out to clubbing, or if you're going to snuggle up on a cold night, definitely nothing majorly formal. At first I thought of it as a rather linear fragrance as the initial sweetness wasn't leaving room to discern notes. But as I gave it time, it started to develop oh so beautifully! The drydown is particularly charming, and I can imagine this is going to be a compliment getter. I'd go as far as saying there's a certain uniqueness to it, in the current world of headache-inducing, unimaginative, loudly sweet fragrances. Would I miss it if I didn't have it in my collection? Absolutely! Is this a safe blindbuy? Yes! Would I buy again when this bottle runs out? Am going to give it some more try before settling on that. Sillage and longevity seem to be great so far, as well. Also important to note, if you're buying the 1.7oz bottle, you're not going to have the travel decanter that comes with the 3.4oz bottles.

Ok ... Where do I start? This is a VERY good fragrance. I agree with previous reviewer who said that it can be applyed all year long as long as you control de trigger. Opening is kinda weird (not in an awful way) because the nose gets crazy trying to identify all the burst of smells in this composition. The Apple is great, sweet caramelized type of apples and the chestnut is gorgeous. That's why people tend to identify it more for "Autumn-Winterish" seasons and I totally get it for the cozy holiday vibes and all but IT DOESNT MEAN that you can't rock it the rest of the year. The "weirdness" on the opening to me lasts like 10 minutes and then all the smells settle and encompass themselves to their proper position and "role-plays". Another think I'd like to add is that the brand and the bottle might be misleading getting people to think that this is a Sporty Fresh Aquatic Kind of fragrance, WHICH IS NOT! Is Spicy, Sweet and have that special "Barbershop" kind of vibe but very subtle. In my skin this lasted more than 6 hours! (10-12 sprays including clothes) And I live in the Caribbean with hot weather, although I work in office AC environments. People around like the smell but fail to identify that is my perfume. They think is a candle or a wall plug-in LoL but that doesn't mean its bad at all. Last but not least, this DOESN'T smell like PDM LAYTON at all... Maybe a lil of the apple/bergamot mix in the begginning but it fades away in 10 mins. It does give the HUGO BOSS Bottled series of frags type. I just paid like $42 for a 100mL bottle and is a BANGER for bucks paid. I BLIND BOUGHT THIS and Im NOT Dissappointed at ALL.

The gentleman below has it pretty much spot on. Thank you, adytzyca, for your review. Over the past month I have tested a number of PDM fragrances, Layton being among them. I definitely see why Impact Intense has been compared to Layton. The scent profile is there, but it is less dense than, or as luscious as, Layton. I wholeheartedly prefer PDM's Layton to Tommy Hilfiger's Impact Intense, but understand that the latter is certainly not a clone of the PDM fragrance. What is magical about this fragrance, however, is that it also has a great deal more of the Stronger With You DNA. Little of Layton and a lot more of Stronger With You in a single bottle, with amazing performance - I am getting at least 12 hours. Impact Intense is one of the most beautiful fragrances I have in my collection. Thrilled to have a bottle, which is quite unique in appearance and it includes a travel spray hidden in the cap (only available with the 100ml. bottles). I thought that was a nice touch. I can tell you that it will receive plenty of wear from me in autumn, winter and spring. We're in the middle of a scorching South African summer, and this fragrance won't be ideal for the 35 degrees that Durban is experiencing today. Impact Intense is lighter than both Layton and Stronger With You, but still not compatible with high temperatures. It is made for cooler days and seasons. No question this is the best Tommy Hilfiger fragrance I have come across, and is well worth investing in.

#FirstImpression I really dig this scent. I was skeptical at first, but after getting to try it on... I ended up buying myself a bottle. Definitely go for Impact Intense and not the original Impact. This is a sweet and spicy fragrance, with some woody notes. I could pick up notes such as sandalwood, cardamom and red apple. This fragrance is safe to wear in autumn and winter - and on cool spring days. You can wear it day and night. It's a big NO for the hot summer days we have in South Africa. Places you can safely wear it to: the office or other day time activities. You can also wear it on date night or nights out - although it is not the ideal fragrance, compared to what's out there on the market. It is a new fragrance and that means the scent isn't too common (like Versace Eros), so there's an element of novelty around it. Provisional rating: 7.5 out of 10* *Rating may be revised, depending on how many compliments it get me from the ladies.

Nice. Quite impressive in the opening at least, though I don't get a huge burst of juicy red apple or whatever. It's maybe more like mushy, lightly caramelised apple, by which I definitely do not mean toffee apples. Anyway it's no kind of slap in the face. The fragrance has some gravitas, though the performance is unexceptional. I don't know Layton but this is vaguely reminiscent of a couple of fragrances I've smelt that people say resemble it. I'm not sure I'd have picked up on that without looking for it though. The woody dry-down is, yes, increasingly cedary, but on the way there, I am also reminded of the dry-downs of By the Fireplace and Bentley Absolute. It's not as smoky, sugary, nutty, deep, complex, authentic or impressive as BtF or simply woody like the Bentley, but comparisons can be drawn. This would indeed be a solid, potentially versatile cool-weather choice for evening and probably day wear.

bright opening, lovely crisp red apple note with lots of woods. opening reminds me of the original kilian apple brandy (not the "on the rocks" one) and naturally layton. but then takes a really spicy and oudy route, because of akigalawood. where it smells closer to some fragrances like cdg blackpepper. this is where the fragrance peaks in terms of sillage and noticeability. slowly dies down to an apple-y, nutty and creamy amber. niche quality work in blending and creating it, yet this smells so designer. don't suppose I will wear this fragrance frequently but I genuinely think this is a great and original fragrance for such small price. projects for about 2 hours then dies down to a personal bubble for 4-5 more hours. you'll get approximately 6-7 hours of this fragrance.

Its pretty good designer scent. Smells fruity and blue. Lots of cedar and amber, a bit of chestnut and cardamom. It does smell like a mall fragrance. Though subjective, its actually exactly what i would imagine "Tommy Hilfiger" stores to smell like, much like Fierce is for Abercrombie and Fich (even though these 2 dont smell similar). Its young leaning, about 15-30 years old, casual, mass pleasing smell. I do like it, but nothing to wow me about. Could be a good dumb reach. Maybe ill buy if it hits discounters for 20-30 USD. For that retail price i believe i can find better. Performance is about 6 hours, sillage is average. It is versatile, maybe i would only not use it in a very hot day.

Great value pick-up. Less than $40USD gets you a great smelling, reasonable performer that occupies similar airspace to the Layton/Boss Bottled Intense family, whilst skirting into 1 million Royal and a touch of SWY vibes... The reviewer below (@gogiciano) put it well by saying that it has bits of many others, but is its own fragrance. Hard to do, these days. And in the budget space, to boot. Performance isn't anything to write home about, but it also isn't weak. Very versatile, and I can't see any reason why this couldn't be an every day frag, save for maybe the hot weather. Not something I would expect from a Tommy frag, but a nice little addition to the collection.

10/10 Totally worth it, you get the niche quality for a designer or even lower price, if you have the opportunity to buy this fragrance don't miss out on it. Mature and manly it easily adds 5 years to your vibe, the wood and spiciness on this scent will make people turn their heads when you pass by. This one is never in stock and I finally got it after waiting a year. The opening is on the sweeter side, but as it dries down it’s all about the woods, you get a little bit of the cedar pencil shaving smell but not as heavy as Bentley colognes. For a Tommy Hilfiger fragrance it is near niche quality. Performance is right on too. Not a beast but it last and leaves a nice scent trail. Please note some say it is very sweet, that last about 15 minutes then its off to the woods. For me this is an easy 8.5 out of 10 all around scent but is made for cooler environments but would also be fine in air conditioning or office/church!

I’ve found that Tommy Hilfiger quietly has some real nice stuff - and this is no exception. At first spray, I’m reminded of the resin and dustiness of Tauer L’air du desert marocain. The beautiful, subtle sweetness of the cardamom and chestnut create such a cozy smell - while the cedar holds as the backbone. This is honestly a pretty impressive scent - likely one of my favorite 2021 releases. If you slapped a parfum de Marley label on this, I don’t think anyone would bat an eye. Highly, highly recommended - and probably the best/one of the best releases of 2021 (as of June 21) 7/10

It has been growing on me the last couple of days. Smells like a much more expensive fragrance. Performance is good. Also, I gotta say women really like it. In my opinion, this one is versatile enough to be wore in the summer if you don't overspray it. At first, I wasn't convinced about the "incense" note, but the smell is really good and complex overall. Suitable for anyone who likes woody and warm blue fragrances, but with a twist; however, some people tend to smell it either "youthful" or "mature". I paid $45 for it, but even at $90, it's worth it. Try it!

Holy crap! This smells so good! The apple opening is prominent (but not sweet) and dries down to a warm spicy woody scent. Very masculine, I absolutely love it! I don't see any resemblance to Layton on my newbie nose though, I can be wrong (tested it side by side in a department store) but it's damn amazing! Lasts about 6-8 hrs on my skin on average and lasts about a day or more on my clothes. My only gripe is that it does not project much, I still need to do more tests though. Overall 9.5/10!

This stuff is great for the price. It starts off with a lot of apple but quickly goes into a slightly sweet, woody, and spicy direction. The woods and cardamom in this remind me of the way they mix together and smell in Le Male Le Parfum. The fragrances don't smell the same but if your nose can pick those notes out then you'll understand what I'm talking about. It's an amazing pick up for $40 and I'll be wearing it quite a bit in the foreseeable future.

I really like this one, I get hints of apple, chestnut and amber sprinkled across a base of strong cardamom. The cardamom comes across similarly to the cardamom in le male le parfum imo, which is a really enjoyable take on cardamom. The projection is great usually last 4 hrs+. The longevity is eternal I have to wash it off before the skin scent fades, and the scent profile is top notch. Looking forward to cooler weather to better check this one out.

On me, this is a woody, sweet, warm and smooth perfume. Can't smell the apple much (I hoped it was stronger). It's not fresh but it's quite likeable with good longevity. I find that it's quite generic and it smells a lot like several middle eastern perfumes out there. I do like the travel spray in the cap - great idea. Overall I'm a bit disappointed but it's a like from me. *Update* This is smooth and well blended and I think it could be a grower.

Pretty darn good! Strong right out of the box too. Definitely get a red apple vibe, and some heavy woods. Not too much more than that but it’s simple and good! The chestnut isn’t like stronger with you absolutely or anything, but it’s very suitable for almost any occasion and daily wear. Even in the heat of summer, I’m cool with it! 8.5/10 scent 9/10 longevity (compared to average scents) 7.5/10 sillage 8.5/10 overall. It’s very likable

This has nothing to do with any of the "This perfume reminds me of" fragrances. All the mentioned fragrances are sweet. This one is not that sweet at all. Most of the sweetness comes from the top notes and fades away after around 30 minutes. The drydown is very smokey and mature smelling. By far the most smoky fragrance I have. In the drydown it becomes quite incensey. It is, however, very lovely.

This might be one of the most surprising cheap blind buys for me in the last couple of years, and absolutely shocked that this is a Tommy frag. Very, very close to Layton...a little less sweet and a bit more balsamic, but the apple and cardamom makes it very close, which is insane considering this is ~$50 for 100mls. Easily the best frag Tommy has put out, and it's really not even close.

It's actually my first fragrance with apple note. As the first spray on my wrist it smelled like pure apple with heavy bergamot at first but then it became like apple pie cooked nicely in a woodsy-smoky oven with some spice. I still can smell and it amazes me after 7 hours. I paid around 65-70 USD for 100 +4ml with the pocket bottle it is a fair deal for me. Definitely worths the money.

This is not as sweet as SWYI but has that same chestnut in it. This is more dry and more woodsy. The woody notes and (maybe resins?) remind me of Bentley Absolute. Apple note fades away pretty quick and more spicy, balsamic notes take over together with lots of wood. I really like it. Performance is ok. Best Tommy Hilfiger I've smelled and a great dumb reach for cold weather.

If I had to pick a single fragrance in my collection and say that's the one I want to smell like all the time, it would be this one. I absolutely love the ambery, woody, sweet sent profile of this one. Criminally underrated, highly recommend it. Also, the full sized bottle is awesome because it comes with an extra travel sized vial in the cap.

I have both the original impact and the intense they're both excellent scents but the intense wins out the two

I saw this in the store and was sure i would not like it enough to purchase it, boy was i wrong, this one is so much better and smoother that the original, might be my favorite release this year considering the low price i paid for it, the best hilfiger scent in quite some time. Nice woodsy spicy and fresh scent with some resins.

Fantastic fragrance! Very pleasant scent, not overpowering at all. After owning 80+ perfumes, this is the only one I’ve received a compliment for — even after 6 hours, the sandalwood base still lingers. Excellent longevity with a sillage of around 4–5 feet. Very affordable. I’ll definitely be reaching for this often.

It reminds me a lot of Dusk by woods collection, maybe a bit fresher , sweeter and lighter during the opening and mid. I never tried PDM layton but since Dusk is a clone of Layton and a good one i could say that its a layton style frag. Although i like this more than Dusk. Now i will do a side by side comparison.

It’s like Pusle of the Night and Layton had a baby. It’s different. Dark, woody, spicy and resinous. Smells fantastic. Absolutely worth the money. This feels like it should’ve been release by Issey Miyake in the Nuit d’Issey line. I’m very surprised this came from Tommy Hilfigure. Highly recommend 8.5/10

Friends didn't like it, but I did. Will buy again soon. It was actually a great summer scent. In winter it was overwhelming and smelled like a lumberjack that has eaten lots of apples. Spray it no more than 3-4 times in winter. And go for 6 in summer if you want to, even tho it is a winter fragrance.

This is a great scent. I did not expect to like it as much as I do, since it was a blind buy. The apple and the woods seem to work great together. You can wear this one anytime. I can still smell it 8 hours later. I paid $60 for the 100 ml bottle on their website when it was on sale. Go get one.

Impact intense is a very sexy fragrance done in a masculine way. Very thick and woody and it also has some sweetness and that apple pie vibe like layton does but with much more woods in the background. The bottle is also pretty nice, only thing bad is the pathetic sprayer. 9/10

30% layton 70% stronger with you absolu/intensely! Really good. But yeah it remind you of a lot of them Designers, and in a good way. They mixed the best. Not like valentino uomo barn in rome and all of them. That mix every frag in the store. Good longevity but close to skin

Top 3 autumn/winter frags OAT. Lasts all day and projection is strong enough to fill a small room. Initial spray is very crisp due to apple but after a few seconds the wood and amber hit you. Suitable for all ages, all occasions as long as they are during colder months

Woody, spicy, resinous. Just enough sweetness and perfect for the colder months. Performance is better than average for me. It does remind me of Bentley for Men Absolute. If you're not a collector, I wouldn't buy both, but I'm not sure which one I like better.

Great for Fall. It has pieces of all kind of other fragrances. Therefore it is a fragrance on it's own. Much much better than the OG. It's woody and sweet fruity. But not in the wrong kind of youthful way. It's easy to pull this one of. It's a safe blind buy.

I can get the smell of red apple and something that reminds me of black currants (maybe the resin or oudh). Blind bought and used for about a week. Decent projection of a couple of meters. Seems to be worthwhile at a discounted price.

Don't think this one smell like Stronger with you, I don't get chestnut here and I get a lots of spicy apple in my bottle, last 2-3 hours, projection weak, smell pleasant overall 7/10

Seen this reviewed on YouTube and for good reviews so decided to give it a go.very impressed .warm spicy and lovely red apple.this is the best hilfiger fragrance they have ever done

This smells exactly like the Impact but with added sweetness and chestnut. So, it is like having an apple pie with chestnut in a wooden cupboard. Gets quite sweet with the drydown.

This is closer to Tom Ford Ebene Fume than it is to Layton.

Okay so I only tried this briefly, in store, on a blotter, so perhaps I'm not the best equipped to review it, but let's face it....when did I ever let a little thing like that stop me hey? So this is compared here to a bewildering array of completely different perfumes, which sometimes makes me feel there's some element of trolling going on or something? It's actually far more likely that the accords contained within this perfume are derivative of all of these perfumes, due to the uniqueness of our individual sniffers and perhaps you could say, the lack of the same uniqueness in perfume itself. First comparison is to Layton by PdM and again, although I haven't given this an extensive sniff I'd like to think that if this smelled like the abominable Layton, I would be able to sniff it out in an instant. It's rare that I say I hate a perfume but I can categorically state, for the record that I hate Layton, but my first impression of Impact Intense was pretty positive, more on that in a minute. Coming back to Layton I hate it's stupid Fratboy face, it's place in the 'community', it's insipid, fruity, creaminess. The fact that those top notes can lure you in to thinking, actually this is quite a fancy reimagining of Boss bottled and is kinda those things, but when you wear it, it's just awful. It's perfume for people who hate perfume, I stick to my guns on that and should be jettisoned into the sun with Cedrat Boise! Impact Intense to me at least smelled of that kinda fresh, preppy TH I remember from the 90's a kind of aqua throwback, and sure I'll go with a pear or apple note in the top to lure you in. Then I thought it was quite a peppery affair of the transparent, cedar, vetiver variety, not going overboard here but that sort of JCE vibes, simple uncomplicated, fruity/citrus and woody cologne, punctuated by spice. In this case I thought it owes more to the likes of a Marc Jacobs BANG! or Carbone de Balmain than to Layton and Stronger with you, but hey what the hell do I know? This is an interesting bottle design, if a bit....well....fuck ugly. It looks like a plunger and who knows maybe this will detonate the men's designer game? I doubt it though, but what I do respect is that Impact intense is not treading the awful line of Phantom or Scandal or other absolute SHITE released for men recently, which I guess is something. I think it's not bold enough to be anything other than an outlier but on paper (quite literally) I really quite liked it. Watch this space for the update, it might be terrible on skin and god forbid it actually does smell like Layton.
