True Star Gold

I purchased this on a ship back from a school trip to France back in the mid-late 2000s. Obsessed with Beyoncé, I yearned for this fragrance since its release in 2005. At the time I was just so happy to have bought it (for myself) I hardly cared for what the fragrance smelled like (all I cared for was Beyonce) I remember it being quite a harsh perfume, because it made me sneeze constantly (possibly the red currant and pumpkin flower elements) yet it dried down into a sweet, almost milky fragrance. However, it dried down to the point of disappearing! This is typical for my skin a EDTs... Why TH decided to turn TSG into a Toilette rather than a perfume like TS I’ll never know, and forever be annoyed at this. Nowadays this is harder to find and people seem to want an extortionate amount for it. I found some, it has elements of what I loved before, but the course of time has made it become even harsher, wouldn’t say fishy like another user said, but not overly nice. It’s good as a sentimental item that transports me back to a simpler, happier time in my life. But I don’t wear it often. The campaign for this was beautiful, I loved the pink bottle and the the ad images of Beyonce with the floaty hair and microphone are iconic and sassy - but the perfume really flopped and is hardly remembered or spoken fondly of to this day. Perhaps if TH and Beyonce waited for a quieter time in her career they may have taken better care of this perfume and its promo. I am sooooo in love with this perfume, I bought it online for the second time even though it costed me an arm and a leg! (mostly for shipping) but it was worth it! The only downside is the staying power, I have to spray it like 4-6 times if I want it to last a little that's why it runs out quicly. Tommy Hilfiger should reformulate it making it stronger, more concentrated, I'm sure it will be an enormous success, I'd be the first one in line! :)

Kiwi sorbet + lemon slices (or wild flowers smelling of lemons - daisy fleabanes, some bellflowers or field mint) + milk! + balloons. It is interesting fruity, milky fragrance (a little bit reminds me of Le Feu Light - it belongs the same fragrance group)

I got a tester as a present and I didn't expect much because it looks so cheap and tacky. But the scent isn't. Yes it's easy, yes it's superficial, yes it's happy go lucky but what's wrong with that? It's summer, girls! Jump!

on my skin it's evolves quickly into a white florar fruit fresh scent unique , no other perfume i know reminds this one, everyone asks: "what a good smell? what are you wearing?"

smells like a big juicy watermelon!! just intoxicating-its a fabulous summer frangrance i cant get enough of this one! i definately recommend this fragrance i give it 5 stars

Voor mij is het meer een fruit/cypre geur, en wel de beste die ik heb. Heel lang te ruiken door de dag heen. Voor mij staat deze ver bovenaan mijn top 3 voor cypre geurs. A very goooood parfume, fruity/cypre, very long lasting, one of the better smells imo

I got True Star Gold for very cheap without ever smelling it before. I hate the smell! I can deffinitely smell the kiwi in the top, although it smells more peachy in this fragrance. True Star Gold reminds me of Love At First Glow by J.Lo...cheap, peachy, light scent. I gave it to my mother she likes it XD

I really do not like this perfume. I bought it as a blind buy. In my opinion, this smells like damp hay with a hint of over ripe pumpkin. I DO like the smell of hay and pumpkin but not on my body. I honestly cannot smell anything else. Ish.

my first ever perfume, I got it as a gift on 2007. At first I really love it, but as months passed by, it smelled like fish, so I threw it away, seriously.

Very sharp on initial spray... more of the citrus thing, then it evolves into something grass like and then to nothing after an hour. Sorry not for me..

One of the worst perfumes ever. There ́s not only one note which I like. I ́m not surprised this scent is not longer available.

i hate it! i smelled like oranges all day...yuck! now, i'd never buy a perfume beyonce supports.......soo sad!

I agree with orchidlover, this is fresh cut green grass, a floral green perfume! Personally, I don't like it.

I don't like this perfume, there is too much lily and juniper with a few drops of honey.

sorry but I get annoyed when people jump up very quickly and throw the 'racism' word around so easily. Half the time the very race they are trying to speak up for ends up debunking their claims so half the people who use this term don't know what they are talking about or just make up the facts to suit themselves. Or they complain about issues for black people but they are not black themselves. Mind your own business and let those people speak for themselves. You don't come across to anyone as caring you come across as fool speaking for issues you know nothing about or can't relate to. If he was racist I doubt Beyoncé would continue to be in his advertisements. Let her speak for herself when I hear from her that he is racist then I will believe it. Beyoncé is certainly not a person to be forced to work with someone she believes is pretending to be happy to work with people of different race. The perfume itself seems to be a sharp grapefruit which settles down to a light linear hairspray and shampoo kind of smell. I like it I have used it a couple of times but it is getting hard to obtain in Australia I suppose because it has been discontinued. It is no surprise when you smell it because I get the impression with Tommy's fragrances this is the style they are meant to be. Just fresh, easy going no fuss but stylish. I am not at college and I don't wear preppy style fashion. I don't spend my time in that lifestyle of yaughting or whatever although I do get into the outdoor activities and I like sport so I do like this style of perfume and I like grapefruit in a perfume so I suppose that's why I give this a good rating. It didn't really last for me I had to keep spraying it but I didn't mind. I don't feel I would wear it to a nightclub or out for dinner but during the day for just about any occasion it can be spritzed on. It does need to agree with your chemistry otherwise it could smell like stale hairspray. If you are on the hunt for grapefruit fresh perfumes or you are only interested in buying grapefruit style perfumes that are not too sweet or gourmand then this one is worth trying if you happen to find it but if not then you are not really missing a lot. His newer perfumes I think are a bit of an improvement on these older ones they are starting to have a bit more character not relying on the same old formula.

True Star By Tommy Hilfiger One of my black girlfriends from Hawthorne California had this perfume in her collection. She didn't want it anymore and she had used very little of it. I sampled it by spraying it on my wrist and my cleavage. I was really into the smell. Cheap? You betcha. Sweet? Very. This is for a junior high school girl who wants to smell really sweet and pretty. It's totally an under 18 type of scent, a fragrance mist, hair spray type of scent, not quite a salon scent, more like a product you have at home (shampoo or conditioner, hairspray bottle). It's fruity with a lot of gourmand smells that mingle and converge in a hot mess. Starts off with a kiwi and citrus, melon, berry. Very fruity and delicious but light and fresh, not a ripe deep juicy kind of fruit. More like fruit candy. This is the big accord and it's mostly fruity which I like in perfume. This is great for summer time and to wear to the beach or casually with your girlfriends when you're hanging out together. The scent doesn't last very long and one has to keep reapplying. Amongst the other notes I got some light milk and pumpkin (like a pie smell) very light though and some sort of vanilla dry down, a bit of honey. The honey and milk/vanilla accords are pretty flat for a dry down base note so the whole thing collapses quickly. It's good for smelling clean fresh and sweet and girly for a little while. I am loving it.

I am absolutely surprised to see linden blossom is not one of the listed elements because it is one of the very first scents to unfold on contact. True Star Gold begins with an odd citrusy scent that tiptoes on the fine line of offensively strange and exotically interesting. The other fruits--kiwi, melon, and currants--take a backseat to the linden blossom. Nice, but not worth the price of the bottle. What makes this scent truly fabulous is the heart and the drydown. Though the linden blossom is a heart note, it arrives early and is quite mutable, allowing the lily to come forth in the loveliest manner. Not too long after the juniper settles in and does so in the softest way, making TSG a keeper. The lily and the juniper are simply and adorably whimsical and so much fun to wear. This is the antithesis of a 'power fragrance'; where power fragrances of the 1990s made a statement about how strong, fierce, and confident the wearer was, this fruity-floral quietly whispers to the world how sweetly innocent and carefree the wearer is. (And age is completely irrelevant here--remember, Beyonce is getting close to thirty). I would never wear this to work if I wanted to be taken seriously. However, this is a wonderful 't-shirt and jeans' fragrance.

I have a bottle of this from many, many years ago and I’m kind of surprised at all of the harsh reviews. To me, it’s a very light citrusy, clean scent, and I really like it still. One thing that really surprises me is that there’s no honeysuckle in this. To me the top notes I’m it smelling are honeysuckle, orange, honeydew melon, and a hint of vanilla. There are a few fragrances from my teenage years in my early 20s that just stand out for me and this is one of them. It’s sad that a lot of the fragrances that I used to like are no longer made or they are harder to find. Some of the ones that I really remember are Queen by Queen Latifah, Forever by Mariah Carey, Heiress by Paris Hilton, Britney Spears Fantasy, Britney Spears Believe, Victoria’s Secret Heavenly Dream Angels, and one of my absolute faves Lancôme Millennium Rose.

What NYCTiffany is referring to is Tommy Hilfiger allegedly saying his clothes weren't meant for black People. He supposedly said this on Oprah. Oprah said about 3 years ago this was not true and he hasn't ever been on her show. They said the same thing about Liz Claiborne. Aaliyah and various other black people have been in his ads. In the behind the scenes video of the orginal True Star he is gushing over Beyonce. The rumors are not true I miss this scent so much. I gave it away like a fool and now I want my bottle back. Very sweet and juicy kiwis and fruit punch. Also has a citrus twang to it. The lasting power was bad last I remember but whenever I did spray it I always smiled. I will have another bottle :)

I wanted the honey milk, or the pumpkin or something but it sure didn't work for me. On me it smells awful. GI got it cheap and maybe it’s off? It was supposed to be new, but online buying being what it is...Anyway, it's almost as if the notes have skewed. The milky honey sweet florals are there, but there’s a buzzsaw of cheap fake wood over the top of it that ruins it and makes it almost peppery. It never stabilized and remained a nasty mess all through til dry down. Fail. I would have LOVED to have the hay and overripe pumpkin another reviewer got (and hated.) Swap?? sigh.

i ended up giving True Star Gold away to someone who asked for it and i miss the sweet milky honey scent...so im going to buy it again, i actually really like it, i thought i didnt like it as much at first but i really do, i think this would go really well with Bath and Body works Aroma Therapy milk and honey because of the Milk and honey notes....its really fresh too because of the citrus...the Bottle and whole concept is really cool too.

I don't think it is floral-fruity, not only in my skin, but if I sniff the bottle I also detect it as floral-green. Like the fresh cut green grass, I like it. But how can be so different my frag than other people's frag ?! :S

Start is too sharp for me.too massive in berries and citrus wave.But after this sweet sour attack coming smell of black tea with raspberries -refreshing,warm with honey . And some times that's all what I want :) .

Okay all of those notes mix into a horrible perfume im serious it smells like a yard full of weeds , not like mary jane weed but like a freaking weed it sticks i dont like it smells like crap

It's like a drop of nice perfume in a bottle of water. I can't smell it if i'm more than three inches far from my wrist. Should I mention about the lack of staying power?

This smells like Sugar tea cream and honey. Its ok. I will happily use it and i dont think i will buy it again. I only want perfumes that i love

it's a sweet scent very fruity ,sexy,girly i love it and i get a lot of compliments when i wear this one
