Anni Venti

It's so interesting that with minimal marketing copy and no listed notes, the interpretations of a perfume vary so wildly! I am here to add yet another take that does not align with any of the previous reviews. Firstly, I love this fragrance. I understand why its so special to the perfumer, and I totally get the 1920s vibe that the marketing copy refers to. I don't think it’s as dramatic as some of the other reviews suggest, and I don't agree with the "smells like" votes. Not a spice bomb or floral bomb to me. But very robust and dense, for sure! It has the texture of Habanita, which is indeed a 1920s fragrance. So not an overly dry talc-y powder, but a dense mastic texture. Also the subtle spice and heliotrope/vanilla sweetness of Habanita. (I am surprised no one else has mentioned this, it is the most obvious reference to me). There is also something in common with Amouage Blossom Love, also a heliotrope-heavy scent. A bit of boozy amaretto with abstract florals. You could interpret this amaretto note as "fig jam" as another did (in a disparaging but funny way), but I'm going with amaretto, maybe tobacco. As for the florals, to me its a bit rosy and maybe a but of a purple floral as well. Finally there is a myrrh here that adds a deeper medicinal touch. Otherwise it isn't like Amir from this brand, which I dislike. Overall not a diva fragrance like some have said, but definitely confident and self-possessed. Very long-lasting with good sillage. tl;dr: A dense powder with floral and spice nuances, somewhere between Habanita and Blossom Love, with more myrrh in the drydown. Beautiful!

"Anni Venti" refears to Laura Tonatto's career length without pretending (in that case it would be really silly indeed, seeing that now a days its quite impossible to find and to use materials out of commerce, rare or forbidden...) to be a vintage perfume. The ingredients composing this fragrance are top secret as the same L.T. refused giving the "pyramid"- although a trained nose can recognize some among them, which are mostly first rate ones and nothing is done cheaply. Personally I cannot smell any "fig jam pot" as normally I keep out careless cooks, therefore I'm not familiar with eating disorders and bla bla bla. The fragrance takes after itself being no copy of...or resembling... although either for the colour, the intensity or the persistence it is more familiar to old perfumes than nowdays many "smelling waters" pretending to be called "eau de...". I'm sure you must have experienced something very different from the original Anni Venti, and your poisonus comment is due to probably that shocking experience : a strange terribly kept liquid, or china-made sold for the original. Be careful next time you do your shopping! ;)

Well, so far this and Notte di Taif are my favourites from Laura. This is a dramatic spice bomb for a diva indeed.Its a shame there is no note pyramid info provided. Id make a guess that there is lots of myrhh, benzoin and some incense which make up the base. The middle and top notes are definitely floral with rose and jasmine most definitely starring. There is definitely neroli in the top notes. Wear this when you want to make an entrance and be noticed. Moderate sillage and longevity.

Great fragrance, on a confident woman especially. I discovered it during an exhibition of antique clothes at the Reggia of Venaria during my last trip in Turin (Italy). I bought it as a present for the 'next aristochratic woman' with certain characteristics so one who can wear it without spoiling. It's a great scent with all the charme of on old perfume and the modernity of a new fragrance. Wonderful!

Anni Venti scent is increadibly beautiful, warm, spicy and well rounded. I fell in love with it immediately and forever. It is very long lasting and is a bit similar to Serge Lutens Arabie, but much more interesting as Arabie and more refined. True, it is an unusual scent, but boy, soooooo gorgeous and expensive smelling. Truly something special!

For me it's somehow a vintage smell: it's powdery, almost dusty, and I guess there's a touch of violet. But then, it becomes also similar to "Amir", another Laura Tonatto fragrance that I particularly like: it has notes of myrrh and amber, and it's spicy, warm, very powdery. This "Anni venti" is the kind of fragrance that I could smell on an old, elegant lady...but it isn't a bad thing! It has some poetic, nostalgic qualities, and I guess it's made with essences of highest quality. I like it...but I should be in the right mood to wear it :)

A lady-like perfume more in the mood of the old fragrances than the classical perfumes. It is very complex of course, not for daily use. I think it is perfect for the cold winters night or very special occasions:it's quite expensive (50 ml = 135€!!!) A dream, super lasting fragrance but I'm not for him.

Edit: I smelled this fragrance in a posh niche perfumery shop in Parma, my hometown, about a year ago: the owner insisted on spraying it on my coat sleeve.I usually really appreciate Laura Tonatto's Eastern wisdom of in creating highly evocative perfumes, such as Amir, which disclose a genuine sensorial realm. But this time I think she wanted to exaggerate and consequently "Anni venti" may be considered a product well below expectations. The name of this perfume may sound a bit deceitful. A whiff of bitter herbal sweetness in the top notes, then extremely sweet, high pitched oriental notes (vanilla? macarons? frosted violets?). Nothing particularly wrong in the "secret" notes, but it's sickly sweet and unoriginal. Nothing to do with the fragrances of the Twenties, made from civet, benzoin and aldehydes. After all, it's a celebrative frag, not an evocative one. This concotion smells like a fig jam pot that a careless cook forgot on the fire, I'm sorry to express such a harsh opinion, but so it is. I presume it has been designed just for ladies with a lack of affection and who are always on a strict diet, that compells them to sublimate their hunger by sniffing syrupy potions.

This concotion smells like a fig jam pot that a careless cook forgot on the fire. It has been designed just for ladies with a lack of affection and that pretend to have eating disorders. I imagine a skinny thinspirated fortysomething spoiled lady who refuses to grow up bathed in this fragrance.

I like it , I found it among the toiletries in my room at the Grand Hotel in Rimini - there was also the Anni 20 body milk ,very delicate and powdery
