Oltre

it's very fresh and smells like waves.when i wore it i immagine myself sitting on the beach during sunset while seagulls are flying on the sea singing with their husky voices.i feel the ocean on my skin and it doesn't poison you like rem or other floral aquatic parfumes.this one it's more tender.

I am not a fan of ocean/ozonic/aquatic notes. But I admire Laura Tonatto's work so had to give "Oltre" a try. "Oltre" in Italian means "beyond", and the name is quite evocative to an italian native speaker. Beyond the land and beyond the sea, where the two worlds meet. This fragrance speaks out marine wildlife and salty breeze. Indeed, at first sniff to me if was sea foam on a fresh, windy day. Wow, this is good. The salt note is prominent and transports you immediately to the beach - rather an ocean beach at the end of summer, with greenery and pines around. There is a a subtle floral note but you will not notice it much, as Oltre is a perfume about the sea. But I must admit the aquatic one here is so realistic and has nothing artificial (=the loathed calone note seems very well enginereed here), i am almost ashamed to say that I like it. Oltre is something to own just to sniff it it winter when you miss your holiday time at the seaside, or just to feel good. A fragrance to evoke liberty and nature. ___________________

This such a soft fragrance that I have had to concentrate hard to describe it in case I miss something. It is very green but it doesnt smell like the sea. There is no brine like you detect in ambre gris. Yes, it is most definitely aquatic and soft. Maybe its the heavy dose of musk that adds the soft quality. Totally unisex. Never goes beyond a skin scent on me.

Something and Nothing: an opening blast with a vague hint of spearmint, then an anodyne musky/mossy dry down. The most disappointing of Tonnato's fragrances in my eyes. My partner's damning verdict: "Smells cheap."
