Knock On Wood

OK, I have tested a couple of times already. This is definitely NOT and I’d say again, IS NOT a floral fragrance but it’s absolutely more WOODY fragrance than anything else! So that means, it’s less feminine and goes more towards masculine. I’m a guy, I also wear bunch of women’s fragrances BUT, this one is definitely towards guys liking territory. Don’t get me wrong, some ladies will like this scent profile because it’s quite a comforting woody scent. At least on my skin. And it’s not those rugged raw dry lamber jack type of woodiness but more of a refined, well put together kind, elegantly crafted with the supporting facets of soft perhaps aquatic floral notes if you could detect. I can smell primarily beautiful wood scents right from the bat, with a hint of bright citrus opening but all throughout the life of fragrance, that beautiful soothing woody note is the protagonist here. A lot of guys can definitely pull this off and can wear this easily. This is an absolutely a beautiful light woody fragrance that almost reminds me of being inside of a newly built rich wooden cabin! And the performance is so good! I only sprayed a couple on the back of my hand, after about 11 hours, it is still slightly projecting off my skin and getting some whiff without sticking my nose into it! (by the way I also sprayed the brand new YSL Y Le Parfum on the other hand at the same hour and you can’t even compare how Tory Burch is 10 times better than YSL in many levels!!) I have a feeling that this will be another under the radar hidden gem for some people as this is still a new release. People will probably go for more of the main stream fragrances by L’Oreal group, Puig or Clarins and LVMH(owns Luis Vuitton....etc.)

I picked up a travel size bottle on impulse one day to cheer myself up, and as soon as I smelled this my spirits were instantly lifted. The bright orange bottle perfectly matches the spirit of this irreverent, playful, kind of wacky scent. Surprisingly I didn't smell dill right away - all I knew was that the smell was very familiar and homey, but fresh rather than cozy. This perfume IS very dilly, but it's also very rose-y. On me especially, my chemistry makes the rose come roaring out and I smell like a piece of Turkish delight, but in a nice way. It stays very loukoum sweet for a long time, maybe 3 or 4 hours, and then settles into something very faintly woody. It's a wonderfully cheery perfume, and it really stood out from all the others I tried in the shop. Definitely a sweetly quirky choice, with a sort of innocence to it. I think it'll be a great pick for a summer scent, but it's a nice pick-me-up in the bleak midwinter too.

I received this as a free sample and wouldn't have picked it otherwise. I inherited a "Tory Burch" roller that's just ok to me, but I am READY to go out and buy "Knock on Wood". It's the scent I've been looking for. Very soft wood scent with a hint of rose. The citrus was prominent initially but has disappeared in the dry down. Kind of reminiscent of Jo Malone's "Wood Sage & Sea Salt". It's not cloyingly sweet or sharp. It's a cool spring day in the DC area with passing storms and I swoon every time I catch a whiff of the single spray I did on my sweater. I will probably wear this for spring and fall, maybe winter, and do 4-5 sprays.

It’s the vetiver that killed it for me. Too woodsy, earthy, peppery & spicy. Very Unisex too. Nothing generic or over the counter about this. I wouldn’t spray this on personally because it’s not something that works with my chemistry but I wouldn’t mind it on someone else.

This is my all time favorite perfume. I love the sour woody scent on me. At the same time elegant. I believe this is discontinued.

Knock On Wood is for souls that radiate comfort and show their affections through service and meek smiles. Treading barefoot on fresh moss lawns. Coming home to a warm hearth and steaming soup. Running her soft fingers over weathered tree bark. Carefully deliberating over organic herbs. A closet full of linen dresses with matching ruffled aprons. Reciting Jane Austen with full conviction over jam-filled biscuits under willow branches. Saying farewell to the golden sun over a cup of sweet chai. This scent is definitely for homebodies or more mature women. It's by no means a headturner, but something to wear whilst visiting friends or family that will leave them with a soft impression. The combination of orange and vetiver first reminded me of the scent of dill, but as I spent a little bit more time with it I could discern between the sharp, unsweet peel and dry strands of brush. I liked it, but I don't think it suits me personally so it's going to my mother. Mild spices, tangs of wild florals, home in a bottle.

Maison Margiela’s Bubble Bath with a big blast of dry woods on the top. If you wear winged eyeliner, false lashes and enjoy smelling like a bakery - run away; she’s just not your journey. If you like niche, enjoy the tension of traditionally masculine notes in feminine perfumery (Narciso Pure Musc, Santal 33, Clean Reserve Sel Santal), and are easily bored by designer offerings, give her a whirl. Off the hop, smells like a hot sauna - like actual planks of dry wood. 10 mins later you get the sour zing of the blood orange blended with a clean, daytime rose that’s very reminiscent of Bubble Bath (minus the soap). She’s giving work, she’s giving casual date, she’s giving elegant, she’s giving intelligent, clean girl aesthetic with minimalist gold jewelry who doesn’t need to smell like a bakery to be alluring. She’s over 30, and at perfectly at home smelling like the lumber section of Home Depot.

For a while this was my signature scent, which is surprising as I'm not normally a fan of scents with overpowering cirtus. I think it's a nice spicy scent that's not smokey so it's a lot nicer for casual wear. My best friend says it reminds her of the smell of cucumber sandwiches. However, it's not very long lasting and I usually have to reapply it every hour for it to last for the day.

Knock on Wood does not smell how I expected it to. At first it’s very citrusy but almost aquatic, yet still floral and woody. The citrus disappears on the dry down and it settles into a light spicy rose. The vetiver in knock on wood is much better blended than other Tory Burch perfumes.

This smells typical of Macy's-perfume-counter-stuff. It's not "original" by any 'sense'. It's too sweet, heavy florals and has a grating woodsy basenote. The blood orange is what I smell first. It's more 'fruitchouli' for me. Smelled this hundreds of times before. Even Sephora doesn't carry it--anymore. The most original vetiver-in-a-feminine perfume I've ever tested and had to have was Donna Karan's "Woman". This is a "no" for me.

Anyone else find this smells like Dill pickle? No? Just me? It's very yuck to me. Pass !

It’s really crazy how much this initially smells like dill pickle, I work at a cosmetics store and am constantly getting this feedback from customers to the extent that I show it to them for this reason. Just to mess with them

I found this fragrance while hunting for something different at my local Bloomingdale's. As I was on my way down the escalator, I saw a sales associate awaiting with a bright smile, a bottle of Knock On Wood, and a big advertisement flyer of this stuff to her right. Oh no, I said to myself. I saw the bright orange bottle and knowing the rest of the Tory Burch selection, I thought I'd hate this one. I decided to smell the tester strip she was offering. I was on the hunt for something different, so who knows, right? I was absolutely delighted with what I smelled. A beautiful, modern scent. I loved it so much I sprayed a bit on my arm as the associate and I engaged in small talk. As I went in for a smell I was honestly blown away. I did not expect to find the vetiver dominating on my skin, but it mingles so beautifully with the florals in the background that work together with the vetiver to make the vetiver work better with a female targeted fragrance, but I do think it can easily work for a man as well. If you like santal 33, think of this as the vetiver version of it. I will definately continue to repurchase and I urge anyone curious about it to go ahead and check it out. It's a hidden gem among the seemingly ordinary scents Tory Burch puts out. It does not have long wear time but until I can get my hands on a Le Labo, I will enjoy my bottle to its fullest potential. As Elsee recommended leaving out locations and temperature. I'm was testing this in 90 degree weather in the tristate area. Had to reapply twice through the day and still, it faded quickly.

Knock On Wood, ...I'm getting several unlisted notes here. The opening is indeed rife with (blood) oranges, but there is also a bright, resinous note, like unlit frankincense. Later something akin to dill and mint enters the frame; more noticeable than the anodyne florals in the background. That dill might even suggest sandalwood, though very dilly sandalwood, if that. Mellowed, grassy vetiver does arrive as promised, giving Knock On Wood a paddock-like mien. Surely, an intriguing scent to sample, ...but for actual wear, be sure to do something like gardening or horseback riding. This just doesn't seem suitable for anything involving city lfe: business, formal affairs, nightlife, etc.

IDEA: What if we all start stating where we live. For instance, someone who lives in a humid climate will have a different smell reaction to a perfume with someone from a dry climate. I know this because I lived in both. What smelled fantastic in one place was a disaster in the other... (Humid to dry). I believe this makes a huge difference to the outcome of the perfume, and might help us somewhat. Thoughts on this idea? Does it matter? Will it help? :) Happy sniffing! (I live in the dry high desert of New Mexico) I have not smelled this just yet but hope to get to Sephora tomorrow!

I find this bright, modern, & chic. Bought it on a whim, to make a donation to breast cancer at my local cosmetic counter. (So I basically only paid $25.00 for a 100 ml along with a bunch of other samples & goodies!) can’t go wrong with that! I love how pleasant & pretty it is. Can’t imagine this frag ever coming across as offensive . Don’t understand the pickle references . I would rate it 8/10.

I won a sample of this at a Mall. This is quite well blended. definitely woody... spicy.. i can sense the rose and Magnolia. Also i'm getting vibes of... a deepy rooty wood, like in Serge Lutens Chypre Rouge This is a more balsamic pine forest... freshly split wood.. spicy floral background. not bad

Bitterness and sourness of the blood orange on top is strong, and initially put me off a bit. It does soften, still staying quite citrusy for a while before deepening into an earthy warmth. Dry down is lovely and woody. It's a nice scent, save for the first ten minutes, at least to my nose!

Straight up dill.I’ve never experienced this. Normally, it’s the synthetic sandalwood that gives this impression, but it must be the vetiver in here. Not sure what to make of this one. I like dill, but don’t want to smell like a dill patch in a garden.
