This perfume opens with an aggressive roar of leather and slowly becomes more polite over time. I'm used to the lighter, gentler notes presenting themselves first in most compositions before melting into a rich leather base, but this composition flips that classic formula in reverse. The experience of wearing this fragrance is like waking up in the stomach of a leviathan, clawing your way out, drifting through the ocean, and eventually washing up on a peaceful shore. The initial spray is leathery, acrid, dark, and intense: these are the bowels of the creature and the terror that comes along with realizing you’ve been swallowed whole. The scent of the ocean lingers gently at the edge of your perception as a reminder of where you came from. Next, the strangely soft and musky embrace of wool... there’s a coziness in here, after all. The thought of “maybe it’s not worth it — I’ll just give up and allow myself to be digested” crosses your mind, but your desire to see the sun again wins in the end. Costus represents the sweat from your struggle to escape while the bracing citrus elements of pomelo, elemi, and Hercules club suggest your vigor and determination. You tear at the creature’s abdominal walls in a desperate frenzy. At last, you are free! That earlier scent of the sea returns with a rush, now tripled in strength and filling your senses. The vast expanse of the ocean extends in all directions as you scramble onto a large piece of driftwood and hope the currents are flowing in your favor. Lichen scratches your face while your body lies heavily against the wood, sopping wet and exhausted. Fate smiles upon you as your makeshift buoy runs ashore. Drenched in seawater and whale innards, you stumble onto land. Flowers bloom around you and towering sequoia trees shelter you from the sun. You have survived. A theatrical and thoroughly evocative experience. I can see myself comfortably wearing this in just about any weather aside from a humid summer day. If you can get your hands on a sample of In the Belly of the Beast, don’t pass it up!

You hug your family and they all wear beautiful wool clothes and they were so worried about you. You tell everyone the battle was a success. But at what cost? If you found Sea My Love by SHL to be underwhelming, then this one is for you. Dark, masculine, woody, leathery, and marine with immense depth, this fragrance is cinematic and unforgettable. Every layer reveals something new from the storm-tossed sea to the smoke and grit of battle to the warmth of home. A true standout.

Reviewing on the limited edition version. This might be one of the strongest fragrances I've ever smelled. Salty, woody, resinous & aquatic all at once with touches of fruit, earth & leather. Bold & loud yet also complex, multi faceted & ethereal. I love salty/mineral notes as well as harsher oud noted, and I'm really loving this one a lot. For the casual person, this definitely would be considered "challenging". Tbh I'd say the same for most of the fragrances from this house. That being said, these scents are undeniably phenomenal quality & accomplish their intended goal perfectly. Conceptually these scents function more as wearable art than just another pleasant smelling perfume. Through various familiar notes, these scents are transportive in a way I can't say I've experienced from many other houses. Telling a story through scent.

have you ever been inside a hollister store or an abercrombie & fitch store? thats what this smells like or at least that's what it reminded me of. ive been wearing it more and more and it has grown on me a lot. It's sharp on the nose which might be annoying for some. it's deep, not musky, more like ozonic. I didnt expect this masterpiece by toskovat, not gonna lie, it smells like something jean paul gaultier would release, like for that particular audience yknow what i mean? but nonetheless i love it. it's the perfect fragrance for the upcoming sping / summer time. The woody elements are so nice and mature. the difference between this and megamare is the presence of musk. i believe that megamare is super musky and sweet. this has no sweetness.

This is most challenging scent i got so far. Opening is STRONG with animalic odor combined with beautifull mulberry touch that goes through air. The closer you get to someone the more they will sense sharp almost ground defending animalic smell. Dry down is balanced between upper desciption and the leathery/wool with pinches of sea salt and hasish. Oud is here in plenty versions and its pushing the whole perfume through the room. Its the scent that make you nose blind after few hours but everyone around you will notice it. When you wear it in few differentiated occasions it fits in each one easily. Smell: 10/10 (Masculine/Wild/Bold) Projection: 9/10 (few meters 5h+) Longevity: 10/10 (10h-12h)

I like Tom Ford Ombré Leather. for me personally, this is just an upgraded version of it. not a big fan of marine and aquatic scents, but wholeheartedly enjoy leather + wood + dark combo. its longevity also deserves praise since it shines for more than a day with just a small spray. the name might give off some unattractive vibe (considering David's history of making wild perfumes), but it turned out to be totally wearable and interesting. would recommend to anyone who wants to feel something unique.

In a time when sex appeal is distorted, Toskovat launches the sexiest perfume ever created for men. This is everything the warrior, the sailor, the barbarian, the Viking, the male with a capital M has ever been. “Today I remembered that the only way out is through.” And I remembered that the most important thing remains the way we walk through the fire. If there was a magic elixir to boost courage, this perfume is it.

Ive worn a sample of this a couple times. It is definitely a high masculine scent. But with that it is incredible and complex. The leather scent sits further away from the body and up close the base notes shine. I put on 2 small sprays and I could still smell it on me 10 hours later. I believe it is worth the money if its your style.

Not a horrid scent at all, I guess what is considered horrible is subjective. However, the notes here are baffling, as they don't register to me at all. Especially that cannabis note, I worried about it but it doesn't show up. The composition of the actual fragrance itself is surprisingly cohesive, it is well-blended and rounded, even if the appeal is niche. With the name like that I can’t help but picture taking shelter dark, damp, huge cavernous whale carcass. However the fragrance itself doesn't smell like the sea or what I imagine a whale would smell like at all. I cannot smell any sea water or salt. If this fragrance belongs near water at all, it’s cold freshwater lakes, rivers, rubber wading boots pulled from a muddy riverbank. Black old rubber peeling, cracking and flaking off. In reality, the scent itself is straightforward, yet a multitude of mental associations. A cold garage, concrete, rubber boots, chewing a balloon, a leather coat in the rain, dentist x-rays, condoms, pool noodles, inflatables. This smells industrial, soggy, cold, weird, somehow masculine, and very elastic. Almost like i can hear it stretch, pull, cling, creak, and snap. To me, it calls to mind the inflatable sculptures of Jeff Koons and the way he characterizes his work as erotic, even when it isn’t evident. There is a vague eroticism in this fragrance. There is a strange comfort in its synthetic weird, and almost perverse smell of latex. It has a weird haunting tension to it, It’s not lovely, but it’s compelling. It certainly pushes the boundaries of what “wearable” means. Toskovat’ has its share of let-downs, but this was not one of them. I was prepared to dislike it, I found myself strangely drawn in. I like it, or at the very least, I am at peace with it. I'm perplexed and don't know what to do with this fragrance. You’re definitely cool if you wear this.

This is actually a very interesting scent. Woody and leathery but also very prominently aquatic, thankfully in a non-calone overdosed way. This has an almost damp, herbaceous quality to it, which alongside the strong aquatic component, make me picture this as a "transparent" leather scent instead of the usual brown or black leather of other fragrances. On paper there were noticeable oud and smoke notes but they're either very subdued or absent on my skin. This is undoubtedly going to be a very polarizing scent but I think it's excellently done and the only Toskovat so far that has lived up to my first impressions on paper and, in my opinion, to the image the general public has of the brand, being an interesting, creative, artistic and unique scent

Something Ernest Shackleton would wear. Hypermasculine, dark brown leather. I’m not getting anything remotely marine, but the name does connect for me, as in, I’m standing triumphantly in the pelt of a polar bear that I beat to death with my bare hands. I can sense the wool note in a fluffy density, tho it lacks any air of innocence, and is, in fact, actively marauding. I’m scared of what this man would do to me, in the best of ways.

leather and a small note of something deep dark and frightening, which disappears quickly and we get Tom Ford Ombré Leather Parfum, but 3 times more expensive and less polarizing. of course it smells good and i like it, but commercially TF wins this battle. 8/10 no fruits / flowers / cannabis detected.

Opens muted aquatic, inky, then with a faint rubber/dull leather accord, then the wool note makes its way with a small costus bias, supported by resinous, and faint woodsy notes. In a way, the supportive notes come off as a smooth yet mellow petrol facet; I suspect these come from the resins present in the profile, and the wood drives the profile to elevate a faintly singed sensation here. The aquatic notes are still present, but it’s not nearly as prominent as I’d like for them to be. Overall, a wooly, faintly resinous in the singed direction, with supportive woods and aquatic notes, though pretty muted. It’s like caressing yourself tightly in wool around a vaguely dirty body of seawater. Interesting profile, but doesn’t really tease me towards being FBW.

In the Belly of the Beast starts as a loud, pitch-black, smoky, gasoliney leather with a touch of seawater. It smells badass, but not especially pleasant. By half an hour in the seawater has calmed down, and this is a more normal black tarry leather, like Corpus Equus and many others. There's a vaguely industrial edge to it; it smells a little like iron. Toskovat's image of a shipwreck seems apt: not a romantic Age of Sail ship but a modern cargo ship, reeking of smoke and gasoline. Rough as it is, it still gives me the satisfying, grounded feeling that perfumery "leather" (really birch tar or its synthetic counterparts) always does. If you like leather with an edge, this isn't a bad choice; more extreme than most, but not unwearable.

Smells like the worst teenage boy you know got drunk, wandered into a junkyard, and fell asleep in a tractor tire. My friend said it smells like a gross home depot. At first after spraying it reeks of just rubber. Nothing else. Rubber. After maybe 2-ish hours it dries down into the scent I get when I get stuck behind a bunch of pretentious 10th graders in the hallway wearing their first cologne. It isn't long lasting at all, and it sticks close to the skin. I had to sniff my wrist to smell it at all. I don't hate the scent, I guess. It's just rubbery and basic.

i guess ouds are not for me. though this did demystify the appeal they have - i’m sure it is very alluring to smell like a driftwood mating den for squirrels. definitely a lesbian scent, my girlfriend loves it for layering & it smells much better on her than me

Got a sample of this out of curiosity and it's definitely an interesting scent. Almost smells iron-y like blood. Not something I would reach for.

The description really oversells this. It's like generic ManTM️ scent. Like a Duke Canon soap.

I had the limited release variation. Even with aeration the alcohol was extreme. I sprayed it 3 months ago on a business card and u can still smell it easily. Extremely salty fragrence. The dry down is pleasant after 3 months. It has mellowed as the bottle lowers, but it is one of the worst scents I've ever smelled :(

One of the worst smelling scents I have tried in a long time. It smells like if you killed a giant whale and you took its organs and then made leather and rubber in very large quantity out of it. You then put all of that stuff in a giant empty abandoned mall.

You're on a ghost ship and everyone on the boat is decaying with bones visible beneath raggedy maggoty shreds of what was once clothing as a huge peg legged captain with an eyepatch screams at his crew. This is what this smells like.

I have tried the original special ingredient variation of this fragrance and it’s one of my favorites of all time it’s very salty and aquatic but not in the traditional aquatic designer sense more as a realistic deep oceanic scent but that’s not only thing I get I also get some of the most pleasant woody aroma I have tried from the palo santo and driftwood combo the original has some insane notes as per usual with most toskovat’ releases the longevity is top tier with the scent being permanently stuck on the atomizer of my sample. It really is the perfect combination of woody aquatic leather that I could ever ask for. This is a 10/10 take this with a grain of salt as I enjoy aquatic scents such as megamare and blu mare. This smells like the depths of the ocean with a sunken pirate ship woody and calming at the same time the leather smells resinous like walking into a leather shop. If anyone has a 1-100 bottle message me and I’ll buy it from you :v I do also have two bottles of the official release otw and I will update my review on that one as it’s rumored to have a 90 percent similarity but from what I’ve heard too strong for most (always a plus in my eyes ) ;)

Marine vomit and animalic dark exactly as if you were Pinocchio in the whale's belly. This perfume is strong, leathery, much more wearable then you think, but still QUITE INTENSE. One spray fills the room, and lasts forever. Reminds me if the genre of Sadonaso by Gualtieri and many others such as Civet by Zoologist. Definitely cinematographic perfumery. It's made to evoke feelings and transport you or make you experience specific ingredients in their amplitude. i've tried Inexcusable evil ( very hard to wear , gorgeous for 30 min then the dry-down kills you intensely with mercury and it's absolutely quite unwearable ) and this one is more wearable. But it's still quite the punch in the stomach. Oudy , leathery, masculine, animal punch. If you ever wonder what ambergris smells like while is being produced in the belly of the whale, this is it. It's brute for sure. But i still admire the perfume journey . I would not own it and would also never wear it, i see it as a conversational piece and collector's choice ( and again not mine ) . For men in need of something strong and animalic.

This scent is reminiscent of the cold and dank atmosphere of a metal shop --with machines like angle grinders, lathes, drill presses, band saws, welding gear, all often lubricated with viscous oil -- particularly in registering that specific odor of oil and singed metal shards that the machines excrete during operation. You often have to wear these heavy welding jackets that protect your skin from the sparking embers from arc welders but over time, you get a buildup of oil, metallic rust, and sweat because they are not often washed.

I will always love this scent. This is absolute powerhouse and I encourage everybody who love woody notes to try it. To me it is very very linear, you get saltiest almost sparkling ambergris + slightly animalic wood/oud overdose inter-layered with thick dense fuzzy leather and some sour aromatic greens. This is as good as it gets, comfortable yet powerful, wild and surreal yet very grounded. It lasts all day, lives forever on clothes. This scent makes a perfect layering base as well since it is very linear.

It smells very salty on open, marine like a ship. It smells like you're in the wooden captain's quarters of a whaling ship. It's elegant wood and leather, it's sea spray and trophies of a life on the water. This smells like a study with ships in a bottle on the shelves and leather chairs. It's marine like reminicing of a whale you hunted down long ago.

Je ne sais pas si cela vient de mon echantillon mais cela sent le bouc. Goat de chez Wolf Brothers est très faible à côté. Je pesne que c'est la nite de cuir/laine qui ressort mais c'est vraiment du suint de bouc. Malgré cela c'est un très bon parfum une fois cette note apaisée. Il aurait tout a fait sa place chez Zoologist et pourrait s'appeler "Ram"

Imagine if a homeless man unwashed for several days would use bug spray as a deodorant to try to cover his odour, this is what he would smell like from two meters away
