Take me to Church

This fragrance represents a the story of Denis Radu, a story of pain, suffering, sorrow, grief, but also endurance and faith in god. And this fragrance capsulates that to perfection. Upon opening the box there are multiple pieces of art printed on postcards, which are all massively captivating and tattooed on Denis Radu. There's a strong opening of pepper, unfortunately way too overpowering for me at least (nose burning strong). But after those first 20 minutes there comes through a beautiful incense combined with dusty pepper and (candle) wax. An hour or 2 later a somehow elegant note of tar/ stone comes through. To me the fragrance represents a fading memory and at the same time the transformation of a loved one passing and then turning into ashes as their life ceases to exist because of the dust like smell. but on the drydown when the tar and stone come into play you will a sort of message resembling strength and endurance, enduring all the pain and sorrow and have faith in god who is everywhere, not only in church but everywhere and most importantly in every being. Never before have I smelled a fragrance that is pure poetry. another cool thing is the fact that there is 7 peppercorns in the bottle resembling the creators lucky number described in 1 sentence: A story of pain, suffering, grief, sorrow but also faith and endurance all capsulated in a bottle. 9,8/10

Pure artistic, incense-heavy fragrance that evokes the atmosphere of an old, candle lit church, dusty stone walls, flickering wax, peppery spice, and layers of resin and myrrh. It opens sharp and slightly solvent-like but quickly settles into a deep, smoky, and spiritual composition. It’s emotional and immersive, more like a work of art than a casual perfume, perfect for those who appreciate dark, atmospheric scents, but not for everyday wear. It feels like Filippo Sorcinelli shared his blessings over this amazing piece! I own Lavs from Filippo and TMTC kinda shares the same DNA and vibes. If you are an incense lover and you like Filippos work, this is an easy 10/10. I am really lucky I was able to own a bottle of this art.

Was able to get my hands on a decant of this, and what a scent this is!! Super bummed that I can’t own an entire bottle now. This somehow manages to be light and heavy at the same time. Such a well blended scent that tickles my brain every time. It’s quite linear, but I don’t think I would have it any other way since it’s so damn good. The candle wax in this is genius, it helps round off all the harsher notes without being too prominent. Definitely incense vibes but not overpowering. This absolutely sends me to a sacral headspace, pure poetry. The only negative is that it very quickly turns into a skin scent on me. Would love recommendations on similar scents!

This is beautiful. This is art. It's an old church barely kept together, incense is burning, candles are being passed around. The dust and woods almost smell like pews. The aldehydes and spices enhance the incense and candles but also add a sort of ethereal quality to it. It's indescribable, it smells warm, light, inviting. These scents evoke an image of a higher power. It gives me chills. I might be being dramatic but this is the most I've been moved by a fragrance, it tells its own story. I can close my eyes and be enveloped by this church. This is an absolute 10/10 for me. This is my favorite artistic fragrance of all time.

Managed to get a decant of this. This is my first Toskovat' fragrance. I full on expected to hate it, as I get overwhelmed by strong scents very easily, but I like it, and possibly might even love it (I need to think about it some more). This is THE church scent. It does not mess around, it comes on strong and fast. It's powerful, and yet photorealistic. I am a lover of more subtle incense scents but I gotta give credit where it's due. This one is great. Too bad it is discontinued, I feel like there are many more people out there who would love this scent.

One of my favorites from Toskovat, and also one of the most unique fragrances I have smelled. It smells a bit basic on a tester, but really comes alive on skin. I definitely get a dark, holy vibe, and this fragrance reminds me of an old stone church at night. The incense and pepper are strong, and they're supported by an earthy stone note. Its more wearable than people give it credit for in my opinion. I think this scent would fit perfectly for a night out in an old city.

I’ll try to make this as short as possible.... Very very aldeydic. Full of peppery incense. Does not really transform much on skin. Not mass appealing at all. Cannot wear this on many occasions other than to a funeral, a cult meeting, or a gathering to sacrifice animals. Definitely art in a bottle but not wearable in the slightest bit. I’ll give it a 6.5/10

This is the first Toskovat that I have tried and I am very impressed by how fotorealistic this fragrance is. It smells exactly like lit candles inside an incensy church. The smell is pretty linear and not that mass appealing but experienced noses will definitely appreciate it. I recommend wearing this on cold nights.

@Pinnacos Im not sure what your refering too. This is just my personal opinion on the fragrance itself. It smells like a church lit with half burnt out candles. And it has a alluring sense too it that leads to wonder what next happens. It smells unfinished or undone to me.

@jonnyfrags it’s a masterpiece but the only place I can see myself wearing it, is a funeral. It opens with somewhat of a churchy hospital and dries down into a really nice I guess rotting flower smell Artistically: 10/10 Smell and wearability : 3 to 4/10

Very very incense based. This smells like what you think helium smells like. It evolves on my skin into a pleasant fresh air smell, I love it.

While having breakfast one morning after staying at my cousin's house, we spontaneously decided to go to the Büyükada in Istanbul. We arrived at Büyükada with a ferry ride of about half an hour. It was a humid autumn day, cloudy but very warm. We decided to visit the Aya Yorgi Greek Orthodox Church at the top of the island, which can only be reached by walking. We managed to climb to the top with our t-shirts literally soaked with sweat. Churches are generally vertical structures. There is a huge cross on it. Even though they are low, they are vertical. As if reaching out to the holy father in heaven. The lighting is at the top. A similar situation is seen in the higher ones. There is less lighting and ventilation. It may also be a result of the years since new churches have not been built. Candles and incense are also included in the ceremonies. I guess this atmosphere would inspire awe and wonder in a devout Christian. For me, it evokes an otherworldly, mysterious, mystical and dark connotation. I have visited a maximum of 10 different churches for touristic purposes in my life. When I smelled this perfume, memories of the day I went to Aya Yorgi appeared in my mind as vague images. The power of scents. Again, I can see why someone would want to smell that way.

📖 The Hidden Chapel in the Antiquarian Bookstore 🕯️ Pushing open the heavy wooden door hidden behind a bookshelf filled with volumes on the history, I step into a secret chapel. Here, in the heart of the old antiquarian bookstore, someone has created a place of prayer – between shelves of forgotten tomes stand candlesticks, and the air is so thick with incense it's hard to breathe. Olibanum rises in thick curls of smoke, blending with the scent of old books and leather bindings. Myrrh burns in a small vessel atop a wooden altar improvised from a stack of encyclopedias, its resinous smoke intertwining with the oily scent of candle wax. Pepper stings the nostrils – black and pink, as if someone had crushed the spices straight into the censer. Saffron adds a sweet bitterness, and cloves burn like the memory of ancient ceremonies. All of it sinks into the heavy smoke of elemi resin dripping from the ceiling. On the shelves among the books stand small figurines of saints, their faces wrapped in incense smoke. An old book lies open on the makeshift altar, its pages steeped in the scent of myrrh and mystery. In the background, one can sense the stone of ancient walls, tar from Pomeranian beams, and musk left behind by those who once prayed here. In this hidden chapel, time has stopped. Wow. Just wow. I was really lucky to be able to get my hands on a full bottle of this, and it's such a masterpiece. It opens up very elemi forward, backed by the pepper and candle wax. It has this really sweet quality too, which blends incredibly well with the candle wax. As the fragrance sits, it becomes less sweet and more dark and incensy, a clear tar note comes out too. This definitely is an acquired taste, and possibly one of the more challenging toskovats, but I think it's surprisingly wearable! It lasts insanely look too, and surprisingly does project very far. This fragrance really tells a story, and when wearing this you really do feel like you are in an old church with candles lit at night, and that's where I think toskovat sets themselves apart from many other houses. Their ability to tell stories and inflict emotions with their fragrances. All in all, I'm stoked to have added this to my collection and I think it's an absolutely stunning scent. 10/10
