Things We Never Shared

the scent pretty much matched the author’s description for it. my experience: first spray got me every vape liquid i enjoy at the moment: Le Tonton (prolly named after the liquor, gives a gourmand nutty coffeeish warm taste), Tarte Citron (not that sweet of a cake) and Violette (flower liquid, depicting the soap if it was edible). later on, it projects a rich gourmand smell with a lot more to it, i can’t even describe what is it, (not familiar with the most of flowers, trees, rare expensive ingredients and POISON) as you can see how many notes are in here, but their combination is a masterpiece. i don’t feel any mulled wine, but probably the advocaat liquor. the main profile is cocoa, hand wipes, panettone with little pieces of candied orange peel and almonds. also sacher torte looks like it him who’s present:) a lot of toffee, milky thick sweets. on the other hand i recall the snowdrops scent and this one succeeded to evoke the complex feeling of toska in me, as i remember how my father used to gift me those flowers. as for the vibes, the perfume can transcend us to a kitchen in a young family’s apartment, it’s beautiful and spacey, but in that point of their lives they are giving all of the attention to the kid. the father is so tired that on those christmas eve evenings he gets this idea of poisoning himself. 9,5/10 just because on some moments the gourmandise is too prominent. another chef-d’œuvre made by david, i totally understand the price point of this exact strain.

I think people are missing the point of this one. If you expect to smell every listed note all at once, then you're going to be either disappointed or relieved. Things We Never Shared is a cleverly concocted potion. You'll smell the note that resonates with you the most at any given time. I got addicted to sniffing this because I couldn't work out what I was picking up. It morphed with every other sniff. I don't think I've reached for any other decant as much because it was confounding. Ichigo Ichie is similarly so, but Things We Never Shared is a complete shape-shifter. The best thing to do with TWNS is to ignore the notes and be prepared to give it more than one wear. If you unfortunately pick up cat pee, then you may not want to, but you might be surprised trying it in different temperatures, seasons etc. For me, I really pick up the Advocaat which I had as a child with lemonade (German father didn't think it was inappropriate). I hadn't had that stuff in decades but there you go. It morphs into a fruity scent bubble next before drying down to a chocolate laced tobacco. I can't say I have paid much attention to the dry-down because I keep reapplying it. I kinda get why cat pee might come through for some people but perhaps that the animalic nature of some of the florals listed. You may or may not. The fun is in trying I think. Definitely not a safe blind buy for a full bottle (if you can even get hold of one) but a must-try if you enjoy an olfactory journey.

This is absolute magic on my skin. I was told by the sales person that I'm lucky because it doesn't smell this good on some other people. As a matter of fact, he admitted that he dislikes this fragrance because it smells strange to him, but on me it smelled different and he liked it. On me, it's a very sweet, fruity, red wine-like and dessert-like smell. It's my favourite from the brand. Very unique, artistic, exciting and interesting. One spray lasted all day on my skin and kept getting delicious whafts of it during the day. It's truly an artistic masterpiece. Passion exudes from the fragrances of this house. It's not for everybody though as we can see from other reviews; body chemistry seems to be important with this one, so sample it first. It's a very heavy and intense fragrance, so even though I usually spray 10+ times with most frags, a couple of sprays is probably enough with this one unless you want to get a headache. One of my favourite fragrance discoveries since I started collecting. 10/10

Honestly this isn’t that challenging or weird at all in my opinion... The opening does really remind me of a certain type of candy, half soft and sweet liquorice and half gummy. They’re something quite local to the Netherlands, so wouldn’t expect anyone else to know it. Long story short: I mainly get a liquorice type smell, like anise maybe, along with a sweet candy-like plum and a little sharp booziness from the mulled wine i think? In the drydown it just turns into this sweet, almost christmas-esque candy cane type smell. Lasts incredibly well, will last you through a shower for sure, im getting around 12 hours. It is a little on the feminine side in the drydown in my opinion. And it’s very wearable to me as well, way more than people make it out to be.

i think people have the wrong idea about this fragrence its not really supposed to smell good its a story about things he never shared (i assume with a girl) its about the sweet dates with wine for dinner and the black out drunk at a party and even the toxisity that they never got into its about what could have been the good and the bad. ok thats what makes me love it because i think i relate so much to that and the smells remind me of some of these things like almost nostalga but the smell? unwearable i have a sample might buy a bottle prolly not tho

This is one of the four Toskovat’ samples I got. The mulled wine and fruits are MAJOR on my skin. I get that funky, milky, almost cakey scent in the background. It’s almost like instead of milk for tres leches it’s wine/old fruit juice poured over a cake. As it dries down, I surprisingly get the hand cream accord with cacao. I don’t get the poison note unfortunately. I was surprised how much the Boyfriend and I love this one.

It's such a fantastic fragrance; wearing it truly feels like a roller coaster ride. Immediately after applying, you get the boozy Wine/Advocaat smell, where the scent of the 'Poison' comes in, but it is not tricky or unpleasant/ offensive whatsoever. After 3 hours, it shifts from this party-gone-wrong theme into the most juicy chocolate cake scent ever, indeed a unique wear and experience.

This is a real niche scent. I found it very yeasty and artisanal, like the ingredients were brewed together. In the beginning it is a little animalic but the blend becomes more and more pleasant towards the end. I found the cassis quite dominant and the perfume comes off a little fruity with a bold, unusual base. Very good performance, deserves a higher rating.

I find the people supposedly disgusted by this super weird, it's a very pleasant chocolate and christmas spices scent that dries down into nice woody and musky almonds, as someone who can't stand overly sweet gourmands, it's great. The poison note is wrong though, it's not listed on the official website and should be removed here

Might be overpriced, might be one of those perfumes that you never reach for, probably never buying a full bottle especially at retail price but still from opening to dry down there’s not a boring whiff ive had Both its silage and when i put my nose to it is beautiful and interesting

Very sweet but a diffrent kind of sweetness. I do get the mulled wine sort of smell (very juicy and fruity) but it is backed up by this very strange smell (almost like sweat or something animalic) or the poison maybe. It is very strange, I do like it but it is weird.

Spiked chocolate rum cake to die for, literally. I can assume the “poison” note gives it this off putting sharpness, almost like a warning that it’s not meant for consumption. Another weird fragrance that I need in my collection. Toskovat does it yet again. 10/10

I dont know what some of these people are saying, its artisanal beauty. I absolutely love it. I havent smelled anything like it and i have tried probably about 1000 perfumes and colognes. Very unisex, most notable is the mulled fruit and lotion.

This is such a unique smell. Im very impressed by this. Opens up slightly aggressive but settles down into this beautiful musky wet patchouli, with a LOT of plum, tobacco and sandalwood drowned in a bitter form of Chardonnay. It is very sexy!

I am one of the lucky ones who doesn't get any piss. On me this is very wearable, very unique gourmand. I smell wine and chocolate cake. The wine is a bit stale, perhaps, like someone spilled a bunch on the carpet.

This is great. Opens up kinda weird, a bit pee like, but as it dries down it gets better and better, it begins to merge with the smell of your skin and gets so comfy.

Guy i used to see said it smells like p*ss. Dont see in issue with that tbh. It reminds me of a big overripe fruit, the one you find under the tree. I love it.

I’ll admit it—I’m totally biased when it comes to Toskovat, but this bad boy still managed to catch me off guard in the best way. It’s not that “bordering unwearable” I’m usually delighted by. It’s simply wearable and mysterious. The opening is like a punch in the face (in a good way, I promise)—sharp and intense, with a mix of narcissus and mulled wine that feels sharp. There’s this sweet, almost decadent vibe too, which I’m guessing is the sachet torte. The combination is giving hurt/comfort✨ And then, right in the background, there’s this smoky note that hangs around. The initial sting calms down pretty quickly, though, the sharp and in-your-face turns into this almost skin-like sweetness, a little moody maybe a little seductive and undeniably unique. For the first half hour or so, it gave me major poison vibes the notes are so oddly accurate. It doesn’t have the lasting power that some other Toskovat fragrances do, but honestly, I’m not mad about it—it feels like it’s blending right into your skin, almost as if it was meant to be there all along. I’d wear this for something dark and romantic where you want to smell like you have a secret to tell.

So interesting. Right off the bat I keep thinking it's horrible. But then I remember I'm supposed to be smelling pastries, chocolate cake, poison and wine, and it makes sense. This really does smell like an evil tea party gone horribly wrong. The "poison" note I feel mostly comes from the boozy notes in the wine/advocaat, it's certainly interesting but can be a little headache-inducing at times. There's this deep, rich, wine-soaked chocolate cake scent that I'm getting throughout. The wood is also very slightly present at the end of the inhale. It doesn't last all that long for me and it's got an okay projection, but nothing super impressive. Definitely a very strange gourmand if you are into that sort of thing. I'm into it but I'm glad I only got the sample. I feel like I can use this for very specific occasions only 😭

getting mostly rotten plume on opening sprays, but they later flow into 3-day old cherry cake on which someone spilled some booze and herbs. I was fine with this scent and found it pretty interesting, even not taking into consideration the fact that I don't hear more than half of the notes, the general vibe of this parfum, and the history behind it. BUT, when testing it again today, before finally writing a coherent review - something unexpected happened. my gf got uncomfortably scared of this scent (mind you - she loves it normally). honestly, couldn't put my finger on why, even if I wanted to try to guess. it kinda changed my view on it since the whole situation was bizarre, something in between causing bad memories to pop up and being abruptly awoken one cold sunday night in the dark. still a hit tho.

Just got a sample of this and it's a bit unexpected. At first, it smelled VERY fruity, wine and some smoke in the background. After a few minutes some other scent crept on, idk how else to describe it better but from fruity smokey wine it went to smelling like a wine breath mixed with spit with some smoke in the background. Luckily, after another 15mins ish it got back to the initial smell, gradually getting tamer on the smoke. There's something in it that makes me think of food but i'm not sure exactly what food, maybe something baked? It would make sense based on the notes but it doesn't feel quite accturate. It stayed wine-fruity and warm throughout and lasted over 12h on my arm. The scent itself feels intimate, powerful and a bit disturbing at times.

bought a sample bc the descriptive poem was so beautiful to me and invoked such strong feelings in me. it opens incredibly floral with a strange undertone that felt uncomfortable in my nose, my mom said she felt the tobacco very strongly. it dries down to a more mild sweetness and you do get hints of the gourmands, but it is still quite floral. I enjoyed it but was a bit dissapointed bc i expected the scent in itself to take me on more of a journey, the way the description did. i have also come to realise that i am not the biggest fan of florals over all which probably heavily influenced my experience of it.

im so happy i dont get any of the unpleasant notes that you guys are commenting on because this is just smelling like christmas market mulled wine to me! youre on your second mulled wine on a very cold winter day after it rained and youre craving a pastry with raisins in it.. no poison, no puke, no piss.

bought a 1ml sample off scentsplit. The alcohol comes in really strong for the first few minutes and I don't like that but it dries down really pretty to a sweet, sort of classic perfume smell. I suppose I can really get that lotion vibe. Nice

True to the lonely European travel experience as described on the brand site: to me, this smells like a dirty train station, then some kind of alcoholic drink, then sex. It's nauseating but I can't get it out of my head (in the best way).

Things We Never Shared...specifically, body fluid. This is a sweaty, B/O type of smell. Albeit not unpleasant. The mishmash of fruit is almost indescribable. Melon galore. Plum and honey. This is quite a blend. I’m impressed.

this is actually one of the best layering frags out there. It compliments other fragrances so perfectly and i think it's the plum note that really sticks out and mixes really well with other notes.

I kid you not I know this brand has some strange ideas but I swear I can smell a pussy note here. Can you smell it or is it just me?

i wish i could tell you what the hell was going on in this. some of these notes ive never really smelled in a perfume before so i'm not sure what note it is that's causing this right out of the bottle, it is SICKENINGLY sweet, like a piece of hard candy or specifically (to me) a melon ramune soda. i don't know why it smells so similar to that. the mandarin is VERY strong and apparent, and the hyacinth and narcissus aren't terrible. now, what i can only assume is the advocaat is what's doing the next part. as it dried down, that sweet scent dissipated, and while it was still there and lending a very interesting gentle sweetness, now it was revealing the true horrors. an odd, damp basement smell lay under it. and as that dried, something akin to body odor. this is absolutely a scent journey of a smell. now, after a few more minutes, that body odor smell has given way to a very mild sweet candy scent, akin to a more japanese grape candy, and while the damp basement smell is laying under it, it's not horrific anymore. at first i almost thought i wouldn't recommend this, but now i think if you really want something sweet and almost childish and are willing to withstand the few minutes of confusion, i wouldn't say this isn't a terrible scent for a candy cute sort of vibe. even as time passes, it becomes more flowery and pleasant. i actually don't mind this too terribly! i will update if that changes with even more time EDIT: I have tried this a couple more times, and personally the response I get to it makes this an "at home" scent. It just smells so strongly of... musty basement and according to my partner, "cat piss". It's just not very pleasant, and that not pleasant note tends to hang around even when it dries down. I recommend a sample at best, but overall this isn't something I'd risk wearing out for fear of just smelling like cat pee.

A head-scratcher from me. Pineapple Dole Whip ice cream near the zoo's giraffe enclosure? Oddly, it smells nothing like My Past Selves' Flowers, so I must not have the adequate vocabulary to describe this one. It's not bad, that opening is lovely, but there's this sharp sweet-and-sour acidic fruit scent that borders on "hangover puke" but not entirely unpleasant, just puzzling to say the least. There's no pineapple listed, but it smells heavily acidic. Must be the orange. Almost a candy Mike-and-ike's scent (which I know aren't super acidic, but the smell is similarly more chemical than natural.) Then, there’s an whiff of something more animalic and barnyard-like, opposite of that volatile fruitiness. Might be the spikenard and myrrh.. The chocolate note listed shows up as dry Hershey’s cocoa powder rather than a chocolate bar. On my skin, this is surprisingly fleeting which is rare for Toskovat' but not unheard of. It pretty much fades within an hour. Not really an elegant plum wine perfume and more like an odd, drunken trip to the zoo and a Dole Whip. For such a wide array of notes, I really wish I could tell you more, but I can't. I wish I was picking up on the advocaat.

The chocolate and alcohol hit me in the face at first. Then there is something that makes me kinda uncomfortable, I'm assuming it's the egg custard/Advocaat. The cassis and plum notes are quite strong and keep coming to the top of the sniff. I can understand the balance of fruit with the chocolate but... it's a lot. I think I'm not used to plum as a note yet. I get the wood, the tobacco...once it gets to this point in the wear I enjoy what's happening. I'm so stumped by this one. I can't decide if I like it or if I don't like it, but it actually doesn't matter. I'm just going to sit with it for a while and and feel it and try not to intellectualize it too much. I can sense the sadness in this one.

initial spray is very piss-forward on my skin, after a few minutes it dries down to a really nice unique gourmand that goes between overripe fruity to day old bread and sweets, or maybe the back of a pastry shop. it is a pretty thick feeling scent in that it almost feels like it coats your throat. i feel like i catch a passing whiff of piss every here and there after the dry down. unfortunately something in this is giving me a bit of a headache so with that + the peepee i don’t think this will be promoted to full bottle but i’m glad to have a decant

Really powerful and boozey right off the bat, smelled like fruity wine to the point where it was like intoxicating and overpowering which is where I think the “poison” comes into play, it was like the moment where you know you f’d up and have gotten too drunk. Then came a piss smell... which seems to go along with the theme of this fragrance. When you smell hard enough you can get some chocolate cake and some other sweet smells but it’s mostly overpowered by the stale urine smell for me.

this fragrance makes my stomach turn it’s the most overpowering sweet concoction it reminds me of gluttony and overconsumption, i image a party where everything is sitting out and mixing in the air. but this i can’t make out what anything is it’s wildly fruity but sweet and confectionery but boozy and creamy laconic it’s so much all at once

Upon the initial spray, it's alcoholic (boozy) and smells just like a psychedelic shop. The middle notes definitely give off a piss smell lmao. The dry down is sweet with creamy sandalwood and a bit of green freshness. This one was a wild ride to experience

Reminds me of an east coast renaissance fair in the fall. Homemade mulled wine, plums and damp earthy trees.

This is one of my biggest misses from Toskovat’. I can respect the idea, but on my skin it becomes thick, fermented, bitter, and genuinely off-putting. The opening gives me bitter almond and dense boozy dark fruit right away. Not soft marzipan, not sweet amaretto, not almond extract in a pretty gourmand way. It reads sharper and more medicinal, tangled with a heavy wine-like accord that immediately turns sour and fermented to my nose. It reminds me of mulled wine, oxidized fruit, and almond liqueur that has sat too long in a warm room. As it develops, I get more of the gourmand structure, but it still does not become cozy or edible to me. There is a bread note, but not soft fresh bread. It smells more like stale bread or dense pastry left out too long. The honey, candied almond, cacao, and dark fruit notes all blend into something sticky and heavy rather than delicious. There is also a strange claustrophobic skin-like aspect underneath it, which makes the whole thing feel even more unsettling. Not clean skin or warm musk, but more like human warmth trapped under dense booze, old pastry, and bitter almond. In the base, I get a woody cacao quality that should be rich, but instead it mixes with the fermented fruit and stale bread effect in a way that makes it feel muddy and stale. It is just too thick, too fermented, and too sour-edible in the wrong way. Overall, I respect the composition, but I would never wear it- frankly, it makes me a bit nauseous. I can see how some of these notes can mix together to create a "poison" accord.

Sour-sweet in the worst sense possible. In this whole barrage of notes, half of which don’t even make sense, I can only theorize what makes it so sour, not even tangy, sour; like something gone spoiled. Wine, plum and... poison (???) There are so many notes that should be pleasant to the nose, gourmand and sweet, but none of them comes forward. You won’t get toffee, or cake, a-ny-thing. Just this off-putting linear pissy smell. That might at some point fool you and make you think on an Nth hour of wearing it that it isn’t so bad. But then you spray it again some day, remember what you’ve been promised, and get angry all over again. Just general advice if you got baited with quirky notes, think twice. Think whether it is genuinely possible to pull off the whole dumpster of notes Toskovat' presents in description. If you're tempted, go with those that look safe, which by my experience are so far—Generation Godard, Age of Innocence and Empty Wishes Well. If you have money to spare for a quirky fragrance gacha, go ahead get this one, or Anarchist A, or Annacamento. Just don't expect being wowed by chemical concoction they end up being

knew this was gonna be challenging but for some reason i was optimistic all the pretty, sweet (macarons! sacher torte! toffee! honey!) notes would triumph over anything weird and... they don't lol. it's not as nasty as it could be, but it's definitely an overwhelming cassis (and i usually like cassis!) and mulled wine bomb. i thought i'd like the mulled wine aspect, and maybe i would without all the cassis, but it's definitely mulled wine with star anise which i hate. it does get more bearable the longer you wear it, but it takes until like hour 6 to dry down into something i'd feel confident wearing in the presence of another human being. and even then it's palatable not enjoyable. overall rating: 🩷🩷🖤🖤🖤 2/5

I was really excited to try this perfume based on the notes but it smells like really bad lol... you definitely get the notes of mulled wine and chocolate, but with like an extra layer of something sinister in the WORST way possible. i had to scrub this off of my skin after not even a full five minutes. I think this is definitely an acquired taste, i can see how some people out there would absolutely love how unconventional this smells, but i couldn’t do it sadly.

The poison note is so insanely strong it was almost all I could smell. It felt like it was burning my nose, it was truly awful. Almonds expiring in cyanide. As if they were rotting. Horrible. It wouldn't wash off either.

My goodness, I can appreciate the mental image this scent evokes, but it is entirely unpleasant--actually, it is down right *foul*. Definitely not something I could ever wear in public as I would fear it would make others (and myself!) nauseous... or, possibly worse, that we were "hit" by something in the air and the clock was running out. THAT is what it rouses: a sense of impending doom. While I appreciate the craftsmanship, this is a hard pass. Oh, and the ever-so-slight (but not entirely subtle) scent of urine just continues to waft throughout the entire ordeal. So a real life horror movie where the individual releases their bladder out of panic. Lovely stuff.

Seriously though, any brand that lists “poison” and “advocaat” as notes automatically gets thrown into the gimmicky trash pile in my books. *What* kind of poison? Cyanide? Novichok? Rat poison? Mustard Gas?? Not to mention, how tf am I supposed to know what it smells like, or the perfumer - for that matter? It’s as useful and believable as saying something tastes like lava. With this and Anarchist A, the brand has clearly chosen to “wow” potential customers with their gimmicky note lists rather than trusting themselves to deliver a scent that actually smells intriguing. It’s sad to see a new and clearly daring brand going in this direction.

One of the worst things I’ve ever worn lol. Wanted to love so much however genuinely smells like u lather urself in a bitter going off cake from a cafe no one likes, then went into the porta potty bungee jump from jackass. girlfriend loved it phahaha Sorry lol dry down is ALOT better, sweeter and more enjoyable however for me, simply smelling this at the opening shuts down my brain and nose into lockdown so only others with tolerance can enjoy the dry down

Before you guys come at me, remember this is my opinion. The first time i sprayed this, i wanted to throw up. The alcoholic beverages are all i can smell for the first 30 minutes. It breaks down into a variety of notes but overall still smells very bad,, i even compare it to the smell of melted plastic. Defenitly not wearable unless you want to chase people away.

Ngl, this kind of smells like vomit. I absolutely hate it if I have to be honest and I'd say inexcusable evil is even more wearable. Everything else I have smelled from Toskovat is amazing and I love my bottle on annacamento. But damn this is horrid
