Embers

This opens with the most amazing Mysore sandalwood. This is the real stuff: thick, dense and incensy. If you have ever been in a Hindu temple, you will recognise the smell. And then, without warning, the lushest and most narcotic rose emerges. Like the rose petals used to pay homage to the deities, and the rosewater sprinkled on devotees, the rose note only intensifies the association with the holy place of worship. In the drydown, the most delicate vanilla comes through, a sublime performance after the hard hitting opening sequence. A remarkable fragrance with very high vibrations. I would put this on when I'm feeling spiritual and introspective. Perfect for doing energy work. Or as an opulent oriental perfume for the bold. Teone's all natural fragrances are extremely pure and of high quality. Even the EDP concentration leaves an oily residue on the skin after spraying. And her perfume compositions are amazing. Teone Reinthal has a magical way with mysore sandalwood. In her hands it becomes a velvety liquid, bringing a softness and a base that lingers and anchors her fragrances so beautifully. Embers begins with this magical elixir, steps down ever so softly so the vanilla and rose can saunter in and bewitch. It's ever so lighty herbal and spicy, never once upstaging the rose and the sandalwood. They sit together regally atop their thrones of vanilla and labdunam - their sweetness joyful, never cloying or upstaging the true stars. And yes, there is a soft smokiness that dances between the rose and sandalwood, which remains long after the fire has died down to embers. Embers sensuality cannot and will not be ignored. It is a fragrance that lingers on twisted sheets in the early light of the morning, still warm - a reminder. This is a fragrance for a fragrance lover, not to be overlooked or treated as a casual splash. It is magic, it is a dance for the senses and one you will not soon forget.

Embers is my first experience with TRNP, a house which I have been dying to dip my toes into, and what a stunning introduction this is. This is a true celebration of amber, in all its glorious splendour with none of the juvenile immaturity you find in most amber perfumes today. Dominated by thick and leathery resins, the dense chewiness of benzoin is somewhat smoky and even a little alcoholic. The vanilla sweetens the affair significantly, alongside touches of rose and warm spices. It’s incredibly smooth and inviting, yet holds a certain darkness. This is a fantastic fragrance, it epitomises everything I love about Amber - when it’s done right. I would love to own this one day, but more importantly I’m now compelled to explore this house further.

I own the 2018 oil perfume version and the 2021 EDP. This is a perfect sandalwood vanilla, mellow, creamy, and luscious, full of depth. The oil version with a concentration of nearly 50% is very long lasting, easily over 18 hours. After the drydown, there is the most divine Madagascar vanilla I have ever met. Although it is not a gourmand, my ideal vanilla perfume should be just like its aftertaste. The 2021 EDP has more aged Mysore sandalwood, more pure woodinesses, and a hint cola-like Effervescent in the beginging. Vanilla here has a little floral and cherry scent. It makes me feel peaceful and indulgent at the same time. This is a precious treasure that my whole family loves.

Oh, this is lovely. Bit of a camphorous whiff on opening but that fades within minutes. Vanilla is dominant; a glorious, sumptuous vanilla which feels lit from within. Sandalwood and rose surge up behind the vanilla and create olfactory poetry, reminding me of swoony middle-eastern sandalwood-rose unions. I wore this side-by-side with Ajmal's Rose Wood for comparison. Rose Wood is a more beautiful, deeper sandalwood-rose perfume - smooth, plush and velvety rich - although Embers has that ultra cosy comforting vibe which vanilla creates. Embers 2021 is the spiritual successor of my very desired Santal de Mysore by Serge Lutens. Where the Lutens is a very spicy gourmand and kinda borders on body odor, Embers is a bit toned down on the spices without loosing the prominent buttery Mysore which lasts for the whole 12 hours. It also creates a scent bubble that I could always sniff it without putting my nose on my wrists. Midway the most gorgeous amber/vanilla accord pops and it blends so well with the Mysore and spices creating something that I never want to fade away.

Embers is a fantastic cold weather, dry climate, winter perfume. The opening begins with a twist of citrusy lime/bergamot and spices that match the Rose heart and Ambery/Benzoin, Sandalwood, and Vanilla base nicely. The bourbon vanilla has a red tinge of cherry in the base that warms my heart like a nice hug. Mysore Sandalwood is the star of the show in Embers and it smoulders for hours filling my soul with warmth. Embers is a fitting name for a fragrance that warms my spirits in the coldest of winters.

I'm not sure if my bottle is 2012 or 2020 but in cold weather this is beautiful and creamy on me with a hint of lactonic vanilla, lasts over 12 hours and on my mask smelled beautif and cosy too. I think it may be skin and weather dependent as so many perfumes are. I can totally see why people fall in love with this one though. I don't know any other sandalwood fragrances as smooth as this. There's not even a hint of cedary woodshavings.

Beautiful sandalwood!! And luxurious rose, and soft, smooth, creamy vanilla. What a luxurious perfume!!! It definitely has a high, exotic, oriental, royal, opulent, meditative, temple-of-worship feel, and puts me into a beautiful calm and inward-looking state. I enjoy wearing it so much. It's so comforting and reassuring, and makes me, and my husband, and anyone else around, feel beautifully happy and peaceful. It's glorious!!!

Embers 2021 is one of my favorite fragrances in my whole collection. It smells so amazing it's almost narcotic. The sandalwood is thick and rich and seamlessly blended with vanilla and spices in such a way that it makes the sandalwood even more accessible. Rich, creamy, rewarding in every way that a fragrance can be. This is a "can't miss" fragrance experience in my book. Just brilliant work by Dr. Reinthal...pure joy!

Embers is like a hug. It's creamy and full bodied and smells like you're wrapped in the arms of some beckoning Goddess bringing you in from the cold. Be prepared to be sniffed by everyone, everywhere. It's like an invitation to come close. It really is divine. The benzoin sits out in front with the bourbon vanilla and a good dollop of sandalwood. It's expertly crafted and a big, big love of mine.

Embers is right. The sandalwood hints at flame and sentiment, and while sweet it never comes close to cloying – there’s a definite lingering royalty that occupies the air, enriching the breeze on which it travels and leaving glimpses, restrained, of elegance and of life. It smells of smouldering, and has the rich smoke of love. Very much recommended.

Embers is a fire burning in a cold damp forest. Like sweet, fresh smoke, it curls around your body. Embers is the big bad wolf, or the forest nymph who fucks your brains out. Embers is sweet and rough like a deadly dessert, warm like a flame you can wear. DO NOT wear this in summer or in a hot climate. Strictly for cold misty days only.

I liked my sample in the summer, but it’s even better in cold weather. I usually dislike perfumes with prominent woody notes but this wood is amazing (which makes sense of course being real Mysore sandalwood!). The gentle spices, rose touch and vanilla/benzoin come out more on my skin in the cold and becomes almost gourmand.

The loveliest sandalwood I've ever experienced. Rub into the wrists - it will be enough, and will last the day. The other notes are very subtle. The benzoin plays a little in the first moments, and the labdanum visits later and stays awhile. The sandalwood is constant.

Don't wear this perfume out in public if you are in a hurry. I constantly have to tell people how come I am leaving a trail of unicorns and fairy funk in my wake. Then again if you like attention and enjoy smelling like a god this is defiitely for you!

Embers is an old world European kitchen where spiced, herbal bread is baking in a cast iron oven and German stollens are being coated in white icing. The fairytale associations are very accurate here! Also note: kids love this one!

A decant of Embers 21 is the batch I have, not tried the others. Warm amber, a nice vanilla and spices make this a nice comforting scent. It differentiates itself from many other amber vanillas with a chalky creaminess (I guess the sandalwood) and some powdery rose. The labdanum here lends an ever so slightly animalic touch also. It's a little (and I stress little, they are not identical at all) like Xerjoff Richwood but sweeter and more rich, ironically. As with that fragrance I find the addition of rose here edges it to a bit more of the feminine side of unisex, but not too much. Enjoyable and impressive performance given its all natural, but I am unlikely to get a full bottle of this as I don't love it enough for the price point.

Sweet sandalwood and smoke. Not your average smoke though, more like sulfuric smoke from a firework. Nothing outstanding. You can buy something similar from your local headshop. The reviews are are truly bizarre to me after wearing this. EDIT: My review is for the 2020 review. I just received a sample of the 2012 version and it's much better. It's missing the sulfurous scent I get from the 2020 version. This smells like a woody vanilla extract. It's nice, but no way near $220 for 30ml for vanilla...

I have a 2012 batch & for some odd reason it smells like my LaMer face cream.... It also gives off Nivea cream vibes & dare I say Dove soap... the white bar!! So weird hu? Of course It has a woody undertone but all together I get strong LaMer/Nivea vibes. I sometimes get a nutty buttery slight camphor scent if I put my nose to it. It’s a good after shower scent to feel clean and comforted. Smells like a high class body cream. Interesting
