Nefertum

Something happened to me today that was really unexpected and I thought that I must share. So I bought these 2 TRNP fragrances for my birthday, straight from Australia 🇦🇺, as Teone was doing a 50% sale of her back catalogue. I immediately jumped at the opportunity and was both excited and scared, due to these being a blind buy and I hadn't a clue about anything. Then there was 4 days of absolute headache with DHLs delivery, but they safely made it today 🍾👏 So, I'm going out to a little get together with some ladies this afternoon and I know that Nefertum is going to be my SOTD, as this fragrance, is the one I have been waiting for the most, but I don't know what to expect. I specifically choose Nefertum from the catalogue, as the notes were right up my alley, so I knew that there was a massive chance that I am gonna like it. So I apply it and quickly dash out of the house, without really having the time to sniff it. And then to my complete surprise, I have an olfactory de ja vu experience, whilst sitting on the bus! 🤣🤣 I recognise this scent and I know it because I've worn it before, but on the previous occasion it was drier and less sweet. And I know this for sure as I had a decant of it, that I wore heavily one whole winter in 2018. So it the scent is firmly etched into my scent memory and that scent is Anubis by Papillon Artisan Perfumes, no doubt about it.. To my nose, Nefertum is 100% a blood relative of Anubis and when I looked up the notes, it kind of confirmed what my nose was smelling even more. Nefertum is: Blue Lotus, Cardamon, Saffron, Cinnamon, Clove, Taif Rose, Myrrh, Frankincense and Mysore Sandalwood. Anubis is : Egyptian Jasmine, Pink Lotus, Saffron, Immortelle, Clove, Frankincense and Suede. And in this composition the DNA of these two fragrances is very, very similar and its quite uncanny. So far, I do prefer Anubis because the dryness is extraordinary and you really get that arid, otherworldly, Egyptian element. And perhaps thats due to it almost being incense like and quite heady; but Nefertum is very nice too. I feel that the Sandlewood accord, Myrrh, Taif Rose and blue lotus, really stand out and the quality of these ingredients is sublime, so I'm definitely going to enjoy it. As I really wanted something that had real Mysore Sandalwood and Lotus in it especially, which it does in this case.

Prominent spice but incredibly smooth and addicting. Featuring: Blue lotus, minty cardamom, clove and labdanum. Probably tons more but nothing I can pinpoint in this very complex creation. The lotus really gives this perfume its buttery, yet punchy oumph. To me, blue lotus has this thick, meaty character that is totally unique to any other floral profile I've felt and it quickly became one of my top 5 florals, especially when used in perfume. Amazing scent and my SOTD this christmas.

Nefertum opens with an intoxicating blue lotus, swirled with spices such as saffron, cinnamon, cardamom, and clove. As it develops the lotus lays on a bed of sandalwood, myrrh, and and olibanum. The far drydown is mostly sandalwood and an authentic rose. Incredibly smooth and interesting. Lotus is one of my favorite florals. It’s underused, but so well done here.
