Grafton

We've arrived back at the English barbershop: a little fruit and light florals on top of anise, wintergreen (?) and sweet spices. This is very sweet, but it's also well-balanced, and nothing sticks out at me in excess. It could be one of few barbershop fragrance that I really like, and I think a big contributor to this is sandalwood...just a little bit of Egoiste underneath everything else. I almost don't know what to say because so many of this genre involve me complaining about them overdoing one note and spoiling what seems like it should be such a conventional, no-brainer scent. It has some of the same dusty, moderated sweet spice as in Trafalgar, but it's in much stronger company here with the woody notes. The one drawback here is that there's a little smoke in the base which isn't terribly well done, and has some of the waxy, oily character of Preferred Stock, but it's hardly noticeable.

The manliest thing I’ve ever smelled—hands down. If you want to smell like a working man who actually takes care of himself, this is it. It’s clean, soapy, and just animalic enough to feel rugged without tipping into try-hard macho. Very “barbershop,” but not in a gentle, cucumber-aftershave way—more like you’re getting lined up before stepping into an old-school boxing ring, sweat in the air, crowd roaring, hair slicked back just enough to mean business. Longevity and projection are solid on me, but I’ve got dry skin—maybe that’s the difference. Either way, this stuff sticks around like calluses and confidence.

This is an amazing English barber shop cologne. It's extremely nuanced and hard to place. The perfume pyramid described is accurate, but I struggle to elaborate on it. It's a stunning scent, but I can't find something to compare it to. I can only say that it's wonderful and you should give it a try. I would absolutely pay full price for this gem.

I'm loving this! It's ultra-masculine with an old-school barbershop feel. This is one of my favorite styles for men's fragrances. It's aromatic and slightly soapy, and it's not overbearing or screechy. I'd love this on a man, but I'm a woman and I'd wear it...it's just that good!

Divine smell to our senses. I shower, shave and apply this cologne in the morning and feel on top of the world. It could of been my all time favorite cologne but hardly stays on my skin for more than 2 hours. 8/10

To me, it smells like a light version of Chanel Antaeus, with an added violet leaves. Extremely easy to wear, but has a distinguished character. Not animalic, not smokey AT ALL! I bought samples of all the T&H(9), and this is one of the only two that speak to me. Longevity is so-so, and projection non existent, unfortunately; but I must say, it's just a few drops, as the samples are not sprays but dabbers. Still, it's a like.

Another super fresh, aromatic barbershop scent from T&H. In this case I do find the leather complements the green aromatics to create an extremely clean, masculine scent that reminds me of a shower gel. I do think the soft florals give this a slightly more modern feel and cut down on the harsh aromatic freshness. Its really nothing incredible to me, but I do enjoy smelling it so I'll give it a 7/10.

Green and sour freshness, as a time goes a green note became less punchy with light astrigent undertone and final drydown was amber/soft leather. This goes very well in line with other barber shop "feeling fresh" fragrances from T&H which has Aquatic - 1805, zesty lemongrass- Trafalgar, two kind of floral/herbaceous- Clubman and Freshman, woody - Sandalwood and Apsley and aromatic Spanish Leather

Nice fresh `just washed` smell. Sort of reminds me of a quieter version of Penhaligon`s English Fern..........in fact I prefer it because it isn`t as harsh or too green, ferny or oakmossy, If you catch my drift.

Grafton is a bit of an enigma. It has a barbershop, green feel, but is also airy and aqueous, with touches of musk and leather. Its like a green, blue, and leather fragrance, all being pleasant in its own right, but not really excelling at being anything. It's nice in parts, but for me, it didn't work as a whole. In addition, after about 1.5 hours, my skin began to itch at the application site. I'll pass on this one.

(Sample) It begins very woodsy and grassy. It absolutely reminds me of classic Aramis. Towards the base notes, it does not change all that much but it definitely transforms into a shaving soap scent. I wouldn't mind shaving with this, but I think it's not very interesting for an everyday cologne.

This is a nice fragrance. It is not bad. It is not great. It smells as I imagine a classic shaving cream should. Worth trying, you maybe more enthusiastic about it. The aftershave samples are inexpensive on the T&H website.

This is so very clean and soapy, like how you'd imagine a nice barber shop to smell. I've never had a fancy wet shave, but I imagine I'd be smelling this. It's kinda spicy, but then there's that fresh and soapy feel to it. It's not incredibly complex, but it's not something that you just smell on anyone. It's a mainstream pleaser, without being mainstream. It's taking that soapy saving experience and dialing it up so everyone can smell without having to be right in your face just after shaving. For a cologne concentration, this lasts a long time. I can get through the workday 8-5 and still smell it. The price of the bottles are very fair, too: $75 at full price for a 3.4 ounce is an incredible value. I'd buy direct if I were you; some resellers try to overcharge for the same product you can get from the manufacturer, which is ridiculous. You should also consider their shaving creams; it's the best on the market, top-notch lather and comfort. Everything they've got is excellent, including their customer service. They're the total package for sure.

Grafton (1983) inspired clearly Adidas Sport Field (coming out in 1991) and Lacoste Original. Even if not listed in the piramyd, I detect a luxurious orange opening in the vein of Hermes Eau d'orange verte. It is a very good fragrance, discrete and with adequate longevity. I have the new bottle, with the front of pack labeling less magnificient than it was but still good, and T&H confirmed to me this is a new batch. I feel it blurs the line beteeen fougere and cyphre. If you are fond of the oldies and untemporal perfumes...give it a try.

Reminds me of Barbasol Pacific Rush in the dry down. It's a scent that can be worn by just about any age if you ask me. It's a good citrusy/green fragrance that smells nice and modern but still a lot different from the average Joe's scent. Though it is still modern, it has a slightly old fashion nature to it that's great but not overpowering if you're worried about smelling like an "old man."

Old-school barbershop feel, with a definite oakmossy woodiness grounding the soft herbal fizz on top. Certainly akin to a high grade shaving foam, and rather nondescript and conservative in the English tradition. With that said, I question why anyone would opt for this over something with more contour like YSL Jazz, Aramis Tuscany, or Azzaro PH.

An aromatic green/herbaceous fougere that can do great on the Tsar/Gucci Nobile axis. Woodier than the former and stronger than the latter but never loud. A classic barbershop style composition. Rating: 7/10

Averagey traditional English cologne in the line of Aramis or Dunhill for Men say. A £20-30 fragrance like them IMO. Not distinctive or excellent enough to be worth what they charge for it
