Spanish Leather

The aftershave smells even better than the cologne. Either way to me, it hits a similar note to Ralph Lauren Safari and a hint of Old Spice and even faintly reminds me of the dry down of Dior Sauvage Elixir,which is my favorite version of that line. It's not exactly the same, and it predates those, but one of the first times I wore this to work, I'm sure I was the only one wearing cologne in the room and was feeling somewhat self-conscious until one of the ladies from admin walked in and said "wow. It smells like man in here!" I have gotten other compliments on it too. Nowadays I'm probably old enough to fit the profile for the stuff, but I still break it out once in awhile. It's a very nice touch after a good shave, and I always feel classy wearing it. Never got the pee aspect others mentioned, but it's possible I have a pre-reformulation bottle.

Finally a barbershop scent that doesn't assault you with Lavander, patchuli or sandalwood. Doesn't smell like 1950s green like a lot of these. Extremely refreshing.

Another member I know proclaimed this stuff to be completely devoid of leather, and I see what he meant in the sense of how soapy and sweet it is. The very top notes are surpsingly dry and citrusy, with spices way down underneath as in Trafalgar. The lavender comes out in front, so as usual I feel like I need to wait it out, but it doesn't take long for a sweet resinous leather/soap to emerge, with spices similar to those in Bel Ami but not as overdone. It does get sweeter and soapier into the mid notes, and less truly leathery, but for those of you like me who hate things as nightmarishly sweet and floral as Creed Royal English Leather, it's not nearly that strong. Still, a little bit of the bubblegum note from REL is in here, and it gives a slight candy vibe which I could do without. There's a lot of vanilla in the base as well, which doesn't help. This fragrance is trying to wear many hats, and not entirely succeeding with all of them. I think it's trying to have more leather content than Trumper's ill-named Spanish Leather, but it doesn't quite know how to do it. Ultimately, I still like it because the end result of this failed multitasking is a very creamy wood fragrance, close to Davidoff's Zino, but you have to be careful with it because it's so sweet.

So far this is quickly the most unique and engaging scent from Truefitt of the 5 or so I've sampled so far. It's extremely powdery, which is not expected for a leathery scent but it works for me. The musky and dark sweet notes balance it out and give it an almost chocately feel. I honestly really like it. If my barber splashed this on me after a haircut I'd definitely be asking what it is. I understand why some people don't like this, but I'll give it an 8 out of 10 as it does achieve the barbershop scent profile while being pretty interesting and engaging.

As the other quite unique creations from this house, not easy to compare directly to other known fragrances. It is an enjoyable scent resembling the spices in Sex Appeal by Jovan, with a dry down somehow reminiscent of the Versace l’Homme. Performance is lacking as other reviews have stressed, but has a good complexity and personality.

Starts with citrus soapy notes which are gone within minutes and replaced with hot leather smell. In 1-2 hours letheary notes subside and give very pleasant ambery aromatic musky drydown, something old&classy. I would take it for drydown only

At first, reminds me of a Aramis with lavender. It ends in a sweet floral musk. Very warm and pleasant. I like it

Notes according to the T&H sample sleeve are: top: bergamot, orange and pimento heart: lavender, clove base: leather, amber, musk, vanilla and tonka. The lavender is strong. Sadly for me it's the English type, dusty-minty with a hint of vomit and is a key player in making this smell dated. Voters on Fragrantica are probably voting for "aldehydes" when they mean the lavender? And yes - that's it: Zino Davidoff comes to mind too. Zino is great, and better. Spanish Leather lasts quite a long time and ends up smelling like old Guerlinade with only a hint of leather. It is a bit outdated but still nice. But again, I'd choose Zino over this.

I just don't like this. It opens fairly predictably, with a sharp zing of citrus and herbs, but then a peculiar note emerges: A crisp leather/birch accord, not bold or animalic, but rather tart, dry and tinged with ozone, almost aquatic -I have a feeling violet leaf must be present here, although not listed. This clean, pinched leather/birch accord dominates with a vague hint of dry herbs in the background. The effect ultimately smells like a watered down cousin of Chanel "Antaeus", which has a far more convincing leather note and a richer tone throughout, in my opinion. I'd go for Antaeus instead.

Rendez-vous with a cowboy! There's a line between sexy and dirty; I'm afraid it's the latter with this one. The leather is "raw" here; for me, it smells like a leather tannery, with fresh...(I will spare you the details!) It's the older cousin of Peau de Bête, and is friends with Sultan Vetiver. A definite pass. Edit: If you are willing to wait for about 3 hours, the late dry down isn't actually so bad; it still smells leathery, but I get mostly cinnamon, carnations and sandalwood.

Ok I can't be the only one who thinks this smells like pee. Ridiculous that people would want to smell like this lol

Se avete modo di sentirla da vecchi tester ben conservati è una fragranza che veramente fa la concorrenza alla più costosa nicchia proprio per un viaggio tripartito assai definito come indica la piramide olfattiva. Si apre ,come hanno giustamente osservato anche altri, con una agrumato dall'effetto molto disinfettante o profumatore autogrill, Io direi In senso buono , rinfrescante, che subito sfocia in una componente più speziata e dolce. In questo senso la sola apertura può ricordarci un percorso affine a quello dell'intera evoluzione del moderno Versace l'Homme. Ad un certo punto nel cuore come per incantesimo lo scenario cambia leggermente e Gli agrumi cominciano a lasciare spazio ad un accordo quasi stallatico e realistico di cuoio che forse a qualcuno può ricordare ,anche proprio associato all'apertura agrumata, una strana esperienza nei bagni dell'Autogrill Ma anche in questo caso passatemi il paragone perché lo dico in senso buono (ahahah). Fino a qui il realismo di cuoio creato per accordo ha dato Onore al nome per poi sfociare anche in questo caso in modo definito, nel fondo tradizionale del Tipico cuoio spagnolo che ricorda leggermente anche il fondo del Peau d'Espagne (o a tratti anche "Lana") di Santa Maria Novella ovvero un fondo di erbe secche e croccanti retrò e masculino di quelli fatti veramente bene. Una volta compreso che i miei paragoni buffi mettendomi in modo ironico nei panni dei più ignoranti utenti olfattivi legati alla profumeria moderna e diabetica sono in realtà per molti di noi nostalgici rappresentazione delle nostre fragranze classiche d'epoca preferite, va considerato il solito problema delle riformulazioni e soprattutto del fatto che queste colonie o per la conservazione e gli sbalzi di temperatura o a causa del risparmio che è stato fatto per gli scuotitori dei Becker, alle volte ci arrivano spente. Per questo motivo bisogna essere fortunati a trovare un flacone che consenta di vivere appieno questa fragranza attraverso questo viaggio olfattivo così ben definito e tra l'altro longevo. il rischio di trovare flaconi i cui Oli si siano micro cristallizzati e perciò risulti La fragranza totalmente morta e lineare è assai alto... questo al di là delle riformulazioni delle quali non ho capito poi così tanto perché girano confezioni nuove con liste ingredienti che sembrano molto datate e perciò mi viene anche il sospetto che siano stati inseriti i flaconi nuovi in scatole ormai vecchie anche (dubbio anche dato da strane diciture che invitano a riutilizzare per le referenze future la stessa scatola proprio sotto la lista degli ingredienti🤔). Morale della lunga forse troppo lunga favola, si tratta di un capolavoro storico ma poter accedere a tale esperienza rimane pur sempre un lusso per pochi e non mi riferisco alla spesa poiché online si trovano anche a prezzo ottimo... Spero non interrompano mai la produzione in ogni caso e che riescano a garantire quella massima qualità che questa fragranza può offrire

I'm reminded of a few things smelling this classy Cologne, firstly a spicey bayrum (light bayrum) , creed viking and old spice , in the end though it doesn't stick around long enough for me to start making a song and dance about it, however in a wash bag as an old school easy reach it is absolutely fine, like all truefitt fragrances this is very wearable and classy with limited performance.

An old-fashioned powerhouse fragrance that isn't so much about leather as it is about aromatic and spicy elements. It's similar to Versace L'Homme (Gianni Versace's original men's scent), but less sweet, or maybe Kouros, but a lot less animalic/musky. Either way, if you're a fan of old-fashioned powerhouse fragrances, I'd check this one out. To me, it's just okay.

WOW this is pure animal to me. It feels like it should be advertised by Burt Reynolds with his moustache, shirt unbuttoned, with a medallion nestled in his chest hair..........or maybe this is Sex Panther as used in Anchorman. Funny thing is..........I kinda like it. Just don't over spray it. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I've always really wanted to like this, and part of me does. This is how I imagine Wilford Brimley smelling; it's pure old man in a bottle. Very leathery, but it comes across synthetic to me. It's pure novelty to me. However, if you're shopping for your grandad, he'd probably love this!

This is the middle ground of Davidoff Zino and Tom Ford's Beau de Jour. Doesn't smell as cheap and off putting as Zino and find this very wearable. Get around 4 hours from this.
