Success

I purchased this cologne (along with the accompanying deodorant and shower gel in the gift set) when looking to move on from my bottle of Nautica Voyage being my regular fragrance, and was pleasantly surprised with the very clean smell. Smells like one fresh out of the shower, having used some sort of nice expensive body wash or such. For me its works in both casual and formal situations, not seeming overpowering, underwhelming, or smelling cheap in either situation. I was surprised a celebrity fragrance (by none other than Donald Trump, even!) didn't smell synthetic or just bad, especially for what I think is a great price on this fragrance! The day it arrived, I found myself constantly taking the bottle just to smell it. It's quite good to me, and everybody that's commented on it, loves it. The masculine, fresh, clean smell fits very well with the name Success. It doesn't go away quickly for me either, I get about 5-6 hours with it. And a small review of the Success deodorant and shower gel (there is also an after shave but I did not purchase this): Both smell very similar to the cologne, obviously. The deodorant smells pretty much exactly like the very cheap Ocean Surf - Speed Stick deodorant, though it does feel nicer to put on your skin to me. The shower gel smells like the Success cologne but with far more citrus (and smells very nice; like a fragrance I would love to purchase!) Smells kind of similar to Speed Stick Ocean Surf (just a similar vibe) but with far more luxury, depth, and far more notes and thought. Out of the 60 or so fragrances I have sitting in my house, none are quite like this one. Honestly very unique I think, and that's surprising for a celebrity fragrance. Also, it's missing that "aquatic" note (in a good way!) that plagues so many generic aquatic fragrances, so that's wonderful. Overall, quite satisfied with this purchase.

My fiancé got this as a joke-type thing, but it actually turned out great. This is def not what I was imagining for a Trump smell, and it's much better than what we had expected. Both he and I love it! It smells fresh, clean, and light. It's not intrusive or loud, as some colognes can be, and it feels understated, yet solid. I def get the Bond No. 9 and D&G Light Blue references everyone has mentioned. It is very close to Bond No. 9, and it shares the same light, fresh smell of D&G LB, but with less musk. This scent lasts for quite a long time on my guy (6-8 hrs), and the sillage sits pretty close to him. You'd smell it if you were talking face to face, but it's not a loud smell that would dominate your convo. It holds a quiet confidence type of energy. Sometimes, my brain doesn't even register it until after he leaves and I realize that the pleasant scent is gone. However, I've noticed the real magic of it happens when he walks by. I'll catch a hint of something so fresh and happy, it makes me want to follow him to keep smelling it. This cologne has also gotten quite a few compliments from others, and it acts like an interesting icebreaker when he tells him it's Success by Trump. Oddly enough, it also gets the most comments from me too, bc it hardly ever smells the same to me and I'm always asking him what he's wearing. Overall, I would def recommend any guy getting this. It smells amazing and feels much more expensive than it actually is. It's inoffensive enough for everyday wear, but still attractive enough for dates.

It's clean...yes, it's fresh, yes...but, sadly, I just didn't enjoy wearing it very much - all politics aside. Looking at the notes pyramid, I do sense birch, juniper, vetiver, etc., but what really pushes forward, to me, are prominent bamboo and aquatics accords (like an aquatic-cucumber) along with some herbal tones. It's not a bad fragrance - just not for me. Performance was also a bit disappointing in that it lasted 4-5 hours on my skin, projected within an arms-length for around 30-minutes, and sat quite softly on my skin. I've worn this a handful of time and have never received a compliment. You'll smell fresh & clean, but this scent won't get you noticed. On a positive note, Trump Success was quite affordable and may be worth a try if you're into these kind of scents. Offhand, I would take Mont Blanc Starwalker over this one when I'm wanting a fragrance with a bamboo note. Finally, while I don't really care for this fragrance, I must say that I really, really like Trump Empire. Peace.!

From what I remember, very masculine, kind of heavy/synthetic sometimes, spicy. Drydown was nice in some spots—especially dried on clothing and smelled amazing lingering on clean laundry. Musky, strong birch, dark, synthetic after a few hours but would go from that synthetic darkness to a much nicer smell when combined with sweat. I can see how some people would not like what this dried down into on skin. Was my ideal gym scent and the only fragrance that has ever garnered enough attention to have people ask what it was mid-workout since it was unique. Possibly it just worked well with my skin chemistry. Clearly it had good sillage since they could smell just one spray on the chest from range. Ran out and now it's too expensive to consider. Good enough to go through a whole bottle using only one or two sprays a day. Patrick Bateman would wear this.

This is my second fragrance from the Trump line. It's a very nice scent, no doubt a good portion of the dislike votes here are from angry liberals that hate Trump. I'm neither a fan or a hater, so my review is based on the fragrance, and not the man. Isn't that how we rate scents on how it smells? Anyway, Success Trump reminds me of just that - Success. It's fresh, clean and although not totally unique, it's different enough to enjoy without reminding me of my other fragrances. I don't like owning 2 fragrances that smell too much alike. I wear this on my 5 or so business trips into NYC in the summer and early fall. I don't get any leather, but I do get a very nice fresh spicy vibe kind of like a mix between Azzaro Chrome and Versace PH. 8/10

i smell juniper mostly, then coriander and ginger. not bad i suppose. it is going to be a GAG gift for the hubster, HAPPY HANUKKAH! LOL he doesn't wear cologne so i chose the trump scent i felt i would enjoy the most. i didn't spray it on myself just a piece of clothing to test it, he's not going to care that it is opened. i can still smell it the next day. and the sillage is about 6 ft at first then a bit later, arms length. i really love the smell of juniper trees. while hiking i have been known to take the berries, squish them, and smell the smells so i'm glad the juniper is detectable in this.

I remember smelling this next to a beloved discontinued fragrance (ysl libre) which is one of my favorite fragrances and had to think a while to determine which I liked better that the time. I also never really smelled anything like it, it has similarities to D&G le batchellor 01 or Luis Vuitton summer fragrance. I really enjoy it.. D&G light blue mens vibe. Very good to me but the quality is no better than the other fragrances just mentioned..

Success is a very nice, attractive men's fragrance. I really like it. It smells great on my husband. It's the second one he has of Trump's, (he also has Empire) and they're both really excellent. This is a lovely juniper and redcurrant, with beautiful vetiver and is very easy to wear. Gets lots of compliments too. Very good sillage and longevity. It lasts all day after only a couple of sprays in the morning before work. It's lovely.

I have a fragrance collection of about 170 fragrances or so. On two occasions I've had a friend over who's interested and have gone round the collection getting them to sniff maybe 20 or 30 of the best. Both times, I've got to this one and they've said 'THAT'S THE BEST ONE'. And then they've found it really funny when they found out what it was. Obviously they're not Trump fans. It's a goodun people.

This is a great fragrance as I've said before. If you have smelled Kenzo pour homme,the best way I can describe this is: if Kenzo pour homme is very light blue, this is a darker light blue. It smells like a darker version of Kenzo pour Homme. It's fresh, woody, very slightly aquatic, metallic, with prominent birch and juniper. Refined, subtle, tasteful, businesslike. The epitome of a work fragrance.

Success is a success with me! It's fresh, clean and I really like the Birch and Juniper notes. I think this is a great scent for mornings and early afternoons during Spring and Summer. Longevity on me is about about 18 holes (walking) and by the 19th it's a strong skin scent that goes great with a couple of Gin and Tonics. I like Success and feel it is well worth checking out.

This is another great example of why you should never dismiss a "celebrity" fragrance out of hand. This has a lot of similarities to Nautica Discovery. Good to know if you are ever asked, for the same reason you would pretend to not mind paying excessive coin for and choking down a vegan meal on a date.

This is good dupe for Bond No 9 Wall Street. Refreshing, classy, safe for the office.

I just had to write a review on this fragrance.. I got this for my brothers birthday being that he likes fresh fragrances and he is a fan of the old Donald Trump show "The Apprentice".. Well occasionally I would pick his bottle up and give it a sniff from the cap and it smelled great.. Now I do not quite understand why this scent is getting so many negative reviews.. I guess it is because there are so many people out there that do not like Trump.. I really feel that they should be judging Success on it's own merits instead of being biased towards this fragrance just because they do not like Trump.. Success opens up with a fresh citrusy blast which comes from the red currant, but it fades away fast while the juniper stays around a bit longer.. The ginger and bamboo leaves keep the scent simple and fresh but add an interesting touch.. The birch stands out the most to me and dominates the fragrance, while the bamboo, juniper, and other notes blend to make a fresh modern metallic scent that smells unique and great.. There is some clean musk, a hint of vetiver, and tonka in the drydown.. I am not sure how the fragrance performs but from the tiny squirt I sprayed on my wrist it seems to do well.. This scent is unique and interesting.. It does not smell like all the other fresh men's fragrances on the shelf.. It is different and I can see it being a love or hate type of scent but people need to judge the fragrance not the name.. If Success was not a Trump fragrance it would have sold better and there would be much better reviews.. The bottle is simple but very nice, give it a sniff!

In all seriousness, politics aside, this is a very decent fragrance. I was at a perfumania, and the lady behind the counter sprayed this without showing me what it was. The opening was an amazing fresh, aromatic blast, heavy on juniper. I really liked it! I sprayed it on my hand, and in the drydown it got nice and woody, heavy on birch, which is one of my favorite notes, and it has a nice, light, aromatic background (I'm assuming from the ginger, bamboo, and germanium). On my skin I got good projection for about an hour before it dies down close to the skin. Overall I can smell it for 3-4 hours, though it could also be my nose adjusting to the liner birch drydown. Scent: 7/10 Longevity: 6/10 Development: 7/10 Drydown: 6.5/10 Sillage: 8/10 to 4/10(drydown) Price: 8/10 Overall: 7/10 Good for daytime in the spring and summer, possibly fall. Ages 18+. A unique smelling fresh that stands out from the aqua and citrus that dominates the summer market. Put politics aside and smell!

When i first entered fragrantica to see the reviews of this perfume i was shocked with the fact that dislike bar is longer than the like and love ones. after reading reviews i realised that the character "trump" had implicit and explicit effect on the reviews. since i have no idea who is trump, my review will be based on the perfume only .... i feel that the smell has some resemblance to D&G light blue! it has that zesty fresh feeling with light cloying smell that i honestly dont know where it comes from. i think the like and love bars should exceed the dislike one.

I have this and it's nice and fresh, but I prefer Empire by Trump, which is not in the database presently. Empire is more of a sexy scent. I'm a female BTW, and use several fragrances for men. What's with all the comments about the bottle? I find it attractive. Someone said they can't get their tiny hands around it to spray the scent. You know what they say about small hands.. 9/17/16 edit, recently noticed that Empire is in the database now.

Come on people! Please review this fragrance for it's scent and not it's name! If this fragrance was made by Creed or some other house everyone would be raving about it! It really is a nice pleasant scent, and you can't beat the price.. Much better than any of the celebrity fragrances out there for men.. Very fresh, clean, with a interesting metallic vibe..

Well, this fragrance is stunning from to top to bottom. Professionally executed packaging and scent. Uplifting, energizing, positive and superbly performing. Exceptionally well blended. Among the best fresh fragrances out there. Unfortunately taken off the shelves at Trump Tower and Trump Online along with Empire but still widely available online.

This opens with a cucumber-y vibe and a pond water stench at first, that faded after a few minutes. It then turns into a juniper and ginger scent that last for 4 hours until completely disappearing. It is a clean, spring and summer scent. Suitable for daily, office wear. I could also see this working at a barbecue.

Very surprised by this. Very nice, clean scent at a cheap price. I don't do celebrity fragrances but this could stand on its own. I only get about 4 hours out of this so you will need to re-apply after lunch. It is obvious that some are reviewing the name and not the scent.

I would say this is a soft safe scent that is good for a suit and tie and the office. It's light and slightly powdery. Not a projection monster at all but very subtle. I give this a 7.9/10

Had high hopes about success but trump failed at it. Smells fresh, yes but doesnt last long. Come on trump, for that kinda money you can make my success last for a while on me :)

I think most people are biased agianst this. Before this was discontinued It was dirt cheap and smelled pleasant. The only thing I could really compare this to is nuatica voyage.

Average summer freshie. Smells a bit aquatic, it is piercing, and a bit bitter. Overall generic and mass-appealing, nothing special but not bad either. 6.5/10

All politics aside this is a okay decent cheapie. There is nothing special about this fragrance. Longevity you’re looking at around three to four hours max. As far as projection I would say it’s more on the lines of a skin scent. The smell is not bad at all it’s just very basic and generic, more of like a fresh aquatic scent. It’s not overpowering at all and I would say the best time and place to wear this would be as a night time/bed time fragrance right after the shower or a casual office fragrance. Overall score 5 out of 10. Would I buy it again - Yes. Would I recommend it - Not really.

A generic blue freshie that smells of nondescript citrus, warm printer paper, and industrial chemicals. I feel like I'm at the printers/office supply store.

I got this frag 50% off when I purchased Prada Amber at a outlet and all I can say is I'm very disappointed in both. Trump success comes across as a old frag called iron from the 80's it almost reminds me of a very strong soapy/dandruff shampoo at 1st but within an hour it turned to something very offensive... no pun intended. I'm smelling a metallic scent mixed with a humid summer day it made me feel a bit musty like I hadn't had a shower and I shower twice a day! I can't explain although I find it marked down to about 15$ everywhere I go so u figure it out. I don't hate trump at all I find him as a very funny guy. No hate here but I cant deny a bad fragrance.

This one was ok... It smells very clean and fresh at first... Soapy... But then - when it dries down a bit like someone said before. It gets a very putrid metallic smell like if you went in a birch tree forest after it rained and smelled old wet moss and rotten birch trees. It is not pleasent at all so I gave it to my dad. Sad since it wasn't the cheapest frag.

Finally got around to trying this and now putting my thoughts out there. Up there with some of the best, in my book. Coriander tends to be a note I don’t get along with but it actually suits the scent’s opening and is agreeable. Kinda has a vague resemblance to light blue, similar vibe but not an exact copy or a dupe. The scent doesn’t smell cheap despite being pretty reasonably priced on discount sites, punches above its weight. Rarely is that the case in my experience. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to last very long on my skin. My final verdict however is that this is a well crafted, compliment getting cologne that is worth a buy. Peace.

I promise my opinion is not biased because of the name, but I will say on me, this smells like wet dog. It smells like a kid who sprayed cologne on himself after a high school gym session but didn’t bother to shower or change shirts.

This is about as successful as the rating implies. Smells cheap and synthetic, which ironically matches his clothing line made in china. Its got no depth and kinda smells a teeny bit like paint thinner and red berries.

My wife first got me this as a gag gift in 2016, but I've bought (2nd hand; I do not want to contribute to Trump) a couple bottles since then because I ended up liking it. Red currant jelly is kind of a generic sweet taste that you can't quite place if it's on your toast and you're not told what it is. So it's not surprising that Trump's Success cologne with red currant as its major note is a kind of generic fresh smell. The reason why so many reviews say it smells like something else they know says a lot - Light Blue, Kenzo PH, Azzaro Chrome, Nautica Discovery, Bond No. 9 Wall Street, etc... is because Trump Success does a little of what they do "okay" but does not have what makes those unique. If you like any of those, I'd recommend you just buy those and not this. . It's a light fresh-y, a little aquatic, kind of synthetic, inoffensive office appropriate scent with below average performance. Like I said, I get the red currant and a synthetic fresh up front. As it dries down I get the juniper, bamboo, and tonka bean mix up with the red currant. The reason it's a "safe" scent is in large part because it smells like a generic version of so many other "blue" colognes from the 90s-00s and is an average to below average performer. After an hour people need to get very close to you to smell it. With all that said, I quite like it, despite hating Trump. I actually like the bottle presentation which brings to mind for me a New York "tower." The price of it online varies widely. DO NOT OVERPAY for this generic cologne! I buy it 2nd hand off of ebay to ensure that I am not sending money directly to any of Trump's businesses. 100 ml tester bottles can be had for ~20ish on ebay. New in box 30 ml seem to go for 10-13ish, 50ml for 20, 100 ml for 40-50. Beware prices more than that.

I just got this and sprayed on a test card. This is listed as an Aromatic Fougere. It is not. No lavender, no oak moss, etc. Its not bad. Fruity/lemony up top, must be mostly the red currant. Fresh and light. Fresh but not a true ozonic-aquatic kind of "freshy". Not bad on card test but I'm more impressed with David Beckham's cheapie Instinct, with its citrusy vetiver up front and seemingly inspired by Guerlain Vetiver and Terre d'Hermes (so like a much weaker Terre d'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver). "Orange cologne bad" is a ridiculous way to approach this. Update: actually wearing this now. Not good. Something putrid. I'm now thinking.... is it possible the perfumer sabotaged this? Lol. Someone posted that this reminds them of Secretions Magnifique. Now, I've never had the displeasure of smelling that, but I read some of the review comments and someone mentioned the smell of wet bamboo. This Success has bamboo. Really putrid.

I'm sorry to make this comparison, but there's a huge, putrid metallic note in Success that brings to mind one fragrance: Secretions Magnifiques. Yes, I don't know why, but whoever designed this fragrance managed to take a boring coriander/pineapple fougere and slap the salty/repugnant metallic note from Secretions Magnifiques right on top. I'm dead serious. I went to Macy's and tried this stuff on, thought it smelled like Secretions, figured it wouldn't last very long, but it ended up lasting all afternoon and into the night. I went to the gym and as I was sweating, the metallic note just got stronger and stronger. Maybe my nose is weird and nobody else will smell what I'm smelling. But I was definitely reminded of Secretions Magnifiques.

I also believe in separating politics from a fragrance review - especially since anybody who thinks Trump spent any time on the development of this fragrance hasn't listened to anybody who's left the White House. No, this fragrance was commissioned. In fact, it's most likely that Trump himself has never worn or possibly even smelled this - but I digress... On it's own it's a decent clean/soapy freshie, but nothing very unique. I was hoping for much, much more birchwood than I get out of this. Empire is more impressive, this one could have really stood out with a big punch of birch but instead struck me as pretty basic and generic - decent but I don't think I'm going to keep it. But it's still far more impressive than... you know... :(

My theory is that The Donald is a fan of Aventus by Creed, and decided to make a rip-off scent with the same name (this time in English). What baffles me is that Donald Trump isn't new at being filthy rich - he's been wealthy his whole life, and knows all the finer things to be had in his price bracket. So why would he slap his name on something so blatantly crumby? The bottle is hideous, the color of the juice inside is uninviting and drab, and smells of concentrated citrus and juniper berries. Not terrible, but not exactly "successful," either. I guess if Trump's idea of success is high school guys snagging cheerleader phone numbers, this stuff lives up to its name. For me, it's rather disappointing.

I am proud of myself today. Some doubts existed before about my ability to judge a fragrance on its own merits without regard to name etc. All reservations about personal judgment are now a thing of the past. Trump Success brought me to this place of positive realisation. Out of a dozen cheaper designer offerings sampled at a local dept. store, this one stood out as being the best. Little surprise really when we consider Yann V was the nose behind this genuinely good mens fragrance. I would go so far as to say that if a Trump edp version was released, it might be the best piece of publicity our floppy hairy friend created ever.

Honestly, I think a lot of people overlooked this one because of the name, but truthfully it’s a really good fragrance. It reminds me a little of the vibe of Elysium—not saying it smells like Elysium, but it sits in that same fresh, uplifting lane. It’s definitely a lot lighter and less dense than Elysium though. It’s the kind of scent that works great right out of the shower. The longevity isn’t going to be amazing, but when this was going for around $30–$40, it was a really solid pickup. At the end of the day, I could care less whose name is on it. It’s a fragrance—if it smells good, it smells good.

Opinions of this scent's namesake entirely set aside, it legitimately does smell really bad. It's like a wet, musty citrus that reminds me of a dirty dog. The notes just do not seem like they're blending together properly. EDIT: After wearing for a bit, it reminds me of a cheap soap or deodorant and the smell that would project off of it after you've worn it for the better part of a hot, sweaty day. That's not to say it smells sweaty, just that it smells like used, heated up Degree gel deodorant. Viscerally unpleasant.

I have this. Nothing to do with politics , this is an honest review. I like this scent but I don't reach for ot often. It has a nice mettalic clean and almost cold crisp feel to it. It has a citron like note that dominates . Longevity is average. If you like Azzaro Chrome or especially Chrome Sport youll like this. Its similar to Chrome sport minus the aquatic 'calone' note.

Opens up fresh, a bit like Irish soap. The mid on my skin smells like a bamboo forest after it rained but changes more aquatic, reminds me of a fish aquarium which isn't pleasant. On the dry down so far I don't get vetiver, tonka bean, or musk but I do get birch. Longevity and sillage I'm not sure since I just got it and haven't tested it much but I'll update.

Just a really bright grapefruit and super clean vetiver with slightly sweet mellowy finish. It's nice, and anybody can wear this for any situation. It may not hit everyone's sweet spot with a name like Donald Trump or definitely not worth a full retail price, but it's worth checking it out while shopping at a mall.

I own all three of the fragrances that Donald Trump has put out. This was the first I tried and it does smell good. It smells fresh which is nice, but not one I would recommend. Its kind of generic overall and is my least favorite of Trump's fragrances. It is very similar to Bond No 9 Wall Street.

I disagree that this fragrance smells so bad, it actually smells really fresh, changes as the different structures come along and in fact long lasting, very nice indeed, I like it but I have not got any axe to grind with Mr Trump or jealous of him

Trump line is much more attractive than he is. That's for sure. This one is quite fresh with a slight bite. Its dressy, but not too dressy that you couldn't kick it casually. More like a button up with jeans type for daytime.

i was given samples of this stuff and it remind mind of twilight woods by bath and body works. does anybody else get that similarity?

I just got this on clearance for my son. It is a soapy, fresh, clean scent. It's ok. I prefer classics like old spice, brut, etc.

Beautiful scent! Great longevity and silage. Success smells like water.

The dislike bar here resembles the length of Trump's ties.
