District of Nolo

Oh my... this perfume is a masterclass in how to make pear smell expensive and modern, and how to lift iris out of its boring comfort zone. Grabbed a bottle as soon as I tried it in duty free in Rome. But I loooove pear and iris notes in perfume and every th of what smells like a lipstick.Most pear-based releases of recent years rarely move beyond comments like “nice shampoo,” “bubbly drink,” “pleasant.” Trussardi’s Streets of Nolo achieved a synergy between pear and iris, where each elevates the other into a space of sexy elegance. It opens with a crystalline, sonorous note of pear, almost sparkling like an unsweetened Bellini, a light citrusy pear that feels luminous. Gradually it melts into a cushion of humid purple iris petals, without dust or powder.The dry-down develops into a full-bodied buttery lipstick of a contemporary texture, perhaps reminiscent of Jovoy’s Red Assassin. For comparison, @ no point District of Nolo has any similarities with Lipstick Rose or Drole de Roses, neither Chanel 5, it is a completely modern trendy lipstick of its own, (FBW for iris lovers btw)Both Jovoy’s creations Rouge Assasin is drier, and Touche Finale is inkier, whereas District of Nolo is a “ humid” scent. The scent is fresh and breathing, letting your skin breathe. It is a very elegant scent, modern and quietly luxurious: the kind of beauty that could make even the most seasoned “quite luxury” lovers shed a tear of joy. Perfect for colder weather

Great iris scent: it’s airy and somewhat earthy. It’s on the fresher side of spectrum: some aldehydes, soft musks and slightly waxy notes. Nice and light! Very classy!

I really wanted to like this, so much I almost blind bought it (based on the notes and the bottle). I ended up getting a small decant and I am not sure I will use it up. This is straight up make up powder with a bit of rose that takes it to “old granny’s house” smell, as my girlfriend described it. Silage is mild to moderate, longevity is good. I won’t be getting a full bottle even if the price drops. I just didn’t like how I smelled wearing it. It is too pretty (I don’t mind wearing more feminine scents) and too retro. Moving on...
