L'Uomo

This is my first review here and this parfume is the reason why I joined. So... first the story. Year is 1996, end of my teen years (21). Just received my first bonus on salary and hopped over border to Italy to buy me something. Entering profumeria in city of Trieste was somewhat overwhelming but one cute seller girl was more than helpful and among 2 EDP, 2 EDT she picked for me Trussardi L'uomo after shave. I'm 50+ now. I still remember that event vividly and I give credit only to Trussardi L'uomo. Underappreciated scent. After I spent 3 bottles somehow life got me and I never bought it again. Time passes...30 years and 4 kids later in abundance of parfumes I have on shelves I couldn't find exactly one that was perfect for my wedding anniversary. I told my wife about it. She told me to scrub thru internet and find it anywhere and she will pay for it. Found on amazon in US, bought it (pump was not working I guess dye to age so I transferred it to new bottle). Bought again literally last bottle on my local amazon store also. And all could be irrelevant that my youngest one that's 5yr old said to me couple a days ago "dad I really like that smell, can you spray it on me?" He got it on t-shirt. So what can I say about it? It's Italian fragnance for man. I'm wearing it regardless of time of the day or season. I love it for several reasons, and in these days one of most important is -it's unique. Noone is even trying to copy it. All parfume experts I visited said they don't have all ingredients to even make dupe. Some even said that required oil contain alergen so they are not available (really dunno anything about that and don't care about allergens). Tomato leaf and lavander is punch in the face that goes away in literally minutes and all that is left is playful combination of citrusy vanilla with tobacco with hints of tangerine bergamot, cedar and sandalwood. Literally Italy in the bottle that will last 3-4 hours with mid sillage. Not more than one meter. I wish they will one day restart production

I use to have the bottle shown, I wasn't sure why but it had weird bitter tangy scent so I believe that it was spoiled. I couldn't believe my eye's when I seen another L'Uomo in a round metal bottle. When I sprayed it on my skin I knew that I had really lucked out having a second chance on owning this frag. This bottle, a similar aroma of citrus/green/herbal aroma from bergamot and orange. It also has a tangy aroma from the tomatoe leaf. After it settled down you pick up the woodsy notes of sandalwood supported by benzion and amber making it absolutely well balanced perfect during the summer months. Longevity and Silage is better than moderate lasting 6-8hrs Finally thoughts, I'm glad I bought this fragrance and I definitely would use it this summer coming. I realize that the tangy aroma was from the tomato leaf which is acidic...very close. All aside, It's too bad that it was discontinued because I'm sure if it was relaunched it would do well. 7/10...

Wearing this again today because I realized that I really love this in the early Spring and I’m upgrading it from a Like to a Love after owning if for 1 year. This blend smells unique to my nose and I believe this vintage bottle (triangular like the picture) would be considered “niche quality” and could sell today if an Indy or Niche house were making it. Guitar2016 and alphairone already wrote fine reviews, so I’ll simply say that I really enjoy the overall scent, the lemon and tomato leaf notes are unusually good, and the incense and other base notes make it feel complex and deep and make it more interesting than just another “warm sunny day” citrus freshie. Also I agree with the voters who find it quite Masculine, not sure why but it’s probably the tobacco

My absolute favorite for cold evenings, fall and winter. Simply the best tobacco leaf I've come across. Note - this is tobacco leaf, not pipe tobacco. Which means this is green, leafy, bitter, etc. And this is why it works so well here with the bitterness of the tomato leaf. They intertwine beautifully. This is flat out niche, and I don't understand why fragrances like this aren't being produced anymore. Such artistry at work here. The attention to detail here is incredible, absolutely expertly blended. Green, bitter, warm, invigorating. Starts off a bit sweet, but once the notes settle and blend together, the outcome is nothing more than pure class. Discontinued now sadly, just like many of the greats.

Excellent fragrance for Men and very likeable. Elegant, Classy and Unique. Amazing scent from the opening to the dry down. This fragrance is fresh spicy woody. The beauty of this perfume is how it develops on your skin, it smells lovely fresh green like a green garden in the spring. It opens up with like fresh sweet citrusy , green notes and tomato leaf in the background then it changes like fresh spicy and dry down is semi sweet amber woody. Too bad this is discontinued ! The bottle looks stunning. It is perfect for the spring, summer and fall. I really enjoy it and I love L'Uomo Trussardi EDT for Men. Highly recommended. Two Thumbs Up. Rating : 8.5 / 10

I have to agree with others that this is a great scent. This is my number one cigar smoking cologne. I'm still trying to replace this with something cheaper, as this is now 100 per bottle. But ya, the tomato leaf, the tobacco and lavender sit on top of what is basically Zino, a scent from a famous cigar maker (one of my favorites). Great, unique scent that smells like the Italian man (Vito Corleone?) tending to his tomatoes while smoking a cigar. What a shame that it's no longer made. Trussardi, bring this back!

One of the greatest men's fragrances IMO which inexplicably/sadly is discontinued. Luckily I've got 2 full 100ml bottles stashed away in my collection in addition to the half-full bottle I'm currently using. I use this one exclusively for special occasions as it is so unique smelling, is tremendously potent, and is now also rare...the perfect combination! :)) I'm always impressed with Trussardi's scents and also love Python Uomo very much, which is another a stalwart in my collection.

I find it as testers of 2ml and I have a lot of them, I'm so happy to have this classical fragrance, one of the best ever made! Is there any chance Trussardi Company to continue making it and how are the things with the marketing of this product. And could anybody answer - why did they stop this fragrance.It does not smell like any other scent by now, so if there is somebody from Bulgaria who sells it, please send me a massage!

This was my perfume when I was 19-21. How I loved it. Now only a faint memory. I wish I could have it again. For some reason I used to keep it inside the plastic box. I vaguely remember something metalic and clean and citrusy. It was great.

Who remembers Brylcreem ? The hair cream from the 60's. This is Brylcreem, the fragrance. Beautiful/ uplifting/ sunny...a little bit retro smelling... Italy in a bottle !!!

Thank goodness I only blind-bought a mini bottle. It's just not for me; too much of a "creamy" note to it (tomato leaf?). I see it has a good rating, so some will like it very much.

I couldn't wait to get this one on the skin... spray, spray, spray... Hmmmm. I've smelled this before. Where?.......... thinking...thinking...thinking... A HA! I know this smell. I've got it dead to rights. What is it? It's original Polo minus the pine. It's pine free Polo. I couldn't more accurately describe than by saying that. If you loved original Polo and wanted a hint of lemon in place of the pine, you found it. As someone who never really liked Polo I'm fighting hard to say I don't like this one. I will say it smells manly and classic...like Polo. :) A quality solid scent that isn't exactly up my alley. Well, only about 3.4 more ounces of unhappiness left. :)

Sharp orange-y opening, that drydowns into a metallic lavender and green thing (tomato leaf) supported by a strong dusty/powdery sweet benzoin. I agree with a previous reviewer, that it's like putting the nose on a bloody mary, in an oxidized copper chalice. This is what I would expect CdG Copper to smell like, but I am a bit perplexed by all the raving reviews on that one. Unique for sure, but it doesn't work for me.

This would be the fragrant equivalent to a bitter aperitif: accessible to European, particularly Mediterranean sensibilities, but potentially confusing and hard to warm up to for American tastes. Thankfully for me, I love a good Negroni now and then with extra Campari, can appreciate tannins in wine and green tea, not to mention the flavors of watercress and bitter melon. So, needless to say, the very dry bitter tobacco leaf and sharp green tomato leaf are really a pleasure to my nose. Actually, they are breathtakingly beautiful and very natural smelling. It starts with these two immediately greeting you along with tangerine and herbs, acrid and very true to life. In time, it simmers down to the more aromatic and sweeter qualities of all the corresponding notes, as the more round notes of geranium and rose unravel into the scene. This is where I really become enamored. There somehow is this sensation of wet stones, and an almost metallic effect, which others have mentioned in almost a disparaging manner, but which I on the contrary find very appealing. It really smells intriguing, which cannot be said for most fragrances, if we choose not to use intrigue as hyperbole. Wow. Several inches from the skin is more tobacco, tomato leaf, and rose, and closer in with the nose and it is really coldly alluring... The dry down is yet another turn in development, as L'Uomo evolves into a rather sweet, balsamic, vanillic base. It's worth noting that it seems that many fragrances with prominent green notes often resolve into a sweeter fond with green whispers (see my review for Joop! What About Adam). Here, it is particularly appeal to smell the top and mid notes on fabric with the base on the skin. There's some magic that happens. I'd say try before you buy, but A) I blind bought this, so I am a bit of hypocrite and B) It's discontinued, so it may be tough to try ahead of time. All in all, I'm glad I took the risk, because L'Uomo suits me quite nicely.

My guess is that this was a different idea about breaking away from the heavy "power fragrances" of the 1980s (Cool Water being the most successful). As with many of those 80s fragrances, this one has quite a few notes that are well-balanced and offer good contrast. However, it is considerably lighter and brighter (I'm only discussing the drydown here). There is good note separation and enough dynamism to prevent boredom from setting in. It's easy to control the strength of it, unlike so many of today's party type fragrances, and it smells natural. This is a good fragrance for many types of occasions too, though not for the youth scene, just spray accordingly. On some level, this is a "rustic" fragrance, but it's not crude. The tobacco note is mild but present. It's dry but a little sweet. Think of Burberry's London for Men but smoother and with the port wine note swapped out for tomato leaf and you'll be close to understanding this one. Several hours in, and I can say that I prefer the sandalwood and vanilla here to the tonka bean and wood notes in Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme, for example

have to say that this one is too hot for tropical weather. amber and vanilla group note (and tonka bean according to fragrantica here... that makes this a vanilla bomb ) is just too much for me to bear. But it does perform better indoor with good aircon. update january 8th, 2013: I pull this one once in a while despite the hot trio: vanilla-benzoin-amber (After all this is a quality perfume and many has praise this on their reviews.) I must say it so much better in cooler rainy weather here in tropical inland (that makes about 24-26 degree Celsius and high humidity).

I guess it's all about whether you take to the tomato leaf note or not with this one. Initially I thought this was lovely, the tangerine in the immediate opening gives it a light, sweet and enticing aroma. Then the tomato kicks in and it's like drinking a Bloody Mary out of a copper chalice. Not for me I'm afraid!

I enjoyed the smell greatly testing on blotter at the nearest perfume shops... Would like to present my man with the one on the occasion of his birthday in January... I am sure he is going to enjoy the aroma too,,,

That lemon scent and slightly smoky scent that doesn't match at all and never goes away. I tried to figure it out for 2 days... Don't buy without trying without being sure.

interesting fragrance, longlasting and definitely not a light one :D i have it, i like it and a i don t give it to anyone :D
