Passion Fruit Mojito

Tubbees (Grandeur) is unabashedly light-hearted in its conception, being another fragrance line marketed as candy, dessert, ...or more specifically in this case, ice cream flavours. The bottles even come packaged in pint-sized ice cream tubs, hence the name. However, despite any seeming puerility, at least some of Tubbees scents do aim at replicating fairly complex flavours. For instance, this Passion Fruit Mojito is not only sweet and juicy passionfruit. It also bears a quite noticeable fresh-aromatic note of mojito, which of course can be further split into notes of mint and white rum, ...so more like a boozy tropical fruit milkshake, rather than just ice cream. The mojito side does make for a more coolly refreshing scent in hot weather, and one also more distinctly adult. Furthermore, in the drydown there is also a distinctly woody note reminiscent of a wine-soaked oak barrel. Nobody else is talking about that, ...and it's doubtful the core demographic want anything that might distract from Tubbees ice cream fantasy. But I for one am glad for the extra complexity found here, unexpected though it may be. I should add that Tubbees does list notes on the tub, like ersatz Nutrition Facts, ..but their notes are mostly only vaguely justified fruits and florals, though black currant is revealing. They also list musk and sandalwood, which somewhat like the woody base I describe, ...but no mention is made of mint, rum, or the titular mojito. I protest. In any case, make no mistake. Overall, this remains a fairly light and fruity passionfruit fragrance, ...but if one were to layer this, perhaps with a leathery oud, for example, something vaguely akin to Azzure Oud, Oud Maracuja, Exotic Oud, etc. could be created. Edit: The next morning. this woody and fresh-aromatic passionfruit was still detectable on my arm. It smelled much more elegantly complex than mere ice cream, ...so I decide to make it my wear for the day. It was a brilliant decision, ...though after awhile, I did fast-layer it with Solinotes Grenadine/Pomegranate (so grenadilla plus grenadine). Basically, I smelled like a very sophisticated glass of Hawaiian Punch.

Personally, I really like this one. It gives me the vibe of a fruitier, more uplifting and easier‐to‐wear version of Oud Maracuja, just without the oud and leather plus the hefty pricetag. You can buy 10 of this for the price of one Oud maracuja. It’s smoother, brighter and more approachable. I actually prefer it slightly over its sibling, Sweet Mango Melody, which leans more toward a synthetic mango accord. The listed notes don’t feel completely accurate to my nose. The drydown definitely shifts into something more masculine and woody, thanks to the sandalwood and musk. Projection and longevity are pretty average, making it an easy, unchallenging wear. Overall, it sits comfortably as a unisex, office-safe fragrance that still keeps a fun fruity edge without becoming too loud or too sweet.
