Unwind

Received an 8ml decant of this in one of my subscription box orders. This is a cousin of Santal 33 to my nose. I don't have a sample of Santal 33 to compare it to, but from what I remember it smelling like, the general DNA is here. Smells like a more masculine version of it. I wish I knew what oud alone smells like because I believe this is my first time smelling it in a fragrance, but it seems to be pronounced here alongside the sandalwood. I heard oud can be an offensive note, and in no way is it offensive here. This fragrance is definitely different from all the blue fragrances and fougeres I like, and I think it'll suit me well for evening outings in the coming winter months.

TUMI gets a lot of hate. I think the most common gripe is that there are better options for the price. I have never smelled Santal 33, so I cannot say as to how similar this smells, but I got a 30ml bottle at Burlington today for $30 and I'm quite impressed. While I'm not super keen on the opening spiciness of the ginger, the middle and drydown are just phenomenal. Again, never having smelled Santal before, this is new and different to me. Definitely putting into rotation. Plus, the twist-lock of the bottle and cap is a pretty cool novelty.

This is really strong gentleman almost CEO type of cologne. It smells almost chocolatey which I can imagine is from the sandalwood and agarwood or sandalwood and ginger maybe but the sandalwood is very smooth the agarwood is Eastern which is mass appealing and not like Indian oud. It is slightly smoky but I believe the lemon brings it down and the other notes blend well together to give it its signature scent it is very upscale smelling almost smells like you're walking in a Gucci store or some super super upscale designer shop.

Not bad if I must say. It has good longevity on my skin. It's been 8 hours ago I sprayed 1 spray on each wrist and I can still smell it. Yeah I have to get close to smell it but alot of other fragrances would be completely worn off by now but not Tumi Unwind. I got decent sillage for a couple hours. I really like what this company did so far. They have made 2 fragrances and one is meant for daytime and this one is for the evening. It is a great idea and I wouldnt be surprised if other companies copy from this idea.

I picked this up at Burlington, today, 11/18/23, for $29.99 for a 1oz. bottle. And let me say, in my honest opinion, it's 10! It Immediately reminds me of Bravo Monsieur, by El Gonso. But when it stats to dry down, I get Creed Aventus! I won't give a long drawn out Review, but this is amazing! I'm assuming, it'll last 8hrs. I'll come back and add on to this Review! This is at Macy's for $70.00 for a 1oz. bottle. I bought 2! I'm set for a good while!...you can wear it anytime, anywhere!

Sophisticated, uplifting, and effortlessly refined. This fragrance reminds me of sitting on the balcony of an upscale oceanfront resort at sunset, watching the day slowly fade away. It's smooth, unique, sexy, and luxurious without trying too hard. The projection is outstanding, and the earthy notes with touches of oud give it depth and character. This is a scent for the well-traveled man who appreciates quality, culture, and quiet confidence.

I like it, never have tried Santal33, but after using Cremo Sandalwood and Suede, this is definitely a step up from Cremo. Ross had the 100ml bottle for $40, so I think thats a steal for this frag. Might not be the best one, but it definitely doesn't smell cheap or like ass like some people say. Longetivity is also fantastic, with around 8 to 10 hours of use during this season in Florida.

Smells very nice, kinda unique for a sandalwood fragrance. The ginger Oud vetiver and lemon come through well, not so much for the other notes. Unfortunately it’s very weak, I used about half of the 2ml carded sample and it’s still faint even in the opening. I’d 100% buy a bottle if it was stronger, probably get one if I can find a deal. Doesn’t smell like the other listed frags.

Got a sample from Birch Box, and it is relaxing. It makes me think of a clean wood cabin where they don't have internet so you can't possibly connect to the office. It's definitely grassy and woodsy, but still fresh - like rainwater on wood or like you're taking a shower in the forest. I really enjoyed it.

This is so good. Gives me Fahrenheit vibes with oud. Maybe Dior homme on the dry down. This is a complete sleeper. Cap heavy as f. Love the lock on the cap. Shit lasts forever and it evolves. I legit love this shit. Grown man scent 35+

Nice evening fragrance. Perfect for a date, cocktail party, or drinks with friends. The Oud is mass-appealing (not too strong).

If Parfums de Marley made Aventus. Pretty interesting. In my opinion this is a must try

This fragrance is nice fresh and clean. Inoffensive, safe for most formal occasions and work. You're not going to stand out with this, it's a very normal smelling fragrance. There is not a single drop of oud in this fragrance nor is there any hint of it detectable, nor is there even the illusion of oud. This is a fresh woody centric fragrance that smells a little bit like a nice men's soap. It has a hint of fougere in the background lending a shadow of floral and sweet but the average person on street would describe this as a dry woody fresh fragrance, which it is. If you can get this for less than 50 bucks it's a decent frag, but I would pass for any more personally.

The best of Tumi's foray into the fragrance world by a mile. Just peeping the ratings here: dare I say Unwind is slightly underrated? Nice zesty opening settles down into a nice woody, aromatic cradle. While it may not be an ace performer, I was always expecting it to disappear quicker than it did. Sadly, my sample vial was dropped onto the bathroom floor, ending this frag's life far too soon :( Plus side: my bathroom smelled amazing for almost a week!

Unwind is a great masculine scent. Aromatic, spicy fresh, citrusy, vetiver, sandalwood heavy based fragrance with good longevity and moderate sillage. It's very high-quality, like other Tumi fragrances but nothing like never smelled before. Very underrated brand IMO.

After maturing for a few month's, Tumi Unwind honestly has similarities to The Tux. I get an Arnold Palmer iced tea type of vibe, and I can't see why this one is so divisive and hated on?

Ends up smelling like a near clone of Cremo Palo Santo. It's very high-quality, like other Tumi fragrances, but I simply can't recommend this over the far cheaper Palo Santo.

Strong beautiful powder note. Every other note is in the background. Stays fairly bright, yet has some depth and earthiness. Feels like a more serious/professional Le Male

This is a nice sandalwood scent, but brightened up and not as creamy as others. Solid release from the house and in that Santal 33 ish range.

Smells great, smells like a sauna

Today marks my review of the final TUMI sample I have: Unwind. Thus far, my experience with the brand has been less than spectacular. Continuum had a pleasant aroma but lacked longevity, while Awaken performed a little better but dried down to a metallic, screechy fragrance. I am going into this final fragrance fervently hoping that I have saved the best for last, and that Unwind will allow me to conclude this journey on a genuinely positive note. Let's get into it. Opening: The opening is a sophisticated blend of woodiness, fragrant spice, and crisp greenery. The primary notes I get are sandalwood, ginger, clary sage, and oud, with sandalwood and clary sage being the standout notes. The sandalwood is what initially registers upon the first spray, and it carries a distinct dry woodiness reminiscent of the type of sandalwood used in fragrances like Le Labo's Santal 33. While not an exact match, it is certainly in that family of scent profiles. Behind the sandalwood, almost in equal measure, is the clary sage. This note manifests as a markedly herbaceous and green accord, working beautifully with the sandalwood to create a clean and woody overarching theme. Next is the ginger and oud. The ginger gives the opening a bright and fresh effervescence, complete with its usual spicy undertones. Lastly, the oud adds another layer of woodiness in the background, but with a unique, dark earthiness and a hint of warm sweetness, almost bordering on a dried tobacco accord. Dry Down: The dry down continues to be dominated by woodiness, comforting spice, and subtle greenery. The primary notes I discern are sandalwood, vetiver, oud, and clary sage, with sandalwood and vetiver being the most prominent. The sandalwood still shines as the highlighted note in the dry down, maintaining the same dry, "Santal 33" type of woodiness; not much has changed in that regard. However, behind the sandalwood, the vetiver has emerged to provide more woodiness, but with its characteristic green, grassy, and slightly smoky undertone. This is followed by the oud and clary sage. The oud is more subtle in the dry down and still offers whispers of its dark earthiness from the opening, but lacks that warm sweetness from the opening. Lastly, the clary sage still hints at the herbaceous qualities it possessed in the opening. Performance: The initial projection is robust, reaching out around six feet. Sillage mirrors that potency with an easily noticeable scent trail. After about three to four hours, the projection had receded a bit to about three to four feet, and the sillage was lighter but still discernible. When I checked again around the seven-to eight-hour mark, the projection was under arm's length, and the scent trail was only faintly noticeable. The fragrance became a skin scent shortly thereafter. When to Wear: Similar to Santal 33, Unwind is a remarkably versatile fragrance that can be worn year-round, day or night, and for a wide range of occasions. Its adaptable nature allows it to be dressed down for casual wear or dressed up for a formal event. It would also work well for a date night, at the office, or even at the gym. Blind Buy: If you appreciate sandalwood-focused fragrances like Santal 33 and can also enjoy the characteristics of vetiver, Unwind is a safe blind buy for you. Final Verdict: Having now tried three different TUMI fragrances—Continuum, Awaken, and Unwind—I feel confident in saying that this house may not be for me. While Unwind possessed a decidedly better scent profile than Awaken, I still found it a bit off-putting due to the strong and slightly astringent vetiver note. The performance was a little better than Awaken as well, but still not sufficient to last for an entire workday. I will, unfortunately, be closing the book on this chapter with a sense of disappointment. If someone were to recommend another TUMI fragrance for me to try in the future, I might consider it, but for now, I feel I have gotten what I needed from the brand. Scent: 6/10 Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 6/10 Versatility: Excellent Mass Appeal: Average Gender: Masculine Value: Overpriced

This smells...good. There's something in the opening that smells coconut-y. It's fresh and sweet, but lasts 4 minutes. But this is also woody and mature. Unfortunately, like Tumi Kinetic, this is just another mid, herbal, and aromatic masculine fragrance that is unremarkable. The scent profile is also not appealing to me, it doesn't seem like something I would want to smell like. But unlike Tumi Kinetic, this is less of an elderly man scent, and more of a 40's to 50's man scent. I'm 18, so I can't really appreciate this. Like Tumi Kinetic, longevity is not all that great. It's also weirdly sharp-smelling in the drydown. Overall rating: 4.5/10. I wouldn't get this or recommend it.

Smells nothing like Santal 33. Very citrusy and spicy from the lemon and ginger, this is more Awaken than Unwind in feeling (no idea what Awaken smells like though). The middle and base notes get lost, with slight hints at drydown. Blind bought this and hoping this will grow on me. Better on the skin though than on clothes, not as harsh. Update: decanting must have muted some of the ginger and lemon top notes. It gets to the woody drydown faster and I now see the similar notes with Santal 33.

Unwind is a very pleasant, essentially generic, versatile, easy reach type of fragrance for men. Nice, smooth blend with light ginger, lavender and a woody accord. The scent didn't stand out for me, sorta ho-hum. For an easy reach, I'm much rather go with something like Chanel Bleu EdP, Montblanc Legend EdP or Explorer. These scents make more of a statement and smell of better quality. Unwind's performance was only average for me.

The smell of this is great wish it lasted somewhat longer but only last maybe a hour and turns to a skin scent after two hours or so it's completely gone for the price I don't think so ! Smell-5/10 Performance-3/10 Versatility-5/10 Overall Rating-4.5/10

Got this as a free sample. Smells like a cheaper version of santal 33, which I’m not fond of either. Leathery and fresh, just not for me.

Pleasant smelling ,but is very similar to Santal 33,and first cousins with dunhill century.save your money and purchase century

If you’re new to the frag world, then you might find this fragrance pleasing and refreshing. It’s a very run of the mill fragrance you’d find near the entrance of a Ross store. But if you’ve been hunting for better and better scents for a while, this fragrance will come across as mediocre, at best. It leans masculine, but could be used as feminine too. Sillage and longevity are average. There’s a strong off-putting note that I can’t quite put my nose on. I would not wear this for a date, or formal event; the only time I’d wear this is if I wanted to go to WholeFoods or something for groceries shopping, or if I was passing thru a dusty old town and had to stop at a Denny’s, and didnt have my other collection perfumes around. Like Tumi was like: ok let’s go get someone to make us a perfume. Avoid. There’s much better scents out there.

I didn't understand the popular complaint of certain sandalwood scents (Santal 33 most famously) smelling like pickles, until I tried TUMI's dupe of it. The gingery opening vanishes instantly, leaving behind the pickle note and a particularly dank, redolent oud that's just a little bit too filthy for me to like. This was one of their first attempts in the fragrance game, so I'm not writing the house off for good, but it's just not the right scent for me, and I can't see myself recommending it to a friend either. Last and least-- why is this one "Unwind"? There's nothing particularly soothing or relaxing about it.

Straight up synthetic pickle juice. As a kid, I had a scratch and sniff book that had a page with barrel of pickles to scratch & sniff. This is EXACTLY that scent. If you like pickles, you'll love this fragrance. Better hope the people you're around, love pickles too. Because it's so peculiar, I can't even say which seasons, day or night. Longevity and projection are decent though. So, there's that.

So after reading the reviews it seems that everyone gets something different. Some chocolate some powder some pickles. I have not smelled the Le Labo Santal 33 in ages so I can't compare but off the bat after finishing my sample I don't like this. I get lemon and ginger and a funky sort of drydown. If anything it has a body odor type of vibe which is not for me.

Smells like whiskey on my skin. This is the first fragrance I’ve worn that gives off oak notes, which when coupled with the boozy opening, isn’t something I want to smell like. 1/10.

nothing about this perfume makes me want to unwind. to me it smells like someone tried pickling a block of wood

Everyone seems to be getting something different with this fragrance so I’ll add my two cents. I don’t get why this gets so much hate, I actually really like this. It smells sporty and masculine but serious. It would be perfect for a young mature guy with a serious career or a mature guy clinging on to his youth and virility. Reminds me of a mass appealing designer fragrance from the early 2000’s. A deep woody DNA accentuated with a spicy, slightly earthy citrus. I DO NOT get the comparisons to Santal 33 AT ALL. Maybe... if you’re grasping at straws for a comparison. If anything it’s more similar in structure, not scent, to TF’s Oud Wood than S33. Imagine OW sans the animalic nuance and the vanilla replaced with a citrus lemon note and add a dash of spice. The ONLY similarity Unwind has with S33 to my nose is the slightly similar sandalwood note. Theres no powdery, pickle like accords or leather, just spicy, citrusy, earthy WOODS. The performance is pretty solid on my skin. I get about 7 to 9 hours longevity with about a foot of projection in the first 1-2 hours before it comes in closer to the skin but still maintaining a sexy masculine sillage as you move about. In a world where men’s perfumery is moving more and more into the unisex/feminine, overwhelmingly sickeningly sweet category, it’s nice to still have fragrances made that are still very much so decidedly masculine. I’d recommend it. Don’t put too much of your trust in these Fragrantica reviews, most of the most hyped fragrances are hyped because sheeple will like what they’re told to like by their favorite sponsored social media fragrance reviewer to go drive up sales. Think for yourself and wear what YOU like...

Unwind is by far the better of the two fragrences by tumi. This one is deeper and has a little more character than its day time cousin awaken. It does try to do the santal 33 and royal oud vibe... but where royal oud uses a beautuful cedar note that is one of the best cedars i have smelled. Unwind uses a thick cruchy sandalwood. Very coarse and choppy rather than soft and spongy and lemony like quality sandalwood. If i had to pick one of the two tumi frags this wins by a mile. Good longevity though and projection is decent within an arms length. Definately wouldnt run out to buy a bottle but it is intresting enough to wear if someone gifted it to me. The bottles are vintage paco rabanne tinted with a locking mechanism just like tumi luggage. You can see they put some thought into this but i feel like the idea was for men who travel to use one fragrance during the day and one at night. Tough launch time with a pandemic raging. Probably wont get much love by the community but a decent release. Plus i noticed you can wear this hours after spraying awaken and they mesh pretty well. Interesting idea and i like the thought. Maybe if a niche company took this idea and ran with the morning & evening fragrance concept it might take off.. & they can get you to buy double the bottles! :) 7/10

I liked Unwind in the samples, but Awaken lasted longer on my skin and put me in a better mood when I wore it. Unwind is more complex and that soft oud you get in the dry down with vetiver is very nice. Awaken and Unwind both have this sugary quality about them that is pleasing and is kind of unique to them. Unwind has more character and is a little more interesting than Awaken but both are good quality and well blended designer scents. Not really worth it for $100 retail but if you can find it for less than $60 it’d be nice to pull out every once in a while and the bottle would also look nice in a collection. 7.2/10

I don't know if it's just me but I sampled this at the store and the projection on this one is downright violent. Maybe it's because I put the tester strip in my bag and wasn't smelling it all day but I kept getting whiffs of it coming up out of the bag when it wasn't even anywhere near my face. It smells great. The woody, oud-y note comes through very strong. Bottle is also very nice. Cap weighs like seventeen pounds.

I dont get all the hate toward Tumi, or this frag. It must be all the sheep that follow these influencers and believe everything on tik tok. This is a solid fragrance and the performance is amazing. Im not a niche/designer snob but i will admit this is the least expensive bottle i own by far. I get more compliments with this, than my 300$ bottle of Mind Games En Prise, and the performance is 4 times better.

This is a very "safe" fragrance. I don't like it. There is no attitude or character to this whatsoever. It reminds me of something I have randomly smelled in the air walking through a department store, which I don't think of as a good thing. Tumi's Continuum, on the other hand, is pretty great. Definitely the most niche-smelling and most interesting of their offerings - check it out.

an edp with heavy notes that comes off as airy in a good way but lasts long, a nice accomplishment in my book. comparable to creed royal oud and armani oud royal.. because of the strong sandalwood note piercing through the base. excellent job by tumi longevity 8h+

Unwind is a light, fresh scent that is common amongst much cheaper alternatives that you can find online or in a bargain rack store. The only brow-raising aspect of this scent is the price of the bottle. I wouldn't spend no more than $25 USD for this fragrance.

I think this smells like a weak twist of Fahrenheit. I like it, but I already have Mercedes Intense which is the same profile, more or less. Luckily the 1 oz. bottle is perfect for my travel kit, so not too much of a wasted purchase.

This one is an in-betweener... it smells fresh and good but then there is some note in there I just cannot stand. Its kind of a sharp citrus cucumber note? Hard to put my finger on what it is but whatever it is I do not like it.

I got a little bit of a Santal 33 vibe, but a little less fuzzy. It's cut with a little bit of sweetness and some aromatics, but the sandalwood remains the star of the show. Nice scent.

Smells like Aventus. I actually like it better, because it doesn’t have the heavy saltiness that turns my stomach a bit In Aventus. Performance not as good obvious though.

I received samples of both of the new TUMI fragrances from Neiman Marcus. UNWIND is a very pleasant non offensive spicy, aromatic. A very nice first time outing for TUMI.

I don’t understand why is it to me this fragrance had a fish oil smell to it ... i thought it was the marine notes but it’s not there

It really has a bright clean opening. After letting mine sit for a few months, it got way stronger & better.

I have one bottle , willing to trade in the USA
