Vanilla & Tobacco No.12

Had high hopes for this, despite the low price tag. The magnetic box it came in was the best thing about receiving it. The cheap plastic cap should have been a warning. But I tried to remain open minded and gave it a few sprays. Opening was awful. Weird and synthetic. Unpleasant. No discernible vanilla or tobacco notes, just super weird. Definitely not sweet at all. A while later it started to smell just slightly less offensive, but it was still quite unpleasant. I’m trying hard not to be too harsh, so I best leave it at that. They were supposed to include a small sample vial of the same scent so I could try it out before opening the big bottle. That way I could try it out and if I felt it wouldn’t work, I could still return it and get a refund. No such luck. They sent a small sample of their Silken No. 93. It’s a clone of a well regarded and very expensive fragrance for women. So no return, I opened the bottle to try it out. The sample was almost as bad as the No. 12. My GF smelled it on her arm and said it just smelled cheap and unremarkable. The company has a rather strict return policy. Not too different from most, but a little bit severe given the nature of their products. Cheap poor quality clone perfumes for people who wish they could afford the stuff that’s out of reach for most of us. A person would do much better sticking to inexpensive fragrances from Middle Eastern and mainstream manufacturers that offer competitive pricing and their own designs than thinking anything they buy from Twist will be anything close to the fragrances they claim to copy.
