Cotton Musk Original

Vania? Woody? Citrus? Bitter orange? What? No no no no no. I've been wearing it for years. No no no. This is the cleanest, softest, fluffiest, most velvety cotton flower and white musk perfume you'll come across. More thick than the Body Shop's White musk, not quite as thick as Solinotes' Cotton flower. Perfectly in the middle, smooth, soft, clean. Clean but not laundry like- it is soft and feminine, more aromatic than the average laundry detergent. It lasts quite a few hours, even on hot, humid, Greek summers, which is when i first bought it, desperate for a refreshing sense of cleanliness when i was sticky and sweaty all over in the sardine can on wheels that we call "the bus". Good projection, good longevity, even more so when you factor in the price (€10ish/50ml-$12ish/1,6oz). It is the perfect all day any day perfume, for all ages, all occasions. Some might find this underwhelming for a night out but that never stopped me personally. I like what i like. If you love Flower by Kenzo but are short on your budget, this will do the trick. It's a must try for anyone who loves soft clean powdery perfumes, the smell of fluffy clean laundry, white musk and cotton flower. And it's so safe too-it is a very complimented crowd pleaser and i think that even as a blind buy, it won't hurt your wallet even if you don't like it, and you can easily gift it to someone else....as i said, easy going, crowd pleaser.

So about 3 years ago, i received a sample of this with a purchase i made on ebay. I was so intrigued by this scent. It was odd and nothing like I've ever smelled before. I finished the sample, but somehow forgot about it until i was randomly reminded of this scent a few weeks ago. Why? It's beyond me, but i was prompted to buy the full bottle. Now that i think of it, i think there weren't any bottles available in the U.S. at the time because Ulric de Varens is a France based company. Now here's the funny part. Cotton Musk notes are listed as Bitter Orange, Jasmine, Honeysuckle, Freesia, Vanilla, Sandalwood and Tonka Bean. You get NONE of these notes in this composition. NONE! This smells like baby wipes and disinfectant spray, but in the best way possible. Now i know what you're thinking. "EWW", right?😂But I'm almost willing to bet money that quite a few people would probably love this if they gave it a try. It's soft, but slightly sharp, it's fresh, clean and leaves me constantly sniffing my wrist. Despite this not smelling like any of the notes listed, it's far from a disappointment. Cotton Musk lasted about 4-5 hours on my skin and has a moderate projection. Overall, i am highly satisfied with this fragrance. If you're interested in this fragrance, i would suggest sampling this first because i can understand why this wouldn't be up someone's alley. Scent: 10/10 Packaging: 8/10 Performance: 6/10

I get a very light, citrusy/bitter, orange rind on top, a soft/barely there vanilla middle with a touch of a slightly indolic honeysuckle and freesia, and a light musky/sandalwood-y base. It’s extremely light and airy because of the citrus top notes. It’s not overly sweet and the vanilla is barely detectable — it just slightly sweetens and softens the white florals in the mid notes. And the warm musk and sandalwood base ground everything and adds a powdery element to the scent. I really enjoy this perfume! It’s simple, light, powdery, and girly :) I can definitely understand the comparisons of this scent to baby powder or baby wipes, but I can make out the white florals, vanilla, and the orange notes well enough that it doesn’t smell spot on to baby wipes or baby powder to me. If you enjoy powdery scents or soft white florals, I think you’ll enjoy this one!

And a fluff girl indeed! Soft, baby wipes musk with good-enough nuances to make it very lush. However, I was surprised to notice that I feel a trail of Pink Sugar-like vanilla cotton candy in a very muted way when spraying it in the office powder room. I suppose that is the trail it actually leaves in the dry down and it makes me feel a bit uncomfortable, at least in the office environment where the first half hour of Cotton Musk seemed mature-ish enough. Otherwise, such a bargain, this is a very pretty, comforting, and joyful fragrance. Now, that I have finished a bottle, I can't wait to repurchase it.

Very much a your skin but better sort of skin scent. It’s very light and whispy! As stated in most reviews, the notes seem irrelevant - this smells like fresh laundry and baby powder at first spray but on my skin, as it warms up I get a soft candy floss (cotton candy) accord and I LOVE IT! It doesn’t smell like vanilla and it’s certainly not woody (both things I generally dislike in a scent!) but it has a sweet sugared quality that makes me very happy indeed. Such a fabulous perfume for those who are sensitive to strong scents or work in healthcare. I love Demeter Baby Powder but it’s a bit much in hot weather as it’s super powdery (of course!). This is a perfect summer alternative! And you can trust that this one is amazing for bedtime!

A very unique scent, more for a teenager and extra suitable for the ones who wants to smell like they just got out of their bath. Fresh, yet kindly sexy. There is a great deal of value for this fragrance, especially if you find it as the set version (with body lotion etc). inspiration in words: "Everyone turns their heads slightly, categorically. What a strange feeling? It smells like someone just got out of the shower and yet, they can smell they're hiding something they did. An ethereal figure, you find it, you lose it. A light mood, but it's always leaving a mark on you. Is it possible for someone to be filthy and clean at the same time? Playful like Joker, but kind deep down, will be ready to mature when old enough".

The only perfume I can tolerate in hot weathers, I'm a musk lover so nothing much to say this is heaven so nostalgic and reminds me of early 2000's. If you like soft clean girl fragrances like body shop white musk or chloe love it's similar in terms of powdery feeling.

I just tested Molocule 01 - just pure Iso-E-Super - and instantly I thought “Cotton Musk”!

Smells like baby powder. Baby smell! Great for sleeping!

This smells like baby wipes. To me it seems a love or hate perfume as the scent is very specific. I get zero vanilla nor do I get the orange. It's soft cotton with a musky drydown, surprisingly dense. I live in a very humid weather so for me it's more of an autumn fragrance not a summer one. Zero projection and poor longevity. I tossed it.

COMPLETELY Ignore the notes listed on the UdV website and here. Because there is none of it. This smells straight up like Johnson & Johnson's (or Huggies) baby wipes. Another regret purchase from UdV for me. This cost me $6.75 for 100ml on a sale, but it's not worth even that. Seriously smells like $1.50 wipes. Where is the sandalwood? Vanilla? Bitter orange? I should report the brand for false advertising. On a plus side it's got great silage and acceptable longevity (5 hours). If you love the smell of baby wipes or baby fabric softener, this is the fragrance for you. I recommend grabbing during sales.

Just a little review to share Cotton Musk smells very similar to body fantasies “Baby Shampoo Fantasy” body mist. To my nose they are both a soft pink baby powder scent with a hint of vanilla tonka bean that adds a minty vanilla sweetness to the baby powder. Other baby powder scents that are in a similar category are Avon sweet honesty, harajuku Baby, harajuku wicked style baby, perfect veil, Xyrena Plastic, Gucci guilty love edition mmxxi, loves baby soft ...

This is one part powdery late 70s/ early 80s perfume (like in Gloria Vanderbilt or Oscar De La Renta), one part the scent aerosol musk deodorant (like Impulse musk in the spray can). No cotton candy, orange, or vanilla. Smells very old school and powdery to my nose. I have the one in the round bottle, and not the newer smaller one.

Cotton Musk looks like Natura Musc. Since Natura Musc descontinuation I've been looking for some fragrance to substitute it. The musk note in these fragrances isn't over powdering, it's soft and fresh, with hints of flower and sweetness.
