Mini Beauty

Got this little gem for 5$ and I felt like I was stealing it! This smells like combination of Givenchy’s Ange Ou Demon and Mugler’s Aura, but much much softer. It’s sweet, fresh and playful. Perfect for early rainy spring!

Tested on a warm spring afternoon, first 3 sprays on each arm then 5. Summary: Boring, no character nor soul. All other UdV fragrances I tried evoke something to me, but this one is just "there" and I am very bored by it. After a pair of hours the musk notes disappear and it becomes a discreet vanilla warm citrus which is better for my taste. Apparently it's the musk notes that bore me, which is interesting because I usually like musk notes. -- I have to agree with the reviewer below that calls this one "Mini Boring". Indeed, it doesn't seem to have any character or soul. While I don't judge cheaper perfumes with the same expectation of art or complexity of more expensive ones, UdV scents I tried have usually been fragrances that, even when more simple or linear, evoke something for me. A sensation, an imagination, a "vibe". This one evokes nothing. So I will try to review it in terms of notes only. I cannot smell any blackcurrant, or any berry, for that matter. To my nose, I smell first and foremost musk, the kind of musk used to give fragrance to hair sprays and other hair products (the gaseous one which I am not a fan of, not the beautiful oily "white musk" of fragrance oils which I love in all its incarnations). It's a shame. Were it the oily kind of musk, I would be making a different review. Underneath it, I get generic citruses. When I say generic, I mean that while it does smell citrusy, it's not the beautiful sunny citruses of the beginning of Mini Love, nor the warm, sweet lemon citruses of a lot of well-known perfumes like Light Blue and CK One. It's a citrus note with no soul, no emotional resonance with me. I also get a hint of vanilla, not enough to be boozy or candy-ish. Just there. It's not unpleasant per se. It's just meh. As it dries, the musk disappears and it becomes even simpler and more linear, but this improves it for my taste. It becomes a typical skin-close warm citrus vanilla, which while linear and too simple, is comforting for me. If I remember, I will retry on a cool day to see if it performs differently.

I like it! It's simple, fresh and nice. The vanilla note isn't too strong. This would be a safe blind buy or gift! The packaging is cute, considering the low price.

The only one of the "Mini" line which I find really boring. Mini beauty indeed. The concept of the row would have asked for something a bit inversed to the sweetness of the other Minis. Like a sparkly, green cologne style beauty, more androgynously self-confident. Or at least peppermint and grass. Nevermind. The others are fun.
