Varens d'Orient Rubis

This an almost fresh and crisp fruity and floral accord laying on a frame of warm and sensual musky,woody notes, with oudy or balsamic facets. It starts by resembling like a feminine only perfume with the sweet citrus pear and stirax, Rapidly becomes an unisex fragrance during the heart stage. Despite some florals, an enchanting jasmine in particular,a behaved peaceful balsamic oud pushes the fragrance to a more unisex aroma The bottom is all about the residual oud and labdanum framing strong woody notes of sandalwood, seazoned by musk and patchouli. It's a smooth, sweet, woody, semi animalic & earthy musky scent with a touch of smoke, that is revealed during the pleasuring drydown. Performance is average and the presentation is atrocious. Value for money is somewhere in the Himalayas, meaning of course that it is quite high. For less than 10 Euros the 100ml bottle, please do give it a try. It is a very fun perfume to wear and surprise other people. It just will not please fresh & green scents addicts. I love this perfume it really is Oriental. The smell is so musky and wood ,but floral at the same time. It's perfect for fall ,winter and even for spring. It was love at first smell and look because the bottle is so pretty. and it's very affordable I just had to buy it.

I tried this fragrance by meere chance and discovered a very well blended unisex ambery Oud fragrance for less than 9 Euros.

I ordered this one just because I found a 100mil tester of it for the crazy price of 6$ I had also purchased the blue one(Saphir),so I thought these bottles are going to look cute sitting side by side on my shelf but I was almost sure that I'm going to hate it as I dislike oud,labdanum and overly woody scents.well,I don't hate it.actually I'm digging it,I'd better say that I like it It's not the dark,bitter,masculine arabic oudy perfume which I imagined it to be.pear and jasmine give it a lot of gentle,bright and clean feminity.this almost fresh and crisp floral fruity accord lays on a bed of warm and sensual musky,woody notes.not much oudy or balsamic,though now that I'm looking for these notes,I can see their footprints here and there.oh and I can pickup something like a powdery vanilla It truely belongs to the floralwoodymusk category.feminine,pleasant and wearable,not something revolutionary and very complex,also not too bland or soulless.not girly,not childish,not old,not masculine.not too light or too heavy.not heavily floral,not strongly woody or overbearingly musky either.I think we can call it a balanced perfume.it can be appropriate in a business meeting as well as a date evening.it's not a red scent IMO.I don't know what colour is good for it but definitely not red.to me it's wearable year round probably better suited for mild weather such as spring and fall.I'm going to edit and add about it's longevity and sillage but for now I'm happy with it's potency.it's not a faint water like my other recent blindbuys.not a punch in nose either About the bottle,it's not an expensive-looking glass but all in all I like it.I just wish my tester came with a cap Edit: After a few days of wearing it I can say that it's somewhere between like and love for me.it's much better than some of my ten times more expensive perfumes.whenever I spray it sensual and classy are the first words coming to my mind.I love the balance between easier to handle,clean and crisp and delicately sweet jasmine and pear and warmer,deeper,slightly dirty and sexy musk,woods and amber. I asked my husband to rate it and he said 8 of 10 so he seems to like it too The only down side is that after 2,3 hours it's a skinscent of mostly musk,wood and vanilla.this soft musky-woody scent clings to skin for another couple of hours but it doesn't project.but this isn't a deal breaker.it's so cheap that one can respray it every hour and it has a nice sillage in first hour.also I guess it',s drydown was meant to be this way,subtle and skinclose to create this nude,intimate,silky scent which is very inviting and sexy in it's own way It's a very successful blindbuy for me 2nd edit: It reminds me of a less powdery Alaia Blanche.

This surprised me. I like it! Beginning is a sweet, soapy non-acidic but subdued pear that immediately combines with a light, fresh jasmine. The jasmine isn't syrupy, screeching or heavy like in Mugler 'Alien' (2005) or Valentino 'Born in Roma'. Rather crisp, clean, a bit like shampoo. I'm generally not a fan of oud, but the reviewers Carlitos and Soofiya were SPOT ON. This is a peaceful, calm, balsamic oud, musky and sensual...Not overbearing or Arabic-style (definitely a 'Western' oud). It's sweet-woody and has a hint of nuttiness on my skin...blends smoothly & compliments the other notes. The smoky characteristic is subtle on me, but noticeable enough for me to appreciate. There also seems to be a hint of animalic/leathery note, but it's ever so slight...probably due to the labdanum. Out of the 3 'Varens d'Orient for Her' this one is the most unique. The dry-down is more intriguing than UdV's 'Saphir'. I feel 'Rubis' would truly shine in cold weather. This scent has taken me into a perfume territory I'm iffy about...and I'm not mad at it!
