Nota Loca

Delectable tropical candy drying down to a fairly realistic papaya musk tinged with sweet mango. What sets Nota Loca apart from the other exotic fumes is its exuberant radiance. The opening evokes chilled crystal-clear champagne, wrapped in the luscious aromas of tropical fruit where a pronounced bright tang from yuzu cuts through the fruity sweetness of mango and papaya. Picture sipping a glass of Cristal next to an extravagant buffet of freshly-cut fruit, the sweet, citrusy and musky aromas mingling in an ambrosial cloud. To me, this is island vacay in a bottle, the part where I chill by the pool, listening to my Spotify list, all cares a thousand miles away. As papaya and mango fuse and turn sweeter, I get hints of a fizzy ginger ale mixed with tropical hard candy, think mango-flavored Jolly Ranchers. The coconut note keeps mostly to the background and reads as clear coconut water rather than the familiar thick and creamy suntan lotion, allowing the fruits and musks to freely shine through. I love the luminosity of this scent and the refreshing way it unfolds on skin. While slightly synthetic in the opening, Nota Loca becomes increasingly balmy and realistic as it dries down, the sheer, musky layer of fruit staying on my skin 6-7 hours. This is a scent to pair up with your strappy heels, off-the-shoulder tops and shimmery body oils. If you want to amp up the coconut, I’d go with Nest’s Balinese Coconut body oil or a spritz of Laura Mercier’s Almond Coconut EDP. Comps: Tales from Zanzibar, Leisure in Paradise

Opening makes me think of a bowl of mashed up blacurrants or in this case acai berries, spritzed with yuzu and sprinkled with the zest, it is mouthwatering and makes me hungry. The drydown is reminding me a lot of HOS Hauts Bijoux, and I think it's due to the similar combination of Acai Berry + Mango, and Blackcurrant + Mango. They also both have something citrusy, in this case it's Yuzu, and Hauts Bijoux it's grapefruit. I really like this, it's friggin fantastic.

The candy reviews are spot on. For some reason the opening of this comes off as Red Vines. Weird, but pretty much whatever that thing is in Red Vines that makes it smell so unique- I get it in this fragrance. But then mixed with coconut. It’s not overly sweet but does smell like candy and coconut. Doesn’t smell at all like Leisure in Paradise to me.

Holy wow summer scent. The mango and coconut are forward with a creaminess from the coconut on the back end. Literally smells like a mai tai in the warm sand on a FL beach. Projection from just the sample was wonderful. For sure full bottle worthy!

Fruity candy note disappears very rapidly, leaving a quite normal smelling tropical dry down. Wouldn't wear again.

To me it's a really nice fruity scent, it's pretty unique for the notes of a fruity fragrance IMO. I feel like I smell the acai berries, yuzu, mango and papaya along with the vanilla and tonka, but at the same time it's blended pretty well to, and it's definitely almost like an exotic smoothie type of smell! I don't particularly get coconut as a standout note, nor do I pick up the Cardamom, but they all sort of mix together to give a really nice fruity scent. It's one I think I could wear all year honestly, it doesn't scream just summer to me. I really like it, and its definitely one to consider if you're into fruity scents. The price is a bit steep for me considering the fact that I live in a country that has summer like 1× month of the whole year lol, but im still considering to add it in the future 😊

I don't think this is as bad as some others say it is, but I'm very forgiving of fragrance. I think someone else mentioned that this is reminiscent of a Sol De Janeiro body mist type of scent and I agree with that. It's not a sophisticated perfume but if you like fruity body mist type fragrances from SDJ or BBW, then this one will also be pleasant for you. This could possibly even be used as part of a layering combo with one of those.

Normally, I’d really dislike a scent that smells this artificial, but somehow I can’t stop sniffing this chaotic mix of chemical notes. I guess it’s because of the papaya. I also smell mango and a hint of coconut, and it kind of resembles the bubblegum I used to have as a kid. The important thing is, I must have smelled something like this when I was really young—it feels familiar. But please don’t blind buy this bottle.

Candy. The artificial kind. Gets a bit less artificial after a bit, it gets better. Similar to the Simone Andreoli, can smell papaya.

Sometimes I get in the mood for this type of elevated B&BW tropical fruit fragrance. But today I made the crucial mistake of applying it on a genuinely hot day. In actual heat this becomes sickly, radiating sugar and vague fruits and coconut. Like one too many tropical cocktails turning rancid in your stomach. It's less intensely sweet and coconutty in the drydown, more like a papaya nectar. Definitely in the vein of some Simone Andreolis or Tales from Zanzibar, even if not exactly dupes. I prefer it for a spring day when it's not really warm enough to go to the beach but I'm looking forward to doing that.

Do i like it? Do i hate it? I am not sure. Maybe both? Love the mango top notes but moments of plasticy “fruit flavor”. I think this is similar to the cheroisa body spray but less sweet or salty.

If you find musky and sour scents challenging like I do, do not blind buy this. The tropical fruits in Nota Loca are green and smell unripe. The perfume starts fresh, and I do smell the mango and Yuzu. It fades fast and turns into a sour musk like the fruit is decaying. Not as pleasant as Nota Sugar. I disagree about the Sol de Janeiro comparisons. This is missing the sweetness and playfulness. Very quickly this turned musty on my skin. This is a summer freshy that takes its self too seriously. The performance is poor in both longevity and projection. This was a fail for me. 1/10

This is a really weird perfume. It smells more tolerable than it did a few mos ago, but there is definitely a synthetic, pukey rotten fruit vibe. I think it’s the papaya. I can’t eat papaya because it reminds me of vomit. Also, for the cost, no sillage and longevity and my sample is not new.I’ll see if my daughter wants this sample, she actually likes papaya. If not, it’s getting donated. Nota Loca, I do love the name, is not blind buy safe.

Agree with Jasmin92 - this is totally banana laffy taffy. It then went to fruit by the foot for me and finished with an orange lollypop melting in the sun. This is something I would wear in 6th grade - sickly sweet. I have Nota Sugar and I love it, but this is just not it. Rub yourself with banana taffy and call it a day instead.

On paper, this smells like banana laffy taffy at the opening and then morphs to a mango Hi-Chew. Either way, it’s very candy-like to my nose and smells very artificial.

Goes over the border of too cloying and sweet. I gotta stop buying the seasonal sample sets from luckyscent. It's too much randomness and I rarely like anything.

Mango, banana taffy taffy, and red vines in that order. Fun for only a few minutes, then it disintegrates into a synthetic mess and I want it OFF my skin.

When one reads the name "Nota Loca", it sounds like a fragrance lover's tropical dream come true but it fails to impress the way it should especially with the notes breakdown. I have never tried the açai berry note in a fragrance and although here it is appreciable overall, it doesn't feel well rounded along with the other notes like I believe a good niche fragrance should. This could easily pass off as a Bath and Body Works Summer edition scent and I would be happy to pay the SAS price for it but to spend niche price on it seems entirely unjustifiable. I have a LuckyScent sample and I just doused myself with it before going to bed only to be done with it so that I can make room for scents I actually like. Money not wasted but not well spent either. It surely doesn't have that 'transport you to a tropical vacation day' quality about it even though it's a job well done by 'Mango'. Try before you buy this somewhat dainty number, imho. PS: The only way I see it appropriately working is as a pillow mist sprayed on the bedding in one of those hotels in some sultry South American country hotel where you have those swaying floor mist fans and where the Açai berry is actually from or even any Southeast Asian country as the atmospheric conditions are similar. There I could really see it adding to the vibe!

First spray is without a doubt a load of red vines followed by a collection of other colorful sugary candies. The suntan lotion coconut note slides in at about 30 minutes and the finish is a synthetic mix of coconut and musk. nice sillage and lasts several hours. This is twelve year old Kerri going to the candy store at the mall buying every red vine and banana taffy taffy in sight. Slipping it into my beach bag and heading for Huntington. Lay out my beach blanket, slather on my coconut infused suntan lotion and spend the rest of the day basking in the sunshine and snacking on my candy in my bikini - no fear. Finish every single last straw!

Just like some others, I also get a fleeting, tropical, candy like scent that is very artificial smelling. I strongly agree with the reviewer who said it smelled musty, I get vibe that for sure. I get a Tales of Zanzibar vibe from this as well which is a fragrance I also didn’t care for and one I felt had a BO musty like smell running throughout. They are not the same fragrance and Tales Of Zanzibar actually performs and lasts unlike this but they both share similar vibes. Definitely not for me.

Oof this is extremely musty on my skin. Smells very much like unwashed pits. I’m yanking this right off my want shelf. Me and tropical notes have never been a thing so your mileage may vary. ETA: I decided to give this a full wear because I want to love this one so bad. The banana is the prominent note in the opening which I love, then the papaya and mango take over. The musty element is still there (which is always a deal breaker for me) but the dry down reminds me of a dirtier Sunset Hour.

Agree w/ others...fleeting tropical candy. Poor longevity and sillage like Nota Sugar too. Ulyka is 0 for 2 for me.

I would have bet my life this had a banana note. Rich, pungent, tropical fruit perfume. Sweet like candy.

Incredible summer fragrance!! Really easy to wear and I finished my sample. Ordered a bottle already.

Smells very yellow, waxy and tart. Like a fruity body spray for grown-ups.
