Bohemian Soul

Smells like Dyptique Tam Dao. Less full and embodied version. Less sandalwood and more incense. Incense is one of my favorite notes in perfumery. I prefer my Tam Dao, lasts a lot longer. This is a gorgeous fragrance though, I think it might smell a little bit better. This would probably be best in hotter temps, it would project to where others could smell it too. It’s a happy clean wood citrus fragrance with a backbone of incense. Anyone could wear this. It’s not a daring scent. I really enjoy it, if I didn’t have Tam Dao, I would consider adding it. I’m going to give it a like, as it is a safe scent that everyone would love, I tend to go for the more daring and obscure.

This is just so pleasant. Pretty, soft, mysterious. The opening is green and settles into a beautiful, Milky sandalwood with some powdery floral nuances. I also get a hint of soft, resinous, Japanese style incense. It's definitely in the same vein as Annick Goutal's other fragrances but not as sweet as the ones I've tried. This is so soft and easy to wear without being boring and is my go to for work, when I don't know what to wear, and when I'm around fragrance sensitive friends. I think I always want to have this around!

I've always had a soft spot for the "woody - powdery iris" type. That's why I can compare it with its counterparts. In my opinion, this is a very successful perfume! A classy woody scent takes the lead. And with supporting notes like myrrh and frankincense, it’s simply magnificent! I can also confirm that it shares some common traits with those it’s compared to, but this one stands out because it’s more long-lasting and woodier. Since it has less of a citrus aspect, the woody character isn’t overshadowed.

Bvlgari Pour Homme grew up, stopped being loud and started to think before he spoke. Bohemian Soul instantly took me back to my highschool days, specifically my Junior year, when I wore Pour Homme like it was Holy Water. Bohemian Soul is an excellent herbal freshly for the warmer daytime outings. Great projection and sillage without being obnoxious. Moderate longevity, about 4-6 hours on skin depending on spray count (I do 6). Love and “Add to Cart” on first sniff.

I have heard people comparing it to Byredo's Gypsy Water, and one friend told me to try this. Thank you, Sylvie :) On my skin it starts off fresh and airy, then dries down into a soft sandalwood smell. The only downside is the longevity. It’s definitely a skin scent and only lasts about 3-4 hours on me before fading. But honestly, it smells so gorgeous and calming that I don't mind reapplying. The perfect, easy to wear everyday woody scent for me.

This is a very nice fresh sandalwood fragrance with some beautiful spice. To me, it’s smells very reminiscent of Tam Dao EDP, but not as dirty and raw. This smells of higher quality somehow, Dyptique is very high quality stuff , so more in the essence of how it is perceived. Performance, meh. Not the greatest. This is a fragrance I think everyone would love. It’s happy. Sandalwood is 100% the front runner here. I like it much more than Santal 33.

I love the opening - it's zesty but slightly sweet at the same time, nice combination of bitter artemisia and balsamic olibanum also combo of wood and iris at the heart is refreshing but soft. gentle musky drydown. it's absolutely lovely, completely unisex, leans feminine on me really. I would only wish it were stronger, it feel quite faint, just like Nothing but Sea and Sky of the same house

I love Gaiac so so much. It has a strong gaiac opening, so of course this is gorgeous. The supporting notes lend to the mystery and allure. I think it was genius to have gaiac be the focus. I hope this lasts for an ungodly amount of time

Really like this one! Opens very herbal, reminding me of a spa. My favorite part however is the drydown, comforting wood. Ultimately wouldn't buy a full bottle due to the longetivity, which is on the lower end of moderate.

This is such a comforting scent. Incensey, sweet and powdery. I'm never crazy over incense in fragrance except when it's done this way. The sweetness and powderiness softens it. A lovely fragrance, so well blended.

I do get the Byredo GW resemblance, but where that one has the slightest hint of sweetness, to my nose Bohemian Soul is herbal, earthy and more woody. A dry and comforting scent; calming, but bright.

Sea, sand and skin. This fragrance is perfect for chill summer night on the beach.

Frankincense, cedar, powdery vanillic notes and surprisingly what smells like a a good amount of patchouli, make up this beautiful creamy, sweet yet robust woody aromatic scent that is unusually affordable for the level of complexity found in it. Opening bright and green, yet sweet with a powdery finish, a dense green resinous unlit frankincense note resonates in the opening with a woody backdrop. Soon the sweetness settles to a nice cushion of powdery vanillic musky notes contrasting a tart resinous cedar together with a dense patchouli core, woody, earthy, and dense. In fact I get some occasional chocolate vibes from it that remind me of other powdery vanillic patchouli scents out there. As I wait the woodiness really persists and dominates, cedar, patchouli and warm musk slightly a retro barbershop vibe in the base, not too much, just enough to reminds you that this is at its core a woody aromatic, not a semi-gourmand as the creamy chocolatey almost ice cream-like undertones may suggest. At the time of this review I have not sampled Gypsy Water, which apparently this is suspiciously similar to, but judging from what I get right now this is an excellent masculine leaning all year day scent, half fragrant woody aromatic, half sweet powdery musky semi-gourmand. Edit: I visited the local Byredo booth just to test Gypsy Water to compare expecting to find an even higher-end version of this fragrance, but instead found a daintier, slightly sweeter hence also more feminine leaning cousin of Bohemian Soul without much of that deep resinous woody base, I would say at a 70% similarity, to difference in quality. Easy choice if you ask me.

Writing this review for those who, like I did, find themselves drawn in by that marketing copy. There's plenty to like about this fragrance, but at no moment of the experience do I feel any sense of the excitement of travel, and certainly nothing about the scent connotes anything touching water. Leave aside hopes for relaxing, refreshing coastal breezes and beachy vibes. What you should rather expect is a *very* powdery (I would even say 'dusty'), warm, soft-woody cloud that connotes a stale comfort rather than adventure or lazy cruising. I can sense some freshness in there somewhere, but that powdery quality has it utterly muffled. Projection and longevity are both reasonably strong. The GW comparisons aren't completely off-base, but I would not recommend this is a cheap stand-in, again because of that powder. Some will enjoy this, but sadly it is very much not for me. My partner also HATES this much more than any fragrance I've shown her, lol. EDIT: With time and warmer weather, the 'dustiness' has backed off a little and some subtle but welcome sharpness has come through. Better!

- Woody and fresh aromatics that almost smell citrusy in the opening. I love the opening of this fragrance. It's impressively blended. Smells like it would suit summer wear perfectly. The dry down captures the heat of the day on a sandy beach relaxing reading a book on a vintage beach blanket. Each of the samples comes with a lovely card with description, notes, and a beautifully drawn image. The one that accompanies this fragrance is a beach scene and the image captures the essence of this fragrance perfectly. Love this one and I wasn't expecting to just by glancing at the notes. It's my favorite from the discovery set. It's very much a "your skin but better" scent for me. I definitely smell the gorgeous iris in the drydown. I want a bottle. If you decide to sample this, wait for the drydown on your skin which takes a while. It's worth it. Bohemian Soul might be my favourite I have sampled from the brand. It is aromatic and earthy, and unisex leaning masculine. I would say it defines the fresh spicy category, a great option to wear something with some depth and spice in the warmer months. I detect something cardamom like but there isn't any. This is a rare scent I would like to wear as much as I would like to smell on my husband. A great fragrance for free spirits and nature lovers. The name is spot-on, as per usual with Une Nuit Nomade. Very nicely done.

Another wonderful and beautiful scent from Une Nuit à Montauk. Guaic wood and frankincense with a little powdery iris backing it around 30 minutes. All composed with quality ingredients that never smell Everything from Une Nuit à Montauk has knocked my socks off. I find it a bit similar to Imaginary Authors "Memoirs of a Trespasser" minus some of the smoke and vanilla. A very pleasant small with resins and myrrh. The guaiac wood is very present as well - one of my favorite notes. Woody - almost with a bit of soapiness in the base. Iris is not very present - but its lurking around in the back and settles after a while.

Very fresh and nostalgic - green, aromatic, woody with a touch of incense. Masculine for sure. On my skin the musk and myrrh take center stage pretty quickly, so it switches from “cold and fresh” to “warm and cozy” within 30ish minutes. Sadly the longevity is not there.

The name is well appropriate. A fresh and relaxing fragrance with the notes of artemisia, iris, sandalwood and musk. Unisex, calming, comforting scent. For all seasons. Bohemian Soul reflects perfectly a bohemian journey with modernity. 8/10 Same vibe of Gypsy water

Some people compare it to Gypsy Water... Well, Bohemian Soul reminds me just a bit of Byredo's drydown. This is a warm, amber woody fragrance, minimalistic, calming and very relaxing. Unisex for all seasons. Simple & beautiful.

There must be some citrus at the top because I picked up a hint of dish soap. The frankincense is distinct. Without any spicy notes alongside, it’s quite fresh—a kind of frankincense freshness. I don’t feel to much wood here.

Rough, woody, adventurous. Kind of like when you go camping and you face the harsh conditions, enjoying every moment. It's not for me, but I get it, I love it, I recommend to try it.

differentiating between a few hippie inspired scents right now and this one is more nuanced though i think i lean towards something stronger

Smells almost exactly the same as Blgari pour homme with better durability and ingredients. Nice, clean and calming, but nothing special.

Reminds me of Encre Noir, but more powdery. Pleasant, but not very strong.

As a perfumer in the making, I find this scent ALMOST finished, but not quite yet. I ordered a sample set from their website to discover the whole line, because I am curious to find new gems, sadly I didn't find it here. The opening is kind of fizzly, rather plain and without too much character or scent, like some sort of Sprite/Gin, artificially sweet like. 15 minutes later the scent is showing up more, becoming more pleasant and nice, and that's when I noticed that it's something I have smelled before. It took me a few hours to realize it's very similar to another scent I already had (Past that characterless opening phase), and that is - Gypsy Water by Byredo. And funnily it states on the Bohemian Soul Description "This is how the "Gypset" trend (a fusion of Gypsy and Jet Setter) was born", in my opinion shamelessly suggesting "This is a Gypsy Water with a fluff", because that's what it is. Now, is it a good scent DNA? Yes, the drydown is nice. It's not by any means "Top Niche" quality, it is just nice, like Byredo's Gypsy Water is nice, perhaps nicer. It's a nice to have scent, and I think that the 3ml sample I bought will lasts me just enough until I get over this scent, because it's nothing spectacular.

Strong, herbal and drunk. Opens very alcoholic and aromatic, like a cold cocktail, then dries down to smooth woodsiness; genderless as in it's perfect for both a modern dandy and an edgy party girl. For me, this is the summer I finished high school; watching the stars, rolling on the concrete in the middle of the city street, singing West Coast at the top of our lungs with my best friend after too many absinthe shots. This perfume is a pretty chic way of telling the world you’re older, stronger, and more rebellious than you actually are. (@sharpteethstarlet on TT for more reviews 🌝)

Ordered the discovery set from Une Nuit Nomade, and first off, BEAUTIFUL packing, very evocative and artistic, and super fast shipping. <3 It opens up with a blast of something that smells an awful lot like freshly squeezed oranges (not a bad thing, but strange when mixed with the powderiness of iris). This rapidly disappears and then fades into a lightly powdered, woodsy skin scent. Disappeared on my skin within the hour - but my skin isn't kind to perfumes and I live in a very hot climate. This might work better on someone with more conducive skin and in cooler weather.

I love Guaiac, but it's not really shining here. To me, this is more fresh and aromatic than milky. Starts off with a bitter sharpness and dries to a dusty iris and sandalwood combo. It retains the green element throughout and leans masculine on my skin. I was hoping to get more out of this, but it just isn't doing anything for me. Not something I'd reach for.

I see the resemblance to Comme des Garçons Wonderoud. I might be wrong

A perfect fresh herbal summer scent for when you want something that is not cloying in the heat and not a citrus based cologne. I don't have much experience of the top or middle notes but the opening is a little zingy and masculine leaning, herbal but not really green. It becomes and remains woody and resinous, but light. Doesn't linger on my skin but longevity on clothing is fantastic. I'm just disappointed that I only got the 25ml and would definitely buy a larger bottle for the Summer and Early Autumn months. The customer service with this brand from France is also exceptional and the option to buy without packaging at a lower cost is very welcome. I would consider this a safe blind buy for anyone wanting a change from fruity florals and a different type of Summer fragrance to the usual clean citruses or tropicals (even though this is bordering on citrusy in the opening without having any citrus notes- perhaps this is how artemisia smells, I don't know!).

Smelling this blindly, I get a light start of typically bergamot-led citrus, which soon (minimally) develops into a note of lightly smoked wood. Often this is called guiacwood, but it's really any simple wood note, with added smoke. Now looking at the listed notes, I agree there is a very light aspect of resins that might be fairly ascribed to frankincense (olibanum) and myrrh. There is also a vanillic aspect suggestive of synthetic sandalwood. However, there are NO significant notes of artemisia or orris powder (listed here as iris). It seems this rebellious BoBo Soul refuses to conform to its own note pyramid. In fact, this fragrance is so minimal, perhaps it seeks to reject the concept of fragrance notes entirely. To be fair, Bohemian Soul is mildly pleasant, ... like a faint hint of sweet smoke from a campfire. For such woodsy minimalism, one might at least consider this softly spun, skin-scent cologne as a possible.

Dear Bohemian Soul, We are still at the opening with you here on my arm, but I feel I already know something about you: You are the fragrantification of "longing" in a bottle. A fragrace I would wear when I leave for the long overnight drive at midnight, looking forward to reaching the long long awaited vacation beach camping site at noon. (How amazing is that: Someone else in the comments had an association with going camping. I had not read that when writing the above, that's so wild - so what is it that triggered this?) Update: in the drydown you are a bit disappointing. The uniqueness of the longing-feeling may have had something to do with the much alcohol at first which mixed surprisingly well into the scent as if it were a component here... You have now become a clean skin scent, like a freshly shaved man.

Nice. I agree with most of the reviews here, although I got a distinct "cigarette water" note at the beginning that others have not mentioned. Fleeting but notable. I must be anosmic to something in this blend, or something is off with my sample - this is barely a skin scent on me and it is very faint. I do like it but there's hardly any "soul" to this fragrance. If they were going for ethereal, they were almost too successful. Worth a try in case it holds up better on your skin and it's worth the cost for you.

I see a lot of reviews talking about how great this is but I'm really at a loss here. It dries down to a very familiar sandalwood scent. Guaiac, iris, musk. All that combines to reinforce the creamy, vanillic, and soft-woody elements of sandalwood. There is some spice here, maybe some green from the artemesia, but it's nothing surprising or impactful. On the spectrum of sandalwoods similar to this, I'd say it's less lactonic and a little fresher, but that's about it.

I agree with one of the reviewers below - I also get oranges in the opening! The mix of artemisia and olibanum manifest as orange peel on me. It's a pretty light, citrus / herbal scent on a woody base. I was hoping for a little bit more incense in a fragrance called 'Bohemian soul', the Palo Santo (Guaiac Wood) here is just a supporting player. It's a nice scent but it's not giving me enough to really love it.

One of my favorites from the discovery set. On paper it reminded me of hand soap but on the skin it's more nuanced than that. Nevertheless it's a very clean, citrusy fresh scent that is suitable for everyone year around, although I would wear it more in the summer. Lasting power is very weak and it's not very strong which is why I won't buy a full size.

cheaper alternative to Gypsy Water. the opening is almost identical - but less lemony and more green. as it dries down, it diverges from GW, becoming more powdery from the iris & resinous from the myrrh. i don't like it as much, but for $200 less it's permissible

I enjoy the aroma, but as it dries it turns powdery. It also doesn't seem to project or last. The dicovery set is lovely, but I am discovering that all the Une Nuit Nomade seem to dry to a powdery vaguely feminine clean smell, which is nice but not for me.

My favorite from the discovery set. Completely unisex. Light and smooth. A woodsy summer scent. Would totally be FBW but has no longevity, maybe 2 hours. Sad because it’s a unique and lovely scent.

I tried this scent and it reminded me a lot of my husband's Bvlgari Pour Homme. Same clean masculine woody resinous profile. But I am not so sure...it went away in less than 20 minutes! poof! gone!

A weaker one from this house imho...herbs and woods...also wouldn't classify it in the Oriental category. Edit 4/4/21-it’s now listed as an Amber fragrance I see...thank the Maker.

NO, this is not a dupe for Gypsy Water. This is a masculine scent to my nose and lacks the sweet vanilla you get in GW. The dry down smells alot like Tam Dao edt from Diptyque.

I think they must have put the sample in the wrong bottle. All I smell are heaps of vetiver.
