Murmure des Dieux

Immediate takeoff for... Damn! I missed the plane to... A sunny beach in the Maldives? The beach of "Lovina" in Bali and, opposite the temple of "Taman Ayun"? No big deal... I'm there... it's real! An exotic floral, solar, luminous and spiritual... From the first spray, a "powerful" smell of Ylang flower generous and toned by a zest of bergamot (a zest!). And, in the wake, comes a Monoï smell, "a smell of yellow and sunny frangipani, and of the edge of the beach thanks to Hedione and Ylang." The elemi note brings its "lemony" and resinous touch. This note delicately consolidates the radiant heart note! The base notes are there! They are well structured and balanced, amber, musk, benzoin for the spiritual notes... like the base of a thousand-year-old temple which resists time! And, the very subtle cistus note, here, brings a more carnal note... I love it! ps: the discovery kit is back, a worked graphic presentation, a very nice invitation...

There seems to be a lot of confusion around this scent which explains why the rating is not higher. I ordered a sample from Lucky Scent in 2022 and what I got smells smells exactly like the pyramid shown. The opening is a very light, soft floral that develops more strongly into one of the most shamelessly beautiful and natural fragrances I have ever smelled. I assume my body is warming it and making it stronger, but if you told me the sun was doing this I would believe you despite this cloudy day. Frangipani and hedione and elemi are dizzying in their loveliness and sparkling sweetness. This is sun-drenched warmth with a comfortable breeze on a day so perfect that one believes in a multitude of benevolent gods.

This is probably the only fragrance with Ylang-Ylang that I'd consider wearing at the moment which says a lot because I usually try to avoid it. Maybe it works here because it stays close to the skin and doesn't feel cloying. For some reason I detect a bit of saltiness which is why this feels very fresh. It gives me the impression of lying in a meadow on the first warm day of spring and getting a whiff of the ocean nearby. After reading the reviews below, I'm wondering if this has been reformulated because the notes on the sample card I got from the Une Nuit Nomade website don't mention rice or sesame and I can't detect them in the scent itself. Nevertheless, I am a big fan of this perfume house so far.

I've taken to spraying this on both inner elbows, my clothing and my neck hairline trying to figure out ways to make the scent last longer. Right now I'm getting a little over an hour. Otherwise this is really lovely, absolutely beautiful, and I don't want to fault this beauty because of my dry, perfume absorbing skin. A spicy tropical gourmand is how I would describe this: frangipani takes the driver seat with support from notes I can't distinguish but the end result is lovely. Murmure de Dieux is my first run with this house, but I have six more samples waiting and if this is any indication, I'm really interested to delve further.

For ylang ylang lovers. Exotic, perfect for hot days / Holidays. I can smell bergamot, ylang-ylang, frangipani, vanilla and amber... Warm and sexy. This is a lovely perfume, a very light floral, tropical in nature. I am transported to a beach cabana in the tropics holding a daquiri that has a frangipani blossom tucked in with the straw, and the breeze brings the smell of the water with it's salt tinged airiness, and the sound of laughter and joy of children playing down by the the waves. Surrounding the little tiki bar nearby is a forest of green with lush blooming flowers, and their sweetness is picked up by that breeze and it is peaceful and perfect and sunny and happy. I don't get any incense or spices, just a creamy, watery, soft yellow floral anchored with amber.

I received decants of an old and new Murmure. And it's not even a reformulation, these are totally different fragrances. I find the fact that UNN keeps the same name very confusing. And honestly, I wish they would have kept both versions. New version: the opening is like sweet incense from Indian shops, not smoky ones but pure flowers. After a short while it turns into something from Shalimar Souffle family but more bright and sweet and less animalic (if Souffle is animalic at all). It has a vibe of a Hindu festival - it's fun, loud, kinda colorful like Holi. It's a choir not whisper. Old version: TBA.

I love the previous reviews for this fragrance, they really helped me articulate what I love about it. Murmurs des Dieux is indeed as familiar as walking barefoot, but also magical. The fennel, rice and sesame do indeed make you think of a harvest goddess. I don't know if I smelled something before that is both herbal and creamy. Usually I equate herbal with dusty, and creamy with sweet or vanilla. But this fragrance turned those associations on their heads. Well-blended, smooth, feminine, interesting, unexpected.

I finally got my hands on it today and I must say I did not know what to expect reading the notes. What a nice surprise! Tender, warming as the ray of sunshine, comfy and cosy. On one hand it is as familiar as walking barefoot, on the other hand it is kinda magical. It is a lovely, calm inducing scent. Flowery overall, however as it was said before, the anis note is a light motive from the beginning to the end. Great longevity, stays close to the skin after 3 hours.

What’s going on with this fragrance description? The note pyramid has completely changed, missing the key notes of rice, sesame and fennel which is what makes this fragrance unique. Was there a reformulation? I’ll hold onto my bottle tight. Edit: Yes this was re-formulated in 2017. You can generally discern the reviews between the new and old. The "harvest goddess" vibe of the original is gone, replaced by a likeable but safe tropical scent.

This perfume comes with a blotter with Ganesha deity and the offering from Balinese. And this perfume captures impeccably the smell of the Balinese offering in their religious rituals, so yes, this scent perfectly represents the scent of Bali. It's genius. It's flowery (I think, it's frangipani), and there's rice as well, a bit intoxicating. Nevertheless, it's a good quality perfume, the longevity is good, but the sillage is moderate.

The most memorable fragrance from this house. On one side you have the pretty cream florals such as magnolia, frangipani and the other side herbal and food notes including fennel. sesame, cardamom and rice. The combination is a fragrant, slightly watery but very spicy floral that's unlike anything on the market. I have to politely disagree with the review below: I don't find this a "delicate" frangipani scent at all. If you're here for a creamy sweet yellow floral but don't expect the herb/spicy notes you'll likely be very disappointed. The name, colour, and smell of the perfume together create a very evocative scent story. Murmure des Dieux translates to "Whispers of the Gods" and I bet they are referring to the harvest goddess at autumn, the fragrant haystack, dark fertile soil, produce and vegetables, and wild blossoms blooming on roadsides. Still I don't know what to think of it. I kept getting drawn to the paper strip I tested on, and it smelled of the most beautiful quirky spicy floral when I caught a whiff. But when its presence was constant the fennel note became really overwhelming. This perfume lasts and lasts, and the strip still smells after a week of spraying. This is definitely a head-turner, and with the right chemistry and style Murmure des Dieux can make you the unforgettable encounter.

As a proud owner of 25ml travel size, just a shoutout to those still missing Dior's J'adore In Joy flanker (which I also own): These two are very, _very_ much alike one another - I'd say about 90%. The tropical Bali theme of the Murmur seems to be far, far away from the salty sea breeze of In Joy, but the similarity is there from the first spray. Murmur is a bit more rough, some might even say harsher than In Joy but in high heat it works really well giving a more sophisticated sillage than the usual sunblock, coconut by the pool or the classic citrus take on a summer fume. Murmur is a classy, even work appropriate summer scent. Think of linen shirts, jackets, loafers, the world of the movie The Talented Mr Ripley, Italy, summer... Would very much recommend for summer weddings, some after work gatherings or other occations requiring a cleaned up attire in the summer. When sprayed on clothes last very well even in high heat. I'm quite surprised by the high amount of votes for the frangipani note... to me/on me this is definitely more of a ylangylang, hedione, citrus and musks/resins scent. And a rather mature scent which I say as a compliment.

Something about this fragrance is very fun. Gives the same type of feeling as a bubble-gummy tuberose, but I prefer wearing this over those. There is nothing green, animalic, or overly heady like you get with white florals. Nothing sunscreen; like you get with some other yellow floral fragrances. The opening smells like, bougie big league chewing gum including the powder. The mid and drydown is where the florals shine through beautifully. A solar fragrance, with a creamy drydown on me. There is something a bit magical. I wear it when I want to feel sunny, feminine, and from another dimension. If you like bubble-gummy fragrances and true, natural yellow florals, try this one. It is the best of that genre.

A nice frag from a nice house. Une Nuit a Bali is an underrated house, they keep impressing me with their scents and I hope to see more creations coming in 2017. Murmure de Dieux is a delicate frangipani floral composition complemented by the sweet tonka and vanilla. The magnolia + jasmine notes are sitting in the background to give this scent that white floral deliciousness. In the dry-down I get a sweet coffee note. I consider this to be a more feminine scent although it is classified as unisex. Scent: 7/10 Longevity: 5/10 Sillage: 7/10 Cost ratio: 7/10 Overall: 6.5/10 This fragrance deserved a higher note but because of its modest longevity it is taking a hit on my books.

A pretty and sheer rock candy like ylang ylang rests on a bed of creamy musky frangipani. Together they sink into a milky vanilla popsicle. Murmure des Dieux feels like the epitome of high summer freedom; hot days, long pink evenings and bright blue mornings. It’s sweet but not too sweet, tropical but not cloying fruity, and has white flowers but isn’t indolic. Normally if I saw a note pyramid like this has I’d assume the perfume would be too saccharine for me, but this isn’t. It is shot through with light and air and it projects and lasts longer than usual for something so light - about 8 hours.

Reviewing the new version. Opens with ylang-ylang, and a "barely there" note of lime (not bergamot). The sweet, powdery, flowery note persists - not quite sure how hedione smells, but I don't detect any jasmine. For me, it goes straight into frangipani. Overall, it's pleasant - sweet and creamy, keeping close to the skin. I was hoping for a bit more smokiness in the base. Disappears after about 4 hours.

Slightly smells like clove or narcissus... The color that I ‘see’ is dark blue... Evening type of scent. It is pleasant enough but lacks some “oomph”. It is a calm, fresh and nice smell... but nothing more. PS after a few minutes , frangipani (?) is nice , powdery and delicate.

Murmure des Dieux smells aquatic, so of course I didn't initially love it. It's light and I appreciate that but there is no overcoming overt aquatic notes on my skin (or cards either) because they just always go sideways and smell awful to me. Is this caused by Hedione? I know hedione is supposed to smell like jasmine...so...aquatic/watery jasmine? It smells like aldehydes and the sea to me. It's not my favorite of the house but I can see other people liking it. nfbw for me. For me, this version of Murmure des Dieux is more similar to Dragonfly by Zoologist to me than anything else. - EDIT I believe there are 2 formulations. The first edition smells spicy and floral. The newer edition (I sampled this one from the 2020 official discovery set) smells aquatic.

Olfactive Diary Entry #37 I am greeted by an initial burst of flowery Ylang-ylang and frangipani, that slowly settles into a resinous, incense-reminiscent cloud. I am wondering how much of the components are synthetic because the scent is also evoking memories of sweet-smelling plastic, like a powdery smelling doll. Based on the notes I thought this might be a harsh and strong perfume, but remains soft, warm and sits close to the skin. It is quite unique, yet in some way not unique enough. I was ready to fall in love with it, but it left me wanting more. Or simply something else. Also. It is oily. I sprayed it on my wrist and it instantly became a bit sticky which I am not a fan of.

Received a sample of this from my purchase of another perfume. It reminds me of my mother's old perfumes, like Poeme for instance; not surprising as they both have ylang-ylang in it. It smells good but too bold and too strong to my nose, harsh even. This is supposedly an homage to the frangipani flower which is abundant and common where I live so I probably wouldn't find this scent captivating. I also don't recommend it for summer or when it's hot outside. This perfume is too cloying and warm for it to work in this weather. I probably won't use this again.

smells a lot like L'Artisan Parfumeurs' Safran Troublant - even with no saffron listed in the notes. Like ST, it reminds me of an exotic dessert, like an indian rice pudding flavoured with saffron and cardamom. pretty versatile, both fresh and cozy, and I could see it being worn on a sunny beach day or on a snowy winter night I like this more when I think of it as a gourmand despite it being a floral. so if you're into florals that aren't the typical rose and jasmine schtick, or gourmands that aren't the typical vanilla gourmands, give this bad boy a sniff

Not my favorite from the brand. I love Une Nuit Nomade, but this one is a bit of indolic pee odor when I first sprayed until it dried down. After dry-down I get a much more enjoyable floral with the labdanum really shining through and giving it a nice sweet warmth. Overall not a bad fragrance, but I just want to be able to enjoy the whole life of the perfume, so I wouldn't purchase. I'd recommend this one for Spring or Fall, might be a bit heavy for the Summer. Intimate projection and 5ish hours of longevity on me.

Striking florals with sweet and powdery accords, I feel lots of yellow flowers here as well (mimosa and ylang-ylang). It’s very radiant (and a bit overpowering for me personally). But it also has a bit of strange metallic freshness (maybe it’s elemi?). Follow me on IG: scent.guide

Tropical flowers with greasy popcorn. Not very attractive.

Tropical floral apparently inspired by the Legong dancers of Bali, who traditionally wear frangipani adorned headdresses. When I sampled this in store, I was in love; it was sweet, creamy, beachy and narcotic. Sadly, something unexpected happened when I purchased a full bottle and tried it on at home. A vinegary sour note emerged, dominating the creamy floral that had hooked me. I think the culprit is certainly the resins, namely the labdanum and elemi. I'm not sure why they didn't emerge this way the first time I tried it on skin, but every now and then I give Murmure another go to see if one day it will behave the way it did that first time I tried it on. No luck so far, but still I enjoy having it there on my dresser as something I can spray on whenever I want to be a bit repulsed and mystified. To clarify, I purchased this bottle in July 2023, so the newer version. I wonder if I possibly originally sampled the older one in store. Hmm

Ordered the discovery set from Une Nuit Nomade, and first off, BEAUTIFUL packing, very evocative and artistic, and super fast shipping. <3 Something about this is reminding of me that resinous, sour note that Serge Lutens frequently gives me. It goes incense-y in the base as well. Opens very lightly floral -> goes sour and a little metallic -> and then dries down resinous. Very very soft projection, and low to average longevity.

On my skin its a load of Cardamon, If you like spicy scents - this is the one. On me it gets male'ish. I'd hope the flowers to shine more but on my skin they don't. På mig blir det massor av Kardemumma. Om du gillar kryddiga dofter så är detta en sådan. På mig blir den lite för manlig, vilket jag inte gillar. Jag hoppades på att blomnoterna skulle vara mer tydliga men på min hud är dom inte det.

this starts with citrus notes and florals and it turns a bit bitter at first. i am guessing i mostly get hedione because this smells really synthetic and just light, airy, devoid of many real notes. i get vanilla/amber, but mostly florals with this synthetic thin musk. not for me.

Laughed so hard I dropped my phone into my soup, because this smells just like thai massaman curry. Probably the combination of floral and spicy notes, combined with the rice Quality stuff, though not quite the type of gourmand I prefer... :D

Frangipani is there, yes, but it’s mixed with a sweet laundry smell that makes my stomach turn. I’ll stick to Musicology’s Sun Goddess

Some notes say straight up and down 'Eat me'. Frangipani is one, I compare MdD with Anime Sante (Maria Candida Gentile, notes frangipani, almond milk, sequoia and benzoin), the latter a Swedish pastry called 'princess cake' something I am not so fond of eating but like to smell! Murmure des Dieux, on the other hand, could probably slip down .... Sees that there are a few more notes, this copied from a Swedish page: Top notes: rice, star anise, sesame, fennel, cardamom Heart notes: plumeria, magnolia, jasmine, tonka beans Base notes: fenugreek, musk, incense, vanilla, amber '. Yummy in perfume too. In a few hours, MdD will not be quite as powerful, in my nose more sesame, rice and spices that I associate with a dessert. If this wonderful creation were to sail past me on a man, it would be the finale of that day. Happiness! ( Vissa noter säger rakt upp och ned ' Ät mig '. 🍿 Summer Cinema Under the Stars 🌺 I’m sitting on the beach at an open-air summer cinema. The screen is set up between palm trees, and I’m in a plastic chair with a bucket of popcorn on my lap. Someone nearby has laid out a garland of plumeria flowers. Their white, waxy petals smell intense and sweet, like a perfume that cannot be washed away. Ylang-ylang from nearby bushes mixes with sea salt and the dampness of the evening air. The film begins, and I breathe in air full of flowers. Warm, creamy, slightly suffocating. But at a certain moment, I sense something else. The bucket on my lap. Buttery, sweet popcorn rises upward. Lightly caramelized. And suddenly everything changes. The flowers mix with that butter, with the warmth of popcorn, with vanilla from the base notes. Benzoin makes the scent sticky. Like popcorn-stained fingers that cannot be wiped clean. Everyone around me talks about plumeria and ylang-ylang, about tropical flowers. I smell something different. Buttery popcorn. Creamy, sweet, unmistakable. It is not listed in the notes, but it is there on my skin. As bright as a neon sign above the snack stand. @the.scent.files

Deep, concentrated floral with a hint of zingy citrus, grounded in a light amber. I wouldn’t call this fragrance “round” and it’s not “pretty” - it’s bold and rich. The dry-down is slightly fru-fru but the then-faded bergamot tries to reign it in - not sure if it does so successfully. It has a slightly funky note in the opening, which works quite well but also adds to the "perfumey" datedness of this fragrance. Not for me but it would be nice for someone into more heavy florals. Apart from all the lovely notes listed, which give a nice tropical breeze, I also get some spices, and a wafery biscuit smell. Somewhat grainy even. I like it, even though this scent profile has never really been on my buy radar, I find creamy florals too indolic for summer. This however isn't really indolic or choking, there is a freshness to it but still creamy in a way tuberose can be and in my opinion still quite a bit more rich than I like them in the summer.

Interstate rest stop, washing your hands with that pearlescent pink lotion soap, getting the very last of it out of a nearly empty dispenser. Hot day, ringlets stuck to the back of your neck. Your best friend's sweating through her sunblock waiting for you in the parking lot. She watches for you coming out of the bathroom through her rearview mirror, upon which she's hung a jasmine Little Trees. Murmure des Dieux is a harbinger of good weekends to come.

Lovely smell, flowery as it promises, not sweet at all which makes it a great choice for summer, light for every nose and as it dries it leaves behind a slight chestnut hint and frangipani. Unfortunately this perfume hasn't got any projection and doesn't last longer than one hour... I am glad I could buy the sample first as I wouldn't spend £145 for a bottle...it makes me sad how some perfumes smell so good but their longevity is so poor...

Testing from a 2021 discovery set. Nothing aquatic at all on my skin. Flowers, resins, and a hint of vanilla. For me it's even not so much about frangipani, but about ylang. The real ylang flowers, and the rustic handmade ylang massage oil one can buy on the plantations. It has that real life roughness that I rarely find in ylang centered perfumes, and that makes those greenish yellow flowers almost tangible for me.

I love it,on me it starts kind of peppery with strong anis and rice and I notice the cardamom and fennel to, it dries down to a lovely soft frangipani amber musc. The anis is in the background the whole time through the drydown. Moderate sillage and great longevity. It's quite cold in Sweden right now so I don't know how it will perform or smell in warm weather.

Starts with soft florals, but as soon as it dries down I can smell something similar to caraway seeds. In fact, all I can smell is caraway, coriander seeds, and licorice for some weird reason. It reminds me of malt bread with sprinkles of spice on it. I believe it is amber. The base is very ambery, quite harsh for my nose. Not a fan

Ylang ylang dominant fragrance. Reminds me of Organza. If someone is not familiar with ylang ylang, they'd probably get shampoo vibes. I do get a bit of aquatic as other reviewers mentioned. I like aquatic but its maybe too indistinct and light to be a full bottle purchase for me.

I am a huge fan of frangipani and hedione - got neither from this fragrance. Nor any of the other spicy notes. Sorry to say It seemed like a very uneventful Scent. There are other florals I prefer so will probably stick with those. BUT...I do want to try others from this house!

Frangipani light as a sunbeam, a whisper, a delight. Forget the loud creamy and heavy flowers. Here you’ll find something else, a secret, a thin path to a very strange kind of peace. The way to a place where words smell what they are: a sweet wind. Un murmure des dieux?

This unfortunately has been totally changed, no longer the same fragrance, confusingly as there is hardly any resemblance between the old Murmure and the new, so please be careful which one you buy.

Citrusy candied florals. Makes me think of short sun dresses, worn with a head band and white sunglasses... enjoying lemonade with crystallized floral candies. Simple and safe.

Mainly Monoïflowers, Y-lang Y-lang and a not too sweet creamy vanilla, dry powderiness. Nice for the summer, it’s a not too heady dreamy Yoga-scent cloud

Floral & Frangipani... So freshly made and quite captivating as a floral scent. Quite soft and simple, strong with strength. Superbly amazing.
