Suma Oriental

I ordered the complete Une Nuit à Bali sample set and to be honest this Suma Oriental was one of two I expected not to be 'my cup of tea'. I'm not a big fan of patchouli or rum and in most cases unisex perfumes turn out to be too masculine for me. So when I tested it the first time I just tried one small spray fearing that based upon the notes it would be an instant dislike. This one really took me by surprise! The patchouli is soft and the perfume is very creamy, no harsh woods or strong earthiness. I get a lot of creamy tonka and cacao and little patchouli, the rum note quickly fades which is a good thing IMO. It's also not overly sweet but just the right amount of sweetness and chocolate. Sillage is only heavy the first 30' than it is moderate, on my clothes the perfume is long lasting 12+ hours but on my skin it lasts for 5 to 6 hours. I have been wearing my sample for 2 days and I love it so much I'm getting a 50ml bottle.

" Dark Chocolate Liquor " My second sample in the Une nuit Nomade sample pack, Suma Oriental, draws a warm and cozy smile to my face. It opens up with sweet rum - due to the presence of a boozy accord, Cacao and tonka - and quickly settles down to a warm amber feel. The Patchouli accompanies the journey from start to finish, most prominently at the beginning, but continues to linger till the end giving the fragrance a woodsy kick and steering it from the overly sweet path making it very well-blended. Suma Oriental reminds of L'Instant de Guerlain - because of its spicy cacao - and also of Vanille Havane by Les Indémodables because of the sweet-tobacco. I find the Chocolate Liquor analogy very suiting, especially at first. Not greatly unique but very agreeable to wear, this fragrance shines in cooler weather, casual or formal. Radiates extremely well and lasts a long time. 7/10

This is gorgeous - to me this fragrance is exactly the warm embrace of hot sun on skin. I can’t explain why but that’s what I see/feel, along with the colour burnt orange. It’s sweet in the most hypnotic and inviting way. This one makes me feel confident, powerful and alluring. It has personality and presence but is not overwhelming- and if you don’t overspray could be worn in an office. It’s distinctive which is why it will either feel like “you” or it won’t. It could easily have become my signature scent... if it didn’t give me a migraine. I tested it a few times hoping that it was just a coincidence, but sadly I just can’t wear it. If patchouli doesn’t trigger you, worth sampling.

Too much cypriol oil on top for my taste, but after an hour it gets much better and the drydown is a gourmand bliss: cacao and tonka bean, soft wood and round sweetness. Composition does not remind me of Bali at all, but it is lovely nevertheless. Lasting power is over 12 hours, much longer than the other ones from the line. There are 25 ml vials of the perfumes available, which is very handy both for sampling and for travel. I've got several of those from Une Nuit Nomade after the sample kit was used up. Suma oriental, Jardines de Misfah - perfect honeyed floral, Sun bleached - airing clothes washed with a fancy softener and Nothing like sea and sky - a breath of fresh, clean air.

This is a perfect cacao dusted patchouli. I absolutely love this fragrance and it was love at first sniff. I've been wearing my sample over the course of a few days and my love has only increased. I smell cacao, patchouli, and sandalwood as the most prominent notes. This is sweet, but is not a gourmand bomb. I personally think the blend of patchouli to other note is absolutely perfect, but keep in mind, I am a lover of patchouli. This is a perfectly cacao sweetened patchouli with a sweet sandalwood base. I say all that, but this is not too sweet. It is warm and enveloping. I ordered a full bottle the day I first smelled my sample. This juice is a beautiful oriental fragrance.

This is a fabulous perfume that I discovered in a little perfume shop last night while vacationing in Seoul. I'd never heard of the brand before but I figured it might be good considering the selection of perfumes in the shop. Suma Oriental has got patchouli, sandalwood, cashmere wood and tonka bean although from the start I thought I also smelled cigar tobacco too. A half an hour later a warmth emerges bringing forth the smell of spicy rum and cacoa for a deep, dark, boozy sweetness. It's got medium silage and stays strong even at 8-10 hours. This is a unisex fragrance that is warm, fuzzy, comforting, and sexy. Absolutely gorgeous!

I was a little worried when I saw the note breakdown but I'm absolutely loving this one from my sample set. Booze and cocoa seem to be a trend in perfume, but this is exquisite. I'm trying to narrow down why, but I think I'm going to have to buy a 50 ml and get back to you. Could be the Cypriol oil as I'm not familiar with it. I may never know, but no matter. It's perfection. Suma Oriental lasted more than 6 hours before turning to a skin scent and I'm betting this performs even better in cold weather (it was 80 degrees in Seattle yesterday). It's a sexy oriental bomb. So happy to have discovered this underrated house.

I got the Discovery set from Une Nuit Nomade and the presentation of these samples is so cute and useful: each comes in its little box with a beautiful illustration AND its own paper on which to first spray the scent. For me, Suma Oriental stands out for its beautiful Tonka note: it's well supported by a little sweetness (maybe the cacao but I coudn't say) and the santal and patchouli enhance it . It has moderate to good longevity which unfortunately I get with a lot of perfumes, but it's quite acceptable, unlike many others. Still trying the sample, but I could see a full size coming.

Gosh this is delish. A big load of patch, booze and chocolate. It's sweet on the opening and then settles down to not quite so sweet, tonka, boozy patchouli. I can pick out the cashmere and other wood notes at the back that prevent this becoming overwhelming with patch. The cashmere adds a dry quality. My skin seems to amplify the nagermotha further down the timeline. Very unisex and almost gourmand. If you love patch then well worth testing. It doesn't really alter very much from then on. Good longevity and sillage. I'm going to save this one for chilly days. It's very comforting.

The first thing that came up to me unmistakably is the boozy aspect of rum. So starting from the start this feels like an intoxicating liquor. Then patchouli gives the earthy vibes, giving a sense of a rich soil and at the same time sensual. The base is woody, with patchouli dancing in the background. The longevity and silage is above average. I got noticed and compliments. However this is not a safe blindbuy. You've got to appreciate liquor to actually enjoy this. It is within the same genre as Replica Jazz Club, but this one is heavier and more refined.

I definitely get the YSL M7 comparison. Boozy, chocolaty, oriental spicy, vanilla that is very uniquely blended, very erotic. For me it is hard to pick out the individual notes, which is a positive because I don't like them as single notes. It is in my top 4 of the entire line, slightly ahead of Jardins de Misfah, Sun Bleached, and Bohemian Soul. I'd highly recommend to get the discovery box to get to know them all. I think anyone who enjoys fragrances will enjoy the journey and would have some great fun to trying them out.

Oh where to start . I bought this like a blind buy and in my heart I knew I will love it . And I was right . So powerful and it takes me somewhere where I never been. This perfume gives me such a good energy and feel happy wear it and already people give me so many compliments when i wear this perfume . Its so powerful and the silage ...omg my colleague at work knows im at work because when they enter in the building they know its me . I'm so happy to have this perfume this masterpiece I can call it . Love love love

Patchouli morbido, levigato, soave. Si distinguono tutte le note, in buona sintonia. Patchouli avvolto da fava tonka, dolce e moderatamente mandorlata; muschi tropicali, accenni di cacao, legno di sandalo, gocce di rum. Piacevolissimo patchouli cremoso di ottima qualità. Evoca paradisi tropicali, incutendo sensazioni di calma serenità. Armonizzante, aiuta a pensare. Molto "deixa a vida me levar...". Bello.

I wasn’t able to put down my sample sheet for 10 minutes... Immediately, I was addicted to the cacao in this one. Going in, I was expecting a gourmand (of which I am not a fan), only to be hit with an intense aroma of vivid jungle. There’s just something about this one that makes me obsessed. Definitely a sultry, unisex evening scent for me

Opening is bitter almond (or marzipan), with soft powdery velvety notes. And that opening almost doesn't develop at all! Just got closer to skin and warmer. Sound very similar to Esteban Oriental spice I use to have, or UERMI Kanabo I use now.

This opens a just a hint medicinal, but that diminishes quickly. Then I get soft, slightly powdery incense and dry cocoa. This is super comforting and cozy. The patchouli goes incense-y, not weird hippie or chocolate. I love this one.

Discovered this by CurlyFragrance. A beautiful masterpiece. I love it. It dries down on my skin to a very pleasant vanila. Longevity is very very good. Could be more maskuline imho, but just a beautiful scent I very much enjoy it.

10/10 scent In the opening like dirst 30 seconds to a minute i get a kind off oud smell which I like. Its just weird that there is no oud note

Dark rum with cacao sweetness (and patchouli) - make sure you like booze in your fragrance if you go for Suma Oriental. Love for me.

Very similar with Pardon from Nasomatto. This one has more cocoa powder plus the booze from the rum. I prefer this one over Pardon.
