Sun Bleached

After my initial spray when the solvent dissipated and the fresh, musked, and slightly warm spice notes came out, my first thought was “I recognize this”. I could not put my finger on it, so I just closed my eyes and kept sniffing. I was suddenly transported to the washing room in father’s bayside house and then it hit me: this smells like vintage Barbasol shaving cream foam! And that’s not an insult. There is a reason Barbasol has lasted through the ages. When I was little I used to always sneak a spray of my father’s Barbasol on my hand because I loved the fresh but spiced smell and the soft cream on my skin. My father is sadly no longer here, so this scent experience was personally a welcome one. Sun Bleached is absolutely unisex — it is fresh, musky and spiced with a soft and creamy version in the dry down — but I think it would be charmingly fresh on a man. If a man wore this and walked by me I would for sure turn my head, obviously because of my personal association, but also because of the practical, clean but pleasantly spiced vintage nod of the fragrance.

This one has grown on me, after initially finding it a bit dull, I'm now enjoying how comforting and stress relieving it can be and reaching for it more often than I'd expected to! I love clean scents in general, and am always a sucker for a good laundry scent, and this one is really well done - a pile of clean laundry dried by the sun, exactly as the name describes. I probably wouldn't upgrade to a full size after finishing my 25 ml, as it doesn't beat Byredo's Blanche as my all time favorite clean scent, but - I'll enjoy the remainder of time with the travel size and see whether my feelings for it become deeper. I love the aldehydes in Blanche and love the musky-powderiness of Sun Bleached. For now, a really enjoyable, easy to wear, great for everyday choice. Performance is moderate.

opening: powdery, warm soap. actually, a wonderful choice of name. idk if there’s actually soap in this or if my nose is playing games, but i smell a dove soap bar. and it’s fleeting, not overwhelming. i would say the scent is quite simple; it doesn’t change much throughout the wear. when i first smelled it, i thought there was something wrong with it; something in it made me feel sick. it’s not there anymore, though, and it has grown on me quite a bit. i would expect CdG to make something like this; i didn’t expect it from une nuit nomade. the most disappointing thing about this is the performance. it doesn’t last long. it does project surprisingly well for the duration of the wear, but it doesn’t last that long to begin with.

Often times, most fragrance houses offer a dumb-reach in their lineup. Sun Bleached is Un Nuit’s interpretation of an easy to wear/every day fragrance. Clean and smooth but intriguing at the same time. I usually don’t care for easy to wear scents, but Sun Bleached has persuaded me into getting a full bottle. I would pair this with a more daring outfit to counter the subtlety of the aroma. If you like musky fragrances, give this chance; this gives off a multi musk experience with hints of creamy floral tones from the sandalwood and white flowers. Spring mornings in a bottle.

This is very nice! It definitely smells reminiscent of freshly laundered linen that you just brought in after hang drying it in the sun. Solar musks and cotton accord are the main impressions. Clean, fresh, mass appealing. It’s quite airy and consequently really sings in the warmer months, but there are light vanillic/ambery facets in the drydown that make it applicable for any season. I wish it projected a little more, it sticks very close to the skin after the first 30 minutes or so. Lasts as a skin scent for most of the day, however!
