c 5 – Cédrat Myrte Immortelle

I found this the best of the line. Green fresh natural yet complex

Uplifting summery Cedrat fragrance with a prominent sea note that borders just on the right side of becoming too naturalistic seaweed sea like... but just barely. Which is enough to move you to the sea. But not so close it becomes too naturalistic. It’s thankfully not marine in a calone or very blue sense of the marine like accord. But the sea note is situated in the middle and flanked by the immortelle and the fig that both pull towards the greener side of the spectrum and then supported again by musk and a little bit of the patchouli in the base which is of the more green and earthy variety making this a scent that truly captures the feeling of nice slightly cooling breeze on a hot summer day somewhere on the Mediterranean coastline. The grapefruit is there to keep the composition uplifting. But the citrus is more fleeting and becomes as the fragrance sets more like a little sprinkle on top that keeps the overall expression form ever becoming sweet or cloying. It is a very clean freshie with a sincere Mediterranean vibe without feeling to aquatic and more seashore of that makes sense. Overall a nice and very unisex fragrance that I find comes to its best life on warm summer days and no frills evenings when you just want something nice and easy. I don’t find this in any way resembling Le Labo Bergamote 22 which is all about the fresh squeezed bergamotte and an ever so slightly wood ambery base to just keep you from taking flight with that one... Bergamote 22 is in my opinion one of the greatest citrus forward fragrances on the market. It’s sadly like most truly citrus fragrances quite fleeting. But that one doesn’t have any sea note which makes a huge difference. C5 is however something to look up if you want a marine leaning summer fragrance that neither leans too heavily on the sea salty side of things nor on the very blue calone leaning very aquatic direction. But is more balanced in the middle. For those who are thorough you can sort of detect that the sea note is leaning a bit synthetic. But the way it is unified with the overall expression I don’t mind that detail here, It is in no way the same but it does remind me of Sous le pond de Paris by ELDO. Maybe there is something similar with the aquatic sea note that makes me feel that way? Interesting new house well worth looking into... I get about 3-5 hours of solid wear with moderate projection during the first hours and then a more intimate sillage.
