New Jersey

New Jersey is a unique gourmand. The popcorn note is very prominent in the beginning. It's a true, yummy and salty popcorn note. Miss Dior Cherie is my all time favorite and that fragrance supposedly has caramel popcorn in it. I've never been able to smell anything but a refined, buttery undertone in Cherie. New Jersey's popcorn note however, is unmistakable. Next I get caramel, cotton candy and very soft coconut. The coconut is perfect. It's not in-your-face at all but rather hangs to back and builds on the sweet caramel. The best and most surprising thing is the patchouli. I'm not a huge patchouli lover but I wear a lot of perfumes with patchouli notes. A soft and earthy patchouli seems to really have a knack for bringing over-the-top sweetness back down to earth. The patchouli in New Jersey is very clean; you might not even notice it but it gives the base a deep and wonderful edge. Without it, New Jersey would just be another sickeningly sweet sugar bomb. I think I'm seeing a combination that I love in quite a few fragrances - patchouli and caramel. Yum. The peach and vanilla are ever so faint but they round the scent out nicely. This fragrance starts out smelling like a carnival or a day at the state fair. As the notes settle in to each other, what you are left with is a very pretty and original gourmand. New Jersey is a summer day on a boardwalk, sunshine, fun and carefree youth. I will definitely be wearing this to the beach this summer! UPDATE: I am officially hooked! New Jersey is just gorgeous. I've been wearing it for the last week and I adore this stuff. The longevity is excellent and the fragrance moves beautifully through every note, ending in an addictive vanilla musk that I can't pull my nose away from. Love!

I just received a full bottle of this in the mail and I am thrilled with it. The opening is a blast of caramel popcorn, very true to the real thing, supported by cotton candy and vanilla. I can't pick out much coconut or peach, and ZERO patchouli, but I don't doubt they're there, just working in the background. Before long, New Jersey settles down to a sweet cotton candy musk, not at all synthetic or cheap smelling, with a whisper of caramel popcorn lingering on the periphery. For me, this is one of those can't-stop-sniffing-it perfumes. When I wear it, I find myself sniffing my wrists constantly. Unfortunately the sillage and staying power are not what I'd like them to be; it's very close to my skin by the 3rd hour and almost completely gone by the 4th. Still, I don't regret this purchase. New Jersey is a gem for gourmand lovers.

I am not a gal who wants my fragrances to tell me stories. I appreciate a scent that is very straightforward, and New Jersey is exactly what you would expect based on its list of notes. There is no morphing, there are no real changes (beyond what is expected, of course) as the day goes on, and while that may be a negative for some, it is a positive for me. I appreciate this scent and will have to order another bottle soon as mine is getting dangerously low. Caramel popcorn, sweet cotton candy musk as I stated in an earlier review. I really do adore this.

I get a soft and mellow burst of sweet and buttery caramel popcorn, after a few minutes the drydown begins to smell like a cozy cotton candy somewhat similar to Pink sugar! this is a funfair in a bottle! this scent makes me feel like a kid again :')

Walking through the fair grounds on a cold, damp day. Immediately upon spray I smell caramel corn flooding my senses and a spike of freshly spun sugar. A fleecy warm coconut pressing softly against the loud blare of festive smells. Setting the tone, New Jersey never really loses it's circus fair flair. The buttery popcorn note in here reminds me of popcorn jelly belly jelly beans. Sweet and artificial, like cheap sweet popcorn. By the time we get to the dry down it is almost in the same neighborhood as miss dior cherie 2005, only way less fruity. You get a prickle of peach that is gummied. Vanilla musk and patchouli lay a little love into the strong foody notes making this perfume smell more like something people think you meant to put on. This is a food fragrance that is NOT for the weak hearted. It's probably 70% caramel popcorn and 30% other notes. New Jersey is bold, loud, and unusual. With new jersey prepare to make a statement. Enjoy your ticket to the carnival for one on a damp and dreary day.
