Poems One Through Twelve

This scent has quickly become one of my favorites. It's dethroned all the other ginger perfumes I've tried. In the opening, the ginger leans more candied than freshly-peeled -- predominantly spicy but with some crystallized sugar at the edges. But then, as it dries down, it transforms into a home-brewed mug of ginger tea. It almost radiates real heat. The effect is a deep calmness, and a sense of being on the other side of the hustle and bustle of daily life. It's a feeling that takes me back to being a kid, on the last day of a bad cold. Like, you don't feel awful anymore, but you still don't feel well enough to go to school. So, you get to lie in bed as long as you want, and drift off to sleep, or read, or daydream, while your strength slowly returns. That's the liminal space that Poems One Through Twelve taps into. The world outside your bedroom keeps on spinning, but here, just for today, you get to stay perfectly still.

this is the winner for me. out of the thirteen testers I got from Universal Flowering's discovery set, this is the one I would buy a full size of. it's just so good. very ginger forward, but then it melts with the condensed milk to create such a simple but incredibly unique milky fragrance. this is the type of perfume that is unique without having to be campy, it's just a delicious smell that no one has made before, and stands out so well that I would LOVE having it as my signature scent (especially it being so niche, no one will smell like I smell!). I would wear this year round, day and night, probably minus the summer when it's scorching hot I would opt for something else. someone else mentioned white rabbit candy and I can totally see it, that is such a nostalgic candy from my childhood that it just makes it all the more special. this is the absolute winner for me!!!

candied ginger, bitter bergamote/lime peel, something floral, smoked woods (?) this is my mind playing tricks on me but i also get tumeric for some reason, maybe bc i drink ginger + tumeric when i'm sick and it's the flu season. there's an antique shop vibe to this, it's actually very original, imagine walking to a really old antique shop that happens to be in proximity of a spice shop. i like the ginger kick, i like that it's not too sweet and doesn't go into a ginger biscuit direction, it's not a try too hard fragrance. this is a scent that u can just throw on without having to be in the mood for or mentally prepare for u know? after a few minutes surprisingly starting to get something fleshy, something like coconut flesh that's not too powdery/sweet, but adds a touch of silkiness. i actually like it, it's well-rounded but still has character.

smells like a sweet brioche loaf soaked in almond liqueur, like hot milk with spices; sultry with candied-sweet crystalline ginger and milky in a way that’s both sensual and biblically innocent. usually i can’t stand vetiver, but this seems to be an exception. similarly to heliotrope milkbath, there’s something about this fragrance that conjures an image of a sexy middle-aged woman; in this case, an english teacher fighting for her life selling vanilla almond fairy cupcakes at the community bake sale, sweating a little bit, frazzled and gorgeous in a lilac cashmere sweater. there’s an almost marshmallowy quality to the fragrance too, the lactonic, nostalgic sweetness of melting pastel gelatin and gooey burnt sugar. sweet, warm, sensuous, harbouring the sweet almond poison of an apricot kernel in its centre.

ugh...delicious. the more time i spend with this, the more i appreciate it -- i was honestly underwhelmed at first but she's more interesting than she initially lets on imo. fresh spicy ginger and condensed milk that reads almost like horchata to me. all the notes blend so beautifully at the mid point of the dry down; some people have mentioned the resinous funk from the opoponax being too much but i do NOT share that opinion lol i think it's absolutely gorgeous with the woody, earthy, papery vetiver. i have a hard time with overly sweet perfume and i think this is a perfect middle ground for me. definitely sweet and lactonic but the vetiver airs it out. i agree that this is great for fall/winter but i'm honestly so excited to wear it in summer, i wanna smell like a hot and sticky baked good.

This perfume is soooo nice....The ginger isnt too sharp or spicy its just the smell of peeled ginger very photorealistic. The condensed milk comes through more the longer Poems 1-12 sits on my skin, I think during the initial spray the heaviness/thickness of condensed milk doesnt come though as much but u still get its sweetness and milkiness. Vetiver I feel like when it's used kind of heavy-handedly it gives like a fart smell but here it doesn't at all LOLOL it helps with like rounding the fragrance out if that makes sense. Like it makes it a bit softer on the nose. IDK much about how opoponax smells so IDK how to identify it here, but yea I've been looking for a fall fragrance to buy and I think this might b it <3 It's sweet bright and thick rlly interesting and good !

a shockingly successful blind buy. my new cold weather signature. soft, comforting, lingering, but also electric, sweet and sensual. it's a zingy candied ginger with dry and crackly vetiver. the condensed milk note is warm and silky and becomes more noticeable in the drydown. it has amazing longevity on skin, clothes, and hair, ~12 hours. It reminds me of leaning close to your friend to talk in their ear in a dimly lit, loud and buzzing bar; of faux fur throws and hot cups of milk tea. it's like the static that builds underneath a thick blanket that shocks you when you shift. equal parts soothing and exciting. it's perfect for me and i'm obsessed. So beautiful. i want a candle, a hand cream, a body oil- literally EVERYTHING in this scent.

this lovely little scent took me by surprise... it's fairly straightforward but there's a certain magic inside that you just have to wear to believe. the invigorating ginger opening is quickly diluted by the condensed milk, which gives it a sort of ginger candy vibe... idk if anyone has had the gin gins super strength ginger candies but they are spicy and sweet and also melt in your mouth after a few minutes. that's exactly what this scent reminds me of !!! and it dries down sooo beautifully; the contrasting dryness of the vetiver and syrupy resin of the opoponax becomes the most endearing musky skin scent. it's very precious and comforting and really is that girl. absolute cuteness in a bottle ♡

Another blind buy! I’d been wanting a fragrance from this house foreverrrr and finally bit the bullet. I’m glad I settled on this fragrance. The initial spray was that of fresh cut ginger and something slightly powdery. It quickly settled into something that smelled like sweetened ginger milk. I’m now on hour three of wearing it and it’s settled into something slightly more earthy. The vetiver is now more prevalent. I truly feel that this could be worn in most seasons if you’re someone that likes something one part herbal, one part sweet and powdery. There’s definitely something about this that does remind me of Yesterday Haze by Imaginary Authors which is another beautiful fragrance.

This is a great, sweet, non-vanilla gourmand. The ginger is very bright in the opening, but steeps into a warm, ginger milk tea scent on the skin. After a few hours, the ginger fades, leaving you with just the lactonic quality of the fragrance. This perfume feels like a warm blanket - velvety and smooth. It lasted on the skin for about 6 hours. It doesn't come across as overly artificial to me. I would say the vetiver and opoponax bring an earthier, wool or paper-like base, which helps this perfume evolve into a comforting skin-like scent as it wears.

Oh this is beautiful?! I have this weird thing where ginger doesn't smell great with my skin, but I love ginger so much that I forgive her for that. First impression is gem gem ginger chews - those very spicy chewy candies with the sugar/starch white powder on the outside. Condensed milk didn't come across as distinctly lactonic as I expected, which ended up working well with the medicinal resins that round this scent out. Very warm and thick, again bringing us back to those chewy candies that get stuck in your teeth. So excited to explore more UF!

Sultry. Bohemian. One could wear this to the library archives, the cigar lounge and the disco! Delectably blended crystallized ginger and condensed milk make this cozy and approachable. At the same time, opoponax and vetiver keep this resinous, dry and oh-so-slightly aromatic; ultimately imparting an old-school, worldly air. I can almost hear Diana Ross playing in the background, her voice all breathy and smooth: "If there's a cure for this, I don't want it".

i feel sooooo sexy in this, like i have with lots of universal flowering's offerings. the spicy-sweet combination of the ginger and the condensed milk is never overbearing or too sweet but instead a cosy sort of sexy. one for the femmes. seriously considering buying 15mil of this one... i just tried it on again and the thought of it going away forever was heartbreaking.

Poems One Through Twelve, Saffron Flour, and Heliotrope Milkbath are three powdery sisters. This one is eldest and the warmest of the three. She really shines in autumn, when she gets to make her signature ginger snaps. She’s tall and confident, can be a little stern and sardonic though. She gets turned on by debating philosophy in dimly lit, incense-filled rooms.

Universal Flowering never seems to miss. This one reminds me of cream soda a little bit. The sharpness of the ginger note can give the illusion of carbonation and the condensed milk is creamy without being cloying, not super sweet. I just love everything this perfume house does. The scents are always nostalgic and intriguing.

A favourite of mine, Poems One Through Twelve is peppery and sweet, with a saliva-like quality that makes me imagine a ginger candy rolling around in a milk-fed mouth. Like a lament or an aftertaste, that salivic piquancy haunts the wearer into the perfume's final hours when it crumbles into powdered epitaph.

An incredible fragrance. Starts off with a lactonic, well-balanced ginger, and dries down into an addictively creamy vetiver. I can’t stop smelling my wrist when I have this on! I purchased the 15ml bottle and will definitely be repurchasing the larger bottle when that is done.

fresh ginger note is extremely strong in the the first 20-30 minutes then settles down to more of a candied scent. less lactonic that I would have liked but the condensed milk note is a beautiful layer to it. more of a day time perfume. an essential in my spring rotation!!

I love this scent. The ginger and condensed milk really come through--sweetly-soft like a longing for something that never existed. The vetiver is dry and crackling, an electric desert storm before the rain falls. Present in a daydream, beautiful.

smells like a sunlit corner in your dusty library (soft worn wooden chairs, old paper, a sweater from someone you love). i don't really get fresh ginger, but a spicy warmth that pairs well with the wood/resin. Powdery but not too dry or floral.

Opening on paper comes off as dusty, like opening the door of a room that hasn’t been inhabited in years. Then it settles into a creamy vetiver. It is more dazzling on skin, where it blooms as a mouth-watering woody gourmand.

Sexy, spicy, sumptuous, powdery, velvety. Every note is distinct but blended beautifully. Wear in a dark corner of a bar while talking closely with a beautiful stranger.

This is ginger milk tea if milk tea wore a cashmere sweater. If gingerbread went to therapy. There’s something disarmingly gentle about it, the kind of scent that doesn’t arrive so much as it settles in, curls up beside you, and hums a lullaby in the key of lactose and lull. From the very first spritz, there’s that familiar “candle” aura, softly perfumed in a way that doesn’t quite convince me it was ever meant for skin. But I forgive it. I do. Because it feels good. Like being wrapped in a blanket that smells like the memory of that creamy sweet treat down the road. The ginger, though, I wanted more from it! More bite, and more zip, oh that would have been perfect. Instead, it’s sugared and mellowed to the point of plushness. A powdered, pastel version of itself. Think ginger chews rolled in syrup rather than a freshly grated root sizzling in a pan. The condensed milk note appears round and subtly fatty, like warm steamed milk just before it scalds. Undeniable coziness! It does have some level of sweetness and mushiness that makes the scent a tad cheap-smelling, yes, but only in the way dollar-store vanilla lip balms used to make you feel like the fanciest girl in class. There’s a nostalgic comfort in its synthetic edges, a sort of winter-drink innocence that never tries to be haute. And maybe that’s its charm. Sweetened milk breath and the faintest spicy whisper. Who wouldn't like to wear chai to bed? TLDR Aroma therapy by way of dessert. A poem I'd keep on my tongue everyday, one through twelve

A saucy lullaby. The kind of scent you want to nuzzle into. Like curling naked between the folds of a warm duvet. However, the ginger keeps her from reading too slumbery and the vetiver adds a dry, almost electric hum. Soft-spoken, but with biting wit. Reminds me a bit of Stora Skuggan’s Moonmilk, only sweeter and milkier. Moonmilk is the kind of horchata you’d find in a wabi sabi wellness compound. POTT is the kind of horchata you’d find in a “light academia” aesthetic collage. I can catch the candle wax others have mentioned – pearly, tallowy, with a ghost of smoke. The perfect fragrance for indulgent nights in, all in the name of self-care. Wears delicately, but I still could catch a whisper of her on my pyjamas days later. Mental Snapshot: A nest of rumpled silk atop a brass-framed canopy bed, illuminated by tealight. You’re bedding down for the night, only to diary secrets until daybreak. Or feigning sleep, while your lover draws you like one of their French girls. tl;dr: eiderdown spice 🕯️🥛

To me, an almost waxen milky opening note, and like most of the Universal Flowering scents I've had the pleasure of trying, kind of clean and soap-y. The opening milk note almost reads close to coconut to me, it's so thick. It’s not my cup of tea when first sprayed. I don’t hate it! It’s just not my preference. I appreciate it but I don’t like it that much. But when it dries down I start to really like it. It’s still clean but it gets a little less so, losing some of the quality that reads as soap-ish to me. (It is a very nice soap though.) It’s not strictly for me but I find the drydown so intoxicating and delicious. The sweetness is beautiful, almost glittering, and I get this pleasant and yummy little scratch of musk and dryness. Overall I think it’s a beautiful and well-blended scent, and while I don’t think it suits me enough for a full bottle, I’ve found myself reaching for my sample when I’m craving something clean, pleasant, and sweet.

this most definitely performs the best on my skin >> clothing. ginger and vetiver come in super strong for me at first, and then as it settles the ginger kind of bubbles into smth light and milky sweet but still very much woody. wish it projected a little more BUT i also know the resin in here could kill someone next to me so maybe that's for the best. layered it with shea butter too and THAT is a combo !! she reminds me of a gentle giant shacked up in the middle of the woods moving about their rustic apothecary. very soothing vibes from this!

This is gorgeous, if a little simple. Has a kind of "candle scent" quality to it - but a very warm, relaxing candle I would love to own. I wore this to work and it lasted all day and got plenty of compliments. It felt like an aura of sweet, soft ginger around me. I don't find it particularly unique or complex and the candle-ness of it makes it feel a bit artificial - dare I say, cheap - but I think this could layer well and it's lovely for an inoffensive, everyday scent that feels warm and inviting.

Sweet, creamy vetiver-- extremely similar to Fat Electrician from ELdO, but a bit more rounded and soft. The ginger & condensed milk combo almost gives a coconutty vibe IMO. I thankfully don't get anything candied here, more of a creamy, lactonic sweetness. Someone else mentioned gingersnaps dunked in milk, which feels very accurate, plus earthy, woody vetiver. I like this quite a bit, but think it would get a little cloying with extended wear. More femme-leaning but still unisex.

a unique candied ginger scent, which instantly reminded me of the sweets i ate growing up and of the ginger syrup in the vietnamese dessert che troi nuoc. i didn't get very much condensed milk, it's really just the ginger syrup/candy with some woodsiness from the vetiver if you squint hard. summery and cute, but like with most gourmands for me it made me a little nauseous after prolonged wear

Steaming ginger milk tea. Wispy, tender, and cozy. Bright, zesty ginger on a languid, milky base. It brings horchata to mind, though it’s much softer and not at all sweet. I find it overtly medicinal and restorative, like a hot mug of tea your mom brings you while you’re home sick from school. I can practically feel myself weaken and wither when I give it a sniff. Lovely.

vintage sweater sleeves pulled over cracked knuckles. a sugared castle made of tree bark. the kind school nurse showing you where they keep the lost & found. or windfall & puffy clouds, helicopter leaves in a quickening brush past red cheeks & Mary Janes. later, as you take off your coat, you find a handful tangled in your hair.

I like this! For me it’s a personal scent i only where at home when i’m wanting to emulate a specific mood/scene/dream space and write in solitude. To my nose, something about it reminds me of almond. So comforting. Wishing i was hit with more ginger, but it’s beautifully well rounded

this is helping me forgive gourmand scents. milky-sweet, with herbal freshness from the ginger to balance it out a little. reminds me of lavender ice cream in the way the earthy and creamy notes compliment each other.

on a paper test, i got more of the lactonic sweetness and sweet-spicy balance, but on my skin the ginger is heavier. i could see this being a good solid everyday or signature scent

Very realistic, spicy ginger dusted with powdered sugar. I wouldn’t say it’s sweet, more fresh/medicinal even, but I like it :)

I’m starting to think that the problem is me. Poems one through twelve has notes that I should in theory, love. But there’s this burnt melted plastic scent that keeps following me; it’s like I’m cursed. This smells exactly like the ginger shampoo from the body shop, except this one is the temu version that has microplastics in it for extra oomph. I’m not getting any milk here besties. But here’s a poem to celebrate my displeasure(describe the scent)! poems one through twelve except i only need one to share my thoughts. i am an android, in a world long overgrown with flora and fauna the robot civil war has culled my fellow brethren the pungency of what is left behind lingers i am the lone survivor that nature now overtakes, though never reclaims because there is nothing natural about the artificial and yet the hunger for power, which drove us, was just so human.

felt like i was being choked out on the first sniff, dry down is confusing but cozy. can get nauseating if you inhale too much. can't seem to find the condensed milk note? i was excited for this to be sweet but there's only a subtle hint of it, no lactonic accord for me. definitely for those days where your breath condenses the air, and your fingertips cling to a scalding hot drink. maybe my opinion will change after i've tried my other samples!

All I’m getting is very spicy realistic ginger and vetiver, its spicy wood, but a little mellow, I can’t smell the condescend milk, I guess its the ghost in the background mellowing this fragrance, it’s leaning more masculine, not for me, I wish it was more milky. This should definitely be only worn in the winter.

so cold... almost nutty, ice cubes in thick condensed milk. a passing thought, a perfume for a gray day with a chill in the air. chosesvert's comment about something vintage coming out of plastic is perfect

Not really what I was expecting! Thought it would be a bit more condensed milk but I honestly just get ginger the most. It’s not bad just probably wouldn’t buy full bottle

Sweet incense, old church, dusty pews. Not super wearable to me, but I like it for the craft.
